do you guys have a lawnmower that starts and runs perfectly for like one or two minutes and then it dies you let sit for a little bit starts and runs again perfectly fine 1 2 minutes and then dies again that could be a symptom of your fuel tank not venting properly I'm going to show you how easy it is to check this for yourselves to see if that actually is your problem super faster you guys as a matter of fact I'm gonna put this in my fast fix playlist I got a little quick link up here for you in the information button as well as at the end of this video there's going to be some clickable thumbnails there for you to get back to that kind of stuff too so stay tuned for that so fast again guys this is like a half a beer job hey guys welcome back to Steve small ended saloon again thanks for coming back as usual Steve small Laney saloon calm that's my website got another little quick link up here for you in the information button as well as at the end of this video check my website out when you get a chance a lot of fun stuff to do on there so I got a Craftsman lawn mower right here with a Honda engine on it I got a Husqvarna lawn mower right here with a Briggs and Stratton engine on it you run it for one or two minutes and it dies it could be running out of fuel now you say it can't be running out of fuel my fuel tank is rightful to the top it can't possibly be running out of fuel yes it can be and I'm going to show you why right now as best as I can with a couple little props here first of all here's your carburetor so the carburetors got a bowl on the bottom of it that holds some fuel in there that is enough fuel in there to make your lawnmower run for one or two minutes before it runs out of fuel in that Bowl and dies now here's your fuel tank this self fuel tank works on a lawn work you have a fuel level in there as you're using your lawnmower the fuel level starts dropping if there's no air getting into the tank to displace the fuel that's being used it creates a vacuum in that tank where it literally will just stop pouring fuel out of that hose it'll just stop so 99.9 percent if not a hundred percent of lawn mowers out there have the vent that allows the air to get in to displace that fuel the vent is in the fuel cap itself so I'm going to demonstrate to you right now what I'm talking about on this Honda one right here just because I can get my camera in there easier it's a more wide open I could use this Briggs one but it's not going to be as clear so let's go on here I don't actually have a fuel cap that's faulty right now with the camped in there I'm gonna simulate this though by just using my hand so you guys can see what I'm talking about first of all you need a nice clean container we all know the price of fuel nowadays we're gonna be pouring fuel out of the bottom of the tank we want a nice clean container so we can just pour that fuel right back in your tank no more dinars a little pair of pliers what we want to do is take this fuel line off from the bottom of your tank wherever it's convenient for you right here on this lawnmower I'm using right here it's nice and convenient just to take it right off of this fuel shutoff valve so we're gonna do that and the tank is open right now I don't even have a fuel cap on there this is simulating a tank cap with the Vette that's working properly now watch this you just get a nice steady flow of fuel coming out of the bottom there now I'm gonna simulate putting a tank cap on that has a plugged vent watch this the fuel stops running under there almost instantly if that happens to you right there or even if it just slows down quite a bit where it's just trickling out and then you just got a crack the the fuel cap back open not even necessarily take it off just as soon as you crack it back open again if it all sudden boom now starts coming out again you just diagnose that right there that you have a bad vent in your cap your fuel tank is not venting properly your lawnmower is literally running out of fuel how do we fix that then we replace the cap simple is that I got a link on the description of this video to take you back to this exact cap right here this Honda cap they're not expensive they're like 13 bucks or something like that cheap easy way to fix your lawnmower if you guys click on that link and go back and that's not the you want maybe you want this cap when this Briggs & Stratton something like that you still go back to my link and just scroll down to the bottom of that page there's probably a hundred different caps on there you can choose the right one that U is suitable for whatever engine you have on your lawnmower now if you have your cap screwed on nice and tight like that and you pull this off put that on nice and we pull that back off again and it just keeps coming out like that never stops never slows down well at least you just diagnosed that then that that's not your problem and you can move on to something else that maybe is your problem may be the carburetor needs cleaned or something like that I also again I got some clickable thumbnails at the end of this video that you can click on like for cleaning the carburetor and stuff like that so check those out at the end and I think that's it for today guys I hope I helped you guys Oh possibly I saved you guys some money um give me that thumbs up button
