hadley what are we gonna draw today a puppet santa yeah we're gonna use the same steps that we use for our folding surprise lessons but this time it's gonna be a little puppet when we're all done yeah it's gonna say ho ho ho mary cookie day i love cookies we hope you're gonna follow along with us what did they need for this lesson a micro or something to draw with some paper and something to color with yeah all right let's start we're first gonna fold our paper in half we'll take the top edge hold it down to the bottom and line it up and then crease it down the middle and then out to the corners then we're going to take this top flap fold it up to the top also crease it then we're going to take our paper flip it over and we're going to repeat that same step fold it up to the top edge and crease it now we're going to take that last step and we're going to unfold it and then flip it back over because we're drawing with markers and we don't want the marker to bleed through the paper and get onto our table we're going to use scratch paper underneath you can use whatever color you want we're just going to use red so it's easier to see our paper it matches the tape that too all right now we're going to use our markers and we're going to draw santa's head we're going to draw half of it above the fold and half of it below the fold so first step we're going gonna do is draw a u-shape we're gonna start over here on the edge this is for the top of his beard so we're gonna make sure that this is above the fold and it's a wide u so this is the his mustache that's above his mouth yeah good job now we can draw his nose we'll draw it right in the middle a little oval shape his nose is like pink because it's always cold yeah it's always cold yeah then we're going to draw a circle over here for one eye and a circle over here for the other eye we want them to be the same size then let's draw a small circle in the top right of each of his eyes and we can also draw an even smaller circle in the bottom left this will make his eyes look super shiny these are little highlights we're gonna color in the big circles black but leave these two little circles white now we're gonna draw the bottom of his hat we're gonna draw a little curve that goes over his eyes and connects on both sides of the u yes and i went past the u on both sides also this is so that we could draw his beard and we're going to draw another u shape but we're going to come below the fold and we can come back up here to the other side we're going to go over the fold and then connect back on the right side here's a really big beard he does yeah good job and then now let's draw his ear i'm gonna draw a c-shape and a backwards c on the right side now let's draw his hat his santa hat we're gonna start here we'll draw a line that comes up from his ears both sides and it can come up a little higher this is the little fluffy part that's on the bottom of his santa hat yeah then we're going to connect these two lines and look at this the curve that i'm drawing matches the first bottom curve and we'll also want to make sure we have room up here for the rest of his hat we don't want to get too close to the top edge i'm getting kind of close we're going to draw the top of the hat now we'll start over here and i'm gonna draw a line that curves up like this over and i'm gonna stop on this side well maybe come down a little bit there we go good oh i like how far you came down i'm gonna do that too i'm gonna come down further okay now let's draw the other side of his hat we'll draw a small curve that comes up and we don't want to connect we want to leave a little space there we're going to draw another line that comes out of this curve and gets really close to touching the big curve that came over yeah now we're going to draw a circle to connect these two lines this is for the big pom-pom at the end of his hat and we could also give him little eyebrows what should we draw next his body his body okay let's start here right below the fold we don't want to go above the fold i'm going to start here and we're going to draw a curve that comes down and out further so that has a round belly yeah he has a because he loves to eat cookies yes he's drink lots of milk this is true now we can also draw his arms i'm going to start here on this side and i'm going to draw a curve that comes out on both sides yeah and then we can connect that into his body with another line or curve then we could draw the little fluffy part i'm going to draw a short line that comes out right right at the bottom of his arm his sleeve we're going to draw the puffy part just like at the bottom of his hat draw another curve coming down and then connect that into his body i'm going to do the same thing over here short line longer line down and then connect it into his body and then i'm going to just draw a curve that connects to the bottom of the paper this is for his gloves and or his mittens i'm gonna do the same thing over here he has big gloves on this side yeah now right here in the middle let's draw his belt i'm gonna draw a short line up over and then back down and if you have room we're getting really close to the edge of the paper army i'm going to draw the inside of the belt yeah and then we can draw his belt coming out of the buckle and connecting to the side of his body and do the same thing on the right side now let's draw the fluffy part on the inside of his coat draw a line down and then we're going to draw another line over here and over here on the right side all right we drew our santa let's do one more thing before we unfold let's add his mouth i'm going to draw a line that comes all the way over and it's going to follow the fold so even part of it is on the fold so you can draw some of the line on top of the fold and some of it below the fold that way when you open it up you can see his mouth at the top and also the bottom his his mouth is going to be really big so you're gonna need tons of cookies yeah tons of cookies and candy now that our paper is unfolded we're going to connect the side of his beard so start up here at the top and draw a line that comes all the way down and connects oh my goodness that's a long skirt big mouth santa it makes a funny folding surprise too but it's going to be awesome using him as a puppet he's gonna connect the right side too he's gonna have cookie crumbles in his beard yeah and his beard now let's connect his mouth i'm gonna draw a line that comes down from the outside of his mouth down to the bottom of his mouth down here and we'll do the same thing on this side now we're going to draw the inside of his mouth let's draw his bottom teeth first i'm going to draw i'm going to go halfway up or kind of close to the middle fold and i'm going to draw a line on both sides and then he's going to have square teeth we're going to draw another u shape it comes down curves around like this and then back up and connects to the other side now let's draw his teeth we're gonna start here in the middle now this is the top of his teeth so we're gonna start here and draw a line right down the middle then let's draw a line on both sides and then let's draw another line over here and over here and we should be at the corner of our mouth okay then let's draw maybe three lines going up on the left side and we'll draw three lines on the right side okay let's repeat that same step up here on the top we're gonna draw a line here and over here on this side then we're going to draw an upside down u that goes up around and then connects down on the other side these are the top teeth then we're going to draw a line right down the middle we're going to repeat the same steps that we drew down here so we'll draw another one on each side and then another one and then another one yeah and then you should be in the corner and then we'll draw how many d did we do three on the side two three okay we'll do the same thing over here one two three okay now let's draw the tongue down here at the bottom i'm going to draw a big u-shape like this right in the middle of his teeth we should draw a cookie in this mountain oh we should you could add lots of things you could add cookies or candy or maybe a carrot a carrot that would be cool and a candy cane so oh yeah candy cane now let's draw the top of his tongue we're going to draw two bumps to connect over to the other side now we're gonna draw the back of his throat we're gonna draw the little punching bag that's in the back of your throat draw a u-shape and i drew above the fold yeah and we're gonna curve around and then connect to his tongue now we'll do the same thing on the other side all right hallie we did it we finished drawing our santa puppet now we're not completely done we need to still do what color him yeah we need to color him this part we're going to fast forward but at the end you guys can pause the video to match the same coloring you ready to fast forward now that we did it we finished coloring our santa foldings well puppet but he also works as a folding surprise you ready to show our friends three two one i don't think he sings we added cookies and also milk to the inside of our little puppet or folding surprise but let's turn him into a puppet now on the back here we're gonna turn it like this and we're gonna fold it like that and then we can also put some tape over our fingers so that we can open up his mouth like that so i have some tape right here i'm going to get a big piece like this you might need somebody to help you he doesn't work hang on to it with your right hand or your left hand whichever hand you want to use i feel comfortable using this hand okay then i'm gonna put this piece of tape just like this over over your fingers so that it will open up like a puppet and then flip it over like this and i'm gonna put some tape right here too on your thumb now just put it down like this now i also i take my hands too that just makes it easier to hold them like a puppet oh oh you're santa sounds sick [Music] we hope you guys had a lot of fun following along with us and making your own santa puppet and we'll see you later our friends goodbye santa's sick
