the second thing and honoring your husband is confront him and love but let God be the enforcer and you know you confront your husband your is equal you have his right do you have a right to tell him anything you want to tell him the question is who's the enforcer isn't you or the holy spirit and so you can sit there and said I said this and this and this and I'm just going to nag you and brow Beach and make your life miserable till you do it my way or you can say this you can say well I've said my piece and I wish you would respect it he needs to respect it because you're is he okay we need to make decisions together no one needs to dominate the home but let's just say that you said your piece and he goes ahead and does it a different way you get in your prayer closet and in your prayer closet is where you pray and say God change his heart in you and the Holy Spirit become partners and you never have to make your husband feel bad you never have to punish him and the Holy Spirit changes them from your heart but you know there is always the possibility that you're wrong and that your husband is right and if you're wrong and you pray about it then God will change your heart but you won't damage the marriage another one is it's called the court principle and that is honor your husband where you want him to be proverbs 31 talks about the excellent wife and it says of her her husband is an elder in the gates of the city it attributes it to her not him her husband is an elder because of her it means she believed he was an elder before he acted like an elder and she treated him like an elder and he rose to that level let me say this it's true in many cases that a man will go to the level of honor that his wife gives him if you tear him down it's a self-fulfilling prophecy he'll begin to act like that if you right if you honor him and elevate him in other words you put enough oxygen in his world he'll elevate to a higher position is that you can dictate to a large degree what your husband does by how much you believe in him and by how you treat him the other thing is focus on his strengths and not on his faults did you know that the devil is the accuser of the Brethren I've heard this said before and it's true there are five ways the devil is always accusing he's always accusing me to God God to me me to myself me to you in you to me because he hates relationships he wants to tear us apart if we're friends any relationship you have with anyone the devil is going to constantly accuse the other person to try to divide the relationship especially marriage and one of the things you have to do to be happily married is to take your thoughts captive because the devil is always accusing you to each other Psalm 149 is an interesting scripture it says take the high praises of God in your mouth and a two-edged sword in your hand that you can execute vengeance on the enemy praise is a weapon against the devil whenever you begin it's hard to depress a person who's praising all the time you can't you can't oppress a person who's praising all the time I defy you to wake up one day and make a decision that says this day all day long I'm going to praise God I defy you to be depressed that day it won't happen the Bible says in Isaiah 61 that God gives us a mantle of praise for a spirit of heaviness a spirit of heaviness depression discouragement praise breaks through all that here's what I'm saying I defy you to praise your spouse all day long and still feel bad about them praise is a discipline that reminds us of what is right with each other and why we fell in love with each other and praise causes positive behavior you walk by your wife all day and call her gorgeous I promise there's a payoff you tell your husband what a hunk he is and how proud you are of him in other words he may be doing three or four eight things wrong but if he's only doing two or three right focus on the things he's doing right you'll be surprised what he begins to do don't let the devil come and constantly accuse your husband to you and get you thinking about and focusing on bad things really and truly when we got married I really was a jerk in a lot of ways and I'm very thankful that you stood up to me and you told me the truth you weren't mealy-mouthed or anything like that but you really did honor me more than I deserved and it really was one of the things that changed me because you didn't become my enemy you became a person that God used in my life to confront me about things that I was doing wrong but you never became my enemy and you never treated me the way that I deserved to be treated and and you've always honored me you know there's a respect there and I'm just saying you meet that need in me and well and I appreciate that but it you know something I had to learn too I mean I would you know study the Word of God or other stories about women and their marriages and I just learned from older women that it really wasn't something it was important you know is how we treat you not only is it important for you but it's important for the rest of family is important for our children to see how I'm treating you you know and it's important for sons to see our daughters just see how to treat their their spouses absolutely well for for all the women watching we want you to know we have a program coming up
