hey guys and welcome back to a brand new video now today's video I am really excited to get into and start jumping straight into editing in this style now today's video is gonna be in how to edit like visuals of Julius house go ahead and do like this kind of Photoshop art that I know a lot of you guys have been sending me DMS and stuff do i do photoshop tutorials and stuff of that and lots people wants to know how to edit in this kind of style now first thing I would like to point out before I go any further than this video is Julius does have his own YouTube channel I will put it down below the first link down below in the description and I will put a card up here on the screen so you guys can go ahead and check it out on his channel he does explain he does do some speed errors and he does do some of his own tutorials one of his own stuff so if you are interested on how's it like him it's probably worth going ahead and checking out his own videos cuz he probably explains it in a little bit of a better way than I do on how to edit in his exact style what he actually does so do go ahead and follow him on instagram and do go ahead and follow his youtube page and see what he does now I would be really interested to do with collaboration with him at some point will be really fun but um today's video is just gonna be merely focusing on how you guys can go ahead and kind of get better doing this photo apart lots of people do it nowadays and here's kind of one of the founding fathers I guess of how to do this kind of style of Photoshop editing art he's inspired a lot of people and I've had loads and loads of questions on how to edit like this now once you do a few of these you do get a lot better and you do start and practicing after a while and you do kind of pick up the hang of it and you Duke I don't know roughly what you need to do now before I do jump straight into the video I will say please do go ahead and check out my Instagram its Matthew underscore gkb I post lots of these kind of star photos landscapes portraits and stuff so if you are interested in any of that do go ahead give me fall over there trying to get myself to 5k so it would be great if some of you guys can go ahead and follow me over there if you do have any questions or any comments or anything you want to ask about these videos or websites or anything like that or any problems just please send me a DM or do Prydz pretty much every single person who sends me DM so this is probably the best place to get into contact with me if you do want to really quickly I'm always using LM always on it so do go ahead and get me a follow over here okay so let's just jump straight into today's video now the first thing I'd let's point out is I want to edit in a one his photos I found one just a minute ago and I've bit of lost it here is so I'm trying to edit this photo today so obvious it's not gonna look identical but it's gonna look hopefully as similar as possible once we can to this kind of style now what I would like to say before I go any further do not go ahead and rip off his style and don't go and copy his stuff and identically try come up with their own unique style I've seen lots of people who come up with very similar stuff to him an officer he's inspired them and stuff but and he'll be great if you guys can come up with your own style and of course tag me in your photos and I'm sure he'll probably appreciate you showing the work that you do when you got inspired by him but yeah so basically this is an aim to kind of rip off your style anything but today let's just get straight into how you get this kind of fancy kind of look [Music] okay so I'm just gonna jump straight into Photoshop here now what I've done is I've downloaded a load of photos that I'm gonna go ahead and use to create this look now where you can get these photos from there are a few website but the website I use the most it's called unsplash.com and you basically can download any of these photos you can search for whatever you want and you download them and use them royalty-free now I'm not sure entirely where julia chooses his photos from i think he does occasionally get some from unsplash but he might get them from different places as well but um we'll be using a few photos that I got off unsplash today so we have the person walking in the main shot of the photo so similar to this one here he does you put someone standing in his photos just to kind of give you a little bit of reference to the image this picture of the road here going to the background I'm not sure I think it might be even the same road that he used in his photo but again we'll just be editing it slightly differently then we've got this background here which I'm gonna try and use this to the sky similar to this one similar colors if that doesn't work we'll try and combine it with this sky as well and then this is the mountain here we're gonna try and cut out something from this make ittle bit larger so it kind of matches that kind of look in the background there and then we have some trees that we're gonna go ahead and use just to kind of lie on the side here and we've got some brushes as well we will be using and then I've downloaded this one just in case you want to go ahead and use some of the fog or if you prefer this road or something like that okay so the first thing that I'm gonna start with is cutting out our main character here now firstly this video is probably gonna be quite a long one I'm gonna try and go into a lot of depth and explaining it and stuff and as I go through and but I will say if you do want to know how to do this stuff even better he does sell quite a few Photoshop courses and stuff so do go ahead and purchase one of his courses I'm pretty sure they're very in-depth or more in-depth than this and you probably learn a lot of stuff on that and I'm not entirely sure how much they go for but um go ahead and purchase one of his things if you're really interested in working how to kind of edit in his style so what I'm gonna do to cut out this guy is you can use the quick selection tool but and in this kind of situation I much prefer using the pen tool just quickly go around the the person and then make a selection and cut them out that way so I'm just gonna put a speed this part the video up but essentially just gonna cut around the person make sure your fill is on zero because all visitors tasking bit confusing and just essentially just drank your your pen click all the way around the the image here and this probably takes absolutely ages to do but um obviously needs to be done if you want to go ahead and get an image like this so I'm going to go ahead and do this and speed this part up and I'll be with you guys [Music] okay okay just quickly gum around the the character here with a pencil and what we do is you just get control click and then click make selection feather radius to zero pixels and then come down onto our layer here and I'm just gonna create a layer mask by clicking this button here and then we go to slated our character here now obviously the the edges are really really quite sharp but we can go ahead and use our blur tool in a minute just kind of make this a bit softer but now what I'm gonna do is I'm going to cut up a little bit okay and then same again ctrl click make selection feather radius to zero and then I'm selecting my brush tool put it on black and then I can essentially just brush out that area there okay now there's press command D if you're a mac or control-d I think is if you're on a PC and there we go you've now cut out your main character know what I always recommend is trying to name all your things to keep yourself organized you can go and delete those two layers there and just you can tell where everything is basically okay so there we go we've now cut out our main character here so we're gonna put in put an hour of Road kind of in the photo here now so you can kind of see start getting the image to look more like what we wanted to look like now we'll see if you guys do go ahead and check out his own YouTube page and just like leave a comment saying you came from our count whatever and just let me know it came from us would be great now in order for me to kind of get similar to this look what I'm gonna do is try and reference where roughly the point of the road will not do so this is the center of the image here so I kind of on the bring a little bit below the center of the image probably to about there I'm just gonna basically just drag it up and like that that should do quite nicely similar look and to fit I think this is might even be the exact same photo that he used in his photo but obviously I don't wanna say that for sure but I'm pretty sure that's yeah I'm pretty sure that's the same photo anyway and so what I've done now is put that in like that so we've now got our our person walking down in the foreground I'm gonna label this road then what I'm going to do is I think what we'll probably want to do now is focus on doing we can either go ahead and do the show I'm just trying to think out loud too but I think what we can do now is try and think about putting the trees in and then the sky in the background so what I would like to do now is show you guys quick technique that I know on how to go ahead and set all these trees because obviously you won't going to do this with a quick selection or anything and just kind of cut those out a bit so we can kind of get a white background here so what we can do is we can select our road here come up to select come down to color range and then this is gonna give us our eyedropper tool click where the sky is supposed to be and as you can see immediately that selects everything that's in that kind of color range I'm just gonna kind of increase the fuzziness a little bit maybe not too much something like that just so I can really I'm looking down here the trees obviously I've got the mountains here but I'm just going to duplicate this and just flip it across so that'll probably do for me click OK now that's going to create a selection like that now what I'm gonna do again is click create a mask like that now I'm gonna invert it British command I now as you can see down here it hasn't fully painted in all the selections off the road as you can see if I put that into white I can kind of rub back in some of the roads so what I'm gonna do is put my brush on white and increase the brush size and just kind of brush back in the road because it hasn't fully selected because also some parts of the road are quite white so once you've brushed all that part back in what I'm gonna do now is you can see if I turn on a different layer underneath you can see it's cut out the treaty's quite nicely so what I'm gonna do now is show you guys what I do to go ahead and just duplicate this side here and put over here just kind of get rid of all the mountains so first off I'm gonna select my brush tool again put it on black so press X just put my foreground color to black and then I'm just gonna quickly just brush over these trees here obviously this is not the best way of getting head and doing a straightaway because that's really kind of soft focus here really soft dropped out but one ideas on the show you the technique that he uses quite a bit and I take me that you guys can go ahead and use and I'm going to use as well so once you've brushed all that out quite nicely like that I'm just gonna really just tighten up a little bit more and make sure we get rid of all those mountains in the background I'm just going to go over those bits as well now I know it's straight away that looks pretty awful but what I will do now is show you the technique that he uses and that I use as well now the first thing you could do is you can go ahead you can just duplicate this layer and just drag it on to this side that will probably work a little bit but it won't work super well because of so you've only got a few trees and it's gonna look really for appetitive what I like to do is I've downloaded I've got a few brushes downloaded onto my laptop here but I downloaded this brushes like a tree brush okay so I've downloaded a trees brush and essentially what it is you can get load of these for free I'm online somewhere but I'm it this one has got a lot of different trees and stuff so this is a like a pine trees kind of looking thing I've got a pine tree looking here and since what I'm gonna do I'm going to choose a primary I think this one's probably gonna be good for what we need it for so I'm gonna do that put on brush now in order for me to go ahead and brush this properly and you can see if I click it's gonna go ahead and put the shape of pine tree in there now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna zoom in and and all we really want is just the tip of the tree here and we can put that on black and make sure our pasties on a hundred percent so we're gonna put our foreground color on white and our fast a on 100% and then you can just go ahead and you can just kind of click in the tip of the tree here so obviously you're gonna have a very repetitive looking image here if you go ahead and do this so you will probably want to go ahead and change up and the brush you use i've seen in a few of his videos he does also kind of flip the tree around so he kind of puts it in upside down so kind of rotate it like this and then kind of cut in backwards like that hopefully with black so you can cut in and stuff like that so just a few techniques on going how he makes sure his trees look kind of tree like as opposed to just like faded out brush so this is how I'd recommend going ahead and doing as well obviously do go ahead and use multiple different tree brushes because them otherwise you're going to look of get a very repetitive looking forest but um I'm going to go ahead and do this go ahead and just click through and until we get something that I like to look off [Music] so as you can see I've just quickly gone ahead and I've brushed in some trees on the right-hand side here so very similar look I think - I think you look - that you'd kind of think that those are trees I'm hoping so anyway so if I turn on like this background layer here of this of the sky and put up against it you can see that it's completely cut out there and you can kind of just look at that and just tell those the trees so and that's the kind of look I'm going for so I'm going to go ahead and I'm gonna do it again on the other side okay so what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna click on this image I'm just gonna click command J and that's gonna duplicate it they won't um do isn't gonna come up to help them didn't I'm going to flip flip this one horizontally and it's gonna put those trees essentially on the other side here I'm just gonna come up and set my brush tool put the foreground color on black coming to my layer mask change my brush back to like a simple basic brush because I don't want to be brushing out trees now I'd want to be roughly getting rid of those like the duplicate sections over here on the right hand side it doesn't matter what brush it is I can always go ahead and change the hardness and stuff but change to black and then I sort of rub out that section I just duplicated across is really quite noticeable so between use the hard brush tool here then I'm gonna go ahead and change my hardness down to 0% okay so I'm just gonna rub this off essentially until we kind of get into the tree layer because obviously the road is not symmetrical even though it might look like it is it's not so I'm trying to get the road back to where I wanted brush into the tree line here and then they essentially duplicated that section off the tree line across onto the left hand side now obviously down here we've still got that faded bit but um we can go ahead now and come back and say it's one of our brushes so the tree brush again rotated to that side decreases size and now what I'm going to do is I'm going to put that to white so press X and then just come back and just go ahead and you can see now if I just brush in some of these trees back into this section down here and then essentially what that looks like already in the background is am like some mist but you know that works pretty well I think so pretty much done there I think with the trees I've done quite a good job what I think I'm going to do is this little tree is sticking out over the top I don't particularly look off so I'm just gonna use mob use my brush tool here and just kind of try and get rid of that that's on this layer here isn't it so brush that out essentially so now if we compare that to visuals of juices image you can see already we're getting pretty much halfway there in terms of the look of the image the next part of the image I'm going to go ahead and line up some sky in the background so this is one I'm gonna use you see these nice clouds and stuff he's got a very similar kind of look in this image here obviously not identical and I'm gonna use this kind of generic blue kind of background here just for our sky so drag that across and just kind of increase the size until we kind of get rid of the mountain to the background put that central so the sunburst is kind of the background there okay now we've got very nice erm sky in the background essentially it's pretty much already done turn on this layer here do the same thing press command T and now I'm doing the press shift and then just drag this out it doesn't particularly drag mine up as well just kind of fit it all into the image it doesn't really matter if you stretch the clouds a little bit because after all there are any trout's you know really gonna notice that they've been all distorted and there we go that's pretty much done I think that's looking all quite nice and you can see already here around the trees obviously it's cut out perfectly now what I want to do is essentially blend in these two images so we've got this dark blue section up here which I think I might kind of bring in a little bit more of that just so we can blend the two in a little bit better I want to blend that dark blue section up there with the dark blue of the image down below so I'm gonna create a layer mask and the very simple are doing this is just click your brush put it into black change your brush to a basic brush something pretty large make sure your hardness is on zero you can use the closed square bracket tool just to increase the size and then essentially just brush out the sky here the one thing you can do is change your brush opacity down to about 20 percent or something and then just kind of brush over the sections that overlap we're using the the black and the white foreground colors just kind of blend the two together so now I've done the black I'm gonna put it back onto white and just kind of nicely blend the two images back so they look kind of like they blend naturally into each other obviously if you get any hard lines like this put it into black and you don't want any hard lines like that but that is a pretty much blended together I mean we can go ahead and blend them even better together when we go ahead and use our adjustment layers later on okay so that is pretty much the background and the trees done so you can see done the sky and the trees and the person walking down the road we're gonna put in the the mountain here and then we're gonna get ready to start blending everything together okay so first of all Paulo geez if this video is pretty long I'm at the moment I think it's about half an hour long but I'm gonna go ahead and try and adjust things and speed up a little bit for you guys but I'm trying to go into a little bit of depth so you guys can see roughly the edging technique on how to go ahead and head it like this now bugling D for the mountain is only used this mountain here and I'm just going to try and just really just increase the size quite drastically in the background like this now obviously this is not going to look identical to Jesus's image because I'm using a different set of images and stuff but put that behind the trees and stuff and there we go we have our mountain sitting in the background now what we can do to cut this out is we're going to use the quick selection tool so I'm click W or click on the quick selection tool up here and then I since you just brush over the mountain I should do a pretty good job because it's quite different to the sky so there we go I've now selected the mountain I'm gonna do the same thing again stick my mask tool and it's cut out the mountain pretty nicely for us that now what I am gonna do over is because I do want the mountain to be sitting in the middle like this like Jr's was is I am going to do some nifty editing techniques to kind of make it look a little bit better so I'm gonna put it there like that now obviously down on the bottom left here we don't really have any mountain to play with okay so in order to make the mountain a little bit more or make sure there's more of the mountain to play with I'm just gonna create a selection like this do ctrl click and then fill and then make sure it's on content-aware and then click OK okay so once it's done that you're gonna want to come on to your your layer mask here and select your foreground color to white since you just kind of brush that section in because all the states not been brushed in properly so once you've done that you can click command D and just get rid your selection and now you can see it's kind of added in a chunk of rock so what we're gonna do now is we're since you're just gonna go ahead and just use our brush tool just to kind of brush in where we think the rock should go sorry my computer is lagging a bit it's kind of handling quite a few things at one time front screen recordings don't send your laptop but I'm just kind of bear with me while I kind of get this mark trying to do this okay so what I'm gonna do now is since you just decreased my brush size and essentially just rub in what I think the mountain should look like and what I want it to look like now obviously I want it to be this far out at the moment so okay so what we can do now is just work our way down the mountain I want to make it look a little bit more jagged looking so just essentially just rub in what you want it to look like now obviously we've got some snow on this mountain so I don't really want the snow to be on the top if that makes any sense and but just basically just muck around this is the fun part you can kind of just play around and make your mountains or your images look whatever you want them to look like because you kind of are in control on making sure it looks like what you want so once you've done that descent you just rub out all this section here okay so now I've just kind of given my mountain a little bit of different shape to what we're actually looks like so now if I compare that to his image actually looks very similar which is a little bit creepy but there we go we've now got a mountain that works in the background now if I had more time I'd probably go ahead and use the snow different image than this one because it's looking very flat not really sure this looks a lot more like 3d his mountain that he's chosen but well work that we've got and so there we go we've basically done that that whole thing there now what I am going to do is one last thing is putting some some fog down here and some of these which colors these stars and then we're gonna go ahead and start blending things together so what we're gonna do is we can name this one mountain keep ourselves organized and then this one clouds and then this one sky I don't think we need that one we can just get rid of that now okay so now what we're gonna do is we're gonna put some I think we could put a shadow in start bending together pen up and the fog ends there the stars in to make sure it all kind of works okay so firstly if you look at his images he kind of chooses a light source so we can do the same thing we're gonna put a light source kind of at the end of our road here so light source down here and then he kind of works out where everything's how everything's gonna be lit so we says you want to make everything quite dark so before we do that though I am gonna show you guys a really easy way of just going ahead and putting a shadow below your your main character so you just create new laughs put your brush on hardness it's probably about 70% 50% and then since what you want to do is really just kind of brush in a shadow so I'm gonna take my pasty down a little bit just so I can work a little better home put my hardness back down to zero percent actually and and now what you can do is just since you just just rub in just below his feet where the shadow should be now obviously when someone's walking or when someone's making a shadow the shadow is gonna be a lot darker right by their foot so right the way down here and then as it goes on further away from them the shadow is going to be a lot lighter so you can see here he's got the shadow kind of coming away from him you need to think about where the light is coming from so if the light is coming from right the way down here your shadow is gonna be want to be quite long and facing kind of the opposite direction of the light source so we're gonna do that we're going to kind of brush out our shadow one thing I like to do is just click and hold down shift and now just basically click a straight line find that quite useful when you're just trying to do a long shadow like that that's got to be kind of straight looking now also doesn't have to be perfect because we're gonna blend all this in together later on but just to make sure it looks good just make sure you can spend a bit of time on it and try and make sure it looks decent hey so what we're gonna do is just enable that shadow and then put that one into a group and call that character now what we can do is we're gonna create a and adjustment layer for curve so contact it just notice and click curves and if you hold down alt and you can clip it to the layer below so any adjustment you make on this it's just gonna be adjusting the character so now we're gonna do is we want to basically create this image to look quite dark like he did so we're gonna bring down on mid-tones like that and then we're gonna put in some fade so drag up the fade here and maybe brighten up the shadows cause actually no we're gonna darken down the shadows a bit now we've got a bit of highlight in front of his face so what I do want to do is just make sure that highlights quite bright and just bring up those highlights just there I mean no see we haven't really got any information there but I just do that we've now got a lot better I think that's gonna work quite well so we compare that to the look of his character blends in quite nicely now what we can do as well it's gonna do the same thing for the road and the trees create a new layer come down to curves and again hold down Paltz clip it to layer below and we do the same thing we're gonna drag down the mid-tones just to make the image really quite dark bring down the shadows as well just make it really quite dark and then I want to basically put in a load of fade if you put look at his images he's got lots of fade going on and here's as well so we're trying to get a similar look so anything like that I'm gonna bring up those highlights really make the highlights quite bright because obviously forgot a light source it's gonna be brightening up just very select areas so just like that maybe bring bring those mid-tones down a bit well it's quite nicely with the image obviously I've got to make the image look quite dark so spend a bit of time trying to make it look perfect okay so I think that's going to be probably as best as we're gonna get it we'll probably put some brightness adjustment to it as well but already that's looking a lot darker so if I turn that off and on that's already blending in a lot better especially the character now what we're gonna do is I'm going to create a new layer it's going to be brightness and contrast and clip that to the layer below as well and now I'm just gonna bring down the brightness of the image as well I probably bring up the contrast a bit close that okay so now that's looking an awful lot better is everything's a lot darker do the same thing for the the mountain toasty because that's really standing out quite obvious now so again clip that to layer below and the same thing dragged down the mid-tones just to make it look a lot darker fade out those shadows and just like that bring down those highlights as well fade out those highlights okay something like that I think we're looking pretty good now so already we've kind of blended in the whole image it's already looking like a nighttime scene now what I would like to do point out at this point in time is we will go ahead and kind of put in a light source in a second but I am gonna go ahead and try and make the sky look a little bit better because it doesn't blend in so well so I am gonna create a new layer this hue and saturation and pin that to the sky layer down here and I'm gonna come in - I think there's Blues in the sky there and I try make the basically bit more bluey up more pink so it matches the image below us now I might put that on master and probably just adjust the whole thing okay so that's already looking a little bit better I'll take down the saturation tiny bit pretty bring up the lightness just kind of blend everything in and there we go that's pretty much what I was looking for bending the sky with the clouds what I will do though is create a layer above my clouds that's going to be curves pin that to the clouds as well and then do the same thing I said she just want to darken off those clouds and try and fade them a bit essentially we want to be making the whole image look like it was taken at night so it's a nighttime scene it's quite difficult to do if you've got all of your images you've used our daytime team images but as you can see already that's looking a lot closer to his his look here okay so once we've done that I'm just going to kind of put these all in there in their groups so that's the character let's just close that up okay so there we go that's pretty much done now what we're gonna do now is we're gonna come into our sky layer create a new layer and we're gonna brush in some budget autumn stars now I've downloaded a star's brush here so but we go onto the internet somewhere download a free stars brush click OK and then select your stars brush here change your foreground color to white obviously you want you'll start with white make sure you're a pasty is on 100% and then just as you just brush in some stars pretty easy pretty simple job to go ahead and do make sure your size changes you don't just do tiny style just massive stars okay so once you have some stars in there obviously your stars won't be showing through your trick your clouds like this so what I like to do is create a layer mask now change my brush back to a simple basic brush and put my foreground color on black and then just brush out all the stars that I don't think he wants in the image because I see your stars won't be shown through your clouds so you don't want any kind of looking through your clouds okay so once you get your stars what you can do is you can put a glow on them as well as you can double click click on outer glow obviously don't make your size that big but probably to about size to something like that and bring your opacity down and you can make your stars essentially twinkle a bit make them glow so he looks like he might done that in a few stars he might've used natural stars from these actual images but I don't really like using glow in mine but you can't do you want to sew their gate we've now got some stars in our image okay so the next thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna add in this light here and some fog in the background here as well and we also want to define a light source behind the mountain we can do the same point we're gonna do it above the tree here and then we gonna do the final color grade and blend everything perfectly together okay so now we're gonna do is we can come down to our road and we're gonna create a layer that's essentially behind our trees so here should be pretty good set our brush tool now the way I like to create one of these like point all these light sources is first of all just get your brush to a pretty large size make sure your opacity is on a high percent and your hardness is on zero but get your brush pretty large and just brush in some white just like this now obviously at the moment that's looking a little bit weird but it's essentially just a prayin of brighten up in the background there just to show that that bit is lit up by a light source now I'm gonna put that into soft light just to kind of softly lighten it up but not make it blend glaringly obvious you can also put into overlay if you want I prefer soft light for these kind of images it kind of makes more misty and more foggy and then what I like to do is create a new layer and come up here and just click once or twice just to give it a big white dot like that come to my colors and then bring it down so like the the yellowy orange kind of side of things around here and click OK create a new layer and do exactly the same place but just click once and then put that into like overlay or soft light something like that soft light might also work better on this and maybe put the white into soft light probably nice you know we'll just leave the white in normal now that creates a kind of a light source at the end of the road and obviously doesn't look exactly like here's does because his is a lot smaller and but we want our zigs well to be kind of in front of the road if you if you will so we're gonna decrease the size by just transforming it okay so we're gonna put that behind the road and we're just going to decrease the opacity just a small amount because it's a little bit too bright it's darken off a little bit now what we're gonna do is we're gonna create a new layer with our brush tool similar thing to last time but the white so we can do the same thing again put a foreground color on to white and just kind of try and blend in this light source into the background here a little bit so just do something like that that works quite well I think and then I'm gonna do exactly the same again but with the orange color and back up to orange and then just do one simple brushstroke like that just to get the orange color in make sure is there yeah okay and then I'm trying to decrease the opacity of the white a little bit just we can see more of that orange through there now you can see already we've got that light source at the end of the road obviously it's looking a little bit strange at the moment because then we haven't got any fog or anything just kind of reflect it but what I like to do now is kind of close the app and create a new layer above it that's not like a clipping mask we don't want to be clipped to it and this is just gonna be some fog so what you can do is there's a couple of ways of doing this and I suggest doing you one of three ways essentially one way that works quite well just to do a simple fog just to kind of brush in is just to get your brush tool and just just really lightly just kind of brush over the tips of the trees here like this now obviously that's not looking very foggy at the moment I've decreased their passage $0.12 so I can just put in blobs of fog essentially but what we do want to do is just try and make it look like this light over here is being bounced around through some fog now you can I have got a fog brush that you can go ahead and use you can also render some clouds and go ahead and use that as well and that also works quite nicely but I find this is one of the best ways doing it just to really over time just brush in some fog patches kind of want it to be more foggy down where the trees are down that end and then just kind of blend it all in like flats okay so that's looking like it's pretty foggy down the other end there now what you can do is clip that to the layer below if you want to but I'm not gonna do that just to make like that and I'm gonna take my pasty down a little bit so it's not super obvious that I've brushed in some fog and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to create a new layer and I'm going to come up to filter come down to render and then click on clouds so this is essentially going to be rendering some fog that we can just kind of apply to the image without using a brush tool okay so what I like to do now is put that into screen click screen there that's going to send to get rid of all the black parts of the image come to filter click on blur Gaussian blur or Gaussian blur increase the size surrounding and why is lagging so much probably not too much maybe to about 30-40 I don't mind blowing out tons and click OK then come to filter come down to blur and then I like to click motion blur and then I like to kind of stretch out my fog sideways something like that about 400 just kind of stretch out a bit looks quite good in my opinion and then what we want to do is we want a perspective like transformers perspectively so I just search perspective and then select your corners and essentially just drag it out like this now I like what how this works because it kind of makes it look a little bit like the fog is kind of disappearing into the distance but I'll see you don't have to do that if you don't want to but that's the way I like to do things and then click command T and then just kind of hold down command or something and just bring it in like that okay then I want to take the opacity right the way down put it about twenty-eight something like that and get my brush tool create a layer mask make sure my foreground is on black probably put my pasty up to about 30 or something and just since you just brush out where I don't want the fog to be showing this is just really add some atmospheric look to the image and obviously don't overdo the fog because you can really tell if someone's putting a load of fake fog to the image but it just kind of adds a little bit to the image so I turn that off and on you can see it definitely adds something to the image okay so there we go we're kind of getting closer to the look now what I am gonna do is come down and create a new layer this is below the like basically in the background here below the trees and stuff and I'm going to select my my fog tool that I downloaded okay so now what you do is when you create a new fog layer and it's gonna brush in some fog using one of my brush tools or brushes that you can download online there's loads of them you can get them for free and just put in a little bit of a Google search for some free fog brushes so we're gonna try this one here and put our foreground color on white and then just come in the background and then we're just gonna click a few times and it should put on a pasty up a lil bit higher to about 80% and as essentially just gonna brush in some fog looking clouds just into the background just to make it look a little bit more atmospheric now it's probably switch out the tool the brush tool you use because obviously um you don't want all the fog patches to look identical okay so then once you've done it I'm just gonna create a layer mask and just essentially just take it back a bit because obviously each time you do this you're adding in more white and it will start to overdo the image so you just kind of brush it in and then just create a layer mask and then brush it out again and just keep tweaking until you get the look that you that you want that works well with the image okay so that is essentially all the fog done for the trees and what I'm going to do now is I'm going to create some fog behind the mountain just or just put some light behind the mountain because it's looking a little bit a bit fake so just increase the brush size and then just do the same thing just kind of brush inside the mountain so you can't really see the edge of the brush but I'm just kind of lighting up the back of the mountain just like that it just kind of helps blend everything together I find so there we go that's pretty nicely done what I'm gonna do now is I'm going to create a new layer I think and then we're gonna do some pretty much some final blending but we can pair that to his image here and you can see we're getting something pretty similar obviously ours doesn't look identical because he uses different mountains and different trees and stuff but now what we're gonna do is we're gonna go ahead and try and blend the entire image together so I'm gonna create a new layer at the top here Slate's B and put it onto black and I'm basically gonna create my own vignette now lots of people do this I know he definitely does it I do it as well and quite a lot of my images I just brush in my own kind of vignettes now I like to do it on a lower pasty so I can kind of go over it and smoothly blend it all in together I just kind of darken the edges so your eyes get drawn to the light source at the end of the road and do the same up here with the sky just kind of put in a bit of a vignette around the edges of the sky just kind of make the edges look a little bit darker okay so I'm just saving the document here and we're pretty much done I think what we can do now is we're just going to create some new adjustment layers over the top and then hopefully try and blend the whole thing together so it's ready to be uploaded onto something like Instagram now my computer is lagging pretty badly at the moment so I'm gonna try and see if I can go through and get this done without my computer crashing I think the moral of the story is don't use a laptop to film all these videos in anyway so what wants to just condense a layer mask here one of the curves and I really want to kind of bring the viewers attention to the end of this road here so I'm going to click once or twice with my black brush and just kind of bring the opacity up low I just kind of bring the attention to the end of the road it will hopefully brighten up the that part of the image I think that's probably a little bit too much actually putting the brush size a little bit smaller just kind of brush out those regions of like the tone curve I did and all these adjustments just so the end of the road is quite bright something like that okay that looks pretty good in my opinion right so I think we're basically ready to go one thing I am going to do though is I think my mountain is far too bright so I am going to do some finer adjustments there we go so I think I'm pretty much almost done so now I'm gonna do is I'm just going to close everything up and I'm just going to come right up to the top here I'm gonna create one last new layer Slate's be put it onto white and then put a click in the middle here that's just going to put a big flare over the top of everything and I'm gonna put that into soft light or overlay and see which one works best soft light yeah so soft light it's pretty good and then I'm gonna bring down the opacity that's again always focusing the attention of Ewing the viewers attention down to the end of the image then I create a new one changed to black and just darken off right off the edge of these the road here with my brush tool this is again just more techniques just to really push the viewers attention right the way down to the end of the image now obviously that's pretty dark so I'm not gonna leave it just like that I will take my pasty down probably to about 50% something like that okay cool so I think I'm pretty much ready now to create a new adjustment layer so we're gonna create a new adjustment layer for curves that's gonna be for the entire image now over everything so we can kind of blend the entire thing together so what I like to do is take down the mid-tones he'll also take up the the shadows and kind of put in a lot of fade into the image drop down those shadows a bit more maybe put some bring up those highlights a bit and then fade out those highlights bit as well you don't want those to be super bright drop your mid-tones a bit as well bring up those shadows okay so this is ours and this is his at the moment you can see looking very similar I'm liking the way this looks what I am going to do now though is create a new adjustment layer for our hue and saturation there's going to be applying to everything of the image as well and just kind of adjust the hues of the entire we don't ever these look a little bit more purple just like that come down to my greens and have this will adjust the trees a little bit okay I'll come to the scions and I'm gonna put bring those signs down a little bit so once you've made those few minor adjustments with the huge saturations what I think he does as well as he puts a gradient over the entire image so you're gonna want to select much gradient you want to use I think he uses this one but I think he'll bring his his shadows to morph to like a kind of a bluey teal kind of color something more round here and then click OK then ok on that and bring our fill down to about three four percent I think just kind of apply that across the entire image just make a look a little bit more uniform no complier Brants and contrast layer across the entire image probably bring up the brightness a bit and put up that contrast a bit as well and there we go guys I think now it's pretty much the entire image done blended in pretty nicely I think we've definitely got a very similar look to his photo here so that is the end of the video guys I really hope you enjoyed it if you did leave a massive thumbs up and I'd love to do some more videos like this again as I said the beginning the video do go ahead and check out his channel and when do go ahead and follow him on Instagram he posted some pretty amazing stuff then the guy's got some serious imagination so do go ahead and check out all this stuff that he does and but I hope you've learned something from this video and I hope you did I mean kind of enjoy it if I did I could continue on doing some more things like brushing some more highlights on the road here and on the mountains and stuff and kind of tweaked a little bit more but again all that is more personal preference but you get the idea that is roughly how he get my gets this kind of faded fancy kind of look to his image so once again I really hope you enjoyed it if you did leave a massive thumbs up do go ahead and check him out on Instagram and of course if you could go ahead and give me a follow that would be absolutely fantastic and I'll see nice one guys live long and prosper
