How Jamie Kern Lima Became Unstoppable

[Music] hi i'm jamie kern lima founder of it cosmetics and author of the new book believe it welcome to my success magazine cover shoot [Music] i'm not just a reader of success magazine in the early years of building my company long before it was a billion dollar company when we were really small even then i would tag success on social hoping they would notice my company so i am a big fan [Music] my first really big win with it cosmetics was after three years of hearing no we got one shot on qvc it all came down to this 10-minute window the story is crazy one of the biggest life and business lessons i've ever learned but it was that moment that changed everything making the decision to be an entrepreneur is crazy we're the crazy ones right you all know we're the crazy ones but i made the decision because i just had this knowing deep down inside i was supposed to take that step i was supposed to launch the dream even though i didn't know how it was going to happen and for many years it didn't look like it was going to happen [Music] and so i had this deep why that was like so deep from a lifetime of feeling not enough where i thought i'm going to create a makeup company where the products work but then i'm going to cast all types of models like every age every shape every size every skin problem right every skin tone and i want to try to shift culture it was like a way a way bigger thing that became not about me at all it's like i want to try to shift culture in the beauty industry for every little girl who's about to see all these images and start doubting herself and every grown woman and person who still does i believe two things allowed me to be successful one is keeping faith that's the first thing and just hearing that still small voice inside the biggest thing i think also that allowed me to be successful um was learning how to believe right so many of us work really really hard and so many of us don't give up but at the end of the day i think that's like the price of admission when you're an entrepreneur how i started with close to nothing and built a billion dollar company i think the most important thing i did was make the decision to believe that i could if we stay in our comfort zone when we know when we have a knowing that we're supposed to give more or serve more or create more i think that it comes at the price of chipping away at our own soul and i think that it is so easy in life to talk ourselves out of our own truth and literally not to get so dramatic enough but literally never become the person you're born to be our biggest risk to our business isn't our competitors or what they're doing our biggest risk is us getting distracted by it and tempted to dilute our own secret sauce i hope that every reader no matter where you're at your own journey of building your business launching your dream going after your hopes and your inspirations and your aspirations i hope that out of my story you have a whole new level in yourself of going from all that self-doubt of overcoming the self-doubt uh and learning to turn down the volume on it learning to believe in yourself trust yourself know you're enough and know that your dreams are possible [Music] the biggest thing that i've learned is that none of us are here to compete with anyone else like i believe we're here to compete with who god made us capable of becoming and i know for me i'm nowhere there yet [Music]
