for so many recipes and satisfactory the math just works out so that it's easy to make a system that's perfectly balanced with no excess materials but as the game progresses you'll encounter some recipes that create an additional byproduct that you need to figure out how to get rid of or risk your entire factory backing up and shutting down in this video I'll show you some of the difficult recipes you're likely to run into and the best ways to deal with their byproducts and if you find this video helpful I would love if you could leave a like leave a comment and subscribe if you haven't already let's get into it aluminum byproducts aluminum production involves more than one byproduct but luckily they're both easy to work into your aluminum production lines you'll get 50 silica per minute per Refinery from the aluminum solution recipe this is combined with aluminum scrap to create aluminum ingots but the math and the ratios do not work out perfectly you will likely need to bring in more silica from Elsewhere for Simplicity sake let's say we're only using one Refinery to make aluminum scrap this will will produce 360 aluminum scrap per minute to do this you will need 240 aluminous solution per minute which requires two refineries worth of that production this will result in 100 silica per minute as a byproduct so now we have 360 aluminum scrap and 100 silica but to use all of that aluminum scrap we would need 300 silica so we need 200 more silica to be brought in from outside because if we have excess aluminum scrap production will shut down and won't get any more silica if you have alternate recipes there's actually a super easy solution to this the pure aluminum Ingot recipe uses only aluminum scrap so you can use the default recipe to get rid of the silica and then process the rest of the scrap with the alternate recipe if you prefer this entire setup may require using smart Splitters to deal with any overflow putting them into an awesome sink because if anything backs up then the whole system will shut down if the silica backs up you'll stop production of aluminous solution which will stop stop the production of scrap which will stop the production of ingots so make sure your math is perfect and you have backup plans in case things go wrong polymer resin if you've dealt with fuel power then you've definitely run into polymer resin as a solid this is easily sunk in the awesome sink but there are a few ways to make it useful there are simple recipes that combine polymer resin with water to create plastic or rubber this can help augment your plastic and rubber production and give you a little bit extra of each of those resources so make sure you have your fuel production near a water source to take advantage of this there is an alternate recipe that uses polymer resin and water to create fabric but this does have a more Niche use case for production however fabric is worth quite a few points in the awesome sink compared to straight up polymer resin so if you're trying to get tickets this is probably the best use case once again it is important to have a smart splitter that overflows into an awesome sink cuz you really don't want a polymer resin backup to bring your power generators to a halt heavy oil oil residue heavy oil residue is a byproduct of turning crude oil into plastic or rubber as a liquid you can't sink it but since this is a part of your oil setup it won't be hard to create canisters and fill them with heavy oil residue thus making them sinkable once packaged you can also use it as vehicle fuel but there are other uses that are a lot more practical first of all you can turn heavy oil residue into petroleum Coke this is first and foremost a sinkable solid but it also goes into some great alternate recipes assuming you have them unlocked combine with iron to create steel ingots combine with aluminous solution to make aluminum scrap combined with rubber to create circuit boards or you can use petroleum Coke and heavy oil residue combined with sulfur and fuel to make turbo fuel you can also burn it in Coal generators or as vehicle fuel just like coal petroleum Coke is super versatile but most of its versatility comes from its alternate recipes so your progression in the game will determine if this is a good choice for you heavy oil residue can also be used to augment your fuel setup by turning it directly into fuel no other ingredients required this is probably the easiest and most useful method of getting rid of this byproduct if you have a weapons Factory heavy oil residue is a required ingredient in creating smokeless powder which is required for rifle ammo and other specific ammo types but since a weapons Factory is likely to back up you want to use an awesome sink somewhere along the production line so that the heavy oil residue continues to be processed at the correct rate there are some other alternate recipes that deal with heavy oil residue so depending on your exact needs and what other materials you have nearby you have several great options to get rid of this byproduct nuclear byproducts the nuclear process creates several byproducts but they all have fairly straightforward Solutions encased uranium cells create sulfuric acid as a byproduct but they also take sulfuric acid as an ingredient you'll only get 25% of the sulfuric acid back back you can simply recycle this liquid back into the system just make sure to clock the sulfuric acid machine properly so that you're not producing so much that it causes a backup non-file uranium produces water as a byproduct but this can also be easily recycled this item requires both nitric acid and sulfuric acid so the excess water can be recycled back into either of those systems with ease lastly you need to deal with uranium waste after burning nuclear fuel rods for power you can't put them in an awesome snc so you need to process it further there are a few workarounds in the game to get rid of uranium waste permanently but none of them are the intended method and they may be eventually patched out so I'm not going to cover them the only legitimate way to deal with this byproduct of nuclear energy is to process it into plutonium fuel rods this is a pretty complex process using several Advanced manufacturing buildings and some complex ingredients plutonium fuel rods can be used in nuclear power plants to produce additional energy but you'll be left with the same problem in this case plutonium waste which cannot be removed from the game in any legitimate way but you can put plutonium fuel rods into the awesome sink which will get rid of them and the radiation permanently you can also use them as very spicy vehicle fuel which will result in a waste-free world but will cause your vehicles to emit radiation as they drive by ultimately plutonium Fu rods are the ideal way to get rid of uranium waste and have a waste-free satisfactory world but it is very late game and requires a lot of infrastructure so if you're not quite there yet be sure to build a lot of industrial storage units for your waste I hope very much that this video helped you understand byproducts and how to best utilize them in your factory they may be an annoyance but with the right planning and a few lucky alternate recipes you can turn this annoyance into a huge advantage that gets you extra resources or a lot of points towards awesome shop tickets if this video helped you out how about you let me know by leaving a like and subscribing if you haven't already
