jack we're gonna make another puppet today who are we gonna draw this time rudolph yeah rudolph we hope you're gonna follow along with us now if you haven't already be sure to check out our santa puppet and also mrs claus now what art supplies do they need for this lesson a marker or something to draw with some paper and something to color with yeah all right let's get started yes we're first going to take the top edge of our paper and fold it down to the bottom edge we're going to fold our paper in half these are the same steps that we use for our folding surprise now we're going to take this top flap and fold it back up to the top line it up and fold it right down the middle out to the corners yeah then we're going to flip it over and we're gonna repeat that same step take the flap and fold it up to the top line it up down the middle and then out to the corners there you go now we're gonna take that last step and we're gonna unfold it there you go and then we're gonna flip it back over perfect now we have scratch paper that we're gonna put underneath our drawing paper because we're gonna use markers to draw with and sometimes the marker bleeds through the paper and gets onto the table so the scratch paper protects our table we're first going to draw rudolph's nose right in the middle of our paper but above the fold i'm going to draw an oval shape then we're gonna draw a circle for one eye and a circle for the red eye i love these little folding surprise puppets now we're gonna draw a smaller circle in the top right of each eye now let's add a smaller circle in the bottom left of each eye this is to make his eyes look super shiny then we're going to color in the big circle but leave the two little circles white any time that we fast forward the video remember you guys can pause the video to take extra time to finish that step now we're going to draw the shape of rudolph's head we're first going to draw an upside down u shape we're going to start over here and we're going to draw like this come over to the other side i know it's not really going to look like rudolph at first it just looks like a bald person then we're going to draw the bottom of rudolph's head we're going to draw a u-shape underneath and it should kind of look like we have a well it should look like we have a circle there's half of the circle above the fold and half of it below the fold now let's draw his mouth i'm going to draw a line that's right along the fold and half of the line can be on top of the fold and half of it can be below the fold that's so that when we open it you can see the top of his mouth and also the bottom it just kind of looks like a little muppet so we need to turn it into rudolph let's first draw his antlers we're going to draw a little line that comes out to the side and let's draw a little bump for one of one part of the antler then let's draw another bump that's bigger and then we're gonna curve back into his head let's repeat that same step over here on the left side draw a little line small bump and then a bigger bump and then connect it back into his head there's the antlers all right now let's draw his ears we're going to draw a diagonal line that comes out and then a curve for the bottom of his ear we'll do the same thing over here diagonal line and then curve all right then we could draw the inside of his ear let's draw a little line coming in and then we could draw a zigzag line and connect it into his head and do the same thing over here little line zigzag and connect it let's add some hair on top of his head i'm going to draw a sideways or upside down v that's small and we can draw a bigger one and then connect it into his head next let's draw his body i'm going to draw two little curves that come out of each side and then let's draw a couple zigzags on each side it looks like the letter m i'm going to draw another zigzag just like you so that there's a line going up and then i'm going to connect these two lines with a big v that's the fur that's around his neck now let's draw his body coming down on both sides let's draw one more thing let's add a jingle bell right under his chin so draw a circle then let's draw a circle inside and color it in so a small circle and then a line connecting to the bottom we could also add a curve that connects down to the jingle bell for his collar and draw that same curve on the other side all right jack we did it now let's unfold our folding surprise half of this head's going to be up here at the top and half down here at the bottom so we're going to connect the top of his head down to the bottom we'll start on the outside first just draw a line that connects down to the bottom on the left side and also over here on the right i love how cool they look when they're all opened up because they got these massive mouths okay now let's draw or connect the top of the mouth to the bottom of the mouth next we're going to draw the mouth and we're just going to repeat all of the same steps that we use for both santa and also mrs claus so we'll draw the teeth first we're going to draw two lines that come in on each side then we're going to connect these two lines with a square u shape now let's divide up the teeth we're first going to draw a line in the middle then we'll draw a line on each side of that center one then we're going to draw one more line that's out in the corners then let's draw three lines going up the left side and also the right side now now let's repeat that up here on the top so we're going to draw the short line in first this time we're going to draw a upside down square u shape next divide up the teeth so one line right down the middle a line on each side and then a line out in the corner then three lines down one two three and same thing over here one two three he's missing his tongue let's draw a big u-shape below the middle fold next we'll draw two bumps for the top of the tongue next we're going to draw the back of his throat with the punching bag we're going to draw a u-shape above the fold then on the left side we're going to curve around and then connect down to his tongue and we'll do the same thing over here on the right side curve around connect to his tongue we did it jack we finished drawing rudolph he looks really cool except we still need to do my favorite step what is it color it yeah we need a color of drawings this part we're going to fast forward one more time but at the end you guys can pause the video to match the same coloring you ready to fast forward yes [Music] jack great job on coloring rudolph man he turned out perfect did you have fun yes looks so much better all colored in and we still need to show our friends what's inside you ready yeah three two one guys he's eating carrots now you guys can add whatever you want to the inside of your drawing we added carrots because we thought rudolph would like to eat carrots but that could be candy it could also be fruitcake i think rudolph likes fruitcake now these are the steps for the folding surprise but let's turn him into a puppet so we're going to fold our paper like this pick it up and then we can hold it and then open and close his mouth but to make it a little easier i'm going to add tape to your puppet and i'm going to tape your fingers down so i've got a big piece of tape then i'm going to take the tape and put it on top of your fingers and then press it down on the sides that makes it a little easier yeah to hang on to and then we're gonna turn it over get another piece of tape i'm gonna tape your big giant thumb down but i'll also take my hands down uh makes it so much easier to open and close [Music] we hope you guys had a lot of fun making your rudolph puppets with us and we'll see you later our friends good luck goodbye i think it looks funny when you open their mouth all the way as far as you can go
