Disney World vacation hey everybody it's AJ for Disney food blog now there are several Disney World hotels that you can choose to stay at during your upcoming trip like over 20 of them but instead of treating these hotel stays as just a place to crash and take the sleepiest of showers you're going to want to really get the most bang for your buck with the hotel you're investing your money in which is why we've compiled this list of super sneaky kind of tricky and very handy Disney World hotel hacks got your room key ready great cuz it's time to unlock the door to Disney hotel success one of the biggest reasons to book a Disney World hotel in the first place is to gain access to those super sweet Transportation perks and super close proximity to the parks but even at the hotels that promise you these Transportation perks in close proximity you might find yourself placed in room that still requires you to track a long way before you can actually use said perks so we've done the extra research sent our reporters out across all the different hotels and found the most convenient rooms specifically at these hotels now our reporters didn't have to do this but they literally figured out the closest Disney hotel rooms in steps like they tracked down these rooms and counted out loud how many steps it would take you to actually reach the hotel's best perks that's why our team is the absolute best and I appreciate them so much so let's start with what the dfb squad found out about the Skyliner Resorts those include Art of Animation Pop Century Riviera and Caribbean Beach at Art of Animation your closest rooms are going to be in the Nemo buildings specifically speaking rooms 5514 5513 4540 and 4539 which are about 127 Steps From the Skyliner at Pop Century the 60s buildings are going to be your go-to for extra Skyliner convenience and the closest rooms will be rooms 5111 5112 4161 and 4162 which are 130 Steps From the Skyliner at Caribbean Beach rooms 4104 and 4102 in the Jamaica buildings are 194 Steps From the Skyliner when you take the pathway rooms 4130 and 4131 still in Jamaica are 130 steps away when you cut through the grass and rooms 5509 and 5510 in Aruba are 164 steps away from the Epcot side of the Riviera Skyliner station now speaking of Riviera rooms 5509 and 5510 at the Riviera are just am easly 94 steps away from the entrance to the Disney Hollywood studi side of the Skyliner station if you're planning on spending a lot of time at Epcot during your next trip the resort that's the absolute closest to the international Gateway the backside entrance of the park is Disney's beach club resort no Skyliner trip necessary and according to our very scientific counting out loud experiment the closest room to Epcot from the beach club is of course 1501 you've heard me talk about that one before and it's 245 steps away meanwhile over at the monreal resorts Polynesian Village the Contemporary Grand flow the closest building to the Magic Kingdom park yes the actual Park Gates not just the transportation and Ticket Center is over at Bay Lake Tower which is part of the Contemporary Resort you want to stay in rooms 7111 7109 7132 or 7134 to be the closest to the park gate since these rooms are about 1,6 steps from Magic Kingdom's gate reminder that our reporters literally counted out loud for this little experiment of theirs and definitely got all the stairs that being said we'd probably personally recommend room 7132 or 7134 since they're not just closer to the Magic Kingdom Gates but they're also closer to the main contemporary building and the elevators plus they have an exterior exit door nearby they can give you access to the bus station walking path by the way if you want an ultimate list of every Disney World owned Hotel dates for 2024 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party which happens each fall over at Magic Kingdom and this year the party is going to be taking place on select evening starting August 9th and up until October 31st party tickets are actually live right now now starting May 15th for the general public however party tickets went live even earlier for future Disney World hotel guests so instead of having to wait until the 15th Hotel guests could book their tickets starting on May 8th to have their cream of the party ticket cro because they do sell out this is pretty common Disney practice since Disney wants to reward Resort guests for choosing their hotels over other Orlando hotels in the area so if you want first dibs for holiday party tickets especially if you're wanting first dibs at the cheaper holiday party rates or those dates that tend to sell out like Halloween specifically then plan to book your Disney hotel stay before those early party purchase release dates go live that means All You Very Merry Christmas Party folks out there are going to want to keep an eye out for when the 2024 party tickets are going to be announced since Disney tends to announce party days months before these events actually kick off to give you plenty of time to plan for it don't fret though all my dfb newsletter folk I'm going to let you know about those party dates right when they're announced since we send you that reminder straight to your email for free along with Disney Resort guests families who book rooms at the Swan and Dolphin or shades of green Resorts also receive access to purchasing early party tickets too so here's how to find the cheapest food options for your fam the Disney Resorts have a plethora of dining options you can choose from from Quick Service to table service to character dining to Signature fancy schmancy dining what if your family is looking for the absolute cheapest yet still super tasty Resort meals that'll feed multiple mouths for one price point well the best option you've got over at the majority of Disney's Resort quick services are the full family-sized pizzas these tend to cost $20 plus and will feed a family of four pretty easily but if you're looking for something other than pizza then the Quick Service Trails End over at Fort Wilderness I know it used to be a table service it's not anymore also has family meal deals there you can either order a barbecued ribs full slab meal with the cornbread and your choice of two sides for 32 bucks or you can order the eight piece Fried Chicken meal with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese for 29 both of these meals are meant to serve at least two people but if you're not looking for a huge lunch or you plan on snacking somewhere else later in the day you can probably stretch these portions to feed maybe three to four family members instead especially if you got younger kids in your group who'll probably fix it on the mac and cheese anyways want a more affordable Family Style Dining offering where the unlimited eats are brought straight to your table of course you do Sebastian's beastro over at Caribbean Beach hasn't always been our favorite sit down option but the quality does keep improving and it's probably the cheapest all you care to enjoy option on property right now costing $38 per adult and $20 per child during this meal you're going to get to munch on an unlimited spread of pull apart rolls Caribbean Entre like citrus chicken mojo pork chili rub beef and baked fish salad topped with candied pumpkin seeds tropical fruit and radish with key lime dressing lots of sides like cilantro rice and beans vegetable stew and grilled seasonal vegetables and the housemade coconut pineapple bread pudding which I'm actually going to talk more about later on so hang typ but if you're truly trying to save money during your hotel stay you might be better off ordering outside the Disney Resorts without actually having to leave the resorts thanks to food delivery and grocery delivery apps for food delivery services you can use stuff like GrubHub or Uber Eats door Dash whatever and these apps will deliver fast food outside the Disney bubble straight from participating restaurants and over to where you staying but here are a few things you're going to need to keep in mind when ordering a food delivery first there will usually be a delivery fee that ranges anywhere from 99 to $10 or more second many delivery service apps also charge a service fee which can be as high as 18% on every order thirdly sometimes you'll be held to a minimum order amount and be charged a small order fee if you're under that amount and fourthly doesn't sound like a real word tipping the driver is expected so while these fast food runs could be cheaper than Disney Resort food you'll want to look over that overall total before you check out and see if it's really true or not once you've successfully placed your order you'll want to make sure your phone's ringer is on just in case the delivery driver has difficulty grabbing your order or finding you you'll also want to stay close by your hotel don't trust the estimated delivery time it could be much shorter than expected and you'll want to be nearby to grab your food when it arrives at Bell Services meanwhile if you want to order groceries to your Disney hotel so you can meal prep or grab some cheaper snacks to take into the parks with you our go-to option lately has been Kroger delivery via the Kroger app now you might be thinking wait there aren't any Kroger stores near Disney World are there nope there aren't however Kroger recently built a huge Distribution Center in Central Florida so they could deliver groceries throughout the Disney World area once you have the Kroger app downloaded just fill your cart with whatever foods and snacks and essential items you need and apply any relevant coupons that you stumble upon krer likes to throw some pretty good deals your direction so take advantage of those when you can when you're ready to check out you can request the time and date of delivery and add your notes telling the delivery team where to meet you we recommend telling them to meet you in the lobby and not outside your hotel room cuz it's just never a good idea to give out that kind of personal information to anybody and usually your Disney hotel won't let someone go up there anyway now if you won't be present for the delivery drop off you can always have the Kroger team drop off your groceries with the front desk of your hotel but Disney does charge a $6 fee for this service so if you want to avoid that you'll want to make sure you stick around your hotel premises that day just until your groceries are dropped off at least all right next tricky Disney hotel hack stay at a cheaper Resort but take advantage of the Deluxe offers real talk you do not have to pay $500 per night over at a deluxe resort to experience the bulk of a deluxe Resort even if you book a value or moderate Resort instead you can still travel over to one of the deluxe Resorts during your trip via Disney's free transportation services from their Parks or Disney Springs shopping district and check out the different shops and restaurants and activities while you're there you just won't be able to use their pools their gyms or extended evening hours benefits for the parks that's it everything else is all yours want to do things Hannah Montana style and get get the best of both worlds I.E experience a Disney Deluxe stay minus the top tier price point you got three ways to pull that one off first you can book a room at the Grand dintino Tower at Disney's moderate Resort cornado Springs not only does grand dintino feel like a deluxe Resort because of its luxurious setup but you're going to have access to awesome pools two gyms and table service dining like crazy there's even a fireworks view Lounge the Dalia Lounge which is so underrated nobody knows about it please go there it's on the top floor of the building the are glorious grandino is also the only moderate Resort on Disney property to offer up Club level stays what's the big deal with Club level rooms well aside from the personalized assistance you're going to get from the concierge staff one of the biggest benefits of staying Club level is the food and drink you'll get for free many Club level guests plan at least one if not two meals in the lounge and that can help pay for the upgraded room at Grand Destino you'll have access to the Kronos Lounge where you'll typically find light Continental style breakfast options in the morning snacks and beverages in the afternoon and Papas or small bite style Foods in the evenings as well as wine beer and Cocktails the club level rooms offered at Grand Destino are often the best club level value sometimes costing even less than a standard style room with no Club level benefits at a deluxe Resort the only problem with staying Club level at Coronado is that at the end of the day this is still a moderate Resort so you won't have access to the extended evening hours perk which allows Deluxe Resort guests to stay in select Parks longer on certain nights even after they close for the public so if you want that Deluxe Resort perk then you might be better off with this second option instead you can try a split stay so a split stay is when you book one Disney Resort for the start of your trip then transfer to another Disney Resort during the same vacation this gives you the chance to experience a deluxe hotel room and its Deluxe perks like those glorious extended evening hours for instance for just one or two days but you can stay in a much more affordable Value Resort for the remainder of your vacation and here's the best news about that you don't need to struggle to get your luggage to your second Resort your first Disney hotel will transfer your luggage to your next one once it's time to check out all you have to do is head to bell services tell them you're moving to another Disney hotel they'll have you fill out a form and then that's it they'll take care of the rest from there so you can just go to the parks and have fun and then show up at your second Resort that night and your third option for a cheaper Deluxe stay snag a room at the Swan and Dolphin the Swan and Dolphin hotels are actually owned by Marriott not Disney but they partner with Disney to give guests staying at their hotels very similar benefits to the deluxe Disney Resorts but more often than not Marriott's going to give you a much more affordable price point not to mention if you're part of the Marriott bonvoy membership program you'll get deluxe hotel accommodations as well as the perks that come along with that program so you're going to be able to earn rewards for every stay plus you can spend rewards to book future stays at this hotel too which could save you even more money so how do things get better than that even though this isn't a disney-owned hotel you still get early theme park entry which allows you to get into the parks 30 minutes before the official opening time and and you get that glorious extended evening hours perk too plus you'll be staying in the heart of the abcot resort area meaning you can walk to abcot and the abcot Skyliner station you can walk to Hollywood Studios as well as to the boardwalk Resort Yacht Club Beach Club you can also take friendship boats to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and to the other resorts in the area as well on top of all that you'll also have direct access to some great dining options that many guests never get to take advantage of including the new Rosa Mexicano Todd english's bluo the fountain even self-served doll whip over at fuel it's the only place you can get self-served do whip anywhere in Disney World so FYI we've actually got a whole page all about Swan and Dolphin dining for you over on the dfb website to find it just Google Disney food blog and Swan and Dolphin dining to get the complete restaurant list now this trick is going to take you out of the Disney hotels because sad news Disney World Resorts don't offer free breakfast instead you're going to have to pay for your bacon eggs and gravy no matter if you're staying in a value moderate or deluxe hotel but we want you to book a hotel with free food now if you're staying Club level at a Disney hotel I guess that food is included so we've got that but if you want to avoid the club level prices and still get complimentary breakfast along with your hotel some hotel chains outside the Disney owned Resorts can hook you up with a continental morning meal and still keep you close to the parks it just may take a little bit of extra research on your part one of our favorite non- disney-owned hotels to stay at that offers free breakfast is the newish Drury Plaza Lake buav Vista it's in the Disney Springs area you can take advantage of a free Cel breakfast each morning which includes a station where you can make your own Mickey waffles but breakfast isn't the only free meal you're going to get with your jewelry hotel stay during jewelry's complimentary 5:30 p.m. Kickback meal you get to choose from a menu of dinnertime snacks and cold beverages beer wine mixed drinks and more every single night note that alcoholic beverages are not included in this meal at every drwy hotel but they are at the Disney Springs draw location so bonus while the menu rotates out every evening some of the options that might be included are things like salad soup chili pasta baked potatoes nachos and Sliders it's enough to be a full dinner which means you could save some serious cash on not just one meal but two so if you're planning to use a resort refillable mug around the Disney World hotels during your next visit get ready for a crucial hack that's going to really make sure you get your money's worth out of this purchase this is why you watch dfb by the way because our team of reporters is out there figuring out hacks like this or I mean not even hacks this is just info this is just fact facts not even hacks it's facts but you're rarely going to find this kind of info in other places so good for you I'm glad you're here I'm glad we can help in this way so first let's talk about what is a Disney refillable mug okay refillable mugs are 16 o insulated coffee mugs sold at Disney hotels in the Resort's primary counter Service locations you'll also get them for free for each member of your group if you have the Disney Dining Plan when you get one of these little mugs you'll be entitled to unlimited free refills on Fountain drinks coffee and tea from participating beverage locations across every Disney hotel for the length of your stay up to 14 days notice I said the Disney hotels and not the Disney parks while you're more than welcome to bring your refillable mug into the parks with you you're not going to have the same unlimited soda privileges here but you're more than welcome to carry your mug across any of the Disney Resorts and fill them up at any of the free refill stations you find so for example if I'm doing a Montreal crawl I can use my refillable mug to get more soda at any of the refill stations inside Polynesian Village Grand flid and the Contemporary even if I'm not staying as a guest at any of those locations while many of the drink stations around Disney World hotels especially the value Resorts will close with the restaurants early in the night it seems that many of the resort pool bars don't play by the same rules some resorts around property have refill stations located at their pool bars that stay open 24/7 meaning you can get your fill of sod pop at all hours of the night a few never closing soda stations that we've found include the one at pedals pool bar at top Century Resort banana Cabana at Disney's Caribbean Beach and drop off pool bar at Disney's Art of Animation Resort and we're back at the Swan and Dolphin cuz I've got even more ways you can save on your future stay here numerous ways to be exact so let's rapid fire through them triaa and CAA members can save up to 25% on the best available rate at the time of booking and the same discount rate is also available for law enforcement military personnel government employees teachers School support staff and senior citizens 62 years and older nurses doctors firefighters paramedics and medical personnel get a special appreciation rate that tends to change depending on what time of year you're visiting Florida residents and Disney World annual passholders can save up to 30% off regular rates and anyone can get up to 20% off when booking a prepaid non-refundable room in 2024 not to mention if you're traveling with a bigger group and you're going to need more than one hotel room to fit everybody then you can book one room at regular rate but reserve a second guest room for up to 25% off a regular rate keep in mind that Disney's Resorts also regularly promote special offers deals and discounts on their website so never ever book a room at full price before trying to track down a savings opportunity first did you know that there are Hotel parades yes there are where and when we got lots of questions I promise I've got answers there are two different Resort parades you could potentially catch during your next hotel stay depending on when you're visiting the first happens over at Porter leans Riverside and French Quarter during their Marty cross celebrations on Marty gr these two Louisiana inspired moderate Resorts celebrate the holiday all day long with special events including the Port Orleans Marty gr Pargo parade this year the parade began at 10:00 a.m. eastern near building 80 at Disney's Porter leans Resort Riverside and made its way through the resort next to the sassagoula river ending in the Port Orleans French Quarter Courtyard the parade features jazz bands character sightings like Princess Tiana and a horse drawn carriage golf carts jazzed up like Parade floats that you can actually vote on after the parade concludes to determine overall favorite and tons of colorful Marty Gro beads that you can collect in a totally familyfriendly way of course meanwhile over at Fort Wilderness Resort you have the potential to see three different seasonal golf cart parades one for Fourth of July one for Halloween and one for Christmas cast members at Fort Wilderness do have a hand in making these parades possible each year but they do stress that these events are all guest Le so although the Traditions themselves have been happening for years now the golf cart parades were all started by Camp ground guests looking to have an extra bit of fun on vacation grades here typically start at the hitching area right by the front entrance and follow the longer straighter stretch of road through the meadow section eventually they're routed past the judge's tent and scored points in categories based on creativity and theme the judges will deliberate with each other and narrow the hundreds of entries down to just six these finalists will then be judged by others staying at the campground and one will go on to be crowned the winner wondering how you can get in on all the golf cart parade fun if you want to participate you have have to be staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort in Campground no ifs ANS or butts about it then about a week before the parade starts visit the Bike Barn to get on the official lineup and receive your order number all that's left to do after that is to stick to the rules and regulations that Disney provides participants to ensure safety for everybody if you're looking to spectate at this event well that gets a bit tricky because of its immense popularity among Resort campers and day Spectators this parade is also limited to those who are actual guests of the campground meaning if you don't have a resort reservation you won't be able to come and watch so I understand that keeping your hotel room organized may not be like a top priority for your Disney World trip but there are some pretty sweet items out there that several of us on the dfb team have started accumulating to use during our hotel stays that are not only convenient but have made us more organized by default for example compression packing cubes dude these things can save you so much real estate in your suitcase back when I lived in Switzerland and in England and I had to travel lots of places with like just a big backpack I used to compress all of my clothes by wrapping them in packing tape like I would ball up a dress and wrap it up in packing tape to make it as small as possible then I moved on to using Ziploc bags and like squeezing all the air out of them before they had those Space saer Bags and now it's all about packing cubes these work a lot like those vacuum sealers if you got any bulkier clothing items or just a lot of clothing items and a limited amount of space these packing cubes can help you squeeze it into your suitcase without making any big attire sacrifice Plus at the end of your trip when it feels like your stuff is somehow magically grown within the course of your vacation you can shove all your clothes and laundry back into those packing cubes to avoid packing and repacking and treating your stuff old and new like a Tetris puzzle you might also want to throw in a foldable hamper into your suitcase to use in your hotel room that way you can keep all your dirty laundry in one space making it easier to pack later because I don't know about you but every time I go stay at these hotels it's a crapshoot as to whether I get a laundry bag or not and usually I haven't been getting one lately so I've just you know bought my own kind of laundry bags really cheap ones and I just bring those with me and then when I get back home I throw the laundry bag into the laundry with all my dirty clothes and just wash it oh and don't forget extra tip there are laundry facilities at every Disney World Resort speaking of laundry conveniences I think one of my favorite Parts about the Disney World laundry facilities is the fact that you can leave set laundry facilities no seriously there's a laundry app called laundry view that you can download while you're busy doing all your washing and drying duties this app will notify you once your loads are done so you can head off somewhere else around the resort for a while like a dip in the pool or take a nap or a quick dollet break without having to worry about watching your shorts like a hawk is so handy I love laundry View and then there's the subject of your nightstand once again you can avoid clutter here by investing in a threein One charging station like the one we found on Amazon for Apple users which is going to allow you to up your iPhone your Apple watch and your airpods all at once and not get a dozen odd wires all tangled up in the process you may also want to consider packing a small flat power strip with USB ports to plug in your charging station and to plug in your magic band plus if you're going to be using Magic Band Plus in the Parks this way all your electronic devices will be charged up and ready to go for a full Park day in FYI note that some of the renovated Disney Resort rooms will have USBC ports other ones will still have just kind of the old school maybe a USB port but probably just a regular plug so you know you know just bring extra stuff just in case you don't have enough plugs for for all your devices so new restaurants have recently entered the Disney resort scene and more restaurants are going to be opening soon in the new and now open category you've got the reimagine character dining Buffet 1900 Park Fair I know we never thought it would come back at Grand Floridian Cafe which we reviewed in our recent Disney restaurants have changed video so you can go check that out and in the soon to be open category you've got the cake bake shop coming to Disney's Boardwalk in sometime later this year we think we hope it's been delayed quite a few times now but we're still crossing our fingers about seeing it soon I actually put this up on my Instagram and gwendelyn Rogers who is the owner I guess Proprietor in charge of the whole cake baked shop Empire came over and promised that it would be worth the wait so I'm very excited about that now you know what new really means when it comes to a Disney World restaurant though new means popular and popular means busy and busy means those Advanced dining reservations are going to get booked up for these places real fast which is why you're going to want to make super D duper sure you're booking your Advanced dining reservations as soon as you can normally Disney World guests are able to book Advanced dining reservations 60 days out before your meal however if you're going to be staying as a Disney World hotel guest then you can make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of your hotel stay up to 10 days that means I could technically book a meal at say 1900 Park Fair up to 70 days in advance if I'm going to be a Disney Resort guest depending on how long my trip is going to be this opens up a whole new realm of new reservation possibilities that could make the difference between securing those high demand restaurant tables or not now certain Disney World hotels can make the parks nighttime spectaculars all the more memorable and better yet private fireworks cruises might not be new to the Disney hotels but they do have the ability to show you a new nighttime show from a fresh perspective but first let's talk a little bit about what these cruises can offer you aside from fire work shows out on the water these fireworks cruises are going to put you on a 25-ft pontoon that can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests each Cruise includes a captain a variety of snacks and beverages piped in music and if you're celebrating something extra special banners and balloons which may be requested upon booking and are also included in the cost so you might as well request them right depending on where your cruise is departing from that will determine the fireworks you get to see once the show begins if you're boat stocked at the Contemporary Polynesian Village Grand flid and Fort Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge you'll get to watch the happily ever after spectacular take place over Magic Kingdom but if you depart from the yacht and beach club marina instead you'll get to see epcot's newest fireworks display luminous the Symphony of us which debuted in Epcot just this past December luminus was created as part of the Disney company's 100th anniversary celebration and features a conglomeration of fireworks and fountains lasers lighting effects and fan favorite Disney songs while prices for the hotel cruises do vary depending on the day that you're booking The Cruise for they start start at $4.49 plus tax boy that price has gone up since I booked them way back in the day you can reserve a cruise before your trip by calling 47939 7529 now the freedom to pick how little or how much dou whip you want to swirl into your bowl now rests in your hands once again can you handle that kind of responsibility of course you can over at the Disney World Swan and Dolphin there's a little grab and go called fuel on the dolphin side of the hotel Duo which serves up sandwich specialty coffees other elevated snacks kind of like a bougie grabbing go and that includes a DIY froo bar there's lots of flavors to choose from here from dlsa delaye to New York cheesecake to strawberry and mango Sunrise but the real Hidden Gem is the fact that you can grab some of that classic pineapple Dole Whip straight from the self-served machines too now the last time we had a self-served Dole Whip machine on Disney property open to the public was back when Captain Cooks was open 24 hours pre Co pre- renovation Captain Cooks went through a renovation before Co and actually got rid of the self-served doet machine which is the saddest thing ever because it was open 24 hours so you could go get self- served doip any time of the day Morning Noon night midnight anytime it was amazing anyway that's gone now so now you can head over to the dolphin to get your self-served doll whip fixed now you may also be able to make it into a pineapple do lip and coconut swirl if you want it and then you can load it with whatever toppings you want after that do whip Freedom tastes that much sweeter be careful though because with great do whip power comes great responsibility fuel doesn't charge its fro yo by the cup the way Captain Cooks used to it charges it by the ounce 68 cents per ounce to be exact so if you get a little too self-served happy you might find yourself with one super expensive Dole Whip In the End be careful and now I've got a question for all of you which Disney World Resort
