How to Pray For Healing // Randy Clark

well i want to welcome you to the training thursdays of global awakening uh we're sheltering in but god is still getting out and actually we're reaching more people and training through the media then we were able to do uh in the churches usually we'd have 300 600 sometimes a thousand people but we're reaching um several thousand and i didn't even have to leave home so i welcome you into my world a world of the supernatural a world of the joy of seeing people get healed i call it the experience of the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat because i experienced both tonight we will be talking about the five-step prayer model uh in the future we'll talk about uh how to get words of knowledge and another time we're going to talk about a biblical basis for healing and and we're also going to talk about uh healing and it's in relationship to the lord's supper and other other topics so it's going to be really really exciting i have this november the 22nd will complete 50 years of being in the ministry and i saw i was called to the ministry after i was healed and then i saw five people get healed in the first 14 years of being in the ministry and being a pastor and then we had a three-day event at my baptist church and i received an activation and an impartation and we begin to see people get healed uh every month if not every week and uh when you've only seen five healed in 14 years you're you're totally surprised when somebody gets healed i want you to know that it's not the sovereignty of god that limits so much of what we see as as much as it is our misunderstanding of the ways of god and not not having a good theology of healing and not and because of that we have a weak faith and or we've been taught actually not to expect healing to be normative and when you hear people on the radio say i believe that healing's possible but healing is not to be normative when you buy into that it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy and healing will not be normative for you but as for me and my house we are now surprised if we have a service and go for healing if there's a service where we pray for the sick if somebody's not healed we're shocked we're surprised if it doesn't happen whereas for years we were surprised if anybody did get healed now we'd be shocked if there was at least 10 percent of the people get healed uh who was there for talk about healings for ratio of people it's going to be an exciting night i'm going to uh wanting to share each of these uh four nights of thursday nights in may about healing but i also want to share with you some of the resources that we have for you and at the end of the teaching i'm going to present a great uh almost giveaway it's not quite a total giveaway but it's so close it's like 77 worth of books if you bought them in paperback for 10 11 books and i'm going to tell you what they are at the end and many of them are about healing and some of our most famous teachings of out of our healing schools are recorded in this what's called the message theory so the other thing once you know is that we have done what we call healing schools and i thought at one time i didn't like to do conferences because you get to preach once or twice and and uh i wanted to be able to do more a better nuancing and better building biblical basis for everything that we were doing and i just thought well i'm going to do a school just on healing and we'll do actually the first one we had 28 sessions in four days and then no breaks hardly except to eat and that almost killed everybody including me and after that we we we went to 24 sessions instead of 28 and we had four schools and one of them was dealing with the medical field we had psychiatrists doctors nurses the social workers uh francis mcnutt his wife judith and myself and we we did this near near and um yale university we actually did a symposium on uh before the day before uh at the chapel at yale university all of these schools each of them had 24 uh sessions one was on faith one was on healing and deliverance and one was mainly on healing and the foundational one it's a total of 96 teachings on healing which means that i believe that we have a lot to share and you can get it all if you subscribe to global on demand it's all free everything i've ever done or most everything we've done a lot of the things that we have at the school there's just so much material there it'd be a great great great source of training for you and and the people in your church now before we dive into the word i people ask me all the time you've i've written uh 42 books and i got one another one coming out in august this year it's on destin for the cross 16 reasons jesus had to die and i'm finishing another one in september and so i we so people say well what's what what do i need so i want to tell you what you need for um healing healing ministry and equipping the saints in your church for healing and i'm going to try to do it a simple way um the very first thing is i've written several books on healing but ones i want to draw your attention to i would say you say well where do you start you should start with this book and this subject power to heal and i say these should always go together the healing breakthrough this talks about teachings and practices that will hinder faith hurt faith destroy faith and teachings and practice and by the way and these things are taught by many churches and in teachings and practices that will build faith how to shift the atmosphere you see more happening because we've seen it's god's fault that's all we want to do is the sovereignty of god when really it wasn't we didn't understand the ways of god near us much and i say that because i went through a long period of time where i saw no healings and then i saw a few healings and then i saw uh beginning around 94 trial broke out about three percent of the healings to the number of people present a year or so later jumped to ten percent in one meeting never went back down uh that was in reading california we did eight days of meetings for bill johnson equipping his church and then uh a few uh years a couple of years ago it jumped to 20 we usually see about 20 healings to the number of people in the meeting and so it wasn't god's sovereignty change it was my understanding my understanding the ways of god my own level of faith growing up and so these are two i want to recommend to you this and our ministry team training manual it looks like this these are what i call my chevrolets you know it's like if these are good these are good but we also have something better it's the same book and the work guide their study guide and it comes in this cat this box that has a dvd in it and it tells you how to run a also a meeting in your home and teach on healing and how to use the study guide and this this would be our cadillac so the book by itself is the chevrolet this is the cadillac and these two things are in the box with the the dvd and it's eight weeks of teachings and and it goes along with uh some of the other things that we have and i would say start with this one thus power to heal and then after you've gone through that take your small group or your cell through this one the essential guide to healing bill johnson i wrote this together it was actually the first book i did with bill on he and his one of the first books i did on healing and against the same thing you got a workbook and then you can also get this uh curriculum guide now this i'm saying this should be the number power to heal should be the first thing you do this should be second bill this one will build on that one there will be a few things that's repeated but repetition is really important if you really want to learn and then after you've done these two i recommend that you do authority to heal this one is a little more in-depth a little more dealing with theology it's uh it's very good that it's different coming out from a different approach and it actually begins to answer some of the questions uh and again this is the work study guide and inside it again in the curriculum it'll have the study guide the dvd or a and a a a thing that tells you how to run the meetings so those can be really good so that's the chevrolet the book by itself the curriculum that's your cadillac but if you really want to go full out and get the best teaching you could get it incorporates all of this stuff but a whole lot more like in the first uh one uh the first course is and i'm talking about the uh global certification program and the christian healing certification program and uh it's and you can get credit for it for college you can get credit for it for seminary pray i believe everybody can lead somebody to jesus and but everybody's not going to be an evangelist everybody can see people get healed if they'll pray for healing but not everybody's going to be a healer or have the gift of healing and but some will and some will also be evangelists healing is part of discipleship and it's it's so exciting because it's one of the ways we really do realize when we are co-laboring with jesus and uh first corinthians chapter 3 verse 9 says for we are god's fellow workers and so we think of ourselves as fellow workers or as another translation says co-laborers with god and when we are in praying for the sick there's never time in my life i feel like i'm more co-laboring with god because you're so totally dependent uh like jesus said in in john uh five and uh two different places i can do nothing to myself i can only do what i see the father do uh we cannot make healing happen and when you so when you pray for people they don't get healed you saw what you can do i see what i can do and nobody's healed i know that's and i saw what i can do there then i see a healing or a miracle i just saw what god could do and it is so exciting now the passage is want to allude to are the uh commissioning of the of the twelve uh where jesus told them that they were to uh heal the sick and cast out demon preach raise the dead and preach good news to the poor and but in the in luke uh two chapters over i believe around 10 or 12 uh you have the commissioning of the 70 or the 72 now these are not apostles some people think only apostles can heal uh that that that's that was their role and they they had a special gift of healing as did the healing evangelist but the bible first corinthians 12 uh talks about those with gifts of healing and it's after he talks about uh apostles and prophets and those who work miracles and so it's it's a it's a not relegated or limited to the apostolic so i want you to know if you don't believe that god can use you you'll have no interest in this subject and you'll just think well that's for somebody else but it's not for me and you're just kind of watching out of curiosity but i want you to watch not out of curiosity i want you to watch as a learner as the disciple my favorite professor in my doctoral program at united theological seminary which was a methodist school i went to a baptist college a baptist seminary different denomination and then a method of seminary and also trained by john wimber and with vineyard movement so i have a great diversity in my background and also trained with omar cabrera a famous argentine healing evangelist and one of the things that john ruthman emphasized about discipleship was in the jewish mindset of discipleship unlike the greek the greek is concept rational learning concepts learning precepts but the jewish understanding of discipleship was very different it's becoming like the master it's not just knowing what he taught is doing what he did and walking the way he walked and that is the jewish understanding of discipleship so it's not enough to know the bible sometimes we think discipleship is learning more scripture well sometimes we learn it but we approach it this way we we make the bible a menu and we think that memorizing the menu is what god wants us to do but god wants us to know that is only the menu are you ordering anything off the menu and don't mistake eating the menu for eating the meal you're supposed to order from the menu so the bible tells us what god wants us to do and it tells us and gives us examples of how to do it and so we're going to be looking at that and in first corinthians chapter 8 tonight is what we're uh it talks about words of knowledge and we're going to talk about that tomorrow i mean next next thursday and uh but one of the keys for me and our healing means all over the world is there are so many more people that get healed when there's words of knowledge for it than when there's not and i don't know how to explain it except that's just the reality and so to uh tonight i want to talk about a a way of praying for the sick now i do not believe this is the only model for praying for the sick i don't believe it's necessary the best model i just think it's the best model for praying for the sick for someone who's wanting to learn how to get started and the reason for that is it takes several things we learned from scripture one of which is this almost every prayer in the new testament and most the prayers in the old testament that deals with healing are not intercessory prayers they're not petitionary prayers they're commanding prayers where you're not commanding god but you're commanding the body to do what you're telling it to because of the authority you know you have seated with christ in heavenly places and utilizing his name as jesus said you've asked for nothing in my name now ask my name and so this is just you say i want to be biblical well how did they pray they didn't pray long intercessory prayers it's all right to intercede and ask god and i do sometimes i can begin to pray i'll start out saying come holy spirit teach us what to do help us in this time but that's really i'm praying for me right now i'm not really praying for the person's healing and i don't mind if they hear me praying that some things however you do not want the person you're praying for to hear you pray because it won't build their faith and i'll talk about that uh in a moment so this is what i call the five step and i learned this in the vineyard movement and uh and it deals with the believing that healings in the kingdom and we preach the gospel of the kingdom and therefore as long as we've preached the gospel we're preaching about the progress of the kingdom healing's supposed to be in it and it's not to supposed to end until jesus comes back and we get glorified bodies and you don't need to get a glorified body you don't need any healing anymore so it's a relational prayer model that's one of the first things i want to get across is this is a relational prayer model and it's not to be perceived as mechanic so when i say five step don't get caught up in steps it's just a natural progress of a relational working together and i and and so the five steps is just to help us remember how to get started and we've seen so many people who have never seen anybody healed in their life and they got a hold of this model and and to learn that the bottom line of this model is do whatever he tells you what g mary told the disciples uh on the first of jesus signs in john's gospel chapter 2 where he she said do whatever he tells you and that was the secret and it's the same thing today bottom line is yes we do have a model that we look to it helps us to know what to do and things to remember but if the lord speaks to the holy spirit we throw the model out and just do whatever he says and and the bottom line is all about hearing faith comes from hearing hearing the word of the lord and the word there is rhema not logos it's not talking about necessarily memorizing some scripture though that's good it's but it's that it's not principle it's not steps it's literally the steps are to make us realize we have to be dependent upon jesus dependent upon the holy spirit and and and so it's a model where we don't blame somebody if they're not healed we don't blame them uh we don't we don't tell them it's their fault it's a it's a very loving compassion and it's actually um a pastoral model in the sense of uh it's it's not uh belligerent it's not i don't swing my coat around and throw it on somebody and i know that works for some people on stages and but there are things that works on stages that doesn't work very well in normal life at your work at your school when you meet somebody just you know and you really realize this is a divided appointment god has set up so here are the five steps i'm going to give them to you then i'm going to come back and talk about them and explain them better and then i want you to know that at the end of this for those of you who are watching you need to be prayed for for healing we have 40 to 50 people that will be waiting and from around 8 30 to 9 30 they will be ready to meet you and there will be a ribbon come up across the bottom of your screen to tell you how to get to these people and they're raring they love to pray for the sick and they are people of faith and they're they just love to pray for people so here's the five steps number one is an interview number two is a diagnosis and in the diagnosis you're trying to select how do i pray that's appropriate to the diagnosis of what is the root cause of this person's sickness sometimes during the interview you'll be able to find out that sometimes you think you do it may be wrong and you got it just like a doctor that gives a person a test and it doesn't prove to be the cause of their disease i wouldn't give you two cents for a doctor who said just sent me home and didn't give me another test same way for those of us who are healers through prayer and faith we need to ask god it wasn't that what else might it be and so as we go back and interview again uh we might sign to find out okay it's this let's try praying now for this and pray in a different way because you don't pray the same way for an inner if a root's an inner healing uh or they need to forgive somebody related to that or if it's an afflicting spirit you don't pray the same way you would for inner healing you can't do inner healing on a demon and you can't cast out a hurt feeling feeling the impact the uh compromising our immune system and then making us vulnerable to uh become sick now everywhere i've gone on every continent i've talked to doctors and people who work in the medical field and they have told me that 80 percent i've read about it as well 80 percent of precipitating causes of people going to see a doctor or going to the hospital is literally rooted in that realm of psychosomatic now that's a bit that's a medical term let me give you what i think is a good biblical explanation for the understanding of the medical field but the church understood it first jesus said do not let the sun go down on your wrath uh he talks about the unforgiveness makes our bones uh um turn to dust uh he talks he talks about the sin our own sin and guilt having an impact upon us and so the bible understands that we're tripar three parts we have a soul we have a spirit we have a body and some ways also the soul is one way of talking about all three of them in uh together what we believe and what we're thinking what we're feeling our feelings and our emotions there's books written about this by the medical field can be very dangerous they can be toxic they can kill us and so they are interrelated so you're trying to find out what's the cause here so interview number two diagnostic decision prayer selection number three pray for effect which means speak to the condition tell the body to do what it needs to do curse the tumor tell it to shrink command a herniated disc to move uh you know tell cancer to die tell pain to leave tell headaches to leave just comment in jesus name i command that's the way almost every prayer for healing is in the new testament now what do you do after you've done that and how long do you do it these are all things we'll get to we won't be able to get to everything in tonight i mean the i have like some of these chapters in the books i showed you on the the subject three of those books have different types of chapters on it uh there are 30 27 30 pages of material that goes into so much detail that i'm not going to be able to deal with all of it tonight so you get to a point where uh either nothing else is happening or you just need to know what's happening and so after you prayed for a while don't pray for a long time either not at first before you stop stop and re-interview ask what's happening find out how much better they are if they are at all many times and actually the majority of the times when people are healed they they feel nothing and there's no change the first time i pray pray so if you only pray once and nothing happens and that's all you pray you're not going to see near as much healing as if you begin to understand the ways of god and how healing works and how to build faith in the person that's listening as well as yourself so after you have re-interviewed and found out if nothing's happening you may always want to pray again same way just and three or four times maybe pray for 30 seconds to a minute speak into that condition stop and ask what's going on if they say oh i i'm getting better then it's all right to be like a little kid it's all right to be excited they need to see your excitement because your excitement is you know how to interpret if they say i feel heat i feel energy in my body i if you see them begin to perspire because their body's heating up and you know these are all signs that happens very frequently over 50 percent of the time when somebody gets healed and you see that you don't even have to ask him you can say i i believe something's happening what are you feeling i i i believe that god's touched you now it looks like he is from my and and your excitement helps them to know this is a good deal this is a good thing and then you pray some more and they may keep getting better you just keep thanking god and and by the way you don't have to be fl big long flowery prayers with the language of heaven just be like a little kid speak to the condition and and i tell people this because my one of my kids asked me once my uh a daughter-in-law actually she said how do you pray for so long because sometimes i pray 20-30 minutes for one person uh when there's a very serious perhaps if they're dying of cancer or something like that and god's moving uh and and i'll tell her i said well i don't always talk that whole time of prayer is not just always talking i'll tell the person in the interview process i'll say listen sometimes my prayer you'll hear me i'll be praying and i'll pray out loud i want to i want to pray loud enough they hear me however if i get to a place i'm getting discouraged and i don't know what to do then i go into intercessory prayer underneath my breath i don't want them to hear this prayer because it's it's so real it sounds like this oh god nothing's happening and i don't know what else to do you're going to have to show me oh god i need your help we're supposed to be co-laboring oh god show me speak to me i'm listening show them give them let help us in this so you don't want the person to hear you say i don't know what to do you don't want the hurt the person to hear your discouragement that type of prayer needs to be underneath your breath and then after you prayed that then you come back and you pray out loud in in and you're praying with a confidence in god not yourself but a confidence in god believing in in the uh the power of his word and uh so you may want to pray again pray differently you may realize something it's it maybe it is an afflicting spirit and so then you're going to change the way you pray and now you're commanding the spirit to leave and you're breaking its power maybe it's a curse you break the power of the curse in the time of speaking to the condition that's the time of prayer stop and you may go back to that cycle sometimes you may even go back and re-interview because you realize there's something missing and then when you don't know what else to do they're either healed the person is ready to leave and they let you know or they're you've got as far as you can go in this session for healing and you're stuck and you don't want to do in the person you can tell they want to go now then what i i give them what i call the post prayer suggestions and post prayer recommendations and that would be this if they got healed and and it was connected to bitterness and unforgiveness then the post-prayer suggestions guard your heart be careful about your anger unforgiveness this is what was causing this do you know be aware this is a principle of the kingdom that when we hold unforgiveness towards somebody according to the parable jesus where it can be turned over to the tormentors and they have access it's like the shield of protections being removed if it was a generational curse and and uh you broke the curse and you need to let them know that they're a christian they can have that same authority and power um if it was dealing with uh um an afflicting spirit so now how would you know that let's say you begin to pray and as soon as you begin to pray the pain leaves instantly and just a few seconds later it appears in another part of the body i'm not talking like a fibromyalgia situation where they want your pain moves a lot but it's not moving in response to prayer it's just one day it's here and one day it's there but i'm talking about you pray and it moves i prayed for a woman one time as a catholic lady and came to our uh a home group we had with a catholic friends of ours who our worship leaders and she had awakened for 15 years with pain in her shoulder and she could sleep two or three hours and it would her arthritis and pain her shoulder would hurt so bad she thought was arthritis that she'd wake up and she'd sleep for another two and wake up in pain sleep around and she just had real miserable sleep as soon as we began to pray she said it's gone i got excited because i thought well that's it that's just what it was it's arthritis it's gone but and i was excited and then she said oh it's back but it was in her neck i prayed again we had about 10 people in the group with us we and they're watching we prayed again and she it's gone and then it went to her shoulder prayed again it went to her elbow prayed again it went to her wrist prayed again it left we had saw the same thing of a guy who was carried in on the back of a friend in india a big crusade we were doing about 25-50 000 people and this guy's feet hurt so bad he couldn't touch and he was not a christian and when i began to pray he's sitting in a chair his pain left his feet went to his knees prayed again it went to his hips prayed again and went to one hip prayed again and went down that one leg to the knee prayed again and went to his foot prayed again and it left and now the man can walk for the first time in years without any pain in his feet this was not a natural pain this was an afflicting spirit and it's just not in second or third world or majority world countries i was praying one time in norway had a couple of methodist seminarians with me and i start to pray for this guy he has 23 years disability uh a total disability because he get these unexpected pains to go through his little chest as long as it's really bad and didn't know what it was doctors had not been able to diagnose that's another key when there's a problem and the doctors can't diagnose the cause a second key medically speaking is what normally works medically medicine that normally works does not work another key if they say when i'm in church if the if the presence of god gets stronger if the the glory or the presence the anointing increases so does my pain i may not even be in pain but when that happens these are all signs as well as when you pray and it moves that it's not a natural cause and it's not a psychosomatic cause it is an afflicting spirit and so you pray differently so and then the last thing in the in the post-prayer suggestion is that they don't get healed don't blame them don't tell them it's their fault don't agree with the enemy satan means the accuser of the brethren parakletos the word for the comforter the counselor the helper in john 14 15 16 this word in greek literally means the one who's called to your side to help you in your time of need and it has a special relationship to being like your advocate in a court in a trial of law but it's not limited to that that's why sometimes it's translated that so his job is to come to your side to defend you so when we are praying for somebody and they don't get healed when we walk away we need to ask ourselves what i said to that person did they feel condemned accused or was i standing beside them to strengthen them and if it is true and you know it's true they don't have any understanding of healing therefore they have almost no faith for healing it doesn't do any good to accuse them and say you didn't get healed because you didn't have enough faith because they're probably sitting there thinking i didn't heal because i didn't have enough faith and now i know that's why i didn't get healed excuse me because the preacher or this christian told me i didn't have enough faith you do the opposite if it's that if that is the problem i s what i would do is you know if i was a doctor and i am a doctor of the soul i would write a prescription for you and it would be to me to study these verses and to read these passages of scripture all dealing with healing that's going to build their faith and then i decided to read this chapter of this book and next week you come back see me again and we're going to pray again and what i'm doing is i'm trying to remove the distractions remove bad theology sometimes just like you're leading somebody to jesus there's something they've been taught that makes it feel like a barrier to come to the lord it's hard for them to accept faith or grace because of bad teaching or bad understanding and we have to with the word of god remove that same way it's true with healing sometimes it's bad theology bad understanding and if i can get them to move away from karma type thinking i got this because of my lifestyle this is and it can be there is a truth in it so the wind reap the whirlwind but we got to move from that which something the reiki and therapeutic touch people can't have they don't have this message it's grace healing can be yours because of what jesus did he has dealt with your sins so that grace cannot come so let's go back and start over so much more i want to teach you so i've kind of mentioned what the five steps were interview diagnostic decision prayer selection pray for effect or speak to the condition number four stop and re-interview what's going on and those three those three are those four may be gone through several times and then end with the post-prayer suggestion so we had a guy got delivered once in india he had migraines for 10 years every waking moment and when we started to pray he just started manifesting him he was a a muslim and he'd watched like i think there'd been 50 000 healings the night before out of crowd of a hundred thousand and uh uh about thirty thousand gave their life to the lord and he was there and he saw that so he came the next night he said will your god do for me a muslim what he did for those hindus and i said i believe he will asked him what his problem was he's a he's like 25 i had headaches since i was 15 years old constantly severe headaches and every waking moment i said okay we're going to pray in the name of jesus but i want you to know just like i told him when jesus heals you it's a sign that he really is the son of god and he really is the savior and uh so we began to pray and as soon as he began to pray his eyes and his head he went back his tongue started going like that his eyes rolled back you see nothing but the whites and he's screaming high pitch and it fell over and i knew it was a demon i couldn't speak his i was going through a translator couldn't speak i think his telugu was the language we were using so i had a translator assistant pastor i said you know it's a demon get rid of it cast it out and so a few minutes later the guy comes back and he's so excited no headache and i s he was so excited i said well that's awesome now you have a problem he said this is my post-prayer suggestion he said what's my problem i said that was an afflicting spirit it was cast out in the name of jesus we as christians have authority in his name because we have relationship with his name is not magic not a talisman but you're not a christian and that spirit almost always will try to come back and by the way when we do pray for somebody that is a christian and that happens we tell them you know don't be surprised if that pain comes back but when it does don't think you lost your healing don't think you're losing your healing because that spirit is just wanting to know if you are going to give it permission by not resisting it to come back and when it does you meet it at the door and you do what we did in the authority of the name of jesus i forbid you to come upon me or hinder me in jesus name leave and you may have to do that several times but then he's going to realize that you understand who you are in christ and your authority so that's part of the post-prayer suggestion for somebody who has that type of an issue now let's go back to the first part the interview because there's so much you need to do in the interview first of all you need to know if especially if it's in a pastoral context you know what i'm in the church but if you're in a big church and you're on a ministry team you may not know who the person is very first thing is just be kind be nice find out who they are don't treat them like they are a cancer or they are a demon or they are a herniated disc or or they are a person that's got metal in their body and and all all of it's about their condition rather than them you treat the person not the condition find out their name tell them what you're going to do tell them that you're going to may pray several times tell them that you're going to want to just interview a little bit i want to try and find out what may be causing this and then we're going to pray and then after we pray i if you begin to feel anything i want you to interrupt me now you may feel heat you may feel peace you may feel your pain get worse you may feel and don't be don't be discouraged if it gets worse there's that's there's a reason for that and that's good and we'll be able to take care of it if you feel your pain move i want you to tell me instantly if you begin to feel energy tingling electricity in you i want you to tell me that's a good sign heat's a good sign peace is a good sign and a lot of people that get healed and be sure tell them this now a little less than 50 percent of the people get healed they don't feel anything and uh except their pain goes away now that's a feeling it's a feeling my pain is going but let's say they have cancer in the initial stages stage one and they have no pain and they have no way of knowing if they've been healed until they go back to the doctor and and and so sometimes it is you say when you go back to the doctor uh you you get a test find out and uh especially if there's just tremendous heat and stuff that's coming you know i always say i believe you're gonna find out you are healed um we always tell people who are on medic on receiving medication and under doctor's care we never tell them to stop their medication we tell them if you're healed the doctor is going to be able to tell that and he's going to know that you don't need this medicine because even though there can be miracles where people are totally healed instantly they stop all their medication and don't have side effects some medicines it's very dangerous to stop at cold turkey you need to be tapered off um it's like i do think i do think don't ever tell a diabetic not to take their insulin uh when we tell when we're praying for people of diabetes we tell them uh if you really have been healed or you're being healed you'll be able to tell it when you do your blood work and if your blood work is good you can reduce your insulin accordingly and i had one nurse she's an rn had diabetes really bad um over three or four days it gradually went down to where that she didn't need to take any insulin because her blood work said she didn't need any insulin so we need to have wisdom about it they need to know when you walk away that they felt like that they were jesus would have treated them like that what i'm talking about is value them love them don't condemn them be the paraclete like a be like a paraclete not the paraclete but be in that role i'm here to i want to help you and i tell i tell them now you interrupt me and now even if you the moment you begin to feel so i want you to interrupt me tell me sometimes they will a lot of times they won't that's why it's good to stop after wang and ask what's going on and then many times they'll say i started feeling as soon as you start praying well if they would have told you that you would it would have encouraged your faith because once you realize oh my helper's here and helping me it encourages your faith because my faith goes up the moment i realize in this situation i understand the ways of god and i've seen this happen so many times it encourages me i am not flying solo on this i have my co-pilot with me and we're doing this together and i and i i let the person know oh that's exciting that's good because i think we should get excited when god shows up now so let's say you've done the interview and because you're trying to decide uh in the interview uh what's the cause how do i pray and a lot of times you really don't know what the cause is sometimes there'll be something that's said let me give you an illustration i was praying for a woman who had been blind in brazil in goyania for five years she'd been blind for five years and that night our team saw eight blind people get their eyesight and the senior pastor of that church we were doing a healing school for him had never seen anybody blind healed when he prayed and he had two that night and so i'm praying for this um woman and i'd interviewed her and i'd asked her if there had been any body cursed them or if they had been involved with any um type of witchcraft and i forgot the name of it in brazil right now but there's there's several types of words that's that's for witchcraft and um and i asked if you'd be involved that and reason why it's so important to ask in brazil is about at least 20 of the people brazil who are in church have have done that before they became christians and so you can open up to a demonic attack and i'd ask that you know we've not done that i've not been under any curse or anything i asked if she and and this is a very important question to ask by the way very important if you forget everything else i said about every other question i asked be sure to ask this one did anything happen in your life in the last couple two three years or if it's really really bad it can even be longer than that that was traumatic trauma is a is can be a major cause of physical illness especially and i didn't finish my thought while ago when i talked about the the medical word psychosomatic the biblical understanding of that word is this it's when we don't respond to someone who sinned against us in a biblical way and instead we hold anger unforgiveness and bitterness against them and so when we fail to respond in a biblical way either our own sin or sins people did to us it's a psychosomatic situation that's just a biblical principle for a scientific word and god understood it long before the doctors understood it now so i'm praying for this woman she's blind five years she's been blind and i'm speaking see i don't know what's causing it i don't think it's i don't have any reason to think it's a spirit i don't think it's a curse and she said there was really nothing that had happened traumatic in her life other than her father died and yes that's traumatic but i don't think that would be the root cause and and so i decide i'm just going to speak to the condition and speak to the eyes to see it she doesn't know exactly why she's blind and so i'm just speaking of pupils and corneas and everything i can think of blessed in the eyes i command when i'm speaking to the conditions i say i command those eyes to see i command now i'm not commanding god to heal i am speaking in the authority that we have in christ and i'm speaking to the eyes knowing that they need to be healed and believing that god can heal them and i prayed that four or five times for like a minute just speaking to the eyes short prayers a few words same word over and over and like i told my daughter-in-law sometimes when i'm praying i'm not saying anything so i tell the people in an interview as long as i'm touching you as long as my hands on your shoulder or i'm holding your hand or whatever seems to be appropriate with this person as long as i'm touching you even if i'm not praying out loud i'm still praying because i'm believing that god's power is flowing into you and when i lift my hand off of you know i'm done praying for that moment and so sometimes you say i command that cancer to die and they're start sweating they feel power i had one woman almost shook off of her seat and she had not uh felt anything i prayed 20 minutes nothing had happened but i knew i had a gift of faith she was going to be healed because of the word of knowledge a person had a dream they told it to me don't have time to go into the store maybe another time a word of knowledge but i knew and i wasn't going to quit even though i had like 50 or 80 other people over here in the line i said i'm not going back this woman's got two weeks to live and god's healing right now no god's going to hate her because of that word but when it started i didn't have to say hardly anything i would just i'd just talk to her what's happening tell me what's happening you still still feel that heat yes good thank you jesus see thanksgiving is also part of prayer god if you ask for something he does it holy spirit etiquette is to thank him thank you jesus thank you holy spirit thank you father i thank you for what you're doing god more more lord multiply your power once something's happening that's a good prayer multiply your power increase its energy increase the electricity if it's heat increase the heat agree with what god's doing if we come in an agreement with what god's doing it gets stronger but if we this is not the same as as new age understand of healing where we're not in this dependent relationship but we're independent and we can create our own reality by our words i'm not talking about that at all that is not the christian model of prayer we are dependent on god he's the lord and we're the servants and we cannot create our reality by our words but when we hear what he wants to do and we know what he wants to do then when we speak in agreement with what he's doing then there's great power in it this these are important things to learn now so i prayed three or four times for this woman who's blind five years and nothing's happened so what i i decided to do was to go back and re-interview her so i i i said you know you said that nothing traumatic had happened in your life but your father died and and and you've been blind for five years so here's my question i should have asked you this earlier but it didn't how close was the time of you're going blind to your father's death and she said instantly well i got my attention and then i said because i think i know what's going on now so then i said okay how cl were you with your father when he died yes okay were you touching your father when he died yes and that's when you went blind yes so now i say to her because now i know oh my i praying wrong i was praying as a natural cause i was praying maybe a cycle i didn't know for sure i didn't think it was a fl a spirit of affliction which is a nice way of a less scary way of saying demonic unclean spirit so i said to her and this was my faith not hers i said i'm going to pray for you one more time and this time when i get done praying for you when you open your eyes i believe you're going to see so i changed my prayer and now i know you see when you think it might be a spirit you don't pray for as much authority as when you know it's a spirit now sometimes you i pray it's kind of like a test to see see if it gets worse you know and so i just i just i command that spirit of affliction to lift off your eyes and i command those eyes to see in the spirit i command you to leave i break your power i cancel your assignment in the name of jesus christ of nazareth open your eyes she opened dry so she could see man i was so happy she was happy but if i hadn't taken the time to go back and re-interview i would have i could have ended up stopping and thinking that's all god wanted to do and it wasn't sovereignty what it was was i wasn't aware discerning the cause and sometimes you don't know what to cause this but it really is helpful when you do what happens if somebody gets partially healed like 60 percent or 80 but they're not totally healed yet but they need to go or they've run out you've run you run against the wall you don't know what else to do uh here's what i tell them listen wrap up whatever degree of healing you receive tonight or today wrap it up in thanksgiving and give it to god thank god for what you got and ask him for the rest and believe he wants to bring it to a completion you come back next sunday if it's happening in church and you're on a ministry team tell them come back let me pray for you again next sunday or you may find that before two or three days is over the rest of it will come um about 15 percent of the people that we pray for we hear that they were healed uh after the prayer nothing uh at the time um i want to i want to conclude this and and i really really really realized i should have left some time to let you ask questions and and maybe in the future we will do that we'll have to try to leave some time for ask questions and also i want to remind you you can go into the uh uh the whoever the ribbon's telling you and you're going to be able to go and meet people in just a few minutes that can uh are waiting to pray for you who have lots of experience in praying and and you know one of the things to learn how to pray for others is just be prayed for yourself and and and you can learn uh here's the story i want to tell you uh two stories one was a totally born deaf girl about 18 19 years old and we started praying for her and uh you know when we knew that she was born this way so it wasn't psychosomatic uh and and it there's a piece there's parts of her it's just not there and i don't know we don't know if it's nerves we don't know what part's not working but she was born deaf and uh we don't believe it's a spirit and we don't believe it's psychosomatic we don't believe uh that it's trauma uh we we believe that there just needs to be a healing it needs to be a creative miracle probably so we started praying and we started praying about 11 prayed for about an hour because she's she's starting to to hear now she couldn't hear a voice but and she couldn't hear a snap but i i would do i would do that really loud and she she i'm beginning to hear it and that caused her to come into some faith because she had never heard anything in her life and it caused all of us this prank to come into more faith and we kept praying and we would clap and walk and step away and get farther away and farther away and then we'd have her turn around and look at how far away we were and then we started just doing snaps and then we started talking and it actually is strange because she could hear a high-pitched sound a low-pitched sound but she couldn't hear the sound of the pitches of of my voice we prayed for two or three hours and i say we i mean literally we myself and two or three others as we were praying and we were encouraged because god was you know we don't pray for two or three hours when nothing's happening normally because something's happening she's getting healed god was with us but when we when when we quit it's close to three in the morning uh she was this was the healing meeting so she'd come for healing um and a lot of people have been healed but this was we were very excited about her she still couldn't hear my voice so she goes home and the next morning she's awakened by the sounds of pans in the kitchen and she hears a dog outside her window barking now she doesn't know it's a dog because she's never and she doesn't know those are pants because she's never heard a sound until last night her brother she she through sign language talks to her family and her brother realizes so he has on his an app on his phone of sounds and he puts up this dog sound on his phone and asks her through silent is this what you heard she said yes this is the sound of a dog barking she gets so excited and she comes to we went to another church the next day and that morning was on sunday she goes there and she gives her testimony of how she was healed to a group of i mean we give it in portuguese to everyone who can hear but she signs her testimony to the crowd of the uh deaf people and that day when i walked out of that church after a lot of people were sealed we had a big team with us but this girl who was deaf and now can hear is praying for other deaf people through sign language because that's the only language she knew now the other one i said is when things things are happening you keep praying if you're praying for a lot of people nothing's happening cut your losses get to the next person because you you know if you're praying for somebody and nothing's happening you got a lot of people to pray for don't spend too long with somebody not happening now i said that that's our rule but i told you at the beginning of this teaching the bottom line is this do whatever he tells you so there's this woman on our team from america we we have our international teams they come from all over europe asia latin america africa but up majorities from the united states and uh she was from america and we came to this meeting and the night we're going to pray is a there's a special night where we usually do this once one night in each church we go to and come early if you're blind if you're deaf if you're uh can't walk without an aid or if you're terminally ill if you have one of those four things come early an hour before church starts my team and i are going to pray for you if you don't have one of these conditions don't come wait till the prayer time in the normal service and so we meet and there's prayer and there was prayer and then there was usually an hour of worship and then we prayed through that and and then there's the message is an hour long and but then it's translated into portuguese now it's two hours long and so it's four hours and now we have an hour of of ministry at the end sometimes up two hours of ministry but that time is in our and this woman when she got there saw a blind man and during the interview she found out this guy was 60 years old and when he was five 55 years ago he had a myriadic acid spill in his eyes and it burned up his eyes and you couldn't see a cornea and you couldn't see a pupil all you could see was about an eighth of an inch thick scar tissue and uh she's praying and she stops in interviews anything happening no can you see any better no and normally you quit there's a lot of people to pray for but she hears this impression not a voice it's an impression don't stop and she didn't stop that went on she prayed the whole night five hours and when she left he couldn't feel a thing he couldn't see a thing and she went back to america thinking i was a total failure but three days later i'm in another city in northern brazil but called blame and this uh this was in goania and pastor calls me he says greatest miracle in the history of our church history of our city he tells me what i just told you and then he told me the rest of the story he wasn't he didn't see a bit better the next day or the next night he went asleep blind as a bat next day the next night he went to sleep blind as a bat but the next morning resurrection morning the third morning he woke up with no scar tissue and brand new pupils and cornea and it's like john 9 he was down at the hospital that he told me the pastor they got him down there for the third time they keep asking him to say same thing tell us again how is it you can see this is what you can have experiences like this too don't get discouraged don't don't say it doesn't work because you pray for 20 people they don't get healed just keep praying the guy who come who we i learned to pray from told us to my church he said don't stop praying till you've prayed for 200 because if you'll pray for 200 people you'll see so many get healed out of 200 that you'll be hooked for life so i want to encourage you later in the uh in the week and on on we're going to culminate on uh pentecost sunday on sunday night in a great time of impartation heidi baker is going to be with me late hatland their times of impartation when i prayed for them prophesied over and we're going to pray also for an activation next week next thursday night tell your friends get more people to come and watch it you can really learn we're going to talk about how to get a word of knowledge gonna give a lot of illustrations and we're gonna pray for the activation in word of knowledge uh so that you'll begin flowing in that gift that's something god gave me a gift for was to pray for people to receive activations john wimber heard uh god's audible voice first two times we met tell him that one day he was going to use me to pray for people to be activated in the gifts and to be filled with the holy spirit and in 94 and went to toronto that's when it broke out and in a real big way and wember called me and said randy what god told me about you 10 years ago it started now and for 25 years we've been going for it so let me uh before you go to your uh chat room for prayer uh we have eleven books here for ten dollars normally these books are seven dollars a piece uh this one healing is in the atonement and the power of the lord's supper in relationship to healing is two of my favorite messages these are a lot of the best messages i teach my favorite messages in healing schools the thrill of victory that's the one i get the most requests for and the agony of defeat and it's one it's touched so many people these are two teachings on healing you need we actually require that people who go to the nations with us to listen to these not don't have to really actually listen to them or they can read them the biblical basis feeling i will be teaching on this in the future you know you could you could order get the pdf it's going to be pdf it's not going to be the the paperback book but it's the pdf books you can get them right online uh ten dollars you get them delivered to you and you can be with me and have your notes here so you don't have to worry about taking notes and it helps you remember this is a booklet i'm writing a new book on this a full rank a full sized book and it's dealing with these two things is but it's also more this is from john's gospels healing out of intimacy it talks about the importance of obedience to real interest to me involves if you love me you'll obey me and out of the obedience comes relationship out of the relationship comes god's revelation he comes to us and reveals things to us and now that revelation we now know what his will is and it causes us have a high degree of faith for healing and the second one is about the acts of obedience in relationship to healing the next this is one of the first ones i ever wrote learning to minister under the anointing learning how to what to do and how to pray and then how to have a healing ministry in your church this is on words of knowledge and by the way this is a different book than the free book that's available to you tonight that's on words of knowledge it's a chapter out of the the book uh power to heal it's been uh done really really nice and it's one of the uh strongest teachings i have on word of knowledge and it's free all you have to do is there's going to be a they're going to show you on your screen what you have to do to get that free uh pdf and then lastly this is christ in you the hope of glory now the glory this is not just the hope of getting a glorified body in the end a lot of people when they talk about that passage they either they they believe in the god that was or the god that will be all the miracles were in the past or the miracles will be in the millennium but i believe that part of the meaning of this god christ knew the hope of glory and this mystery which has been hidden now revealed which is this christ in you the hope of glory is literally means the anointing of god in you the anointing of jesus in you jesus said the father and i we're going to come and we're going to be in you and this anointing this is the christ means uh uh anointing to be the anointed one we're little christians where we've been anointed by him is the hope of glory and for john in john 2 and and for paul in his epistles he john and paul will use glory and power interchangeably so it can also mean this the anointing in you of christ is your hope of power flowing through you because shortly right after this is from colossians chapter one shortly thereafter paul said we labor with all his energy that works so mightily within us and so being a disciple we are commissioned you are commissioned to pray for the sick jesus has commissioned you to pray for the sick in matthew 28 uh in the great commission 18 19 and 20 which is be understood from the commissioning of the 12 to the commission of the 70 72 who are not apostles and now everyone's the great commission of all followers of jesus and it says you're to go out and make disciples of all nations baptized in them and name the father son and the holy spirit that doesn't it doesn't end there that's not that's just here's the rest of it and teaching them to obey observe do all things whatsoever i commanded you guess what healing is at the top of the list so is healing part of being a follower of jesus yes is it important to learn how to pray for the sick to be a disciple yes it's biblical discipleship yes we need to learn how to lead everybody needing to learn how to tell people how to the gospel lead them to jesus how to pray for healing inner healing deliverance and being able to take the word of god and help people escape from the deceptions of the enemy and because of what the word of the lord says we also take good news to the poor that jesus so identifies with the marginalized people that when we treat the least and the worst it's like he's treating him that's discipleship i hope to see you next week don't forget you can you can get the you can get the chevrolet or you can get the cadillac or you
