in this video we're paying vashto of the arcophane Lord of All Soul forges ready to lead a horde of bloodthirsty cultists and warp forged chaos machines against the Dark Angels so without any further Ado let's get painting so to get started I have primed vashto himself with a rune Lord brass I've left all the armor panels off and I've sprayed those with retributor armor spray so this will give us a nice head start on getting the job done the first thing I want to do is paint all of the darker gold areas and the current music of this is Balthazar gold now we're going to look at covering some of the trim around the gold armor panels we're also going to look at some of the various bits of metal on vashtor himself now you can choose which parts you do it really doesn't matter but I'm going to focus like I said on those trim elements and also on the big arms holding those wings together we'll move on to painting The Gold Elements next and the color underneath this is retributor armor so we've already got those panels done this is more focusing on some of the parts of vat store's mechanical wings such as the decoration and studying across the top we also paint some of those exhausts in this gold as well so just take your time it should cover in one coat but just in case it doesn't will all good putting a second one on we'll paint all of the silver necks and the color on useless is dark aluminum from Valeo metal color now if you haven't got this you can use lead Belcher that's just fine I just prefer how this comes off the brush now there's quite a few bits of silver to do so take your time with this we've got that tail to do we've got all the sharp blades on his wings and his left hand and there's also little bits of exposed piping and tubing that we can do as well not to forget all those mechadendrites and tendrils coming off his hammer and out of the floor with all that done we'll now wash everything with null oil that is everything apart from all of the retributor armor so all of the silver any Balthazar gold and that runelord brass we're going to cover that with null oil when that's completely dry with anger takes an agrax earth shade we're going to use this over those gold areas but we're also going to use it over all the null oil areas as well and the reason for this is to give it a bit of a dirty grubby look because if you look at the aesthetic of Ash door it isn't quite a clean metal color it's quite a dirty worn metal we'll then start the highlighting of all the metals so the first color we're going to use is sikarax bronze we're going to use this to highlight all the parts that we painted with Balthazar gold so it's a nice easy step all you need to do is use the tip of your brush make sure you haven't got too much paint we're just going to drag it along the shape of the model now this is a really easy stage but it is a bit time consuming and it does really pay to just be patient and not rush it so do take your time with this but it'll give you a nice sharp eyelet on all those battles like gold areas next up we'll highlight all of the Rune Lord brass areas using canop deck alloy so this is a nice bright metal color and again all we're doing is making sure we haven't got too much on our brush and dragging the tip of our brush along the edge of the model to capsule sharp raised edges and this should give you a very nice sharp highlight now if you do make any mistake or you put it on too thick then that's not a problem you just paint over it with the base color it'll blend in quite nicely across the model as a whole to highlight all of that silver I'm going to use Chrome from the layout model air now again I'm going to use the same technique in following along and catching all those sharp edges which makes it really easy to get a nice sharp silver highlight the other thing I'm going to do as well which I'll color to off cam but you can see it in the final model is I'm going to dry my brush off with the paint so I've got very little paint on my brush I'm just going to dab it along those Blades of the Wings just to give the effect of a bright spot of silver that aren't quite as soiled as the rest of it to highlight all of the gold we'll use Liberator gold now there's two different ways we're going to use this the first is on those gold armor panels you'll notice that there are some fairly uh obvious streaking lines on them so there's some notches on there so all we're going to do is paint lines along those armor piles and this will give us a nice bright highlight the other area we're going to use liberated gold is just along those parts on the wing spines I just want to catch those edges that's nice and easy exactly the same way we painted the rest of the the metal highlights by getting a little bit on our brush and dragging it along those edges the last thing we'll do with all of the gold is add some of that dude and grime into the recesses so we're going to use typhus corrosion for this which is a technical paint make sure you're using an old brush as well we just want to get a little bit on the brush and we're just going to dab it and stiplet into those resetses now don't worry if it goes in too thick because the next thing we'll do is clean our brush make sure that it's dry it's cleaned off all the water so it's not full of water it's just a little bit damp and I will use it to just feather the edges into the rest of the gold and very easily very simply you're going to get a nice dirty muddy murky effect on this gold armor that replicates the box art quite easily but we'll beat all of the black element stacks and this is a really easy step you just need to be careful around the bit you've already finished now I'm using black Legion contrast pinks it covers really well you can use whatever black you prefer if you use a bad and black AK interactive black it's entirely up to you in terms of the areas we're focusing on we've got our vastus horns the back of his head we've got the head of the hammer we've got his Hooves and we've got all that tubing around the model as well we'll highlight all of that black using eshian gray which is uh it's quite a difficult color to use sometimes it's not the best in terms of its coverage but all we're looking to do is make sure that we've got some nice angled lines along those horns that are basically corresponding to the shape of the model when it comes to highlighting things like the hammer we can use the shape of the model again with a little bit on the tip of our brush and also those tubes we've run across in we can just follow the Angles and the lines are on there to get a nice basic highlight and don't worry if this one's a little bit thick for the final highlight we'll use dawn stone and the key with this is to make sure you get it inside all that ashinkray you painted in the last step so this may be a little bit difficult but all it is is a case of taking your time and making sure that you just painted inside if you put it on too thick then you can always go back over it with the previous color all with the black just to tone it down a little bit so don't forget we're doing all of those black areas we've previously done we'll move on to vashtra's flash next as we're coming towards the end because this isn't a particularly uh colorful model so it's fairly straightforward so for the flash we want to give it a kind of a pallid purpley feel like the box art so we're going to take some warp frame great we're going to paint this over all those flash areas now the one caveat of this is you need to be careful around those areas that you've already finished so this should be fairly easy and straightforward to do just take your time with it and you probably will need to put a second and possibly third layer on but it will be worth it because this does give you a really nice skin effect to shade all of that skin we will use magos purple contrast paint now don't go too wild with this we don't want to apply it too thickly we want it to be fairly thin we just wanted to really tint the recesses we don't want to give us too many uh hard delineation lights because that's just going to make it more challenging to layer back up afterwards so just use a little bit on your brush don't flood the area too much and if you do like you can see I have on some areas here and I'm just going to take the brush to suck up most of that contrast paint and then we'll just redistribute across the model when that's completely dry we'll go back to Warped finger and we're looking to highlight up all of those muscle fibers so we're going to paint the majority of it leaving that magos purple in the recesses so this is nice and easy and straightforward you'll be able to get away with just one coat here as well um so just take your time one key thing when you're painting muscle fibers like this is to make sure they all Connect into each other so you where you've got them on the top of the shoulder there for example lead connect down into the arm muscles as well so just bear that in mind as you're painting uh try not to do too overboard The Flash is starting to come together so we'll then take some slain Ash Gray and we'll use this to highlight up even further so we're looking for bundles of muscles muscle fibers we're just painting thin lines across the model particularly when you come to veiny areas as well and this is a really nice way of re-brightening about flesh so that it still retains that kind of gray purpley palette Dead Effect but it does have a little bit of life in it as well to complete the Flash and make it pop I'm just going to take 50 50 palette witch flesh and that cylines gray and again we're just looking to draw some fine lines across the model pick out some of the veins as well as this dries it'll blend into the model quite nicely and again like I said in that last step just adds a little bit of life into this kind of lifeless corpse flash that vashtra has we need to darken some parts of Vash door as well so the bit around his back where he's got all those exhausts coming out of him and also the end of that stretched flash on the wings so the color we're gonna use this is leviathan purple contrast paint we're going to mix it 50 50 with contrast medium and we're just gonna paint it into those areas where we want it when we come towards the edge of the areas we're going to clean our brush off and we're just going to feather that into the rest of the Flash and this is a really easy way of getting a nice blend if you do make any mistakes it's really easy to paint over and similarly just as how smooth that blend even more you can reinstate those highlights you did with warfing gray and Sun Ash Gray to really just accentuate the areas where you've got this little blend now Vash store has lots of glowing bits on him as the soul Forge demon energy emanates from his body so we've got things like the eyes we've also got the exhaust his mouth we've got the great on the hammer we've got grates on the armor we've got chaos runes and symbols all over him so all we're going to do is paint all of these with white so the color I'm using is bold titanium white from Pro acrylic you can use whatever white you like I'm just going to go around all the model getting all of these covered so it's time to get all of these glow effects in so the first thing I do is vashtor's eyes I'm going to paint these with Imperial fists contrast paint I'm then going to clean my brush off and I'm going to take some magma drop flame contrast which is an orange color and I'm going to paint this into the lower part of those eyes now I don't mind if this spills a little bit onto the eyelid as well or the cheekbone because actually there's going to be a little bit of a glow on there anyway for any red glowing bits now this goes for the bit of Ashton's face as well as the exhausts on the model we're going to take some ball red contrast paint and just paint this straight over those areas for vashtra's mouth we're just gonna paint them with Magma drop flame and then we're gonna blend some Imperial fist yellow into them so you get that really nice easy kind of orange yellow flamey glow which is so easy and effective it's really simple to do working around the rest of the model so for that Grill in The Hammer For example where very simply just going to paint magma drop flame in there we're then going to clean our brush off and then go back in and suck some of that paint up so that it gives a little bit of a glowing effect I'm going to paint a little bit of bar red in the bottom of that Circle as well just to give us a really nice stoked fire effect across the rest of the chaos rooms we're going to paint them with bar red so again very easy just paint that in there clean your brush off and then run it back along that contrast paint so as it sucks it up it leaves it in the recesses and gives you a very easy uh kind of glow effect on all those runes I'm going to do this for all the greats on vashtra as well when it comes to that head of the hammer I'm simply going to paint a little bit of Imperial fist contrast paint into the middle I'm going to clean my brush dip it into a little bit of bar red and then I'm going to wet blend this on the model so all I'm doing is painting those edges and you can see as the yellow gets drawn into it you get a really nice flame effect that really does again this what's that a few seconds and you've got a really nice effect on the hammer for the haft itself we're going to paint that bar red contrast paint all over it we're then going to clean our brush off make sure that it's not soaking wet but still damp but we're going to paint over that same area again and as you can see this will take that bar red off but it'll still give that glowing effect along all the cracks and also that overall red glow that his hammer halft has and there you have it vashtra the arcophane Lord of All Soul forges is done ready to cause Carnage on the table top so I really hope you enjoyed this video it was a little bit of a slog with the metallics but hopefully had some fun pinning glow effects towards the end so make sure you check out all of my other content and I will see you next time
