How I Redesign My Subscribers Logos Ep3

hello everyone welcome back to my channel as you asked for this is the third episode of redesigning your logos series i received hundreds of emails i enjoyed going through all of them but i picked only four for this episode don't worry if your work is not featured today you still have the chance to be included in another video make sure to watch to the end of the video and have a nice watching the first logo is coming from taya bashir from pakistan he designed this logo for his friend who is starting a wash and dry business that will pick laundry and wash and dry it then deliver it in 24 hours what i will say is that this is too much for a logo there is no need to exactly describe what the business does and for the colors i will not use more than two and finally this is too long for a business name i think it needs to be changed a quick idea that comes to my mind a flying swirly t-shirt i will roughly sketch it then i will refine it using adobe illustrator i'll start by making the t-shirt so with the ellipse tool i'll just make a circle swap the fill and stroke then i increase the stroke size to 80 points i go to object path then add anchor points we've just added four anchor points so one more time go to object path add anchor points we added four more anchor points leave the top three ones and select the rest then press delete now i resize this line to make it wider then i go to object expand and press ok now i make a rectangle here and i select the two shapes and from the align panel i align them to the center i stretch this a bit down and i will make the rectangle a bit thinner and i move it a little bit up i select the two shapes and from the pathfinder i click on unite with the ellipse tool i make a circle then i drag it here to the center select everything and from the pathfinder click on minus front now i will make the swirl part hold click on the width tool and select the twirl tool hold click on the t-shirt and you will get a swirl effect you should find the right spot to get a perfect and smooth swirl i think i'll make the shirt shorter and with that whirl tool i make the effect so far so good i select the t-shirt and with the eyedropper tool i'll take this blue color then i make it a little darker i select the shirt and make it bigger i think this curve needs to continue smoother so with the pen tool i click here and drag the handle then i click here and i close the path i select the new shape with the shirt and i unite them now i shrink the shirt down then to make a little washing effect i make a circle here then i hold alt and duplicate it like this and i make it bigger as the name of the business is on the fly i select everything and i rotate it a little bit like this to make it look like flying or in motion the logo name is on the flywash and dry i think it is long enough and there is no need to include the long slogan so i write on the fly in a bigger size i drag it here then i shrink the logo a little i move it up here and i put the type here too now i change the type to etrusco now condensed bold i think this font fits the business of laundry washing i make it a little bigger i align it to the center then i hold out and drag it down to duplicate it then i write the rest of the name wash and dry and i replace the end with an ampersand i shrink it down and i place it here then i give it the blue color then i change the font to gotham light i make it smaller then i align it to the center now i try a different lock up i will make it horizontal i duplicate the logo i drag the pictorial here to the left then i align this line like this then i make it bigger and that's that before we continue i want to clarify something if you want to participate in this logo redesign series please mention your name emmanuel ruzick from croatia he is a beginner ui ux and logo designer he made this logo for his friend's handmade candle business the logo looks great and can be used like it is but the only thing is that the illustrated candle on the letter n is too small and will not be clear in small size that's what i will change so i start by typing the logo name with the type tool one click here i make it bigger then i change the font to monster at bold i go to type then change case and change it to uppercase double click with the type tool and i write n light now with the pen tool i will redesign the candle flame shape one click and i drag the handle that way one more click here and i drag then i hold alt and rotate the handles to this angle then i close the shape and drag the handle while holding shift and now with the direct selection tool i adjust the curves to make it smoother okay this is our flame shape i make it a little bigger then i go to object path then offset path i set it to minus 15 then i press ok with the eyedropper i give it the white color then i hold shift and i shrink it down like this i rotate it a bit and i drag it down i stretch it a little bit up then i select everything and click on minus front i drag it up here then i shrink it down i could use the space between the n and the l to make the wax part of the candle but i want to only use the letter n as a standalone mark so i'll place it here and make it a bit bigger that way this space will be the wax of the candle okay it looks good so far i hold out and drag the type down then i write the word candles and i change its weight to light i make it smaller and i change the tracking to 400 points then i go to type and i change it to uppercase then i align it with the main name and this is our final logo now i will try to make some different lockups so i select this and i hold alt and drag it right right click on the type and create outlines double click and i delete those letters now with the ellipse tool i make a circle i swap the fill and stroke then i go to the type on path tool i click on the circle and i type the name i reduce the font size to 36 points and the tracking to 400 points then i put it over here then i rotate it to align it to the center now i make another circle and i type on the path the word candles then with the eyedropper i copy the attributes from the main logo i decrease the font size to 24 points then i go to type then type on a path then i click on the options i select the flip option then i press ok i think i need to increase the tracking i'll set it to 800 points then i put it right here and i rotate it to align it i make it a little smaller i do the same for the main name i decrease its size i rotate it to the right a little then i select both words then right click and i create outlines then i make another circle i swap the stroke and fill then i increase the stroke size then i go to object expand and i press ok then with the eraser tool i hold alt and i drag to delete this part then i do the same for this part some more for this part i'll just move this a little bit up and we are done i hold out and duplicate the letter mark to the right then we have three different lock-ups for the same new logo the third logo is designed by hayder said from ethiopia he made this using powerpoint he told me that he is a beginner and he asked me for a free alternative to adobe illustrator a great free alternative is inkscape you can download it for free and you can watch the logos by nick channel to learn how to use it this logo is designed for a counseling and training nutrition and health related business the name is bright counseling and training as always i will say too much details will not work for a logo this monogram will be read as cbt or ctb we should respect the priority of the letters and it should be red bct the head is a bit too detailed and the colors are somehow odd i'll start by making the head more simple and geometric so i'll make a circle then with the pen tool i'll just illustrate the nose and the chin i select everything and from the pathfinder i click on unite with the direct selection tool i select the anchor points of the nose and the chin then i drag the widgets to make them rounded with the eyedropper tool i pick the blue color i make it a bit smaller then i drag it here you can see that we made a more simple head shape i hold out and drag it a little bit to the left then right click and i bring it to the front i go to edit and i copy the face then i select the two shapes and i click on minus front then i go to edit and i click on paste in place then i hold shift and i drag the front face to the left like this you can see that with the negative space we made an illusion of a third face this technique is inspired by soul bases girl scouts logo now i will illustrate the brightness effect but no need for too many details like this i go to the star tool then i click on the canvas i change the value to four points and i press ok i drag it here and with the direct selection tool i hold shift and i select those corners then i drag the widgets to make them rounded i drag it and put it over the face then i give it the white color i resize it to fit the face and i line it to the center and we are done i'll move to the logo name with the type tool i click on the canvas and i write the word bright i make it bigger then i change the font to mont bold and i set the tracking back to zero i make it bigger then i duplicate it double click and i write the rest of the name then i change its way to light i give it the blue color and i align it with the main logo name i think i'll change the weight to regular then i try to make everything well aligned since the business is nutrition and health related i will change the color to a sort of green color i think this green will do the work for me i give the tagline the color green too i drag this to the right and i put the pictorial here in the left of the type and this is so far our redesign for this logo the fourth and the final logo is designed by piet gal from poland it's for his honey shop business this is a good logo there is not too much to change what i don't like is the gradient yellow and the contrast between the solid wings and eyes and the rest of the body makes it look more like wasp than a bee so i will try a more simple and geometric b i'll start by making the wings of the bee so i make a square then i rotate it by 45 degrees i hold shift and i select these three anchor points then i drag the widgets to make the corners rounded and we got a shape of a b wing i rotate it by 45 degrees then i drag it here then i hold alt and duplicate it to the right then i go to object then transform and then reflect then i press ok i select the two wings and unite them then i make them a bit smaller now i make a little circle then i select it with the wings then i align it to the center now i go to the polygon tool then one click on the canvas make sure to set it to six sides then i press ok i make it a little smaller and i rotate it by 90 degrees i drag it a little bit down and i select the top anchor point and i drag it to much the body shape with the wings i select everything and i align it to the center to make the stripes of the abdomen i go to the rectangle tool and i make a horizontal rectangle like that then i color it with white then i hold alt and i duplicate it to the bottom i select the two rectangles and i go to object and i group them and i select them along with the abdomen and i click on minus front i shrink it down then i make another polygon then i take this gradient yellow i think it's better to change it to a solid color right click then arrange and i click on center back then i drag it here and rotate like that and i stretch it to align it with the b abdomen i select everything and i make sure that it is well aligned and this is pretty much our pictorial for this logo moving to the type i am not gonna do too much i'll just write the logo name then i make it bigger i cut this part of the name and i stretch this up then i drag it here then i duplicate it then i paste the rest of the name now i change the font to pigeonique bold it's similar to the font used in the national geographic logo now i tried to align the logo name and that's it thank you
