How to Redact Text in PDFs Using Mac Preview

this is Darius from the rabbitpad.com and in this video I'm going to show you how you can redact or hide text inside of your PDFs using Apple's preview please make sure that you click that subscribe button and that notification Bell so that you can be notified when I publish videos in the future here I have a PDF using Apple's preview and let's suppose I want to hide certain parts of the document so that when other people see it they won't see that information this is how you do that you're going to look toward the upper right hand corner of the screen and click the markup toolbar and that is a picture of a pen or a marker with a circle then when you click that you're going to look for the black box that is colored in and this is the redact tool when you click on that you're going to get a warning telling you that once you redact text and close the document that information is gone forever click OK if you agree with that and now you can start redacting or hiding information let's suppose I want to hide the person's phone number so I will highlight that phone number and now that phone number is no longer accessible in future openings of this document let's say that I change my mind if the document is still in its original state you can just highlight that text again and your redaction goes away but I'm going to go ahead and highlight it again to redact that information and you can do that with any piece of text that you have inside of your PDF then once that document is closed you can no longer edit it and that information is hidden forever you can even open up other PDF tools whether it's Adobe Acrobat or the PDF reader inside of Google Chrome and you will still see the information here hidden with a black box with a bunch of x's so this is how you redact or hide text within a PDF in apple preview if you found this video helpful please click that like button and subscribe to this channel to view more helpful tips in the future also please be sure to visit my website at the rabbitpad.com
