what's up guys today I am showing you how I balayage to my friend Jenna's hair at home here is the before and then the after I'm not a professional so don't judge me too harshly so the goal for Jenna was to lift her lengths to a gold stage so that it didn't look super like kind of dark and dark reddish brown anymore we definitely wanted to keep the caramel amber tones in there but not shine like that kind of brown red in the Sun so first I section the hair into three I've got two little ones on the side and one big chunk in the back I'm starting in the back taking two diagonal sections pointed downwards into V then I am painting the sections in a messy U or like on a W ish shape bringing the bleach further up on the sides I am just skimming the top layer for this not saturating all the way through but then for the very ends of the hair I use the back of my hand as a surface and I saturate the hair all the way through again only on the ends am i saturating it all the way through so you'll notice that Jenna has like some previous Lightner in her hair I kind of use that as a guide but if you just kind of stick with this sort of formation with the messy kind of U and W V shapes and just kind of free handing it a little bit that is definitely my advice now the next section I take is just a straight across horizontal section I treat this as one big piece and again do a messy U or W ish shape with the bleach skimming the top layer higher up at the hair but using the back of my hand as a surface to saturate the very ends all the way through [Music] now I alternate this pattern all the way up doing two diagonal sections and then doing one big horizontal section [Music] by the way everything I am using is in the description box below this is 30 volume developer with Clairol powder bleach you'll notice I'm using saran wrap between every section and that's to keep it cleaner so the bleach doesn't touch other hair that it's not supposed to and also it helps keep the bleach from drying out too quickly [Music] [Music] so I've already done one of the sides off camera but this side will be exactly the same so I'll show you first I take a diagonal section that is higher at the front of her face and then again I'm painting a messy u / W shape making sure I bring it up a little bit higher near her face and then again I will use the back of my hand as kind of a surface to saturate the ends all the way through [Music] [Music] the next section I take will be horizontal so just like the back I am alternating between a diagonal section and a horizontal section except for with these front sections it's just like one diagonal section instead of two like that back [Music] [Music] so we ended up leaving the bleach on for about 40 minutes and then rinsed then we blow-dried it to about 60% dry and applied well a demi-permanent color in 8a which stands for ash we weren't going for an ash color at all so we only left it on for about 5 minutes just enough to kind of tone down the really bright to gold tones and turn it into more of like a rich honey amber color then we rinse with cool water gently shampooed and conditioned and these are the results that turned out so good and it was so cheap to do at home thank you guys so much for watching give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed and please subscribe if you want to see more hair videos from me I'll see in the next one bye [Music] [Music]
