so we know with price increases on parking food tickets and just about everything else at Walt Disney World going to one of the world's most popular vacation destinations has gotten really really expensive so today we're gonna break down for you just how much it costs to go to Disney World right now hey everybody it's AJ for Disney food blog and if you guys are considering a trip to Walt Disney World or you haven't been in a while it's time to get down to brass tacks and see how much it's gonna cost for you to go to Disney World now you know we've got tons of cost savings recommendations lots of tips lots of tricks lots of secrets to save you some money but first you need to know exactly how much it's gonna cost you in the first place so we're gonna break down just how much a Disney World vacation could cost for a hypothetical family of four two adults two kids a ten-year-old and a seven-year-old going to Disney World at the end of January for six nights now remember your mileage may vary when it comes to exact prices with the date base ticketing system and hotel prices varying based on capacity and time of year and other events things can change by about a hundred two hundred dollars but generally after running the number several times this is just about what we came up with each time so first we're gonna start with airfare so we're gonna do this in the order that you would probably think about in book this stuff anyway so airfare the price of airfare will be highly dependent on when you're flying and where you're flying from so Orlando Airport is one of the highest traffic airports in the country so no matter when you're flying you should have some options as far as airline and day of week or time of arrival so the average round-trip ticket from Orlando cost about two hundred fifty five dollars so it's pretty pricey you can drive which will save quite a bit of money although you'll want to factor in hotels food and gas as well as the time it takes to make the trip but let's say you're a family of four and you're flying it's gonna cost you about a thousand dollars round-trip don't forget to book that flight early enough that you're not saddled with those charges for booking later so hotels the stock hotels you got a ton of options for where to stay when you're visiting Disney World and the great debate is of course if you're staying on site versus off site now on-site means that you are staying right within Disney World property and you're probably staying at a Disney World owned hotel if you stay off site you're gonna stay outside of Disney World property at a separately owned hotel now the off site benefits there's more space for the money usually this can include your vacation rentals your houses your condos etc or even you can probably get a suite at a hotel off site for it less money than you would get just a room on site so if you're going with a large group you can rent a house or a condo and that's gonna get you amenities you won't find in a hotel like a full kitchen laundry even a private pool in some locations you can find a lot of options for around 250 and night over there near Walt Disney World now off site you can also get more luxury for the money if you want to stay in a five-star hotel but the high prices and style of Disney deluxe resorts aren't your vibe check out the Four Seasons which is still on Disney property but not a Disney Resort also the Waldorf is inside Disney's gates but not a Disney Resort and you can get a lot more for your money in those locations so rooms start around 600 a night if they're larger and come with more amenities than Disney's Grand Floridian for example now you'll also find some really significant price differences for budget accommodations compared to value resorts on site around the Orlando area so Disney Springs good neighbor hotels can generally be found for $100 to 180 dollars per night while other budget accommodations in the area Holiday Inn super 8 etc can be found for under $100 a night so that's gonna be a lot cheaper than a value resort on Disney property now if you're staying on site you're doing it primarily for convenience and the experience so you get free transportation around Walt Disney World property extended Fast Pass windows package delivery right to your resort of things that you buy in the theme parks plus that level of Disney service that you aren't guaranteed from other hotels so resort parks can be a waste of money if you don't take advantage of that so make sure that you do also never pay rack rate if you're going to stay on site Disney nearly always has discounts so keep an eye out for room only and package discounts you can find those on the special offers tab on the Walt Disney World website so value resorts are roughly around 150 to 200 per night although family suites at art of animation will run you 350 to 500 per night moderate resorts a little bit higher level is gonna be 200 to 350 per night with a few of the new rooms at Coronado Springs Resort hitting close to a thousand per night those are suites high-level Club level kind of things deluxe resorts 400 to 600 per night with some rooms going well above $2,000 a night so Disney Vacation Club rooms and villas started around $400 per night then go up to nearly 5,000 per night now remember those you can book if you are not a Disney Vacation Club member you can still book them just as a regular hotel guest no obviously there's lots of options but for the sake of our sample poor person family let's say they've gone for a standard room at Coronado Springs and they were able to snag a room only discount which got them 15 percent off the rack rate of the room which was one thousand two hundred and fifty four dollars for the week so six nights with a room only discount comes to 1066 for about a hundred and seventy eight dollars per night so their trip total is two thousand sixty six dollars so far all right let's go to tickets so single Park tickets started a hundred and nine dollars per day now this is the cheapest but it locks you in to set plans so it might be fine if you've grabbed all your fast passes and advanced dining reservations you need already and you make sure okay we know we're going to Magic Kingdom on this day so we'll just get a one day Magic Kingdom ticket park hoppers started a hundred and sixty nine per day and that means that you can effectively hop between parks throughout the date on to stay in one place all day so this gives you flexibility to hit rope drop in one Park and then hop to a less crowded Park it can be more spontaneous so your Park copper plus gives you access to water parks as well an annual pass allows you entry to all the parks every day of the year - your block out dates which depends on which pass you get so the Platinum pass is one thousand one hundred and nineteen dollars for out-of-state residents and eight hundred and ninety nine dollars for Florida residents so there's a big price hike that we've seen recently on annual passes and you may be able to find discounts through work or occasionally through Sam's Club current discounts are not on the annual pass though but be sure to keep checking Sam's Club you may be able to find some discounts there and remember that the Annual Pass does get you discounts on hotel rooms food and merchandise and it also gets you free memory maker for the Annual Pass Holder now remember only one person in your group needs to have those to benefit the whole group so just make sure everybody's around to use them so our family of four has added four five-day park hopper tickets to their package for 1981 dollars for their trip total now is four thousand forty seven dollars so far moving on to food food costs can add up fast so the DFB guide you guys know over at DFB store calm has great budgeting worksheet to help you figure out just how much you'll spend on food plus charts that outline how our family of four can make the best decisions with their money when it comes to the Disney Dining Plan or paying out of pocket so there are over 400 restaurants on Disney property lots of options from low cost to extremely high cost plus off-site dining options and the possibility of bringing your own groceries and eating breakfast in the room or carrying snacks with you and remember if you're staying at a hotel that does have a full kitchen you can afford to make your meals at home so with our hypothetical family comparing out-of-pocket costs versus the Disney Dining Plan they're planning on dining at one table service restaurant per day having one quick service meal per day and two snacks per person per day plus drinks that would come free quote unquote with the Disney Dining Plan refillable mug or be included with the meal so with 2019 prices they're budgeting three hundred and thirty eight dollars per day or two thousand twenty eight dollars for the whole stay so now their trip total is six thousand seventy five dollars now if the family were to decide to get the standard DVD nine clan package in this instance they may actually save money based on how much they budgeted for food so the trip total with the Disney Dining Plan is said about a pocket food would be five thousand eight hundred thirty to seven so the main deciding factor would be will your family really eat all the food that's included with the Disney Dining Plan you're choosing so if we're talking about the standard Disney Dining Plan here which includes table service meals everyday we're talking a two hundred dollar difference which can add up pretty quickly if you drop the table service meal at - now if free dining is available our family of four can see some pretty substantial savings even though the room will go back to wrap rates of the trip total with free Disney dining plan is 4211 which is what they're gonna go with because they happen to be traveling during a free Disney Dining Plan time so keep in mind that free dining isn't offered all the time and often it will be released later than room only deals so don't miss the room you want while waiting for free diamonds for released you can always make a new reservation or potentially add the free dining deal on to your existing reservation when it's an interest so now we got to talk about extras here we're thinking about hard ticket events dining experiences activities that you might want to do some are a small fee but that can add up quickly so don't think of them just as an afterthought now if you're planning a short trip and after-hours event can be really beneficial as it gets you exclusive access to those parks with minimal and by minimal we mean really short wait times for those big ticket rides meaning you can ride you take it attractions multiple times in one night and you don't have to worry about fast passes reservations or snacks because you get free snacks while you're there so there's also plenty of dining experiences and smaller activities at the resorts as well as fun tours and extras in the park think you'll want to check out before you go we've got a great video highlighting all the fun things you can do at the resort so check that out this is our family save some money with their package and their free dining they've decided to splurge on an extra they've decided to add on the frozen over after dessert party and Epcot which gives them a great view of the Epcot fireworks and it guaranteed ride on frozen ever after which frees up the Fastpass for them plus some great desserts admission for this is $79 per adult which is ages 10 and up and 47 per child ages 3 to 9 so now their trip total is four thousand four hundred ninety five dollars with food hotel airfare and an extra point all right let's talk hidden costs so there's a lot of actual hidden costs that Disney doesn't tell you about and then it's hard to sort of see when you're budgeting and we've actually got a whole video all about those hidden costs that you want to go check out while you're planning your trip so first the date based ticketing the day you go and the time of year you go can have a pretty big impact on your ticket price so our family of four is going during a value season so their tickets are less expensive than if they were going during the holiday season or the summer now remember you can pay extra to get a flexible date ticket meaning you'd have to pay extra for each person in your party if you want to choose lay which date you start your tickets the next hidden costs those resort parking fees so if you are bringing a car to your resort it's gonna be fifteen dollars per day at Val your resort's twenty dollars per day at moderates and 25 at Deluxe's per night now our family didn't drive so they've saved one hundred and twenty dollars in parking fees although those flights were pretty pricey and they're relying entirely on complimentary Disneyworld transportation which can eat up some of their time the next hidden cost upgraded room views and location so decide if they're worth it for you because they definitely can be if you're staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge and want to see the Savannah or you're planning on stopping back at the resort midday and don't want a long walk from the bus so you want a preferred room at some resorts which is closer to the lobby now our family wanted to see you as much money as possible so they booked a standard room even if it means walking a bit to get to their food court now their hidden costs Dining Plan gratuity the Disney Dining Plan does not include gratuity or tips so be ready to pay out-of-pocket for that based on one table service meal per day for our family they should budget at least a hundred and sixty-five dollars for gratuity during their trip the next hidden cost tips and gratuity that are not associated with your dining so things like valet luggage housekeeping rideshare services taxis etc so for luggage handling plan on two to three dollars per bag housekeeping $1.00 per day per person in your room so for our family that'd be about four dollars per day two to five dollars for valet and 15 to 20 percent for transportation tips so our family is budgeting about forty dollars for additional co2 --'tis and next hidden cost memory maker so this is the way you'll have access to all those photos that were taken in the parks and on the rides sure you can ask the cast member to take a photo with your phone but to make things easier you might want to choose the memory maker package like our family did adding a hundred and sixty nine dollars to their trip total so our final amount round-trip flights for four six nights at Coronado Springs Resort standard room five-day park hopper for everyone in the family the free Disney Dining Plan which saves them a ton of money frozen ever after dessert party gratuities and memory maker brings their trip total to four thousand eight hundred sixty nine dollars now think if they didn't go during the free Disney Dining Plan offer they would probably be adding another thousand dollars in food costs to their trips so be prepared for that so for a family of four for a relative leave moderately priced Disney trip you're already at the five thousand plus mark so that's our breakdown for you guys and remember we've got tons of tips for how to save on that amount here on the DFB guide video channel also over at DFB store in our ebooks that rewrites the DFP guide to Walt Disney World dining and all
