hello guys we're back with another tutorial after like three years or so so today we're gonna talk about scene cut detection this is a feature from davinci in case you have a a file i mean a whole video compress it to a single file and you probably didn't edit it or for some reason you don't have the xml file or the individual files so if you wanna cut this video in davinci uh what you can do is right click and go to scene cut detection this will open a new window what the this will open this new window where basically all you need to do is click auto scene detect in the lower corner and you will have to wait a little bit what davinci is gonna do is try to find where are the cuts in your video by checking out the contrast change between frames so if you have two frames that changes a lot one from one another then it's probably gonna detect it as a cut so what it's gonna do is indicate by a green bar where is this cut okay now that it's done there are a couple of things that you may want to keep an eye on the first thing you'll notice is that you have three screens in your upper corner this would be the three frames that you're looking at the middle one being the one that you have the red arrow and the frame to the left and right side of it now you see these are the green bars that i talked about and they indicate where da vinci thinks it's a cut from your video and what you may want to do is is basically check if davinci made the right choice in this case it's fine it's perfectly fine it's successfully identified where is the cut for my video that's fine but check right here did you see this gray thing trying to come up what this means is that davinci identified a change in contrast but it is not as subtle as this one was so it did not completely identify it as a cut but you can see it it kinda identifies the contrast change so there are two things that you may want to do in this situation one thing is that you can grab this little pink line and this is the threshold of what is considered a cut and what is not there this might not be the best situation but what you could do is bring the line down here and it will now identify as a cut yeah i don't i'm not sure if you can see but there is a little green thing here and you can see by the right side of here that it is identified as scene one another thing that you could do and it's actually way better since you see if you lower this pink line too much you're gonna have a lot of different cuts in this same transition so that's not what we're looking for it's definitely not so let me delete it and so in this situation the best thing is to keep the pink line in the middle don't worry about that what you're gonna do is manually add a cut so like here where basically both images are like 50 or so you're you're gonna want to click add this way you're gonna magically add this green bar just as if da had identified the contrast change now you're gonna wanna go through all your clip especially those parts where the gray line goes up a little bit because that means a potential cut from your video so like here the same situation it changed contrast but as there was a transition effect applied it did not identify it as a subtle change in contrast so here yeah see here is another situation so we're adding the cuts yeah see here there's another cut which is unidentified by davinci so i click add again and fine when you have everything set up you're gonna wanna click add cuts to media pool and then click on the little x to close this window this is gonna put all your cuts in here like if they were different scenes and you can basically click edit and just throw everybody together yep and we should have yep now we have all the videos separated in different files i mean inside davinci at least then you can go and color grade every single one of them it they are not anymore uh a whole video together and you can also go to deliver and render them as individual clips so now they are working as if they were separated i hope that helped you guys and if so leave a like and i see you in the next one
