How To Edit PDF? (Easy Guide)

When reading a PDF, you would sometimes
come across a mistake that you want to correct. But with a format such as PDF, it
seems impossible to edit it. Don’t worry! We understand the challenge of editing PDFs.
In today’s episode of tutorials, you will learn how to edit PDFs on your computer in a snap!

Once you have UPDF on your computer, follow me to dive right into the simple steps of editing PDF:
1. Edit PDF Text
Imagine just before submitting your final project
report, you identify a crucial mistake in your PDF file, you spot different typos here and there,
or you may want to add some more information without changing the original contents. No
need to panic, guys! You can simply edit or add any text on PDF document with UPDF
at the convenience of a single click!
Here’s how to do it:
1. First, open the UPDF application on your computer. Upload your PDF document here.
2. In the left panel, click the Edit PDF to enter the editing mode.
3. Move your cursor, select the text to edit it. You can add the content, delete, or edit it!
4. If you need to add text to PDF, you need to click Text icon from the top toolbar. Now,
just move your cursor to the place where you want to add the text to in the PDF document
and click to add a box like this. Type in your text to add new text to the PDF.
And if you want to change the text appearance, you just need to select the text to add
effects like Bold, italic, text color, font style, font size, and align type.
So, this is the basic guide to edit text in PDF. Let’s dive deeper into other editing features.
2. Edit PDF Images
At times, you might spot some mispositioned images
in a PDF file. Or you see an irrelevant image that you want to delete. Whatever it is, you can
seamlessly edit images with UPDF as well.
1. Just enter the editing mode
by clicking on the Edit PDF in the left side panel. Now, your PDF file is
completely editable like a simple Word file.
2. Click on the image you want to edit. Now, you
can see a list of options to edit the PDF images. You can rotate the image in counterclockwise or
clockwise, extract the image and save it to your computer, crop the image to remove the unwanted
part, replace the image with a new one. And if you need to adjust the image size, you can drag the
side of the image. And to move the position of the image, just select the image and drag to move.
Except editing existing PDF images, you can also add a new image to the PDF.
To add a new image to the PDF, in the top toolbar, click on the Image icon, click on the place
where to add your image, now, you will have pop up window for you to upload your image. Once you
add a new image, click to select it, drag to move the position and drag the side point of the image
to enlarge or make it smaller. You can also crop, rotate, and replace it.
3. Edit PDF Existing Links
Links to external files are pretty useful in a
PDF. Viewers can easily view the extra details via t other links. But if you have accidentally
attached the wrong link? Keep your calm because you can easily edit it with UPDF on your hands.
In the Edit PDF menu, all your links are visible with a rectangle. You can click the link and
replace the link with new one. And if you want to change the properties of the link, you can
click on the properties option, change the link type to invisible rectangle or visible rectangle,
update line style to solid, dashed, or underline, choose the line thickness: thin, medium, or
thick. You can also change the border color.
With UPDF, adding new links to PDF is an easy
task. You are allowed to link to specific page or webpage.
To add a new link, in the Editing mode, click Link icon, and drag on the content or image
that you want to add the link on. You get two options. To link to a webpage, you can click “Link
to Web”, enter the link address and adjust its properties. To link to a specific page, you can
click “Link to Page”, enter the page number. Now, you can check the effect by switching to reader
mode, then, click on the link you added.
4.Add and Edit Watermarks in PDF
Watermarks are very important to the PDF, especially for the business documents. UPDF makes
adding watermarks to PDF easily. Just click “Page Tools” at the left side panel, select “Watermark”,
click “Add” at the right side panel, here, you can see three tabs to choose, you can select “Text”,
“Image”, “PDF” per your requirements. As all the settings for these three types are the same,
I will take the Text watermark as an example. First of all, you can choose the direction of the
watermark. Here, I will choose the third option, now, enter the watermark. For example, I enter
UPDF. You can see the watermark appear in the PDF. You can change the text watermark font
type, add underline, change the watermark color, drag the slider in the “Ratio of watermark” to
change the watermark size, adjust its opacity, and choose the tiled watermark type. There
are 8 options of the tiled watermark, you can click on by one to try them, then, pick
up the one you like. After that, you can change the watermarks’ distance and position.
When the watermarks are what you need, you can click “Save” to add the
watermarks to PDF successfully.
After you add the watermarks in the PDF or
when you get one PDF with watermarks, you can edit the watermark by clicking the “Edit
Watermarks” icon. Here, you can change anything about this watermark. You can also delete the
watermarks if it is not what you need or add the watermarks to favorite and
use it for other PDF files.
5. Add and Edit Backgrounds in PDF
The next feature I would like to show you is how to add and edit background in PDF with
UPDF. Same to watermark feature, you need to make sure you are in the “Page Tools” part. Select
“Background” and click “Add”. In the new window, you are allowed to add color, image and PDF as
background. Taking adding color backgrounds to PDF as an example, you need to click on the
background color icon to select the color you like, adjust the background and opacity by
selecting the ratio or dragging the slider. Click the “Save” to save the changes.
6. Add and Edit Footer and Header in PDF
Footer and header are vital to professional
PDF document. With UPDF, you can also add and edit footer and header in PDF at ease. Click
on the “Footer and Header” on the top menu, and click “Add” at the right side panel. Now,
you need to check the layout part. Here, you can find the three options in the first line
are for header and the three ones in the second line are for footer. First of all, choose one
option in the first line. You can write down your header and press enter or you can select date or
the page number. To add the footer, you can select the options in the second line of the layout and
other options are same to the header. If you like, you can also change header and footer’s
appearance like the font type, adding color and underline to the content, changing their
style according to the language of your PDF, adjusting their size and margin.
When you finish all settings, you can click the “Page Range” at the right
top corner to choose which pages you want to add these footers and headers. Then, click
“Save” to add footer and header to PDF.
After adding the footer and header, you can
also edit, delete and add their to favorite.
7. Crop PDF Page
In many cases, you may have one PDF with the page size that does not meet your
requirements and want to adjust the page size. You can use UPDF to crop PDF page in simple clicks.
You can find the “Crop Pages” icon at the left side menu list. Just click on the purple lines
at the four side of PDF pages, you can drag these lines to decide which parts you do not need. And
you can also use the margin controls and cropped page sized to get the accurate crop size and use
the constrain proportions to make sure the page cropped size cannot be changed. If you do not
want to apply these changes to all pages, click on the “Apply Changes” to select the
page range that you want to crop. The, click on the “Crop” to crop the page.
8.Split One PDF Into Several Pages
The last feature you can use to edit your PDF
is to split one long page PDF into several pages. Long page PDF is not easy to read.
And sometimes, you may only want to show specific part of the page to others. So you need
to use UPDF to split it into several pages.
This feature is in the “Crop Pages”. Click “Split”
icon at the top menu. To split the one PDF page with equal pages horizontally, you can enter
number in the equal division for horizon. For instance, here, I add 2 to divide the PDF page
into three equal parts. You can also divide it according to the space, for instance, you
can enter 4 after you clicking “Spacing”, UPDF will divide 4 inches for each part
to split the PDF page. The operations are same for the vertical divisions. If you need,
you can change the default reading direction which will help you change the calculation
direction after entering the number for equal division and spacing.
You can also have option to customize your division. Just click on the “+” icon at the
side of the page to add the division line and drag the division line to the place where you
want to divide, you can repeat the same steps for adding more division lines.
Before splitting PDF page, you can change the page range to apply the changes. Now, click
“Split” to apply the changes.
