um yeah we're here the salvo to change the upper control arms in my ranger [Music] so like i said um yeah we're here the salvo to change the upper control arms in my ranger in my car i'm currently running the blackhawk upper control arms by uh road safe but they've done their dash yeah the whole reason i'm changing out the blackhawks is due to the bushes they're rubber and they have deteriorated over time unfortunately so a couple of days ago i changed my lower control arms out to super pro lower control arms so i've decided to go for the super pro upper control arms these have a polyurethane bush as you can see whereas the road safe blackhawks that i had um have rubber bushes these one these ucas do have a lifetime warranty i'm on the website at the moment so yeah lifetime warranty and enhances your four-wheel drive's handling and performance which i'm sure it would definitely improve the handling i always felt like with the blackhawks even with the sway bar out i've got quite well set up suspension so i always felt there was something else a little bit of play somewhere else yeah in the steering so i'm hoping that these ones with the harder poly bushes i don't know stiffen up stiffen up the front end if i can say that yeah tighten it up i don't know don't know what the right word is but that's what i'm sticking with so yeah these are designed to improve your camber and caster um and correct it once you put a two inch lift or above so being fully adjustable after they're installed i'll be able to take it down to my my man knowledge down at jack's and get his boys to do the wheel alignment because i always go back to the same place uh to get my wheel alignment they've got everything on record and they can check it yeah each time i go in so that's what i'm doing so yeah just a few more things fully adr compliant high quality form factor welding and assembly they actually do look quite heavy duty they're all steel they feel solid um engineered tested and built in australia as well which is a bonus so this yeah this whole process of putting these in um is quite a pretty quick um process and it should only take 45 minutes mucking about so what else you get in the box here is um some wp grease some washers and a couple of split pins so add some instructions let's have a quick squeeze i guess our instructions yeah fitting instructions there you go quite detailed pretty simple to um yeah simple to read fitting instructions so if you really you stick to that you're not gonna have any dramas yeah like always i'm not a mechanic i just like doing stuff to my own car so i can learn things and in the process hopefully you guys can learn as well and you'll save a few bucks do it yourself all you need for this hold for this job is a trolley jack and i've got a big rattle gun a mallet just a general purpose i don't know full socket set maybe some pliers but that's really all about everything that you need for this whole process yeah you'll yeah learn something about your car so yeah let's get into it get it up take the wheels off and rip it for the ranger it is a 19 mil socket for the wheel nuts you need to get one of these makes life easy i like to throw the tyre under the chassis somewhere near the front um just as an extra safety precaution you never know what could happen the car might roll forward who knows so yeah that's what i've done alrighty so uh first of all i'm just gonna on mine i've got my abs line just zip tied up around the blackhawks so we'll just clip those and then we'll take out the cotter pin first we'll loosen the sp the ball joint nut just so we can um separate the ball joint yeah in here what you do is you get your trusty mullet and just whack the side of this the ball joint here and that will allow to separate through the shock [Music] there we go and then i've just got another little trolley jack here i'm going to place it underneath the lower control arm ball joint and just jack it up a little bit to take the pressure off the uca ball joint that'll allow a little bit of movement between the two we'll take that off and that'll all drop out as you can see if you can hear that i've got too much lateral movement this um these were good until probably two weeks ago and they really deteriorated really quickly so which is unfortunate but i'm keen to get these um super pro arms in there and see what they feel like so i've just removed the little i don't even know what you call these things pain in the ass but other than that they've these little screw nuts um that hold the mud flap in here i'm just going to pull that back the upper control arm bolt that runs front to back with the car is um the nut end is 21 mil and the bolt end is 18 mil but i'm just going to use a shifter because i can't seem to find my 21 mil for some reason now we can just pull that out keep that washer up near there and make it easier and there we go that's how simple it is to take the upper control arm out and then as you can see on my bushes here totally gone so to reinstall the new upper control arms they've got a right and left painted on there so you don't get muddled up but we're just going to get some of this wp grease and just put a light coat on either side of the bushes and then these washers go on the inside of here and then the factory bushes the factory washers will go on the outside now what we'll do is we'll grab the uca bolt and we'll just put that in slightly and we'll get one of the washers and put it on thread that through so you can just see it slide the other washer in give that a bit of a wiggle there we go we'll place that other washer on and then put the nut on now we'll talk up the bolt and nut to 115 newton meters so i don't have a torque wrench um so what i'm going to do is i'm going to do these up bloody tight it goes up to 115 there we go i can already feel these are just much better next up we'll undo the castle nut here one good thing about the i should mention about the super pro bushes is they don't need to be torqued up under pressure so you can actually talk them up with it in the air we will just realign the spindle for the ball joint put that on and we can tight tighten up the castle nut and the cast the castle nut goes to 110 newton meters and then we'll just throw in one of the split pins and then i'll just get a couple of zip ties for the abs line keep it out of the way cut off the tabs just release the pressure off there you go there's um one side done let's jump over the other side and get the passenger side done [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] yeah well there you go um i think all up yeah that was under an hour so that's how quick it is and easy it is to change your upper control arms fix your your camber and caster well i won't fix it i'll get um yeah my wheel alignment guy to to sort it out for me over the next day or so i did crack a beer so i'm not gonna take it for a drive but yeah i'm sure it's going to feel heaps tighter and smoother in the front i think i'll definitely notice that part especially off-road especially going over faster bumps and ruts and things on the beach i think i'll definitely notice it there that's where i always felt it was a bit sloppy in the front end so what i'll do is i'll leave a link down below in this in the description to these super pro upper control arms as i said i did pay full price for them 825 um from burson's so yeah i'm sure there's plenty other places that stock these or can order them in um but yeah i'll just link it below for the ones that i bought yeah cheers guys um yeah i hope you learned something always yeah do when i'm under the car looking at stuff uh which i think you should too so yeah cheers for watching don't don't forget to uh yeah like and subscribe yeah if you're new to the channel cheers
