How to Connect Mixer to Audio Interface for Stereo

[Music] hey there this is Newcastle music studios and in this video I'm going to show you how to connect your scarlett 2i2 audio interface to a mixer so there are a couple of things you're gonna need I'm assuming you already have a microphone as seen in the picture but the main thing you're gonna need is two quarter inch balance patch cables as they are referred to you can get those off Amazon there's gonna be a link below the first thing I want you to do is plug in your microphone your mixer just so it's good to go so when you're doing this test you'll know whether or not you're doing it correctly alright let's go ahead and take those quarter-inch cables and plug those in to the quarter inch inputs on the front of the scarlett 2i2 alright now we're gonna go ahead and plug those into the mixer output should be labeled as main mix output if you have some sort of behringer or other mixer and you don't have them on the back side go ahead and look on the top and look for main mix or main output Barringer's very popular and there's says main out so go ahead and plug into the main out and again that will go into the scarlett 2i2 or whatever 2i2 style interface you have this is going to create what we known what we know as a balanced stereo connection between the interface and the mixer the reason people do this is typically so they can record seven or eight microphones or several instruments like a live band at once or they can do a drum recording because drums typically have anywhere from eight or twelve microphones or more or less thanks for watching the video if you have any questions post them below I have a few other videos how to do this with a Scarlett solo and some other pedal effects and so on please subscribe and like and have a great day thank you bye
