hair friends they were going to be drawing a cat yeah a realistic cat yeah all right checkers you got your marker you trying to be a cat we hope you guys are gonna follow along with us you have some paper in front of you and a marker or something to draw with ready to start yeah all right let's draw okay we're gonna start with their paper vertical yeah you got it right and this is also called portrait right yes all right and we're gonna draw a realistic cat but we're gonna use markers and the markers are going to be really simple so the first steps are going to be super simple we're gonna keep the cat nice and easy but then when we color the cat that's top it's gonna be complicated no it's gonna be that's what's gonna make it look realistic yeah okay so let's start with our cat's head in her face okay so we're gonna draw or his yeah we're gonna draw two round eyes okay and we'll make them so they don't so they look more like cat eyes in a second so we're gonna do one over here and then we're not gonna have too much space in between them another circle right next to it good okay now we're gonna make him into cat eyes so in the middle let's draw yeah the cat eye is people or her pupil or his people yeah so it's like an oval and it's kind of pointed at the top and the bottom good those are perfect scary huh all right now we're going to draw it so the little corners of her eyes we're gonna draw on both sides coming down like this so two little lines on both sides then we're going to have a little line on the top over here and on the top on this side good now we're gonna come down we're gonna put her nose in here and she's gonna have a little nose so we're gonna do a little kind of a wavy upside-down W or an M small M okay and then we'll do you got it good and we're going to do a viii to connect her nose not okay and then we'll do a little curl on this side and a little curl on this side coming out the side of her nose wings okay then we'll do a little line down from her nose a little longer maybe okay and then we're gonna come out with an upside down and it's a grumpy cat yeah okay now let's come up here we'll do the top of her head and then we're gonna do her ears and we'll come down to the side of her side of her face so we're gonna do a little curve in between her eyes just right directly above her your eyes good and then we're gonna draw her cat ears so we'll come out like this and we're gonna come back down and we'll do the same thing on this side we want them to look a little symmetrical good so these came out a little further out faster her ears and that's okay so on here let's draw from a line from there and come out to maybe about here on both sides so there maybe on that side and this one's actually pretty good so just on that one so from here and this point down to there it's a little bit bigger good okay now let's draw her the bottom of her chin so let's draw a little curved line right underneath her chin a rightward chin would be then we're gonna draw the side of her head this she's gonna be kind of round so she will look definitely more realistic once we finish it okay now let's draw her neck so we draw a little line that comes out on this side and then a little line that comes out over here nice okay now let's draw her chest line we're gonna continue this line all the way down like that good and then let's draw her foot her first leg so it's going to be a line that comes down and almost to the bottom of the paper and then that's good good job okay now let's draw the backside of this leg and it's just kind of a bent line that yeah it comes a little closer there you go okay now let's draw her paw that's down here so the jaw upside down u shape will connect at the bottom the curved line yeah that's a shoe and then we could put the little toe lines in there okay now let's draw her other leg and it's coming down close to this one so we're gonna start up here Orion come down and end about the same spot as her other way you're kind of running out of room and that's okay good and then we're gonna draw her other pot and it's gonna be pointing out and then we'll curl it back in to connect it good and I'm gonna put a little toe line right there alright now let's draw her back leg so we're gonna draw a big curve that comes over here and then connects to her front leg and comes down and ends about the same spot where her front legs did good that's awesome hey and then let's put her back paw in and this one's gonna be a little bit bigger draw kind of a sideways J shape and then we're gonna curve back under good and then let's put some little toe lines on there put three now let's draw the back of this leg coming up yeah keep going now let's draw her back and it's gonna be arched so we're gonna come up here we're gonna curve down and come right into that back leg perfect and then we can bring this back leg up and almost connect to that line good job that looks awesome she looks a little scared but that's okay well let's draw her belly that comes in here and connects to the bottom and then we could draw her her other leg and her other foot in here so I do a little line down and then connected it with a little toe foot here there we go and then connect it back in and then we can put a toe line on there good job that looks awesome she looks really cool okay we need to tell huh so let's curl a tail a little curl curved line it comes out like this good and then we're going to draw a little blank back this way and then curls back okay let's add some whiskers okay all right so we're gonna do we'll just do a couple lines that connect into her cheek right here and then we'll do the same thing on this side all right let's come up here and let's do a couple more details on her ears so let's do a little jagged furry line on this right under her ears good awesome and then let's do a little detail right here on the inside of her ear and then let's add one more little wrinkle on her body right here behind her front leg awesome we did it now we're gonna leave her just like this she's pretty simple huh she looks cool but she's not very realistic we need to color her okay so let's pick out her clog pencils and we'll come back okay we got some awesome colors picked out checkers we're gonna use white light brown medium brown a dark brown and a black and then orange and pink okay yeah a lot of colors we're using prismacolor colored pencils and and if our herb friends don't have this brand it's a little pricey but any brand will really work Crayola will work just as well we like this brand because they're fun to blend with yeah yeah all right so we're gonna take this a step at a time and it's because we got a really cool pattern that we're gonna color her and make her look very realistic so let's start with her eyes we're gonna do an orange and just a light orange inside of her eyes and we'll come back and we're going to do the shading after but we're just going to put some of the base colors on then we're going to get some pink about pink and add it to our nose and then we're gonna also add it inside of her ears and I'm just gonna put a light layer like this and we're gonna mix it with some other colors in there you're not looking realistic should look more cartoony huh yeah we'll fix that all right now we're going to take our dark brown and we're gonna lightly put in the pattern that we're gonna put on her face and her body so we're gonna start up here we're gonna do two little Mark's over her eyes then we're gonna do a little V and this is the part where we'll probably go too fast and our art friends composite so don't worry if we go too fast just pause it catch up and then start the video again so we got a V going down the middle for face then we're going to put a couple extra little text a couple extra little dots inside of that V alright now we're going to come over here and do the really cool pattern on the side of her face so we're going to do a line that comes out from the top of her eye and then down to the edge of her face and then we're going to draw the same thing on this side so we want to match right I want it to look symmetrical that means the same on both sides good job and do it right to the edge of her head good now we're going to come down and do this little extra piece that comes under her eye on both sides alright now let's draw another design that comes up from her chin the bottom of her or the sides of her jaw and then comes in similar to that design that's right under her eye she's gonna look like a tiger when we're done yeah awesome good now we're gonna draw the little dots that are on her face so we're gonna put three rows and this is where the whiskers come out of the side of her cheeks so three rows on each side awesome okay now let's come up here we're going to do a little short strokes like this right under her ear on both sides good job now let's do a dark shape inside of her ear on the outside edge right here in the corner okay now we can do a little shading on the inside of her ears good all right now let's come down here and let's work on our neck so we're gonna do a big kinda shape right here and I'm gonna do short strokes up and down like this and just put a big kind of darks shape right there under her neck and then I'm gonna make it get smaller as you come forward and then it's gonna get thicker on this side okay now we're going to do another straight right under this one and this one's going to be short not very tall and we'll do it all the way across to the other side of her neck good job checkers he's looking really cool yeah looking like a tiger all right okay a little baby tiger okay now let's do a couple little strokes a little stripes right here and I'm gonna fan them down see how they're starting to come down good awesome now we're going to come down here and we're gonna do a stripe that comes down the side of her body and it's gonna get really big as it comes in between her front leg and our back leg nice job okay now let's come in here and we'll add that shadow or this dark stripe all the way into here all right okay now let's add the stripes on her front legs through him to add a little bit kind of a tall stripe right here at the top and I'm right I'm curving these so that her body looks round see how her neck looks round and then her legs are gonna look round too so let's do stripes all the way down her front legs a little fast for good job men all right now we're gonna draw some little stripes that are going up her back and we want to curve these so we want these stripes curved like this so I'm gonna do a quick outline that goes down her back and then I'm gonna fill those in so that that's the pattern and then we can go back over it with short strokes and darken it in just a little bit more so that they curve and make her back with very round and 3d good job okay now we're gonna do the patterns on our back leg and her tail and won't be pretty much done with the stripes so I'm gonna draw some stripes that go down her leg like this so I'm gonna go back over it but those are that's gonna be the pattern of the stripes okay now we're gonna go down her tail and the tail stripes are going to be curved and show the contour of her tail like that so they're gonna curve this way and go down a tail and then the tip of her tail is going to be really dark there's no stripes there and then we'll come down and then do these short strokes this way and then when we come into her body it's going to be dark also nice job dude we're done with the stripes in the dark brown we're gonna get our medium brown and this is where we're gonna add a little bit more shape to her face and her body and then we're gonna go back over it with the light brown so let's start up here and we're gonna do a texture that comes down the middle of her face and we don't want to touch her eyes see that we want to stay away from her eyes because we're gonna leave it white next to her eyes and then we're gonna come down the side of her forehead over her eyes well she's starting to look cool huh yeah and come down and then we're gonna come down her cheek and her cheek is going to come in and make a pattern that comes in and points inside i but it doesn't touch you see that see how it comes in right here and makes a point and that comes back all right checkers now we're going to go through and we're going to put a light layer of this medium brown over her whole body and we want to use small strokes short strokes so that our fur looks short and not long right okay let's do it okay now we're going to take our medium brown and we're going to come into her ear and we're going to draw some lines that go back and forth up her ear like this good okay and then I also color the inside over ear right here okay now we're done with our medium brown we're gonna get our light brown and we're going to come in and we're going to use this to blend and we want to use short strokes so that her fur looks short and when we get to her eye we're gonna get we're going to come in a little closer but we want to make sure that the edge right next to her eye is white okay now we're going to fill in the rest of her body and we're going to use those short strokes and blend our pencil lines so that it looks smoother and she looks like she has softer for ya all right we're done with our light brown we're gonna use our black and we're gonna add a little more contrast you know what contrast means what does it mean so a contrast means that the darks are really dark and the whites are really white so we're gonna make the shadows and the stripes on our little cat here darker and we don't want to fill in the whole stripe we just want to add some darkness to to the stripes okay so there we go we can just trace back over a lot of these stripes and make them a little darker all right the very last step we're going to do is add this little shading to the top of her eye right here inside and over here on the inside of her other eyes there's some shadow and then we can add a little shading on the inside bird nose then the last very very last step and you take the white little highlight good job checkers dude that is one realistic looking cat those big yeah she looks really awesome good five that was a lot of coloring and we colored her a certain way right she has this really cool striped pattern but her I know our art friends at home probably have pet cats right now after you guys do this lesson with us you could draw this again but then color this cat the way that your pet is yeah so you can have your own drawing of your own cat pretty cool yeah better - seal it our friends goodbye
