hey what's going on my name is Eric and in this video I'm gonna show you how to properly reinforce this air conditioning unit into the window so if you got one of these window AC units probably one of the biggest concerns is them falling out well you can see right now as I'm pointing out there are screw holes in most window AC units where you can screw into the window frame one of the difficult parts of this if you have a metal or aluminum window frame you may not want to be screwing directly into it as easily as you can with wood so one of the viewers actually I've reached out to me and what they have is this product it's called the ace brace and what it does is it creates a metal support that connects with pretty much any window AC unit and really reinforces it so that it makes it impossible for this unit to fall out the window so I'm going to show you how this works right now so when you get the product there is these two screws on either end right here and here so what you can do is you can loosen those up with your fingers and then you can pull these out so as you loosen this up what we're gonna do is get the proper size for this particular window all right so we're gonna put it right up against the frame to figure that out so we want to do is put this up against your window frame on both sides so if you have kind of pan over with me here you can see that I'm gonna open this up on both sides here in here and then the next step is to just tighten these screws back in a little bit alright for safety reasons you probably want to work on this not with this inside of the window so I'm gonna take that out and show you what to do next alright so as you can see here I am taking the screw out in the center of the ace brace so that's gonna make it so that we can slide this over top of the flange and as I'm highlighting here notice that the sight accordion wing is removed you may we want to make sure you're doing that before sliding this onto the flange so what we're gonna do here is tighten that Center screw up with an allen wrench and then once that's tightened up we're gonna put the accordion wing back on just sliding it into the side here and then the next step is to make sure that this flange is inside of the ace brace flange here so that's really going to give it a good support so that now say metal structure surrounding that instead of just plastic by butting up against your window they had these little white caps that you can put on for aesthetics just to make it look nice a nice little butt shot there as we're putting it into the window closing the window down on this and then what I'm gonna do here is just open up the accordion wings just to get those tight and then the last step here is just to screw it into the frame so it comes with the screws the caps everything that you need comes with the ace brace here and you can see that I'm screwing this in and this last step I'm going to show you how solid this is with that window up this isn't going anywheres because the structure itself is wider than the frame now and it's bolted right into the frame because of the ace brace so if you're concerned about a second floor window or maybe higher this is a great investment to make sure you're not putting somebodies life in danger by having a loose AC unit so all right guys if you liked the video give it a thumbs up you can find details on ace brace in the description below it was actually created by a guy who does inspections on building facades for a living so it's a patent-pending product thank you to ace brace for sending this out for me to review and again if it's second floor or higher you want to make sure you get that extra support on your window AC unit all right guys good luck and take care
