[Music] [Music] oh holy cow what I've been missing all these years tasty tasty boil pack okay so we have our potatoes and we have our our sausage that we diced up and put that in there and our egg is cooked we also added authentic New Mexico hatch green chile which is what you got to have here in New Mexico when you go to a restaurant and you order chili a common question that you're going to be asked is red or green well I prefer green chili for breakfast and I like red chili for dinner so sometimes I like them mixed up both I usually will get it with both red and green just because I love chili and that's called a Christmas tree Christmas yes so anyway excellent foil pack dinner thanks for the video yeah film it yeah thanks for making it denigrate the time chairs breakfast beer Cheers hello welcome to the Candyman Raj YouTube channel I'm Roger today I'm going to show you how to make a delicious foil pack breakfast New Mexico style we're going to go through all the ingredients and we're going to go through the step-by-step process did I use to put this thing together so stick with us and I'll show you how I do it okay now we're going to go through the ingredients for this delicious breakfast so we have about a cup of frozen hash brown potatoes with some bell peppers mixed in with that and we have half to three-quarters of a cup of smoked sausage be cooked and we have about a half to a teaspoon of fresh minced garlic you've got to have that with your green chili now here we have our hatch green chile you know we didn't have any green chile left in the freezer to use so this was our next option and this is what we're going to use and it is really good so that's where it being chili and then what's breakfast without an egg and then we have about a half a cup of shredded cheese we're going to have salt and pepper to taste and we're going to need two sheets of aluminum foil the first one here will have a nonstick spray on it and I used a nonstick butter flavored spray which will be fine and also over here I have a mixing bowl to mix our ingredients up ok I've showed you all the ingredients now we're going to put all this together and I'm going to show you how we do it we're gonna take our hash brown potatoes and we're gonna put them in here sure we get it all and then we're gonna take our cubed smoked sausage and mix it in with our potatoes get all of that and then we're gonna take our hatch green chile and there you go you get a look good look at that and since we don't have any more in the freezer we went ahead and went to the next best thing and this is roasted hatch green chile and we're gonna probably use about a half a can so we're gonna put that in there like that YUM set that aside so what we're gonna do our next thing is we're gonna add a little bit of garlic because you got to have garlic with your green chile so put all that together like that we're gonna give it kind of a quick mixing and a stir in here get it all mixed up it already smells good you could smell that clean Chile love green chili for breakfast okay we've got that all mixed up we're gonna set this aside we're gonna slide it for a luminol here so you can see what we're doing now we put a layer of butter flavored nonstick coating on our aluminum foil then we're going to take our mix and we're gonna just dump it right here in the middle we're just gonna do it just about like that it looks like a lot and it is it's going to be a good hearty breakfast you know my hands are clean so we're going to take doesn't kind of put it together and we're going to create a basin in the middle like this and then we're gonna take our egg and we're going to take our egg and we're going to put it right in the middle of the basin just like that YUM then we're going to take a little bit of salt pepper of course you're going to do that to your taste I like to use fresh ground black pepper so that's what we're using here and a little bit more salt okay that would be delicious we'll set that aside okay then last but not least we're gonna have our Mexican blend of cheese and it's finely grated and we're gonna take our cheese and just lightly sprinkle over the top now we're gonna use not quite a half a cup but we want to make sure how to play it cheese in there so it's nice and cheesy and gooey you know and we're going to just go ahead and use it all well say okay now we've got this thing put together we're gonna kind of close it up a little bit we're gonna take it and wrap it up nice and tight so that what it is cooking you don't lose any steam or any of those wonderful chilly juices that are gonna be in this oil pot so we're gonna take it and we're gonna wrap it up just like this we're going to seal it well and pull it down we're gonna curl up the ABS nice and tight get the other one nice and tight okay and I always like to put the second layer of aluminum foil just in case rough right in the cooler you don't want your little Chloe get punctured so better off just being safe here so we'll wrap it a second time do it nice there and we'll close off the ends just like that alright we've got this thing assembled and that's the way it's gonna look that's gonna be a hearty meal okay so I've showed you all the ingredients and we've gone through the step-by-step process that I use to put together this delicious New Mexican style foil pack now I keep in mind it does have a fresh egg in it you're not going to want to freeze it you want to keep it in the refrigerator or in a cooler probably no more than two days and then when you do cook it cooking time for me is between 15 and 17 minutes depending on the your calls I like to use hot coals and set your foil pack just a couple inches above the hot coals you should be able to hear sizzling in five to seven minutes when you're that sizzling that means you're on your way to a beautiful morning New Mexico style breakfast so stick with us hopefully the next time you see me and the foil pack we'll be getting ready to put this on for our breakfast and hopefully we can use it open fire we'll keep our fingers crossed that it's not too windy so stay with us okay we're back we've made it to the east mountain area it's Sunday morning and we have prepared our foil pack breakfast meal with green chili so we're going to call it New Mexico style and we have them all prepared showed you guys how to do that the next step is we're gonna put these things on the grill now we have the grill over here and we've had some hot coals that are going and you shouldn't take these things too awful long we're gonna set them on here for about 15 minutes and these are medium to hot coals so we're gonna put them on here and we're gonna let those things cook up real nice thumbs up okay we're about five minutes into these things cooking on the grill and we can hear them sizzling so it sounds like they're cooking up real good in order to get these things to cook up evenly we're gonna we're gonna give them a spin here about 180 degrees kind of something like that and they're good and hot you can feel that heat heat on them so we're gonna spin them around a little bit here and make sure they can cook evenly and you know you can hear that sizzle it sounds good okay so we are about our midway point in cooking these things so we're gonna take them and we're just gonna give them up they're hot and give it a little flip and give this one a little flip and we're gonna let it set like that for another another three or four minutes and then we'll turn it back over and let it finish off and then we'll pull them off the grill and show you what we got okay we have about four minutes left in our cooking cycle here so we're going to just turn these things over one more time and probably give them another 180-degree turn and same as this one on this side and boy they are smelling delicious so we're gonna let those things go for about another four minutes and then we'll pull them off and we'll let them cool off a little bit and we'll show you what they look like okay we've gone about 17 minutes on these breakfast foil packs so we're gonna take them off now and we're gonna put them on our platter here one for each of us and also on the side for New Mexican breakfast to be absolutely tamales heating up too and we'll show that to you as we get to that point but for now we're gonna probably give them about a five-minute resting period so that they can cool off because you're just blistering hot so hang on here and we'll show you what they look like okay so we've pulled these breakfast boil pack New Mexico style off the grill about four or five minutes ago we're letting them cool off a little bit but I think by the touch I think they're ready to go so we're gonna we're gonna open these things up and show you what they look like they really do smell delicious now what we did is we double wrapped them of course and I showed you that so that we can keep all of our juices and steam inside inside the unit here it seems to be doing a pretty good job boy it smells delicious it is blistering hot still nothing like a good hearty breakfast out in the mountains perfect setting for this kind of meal we're gonna look at it here okay so look at that our egg is cooked we have our sausage eggs and green chili and cheese and boy that just looks tremendous and I'm almost certain the other one will look just as tasty so we'll unwrap this one too and of course I got to think map the southwest backpacker behind the camera here in this mountain scene we're gonna each one of us is gonna have a nice hearty breakfast this morning smell smell what I'm smelling right now it's like being at the State Fair if you could smell what we're smelling right now okay so there's the next one and they just look totally awesome so in order to another thing that they're gonna add to our New Mexican style floor packed breakfast is we do have some tamales and you've got those things steamed up looking nice and good and boy they're nice and warm and so we're gonna probably add a tamale each one of these plates just like that and there you go you have an authentic foil pack New Mexican style breakfast delicious okay so we finished our breakfast our foil pack breakfast New Mexico style with authentic hatch green chile it was really tasty what do you think Matt I thought it was absolutely delicious all of the ingredients and everything cooked up just right nice and steamy and was absolutely delicious and pleasant to eat and yeah I would give it a two thumbs up I would definitely eat that one again and highly recommend it nothing like a hearty breakfast cooked over an open fire like that easy to do I would recommend it it was really good and you can add your own little various twist to it but you guys got the basics of it and I just want to say thanks for tuning in to the Candy Man rod youtube channel just keep an eye out from work more
