Hi folks. I was wondering what your favourite tarp setup is? I live in the UK and we don't have the best weather as it rains quite a lot and it gets very windy. I like to use an enclosed setup to offer maximum protection from the elements. It does have its draw backs though. In certain conditions, condensation does occur but this can be improved by opening the door as shown in the video. If you could post links to your favourite setups I'd be grateful. Best wishes from England

I have the same tarp. Love it. I prefer open setups in a lean-to configuration, but mounted high so I can walk under it. I adjust the height and pitch depending on the weather. For sleeping I generally pitch it in an A-frame shape in case the prevailing winds shift during the night.

Couldn’t you just use the tent stake, in lieu of the caribeaners, when brining the two stake points together?

hello again in today's video I'm going to show you how I make a hex peak tarp shelter using a 3 by 3 CD top I'll start off by showing you around the shelter now I'll go through all the components that you need well the rough guide on how to get it set up so here's the shelter it's vaguely based on the hex peak tent that some of you wild campers and bush crafters may have seen before it's a really good tent quite expensive though and if you've already got a DD tarp this might just just help you out the tent requires no cordage whatsoever however if you wanted to you could go out here for extra stability but the shelter itself is really really sturdy so it will withstand a lot of wind battering so take a look inside the shelter you can see there's quite a lot of room in there you could sleep two adults in there quite comfortably and you also get your kit in as well I would imagine I'm 5 foot 8 and I can lie down there comfortably I would imagine that six-footers could get in there no problem at all another advantage of this shelter is it boasts quite a lot of headroom so you quite easily sit up very comfortable I don't particularly want to get dirty but I will lay down just to show you that there is sufficient room for me to lay in here there's extra space at the top if I require it so it's a great shelter for UK conditions it sheds the winds really well I'll show you now how I set it up this shelter setup doesn't require huge amount of equipment I've got a walking pole which I've got set at 125 centimeters I've got a 3 by 3 DD tarp and 6 tent stakes the first part sailing up I just open up the top over the area where one foot my shelter and then I stake out one loop in on one end of the top so the 10th estate goes one loop in and one loop in form and keep in that section reasonably thought I then take my trekking pole which is set at one point to five meters and I find the center of the top we gently pull it up extensions to the top and once we find where the center pole needs to go and then push the pole into the ground the next stage of find is helpful they're not essential is where the poles meets the center and I just use a tent stake bag I just tie a temporary knot around there you can do that with anything a piece of natural cordage put a string you burn your pocket anything like that I then find the opposite center bit of a top now stake into the ground this allows me to pull the tarp out and PEG out the opposite few loops to that side over there so this is what we have so far as the first two pegs and the second two pegs directly opposite at this point you can remove this more market spot on the top and add a little more tension to pole if you need to now that meets on this occasion one thing I forgot to mention earlier you're going to need two small carabiners for this part so what you do did you find the center of the top you move out one loop on each side and you bring those together and you then clip-on carabiner and with the carabiner you just pull it out and tension out you talk repeat this on the opposite side say find the center go out one loop on either side pull them together and clip with a carabiner you can then our tension let's take down the top stand just a question of tidying up with a little bit a little bit attention at the pegging out point and tucking under the flaps so add a little tension and tuck the flaps underneath [Music] and they would have it the finished XP shelter you can if you want tie out or peg out any additional points but with only six pegs this is a very robust shelter I'll quickly show you how you get in and out so the gain entry to the shelter all you need to do take your carabiner and remove one of the loops then you lift up the top and there's your doorway closing the shelter it's just the opposite really they find the loop which is one in from the center slip it back onto the carabiner then you suck in the flap this can be done just as easily from the inside of the turn so there you go the next peak tarp shelter very easy to put up finally it is a three by three top hiking palm and half-a-dozen tent pegs and two carabiners I just like to finish off with a shout-out for Papa hiker he's the guy that actually designed this tarps help me to show it in one of his videos and if you've seen this channel I'll put a link in the description below he looking really show in great detail how to set it up so I thought I would would show you myself because I'm I think it's a really interesting design really strong in conditions that are living in the UK so I suggest you check out his channel if you like some interesting tarp design soaps so thanks again for watching and I'll see you in the next video
