How to Hot Start a Cirrus SR22T

I just finished a long day of flying here in the sr22 turbo and it is hot out see I'm sweating 95 degrees look at the thunderstorms in the area that's awesome Midwest flying but it's been hot start season and I get it they're finicky sometimes they're tricky but I've got this video here I want to show you my hot start technique and if you find it valuable would appreciate a like and a subscribe and leave a comment below on whether you agree or disagree with my technique and I'd love to learn yours anyway enjoy this is a video on how to hot start a very warm sr22 turbo airplane we're in a 20 20 g6 sr22 turbo and one of the first things that I try to do is actually look at hot starting is there's so many different myths different opinions on how to do this this is my personal technique and the kind of a memory device that I use in order to get the engine going is I first look at the oil temperature and see if it's in the green so we just felt down about 10 minutes ago and doing a quick turn it's a really hot day here in southern Illinois and that is certainly a really warm oil so if the oil temperature registers on the green art I'd do a hot start it's not in the green arc I'd do a cold start and the big thing that I try to like just sort out in my mind is that I don't need as much the hotter the engine is the less fuel it needs but the more air it needs so it needs more air than than fuel per moment so the way I'm gonna set this up is we're gonna start up turn on it an avid strobe lights on just set the parking brake and I'm gonna come down to the the mixture in the throttle setting it so I'm gonna go full rich I'm gonna give rather than crack the throttle open like that I'm gonna actually give the engine about to a half open maybe two thirds open so it gets a lot of air we're gonna do that right before if I hit the boost pump now and then try to get the key set up and everything I could start to push all this extra fuel in and that's gonna cause the engine to flood so what I'm gonna do is turn the boost pump on we're gonna crank and crank the engine over and we're gonna hear a false start so a lot of the things that people actually do unvailed hot starts and get themselves into trouble is it gives when they go to start what happens is it the engine you know sputters for a few seconds I think that's the start there let off the starter so you're gonna want to keep pulling this starter through that to get through the false start and then then you can kind of adjust the throttle let the appropriate amount of air in and go from there so let's do that now all right so I'm gonna listen for the boost pump to come on and then I'm gonna watch as soon as fuel starts to get pushed I'm gonna go and go from crank so there it is there's there's the ball start gave it a little jiggle and I come right back once I hear that second start this baby normal shout up here maybe just a little bit higher urban army give it a few seconds [Music] and I can bring it back smoothly running and vital that's a hot start lock
