How to Edit Text in PDF on Mac (Including Free Solution)

been unsure of how to edit pdfs on mac for free well this is the video for you in today's video i'm going to show you how to edit pds on mac os completely for free by the end of this video you're going to be able to edit the size color and font types in your documents like a pro modifying text within a pdf document can seem a bit like a daunting task and that goes the same for mac users even with apps like preview we're very limited in what we can do however using pdf element we have a full suite of editing tools so we can do everything we need within our pdf document welcome back to the pdf element youtube channel today we're going to learn these tips and tricks so you can better understand how to edit pdf text on mac first we're going to edit our text using the preview map application then within pdf element we're going to learn how to edit pdf text how to edit our pdf text format how to add text in pdf and how to edit an image or a scanned pdf file number one how to edit text on a pdf using preview format you may already know but there is a free pdf editor within mac os called preview preview is the mac os default pdf application and it has a couple of tools that allow us to do some basic editing so let's take a look and see what we can do by clicking on this drop down menu with a marker icon you will find some colors with which you can highlight the text and you will find a button with which you can underline and strike through on the other hand if you need to add comments notes or write something in a document you can activate the markup toolbar you can do this by clicking this button next to the document search bar and this will display a bar with some tools that will allow you to add new annotations the tools on this left hand side here are selection tools with these you can define what type of selection you prefer to use in the middle section here you'll find options to add text shapes handwriting and notes finally in this section over here on the right you can specify the color alignment and thickness of the lines so you might be wondering here where do i edit text in preview on mac unfortunately there's no actual tools that allow us to edit the text that already exists within a pdf in order to modify the text within a pdf you're going to need a dedicated piece of pdf software and that is where pdf element for mac comes in number two how to edit our pdf text before we begin remember that you'll first need to download pdf element for your mac please go check out the link in the description below this video where you can download the free version of pdf element and you can also search for pdf element within the apple app store if you've already installed pdf element and you're having trouble opening your pdfs with pdf element over preview remember that when you open your file you will first need to right click here and then go to open with and select wondershare pdf element alternatively within pdf element on the home screen we can go to the open and then go into where our document lives pick this document and then we're good to go once you've opened your pdf with pdf element we're going to make sure the text tool is activated which is located in the edit section now click on the paragraph you want to modify you'll notice that when you have selected a paragraph a blue border will appear now you can freely edit this block of text as if you were using a common word processor we can click and then type to then delete or highlight what we want to modify in this case i'm going to remove the last line of this block now that i've selected what i want to delete i just have to press backspace voila i remove this line and everything is still in place but before we finish i'll move the text box down a bit to reduce the gap between the two blocks to do this simply drag the block from its margin and make sure the cursor indicates that you are changing position and that's it doing this with any of the tool would have taken a long time as you can see modifying the text of a pdf within pdf element is very easy and you'll find it very useful on more than one occasion number three how to edit pdf text format now that we've learned how to modify our text in a pdf you're probably wondering how do you change the format things like color to modify the format of text the procedure is quite simple as well once again you will need to go to the text option found up here in the edit section now select the text you want to change the format and use the panel on the right to set the font color family font size alignment style etc also we have new features coming to the mac version like underline and strikethrough it will let you edit any text with more easily and more efficiency that was very easy right but let's continue there are still more tricks to learn number four how to add text in pdf adding new text to a pdf can be very useful especially when you want to add information or change notes about your document this task is very easy to do and it's very similar to editing text the first thing we're going to need to do is go up to select the text option found in the edit section now you'll notice the word text will appear under your cursor this means that in these areas you'll be able to create new text choose the ideal location like here we can click on it note that if the text message does not appear it is because your cursor is over a different text area now you will see where you can enter text keep in mind that you can modify the text area to fit the size you want by dragging the circles on the margins of the area with these tips you can easily edit pdf text on mac but there is one scenario where you might have some problems and that is when you bring in a text image or a scanned document text images or images that contain text can cause a problem but luckily pdf element has a solution for this case number five how to edit images or a scan pdf file what you'll need to do is download and use the ocr feature of pdf element the download option will appear when you're trying to use the ocr tool if you have not previously installed it you can do that up here to use ocr tool you just have to go to the tool menu and click on ocr text recognition this character recognition process will start immediately and when it's finished you'll be able to modify the text of the
