How To Install A Window To Existing Wall (Framing)

hi Oh today I'm gonna show you how to install a single home window into existing wall [Music] [Applause] my plan is to install two single hung window one on this side and one this side so this is not a white window it's just a single hung it the width is just 24 inches and hang is about 36 but I have to reframe the wall and have to cut some of the stud to fit so before you B start we should put a safety precaution here so I put mass and safety goggles using my glasses [Music] so what I did here is just removing all the studs that's connecting the frame and also removing the nails on it so using my reciprocating saw I need to remove all of that that goes the way [Music] so next thing I will do here I'm going to remove that middle stud and I'm going to measure from side to side so make it 24 by 32 opening one thing is need to consider is to measure an inch and a half off the studs and all the studs are you going to install so make sure add an inch and a half on the right and an inch and a half on the left and add inch and a half on the top and at the bottom so don't forget about that so you can also refer how to frame a window in online just to make sure you get familiar with it [Music] [Music] so let's fast-forward here a little bit just to show you how I did it so in this one here I removed the middle stud and install a Kingston and I installed a header and I made sure a trimmer at the top and at the bottom [Music] all right so basically that's how you frame a window a single hung window on an existing wall so I still have to do the second window but I just want to give you a quick review how I did it after the time lapse so I cut the original I got the original stud in the middle and I put another king stud on this section right here and I put a header I I put a header this is two two by four header and I put the trimmer all the way all the way on that side and goes on this side this section so that's how you frame a single hung window on the existing wall so whatever you doing next is we're gonna they're gonna put a hole on the four corners of the window so when they go outside I will see where the hole is and then I will make two inches more about two inches between the holes to make an opening so let's do it [Applause] [Music] so let's go check it out so here goes my four holes so I know this my four corners of the window and I'll I'll measure two inches from the hole from the center of the hole two inches on the left not just down and do just on the right touches down to make an opening so just start moving so I marked it and that's it's going to be my hole so let's start the game [Music] [Music] [Music] so before we install the window you can install this self protective waterproof flashing membrane Serge's it rains protect the stud a stud and won't go inside the garage and then cut it [Music] [Music] so I just installed the window but dream on four corners on this Russian side you're gonna have to put six but it's already flush and even its level so it's pretty good I'm gonna show you how I screw it outside so here's outside I screw most of I think it's about every six inches that's the corner I leave two inches so I can put a cement on it a stock oh okay I could put a stucco on it before I put a stock oh I'm gonna have to put a brand new a plot like this which I have it I'm gonna make sure I'm gonna flush it and then it all the way around I got a brand new with this so before I get before I put a stucco on it so yeah that's pretty much it all right so at there you have it guys so this is the end result once I put stucco around the window so all you have to do is to hang that stucco so it doesn't look ugly I just look for a paint that matches your color on your wall and you're pretty much done so that's pretty much it man I mean thanks for watching this video I hope you liked it and anybody who finished this video who watch this until the end thank you very much and please make sure to subscribe to my channel and don't forget to like this video and see you next time
