what's up guys welcome to new Unreal Engine 5 tutorial today I am going to show you on how to create a very simple water material it's gonna be a very easy view to follow so let's get started alright so the first thing to do is right click and create a new material this will USB gold and underscore water for example and let's open this up so the first thing that we are going to be changing is the shading model so we're gonna go down here and change it to a single layer water now what we can do is go ahead and add this output which is the single layer water material output and now with that what we can do is hold three and then left click and we create a new content and color we install click and then on the red um slide we're going to fill up to 100 percent and then you just plug that into the absorption coefficients as light absorption in this material will work like in real life this is the red color that we want to be absorbed and Etc okay so then what we're going to be doing is hold one and then left click and this will just create a simple parameter so now what we can do is just plug this at one at a refraction then do the same with opacity is hold one and then left click in this case it's going to leave it at zero put an opacity and the same on base color hold one and then left click zero pass it and as you can see we already have a bluish material which will look very cool so let's go ahead and add it into a world in my case I've used you know basically shot a bit of the terrain here so let's just go out include it into a quick let's report shapes plain in like 15 and then let's put it down here we go we'll have this water that we can put here so let's just go ahead and drag the uh material and you can see that we already have a simple water material but we can do more stuff in order to make it more realistic I'm going to be adding is some normal maps on the surface so we have little Wicks okay so this is very important you have to add or import the historic contact you'll be gonna be as using some textures from it [Music] so let's go back into our water material right click and create a texture sample and now we're going to do is Select it and assign a texture in this case it will be water and this is the water and normal and okay it's the texture that we want to be moving uh we're going to do is move it in both axis to create a realistic effect so let's go ahead and copy and paste this and node and now we can do is get the UVS and use this panor note this will go ahead and move it around so I'm going to go ahead and copy paste this onto the second one too and we want to change on here the speed to be at .05 so it will move it slowly in the x-axis and the same but in the y-axis for the other normal map so 0.05 great so now what we can do is blend this two normals into one I'm going to be using this blend and go correct the normals node let me splike that there and then finally this can be in normal and now as you can see we'll go ahead and create some waves so let's go ahead and apply this and go back into our level shape as you can see that we have some simple waves going on on the surface which looks very very cool so that's it guys I found this so helpful I would really appreciate if you could like video And subscribe to my channel the profiles will be available in my patreon and YouTube member so check it out join my Discord server follow me on my socials and now yes with all that said bye bye thank you foreign [Music]
