there was a girl whose name was Martina and all she wanted was to make a simple wand but her subscribers wanted more they demanded a masterpiece unlike anything they had ever seen before will she be able to step up and fulfill her destiny or is she doomed to fail this one time when the subscribers need her the most [Music] you asked for this do you even know how hard it is just to get some wood that is not pioneer in Norway like if I freak this up I have to eat noodles for every meal for the next month well I'm not one to back down from a challenge am i but before we make a freaking epic wizard staff I gotta tell you about today's sponsor chances are you've already heard about rainshadow legends the free-to-play mobile fantasy game that you can also play on your computer the point of this game is to collect champions and improve upon them have a line here is one of the starters but I think she's a really really good champion she makes a really good team with this guy called miscreated mouths sure he's also really good so the way you get your champions is either from luring them in the campaign and also you can summon them in this portal here so if I grab at ancient charge which is a bit better than the mystery shard I can summon one and there we go I have a new champion that I can either use as food to rank up my other champions or I can decide to like level enough and max amount and I've gathered all these champions for the past couple of weeks and it's so much fun I love this game honestly I just love that it looks so good you're a real gamer and end up installing the game please join hands and eyes clan we need some real firepower so if you want to join us in the game go to the video description and click on the special links you will get 50,000 silver and a free epic champion as part of their new player program to start your journey thank you rate your game is true epic and so are you for sponsoring this video and back to the project let's make it frickin staff [Music] I figured none of these were really great so I kind of ended up on this one how the Frick am I supposed to make a plank into a rod but if I made some kind of jig maybe like this and just like chop off the top when I have that I can use a hand planer to take of these little corners and I'm with the staff right you know let's just try to make this drink let's go actually I need to clean up after myself now we can go through [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so I've done quite a bit on the staff already um I had to make a jig to turn this square shape into a round rod and it worked pretty well to turn it into an octagon and then I used a hand planer to make it into a proper rod but then after I turn it into rod I figure Oh Frank I have to split it because at the top here on the centerpiece of the staff I really want to put a couple of LEDs that is going to be triggered by a button here on the handle to connect the button to the LEDs I have to run some wires through the whole staff and so I used my Dremel to make a little channel on the inside of the plank glued it back together and it turned out really well you can't even see the places where it's glued so now we have a channel we have a round staff what's going on here well I glue these pieces to the side because as the centerpiece of the staff I want to have like an epoxy sphere and that has to be held in place by something wrapping around it so the next thing we're going to do is to start carving out this top piece and make space for that skier [Music] [Music] I just figured out that I didn't carry my coffee cup and also the staff kind of looks like a wrench right now it just destroys the epic anyway get your together so now before I go into too much detail on the staff I have to figure out the things that I find kind of boring and kind of hard and that is how to fit the electronics and how to make it accessible later after I fit them in there and the first thing I have to do is to cut out this triangle shape and I'm just gonna do that real quick on the bandsaw and there [Music] [Music] I got a bit carried away with the carving last night because it was very fun but that also means that I kind of neglected the hard part and I have to deal with it now hmm I guess that's why I'm gonna place the electronics inside here right I really have to be able to access the electronics to get the batteries and the LEDs in case I have to switch them out that means that I can really glue all the parts at the top together because then I can't access it I was thinking to make some kind of wooden piece and just kind of put it here and then maybe put some wooden plugs like at the bottom here and maybe one on this side to keep it in place so I will be able to take it in and out this piece will also have another function which is to keep the epoxy sphere in place so it's quite important that it both looks good and it's functional and that is kind of what I have to deal with today functionality is not my strong suit I feel like I'm better at making things just look good and it's very hard to make things work well what I'm just gonna do now is to cut out a piece like this and try to make it fit on the staff with a couple of wooden plugs let's try to make it work [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so it's finally time to deal with the electronics and this is just going to be a super super simple setup I got some single white LEDs right here these are going to be our light source they're going to be powered by a little three volt coin cell battery that I'm gonna put into this battery socket and solder this socket to the LEDs but because I don't want the LEDs to be on all the time I have to use a momentary push button to make the lights turn on so when I hold the button it's going to turn on the lights simple complicated part is actually inserting this into the staff but it should be fairly easy except for maybe the button because I've already made like the little channel and stuff okay so let's hook this up [Music] yeah okay so I thought it was a good time to do the epoxy pour because it has to cure for a while and I've done some testing and it hasn't gone very well so the first one I made was this epoxy sphere and the epoxy I used isn't really the best but I've never seen this much bubbles in that epoxy so that kind of surprised me there's no bubbles on the bottom just a ton at the top and I'm very confused so the next thing we tried out was to use the same epoxy but to cast it in two halves instead and the two halves are looking pretty pretty nice there are very few bubbles and they're nice and smooth I was kind of thinking to sand down the surfaces and glue them together with epoxy glue I don't really want to give up trying to cast it in one go just yet a few moments if you okay epoxy update yeah it's not looking great it's very bubbly and also a little bit deformed on the underside for some strange reason I also tried to merge the two halves we had but the seam is not very pretty and also there's like a bubble in the middle that was just impossible to get rid of yeah the the whole epoxy thing is not going great but I don't want to give up just yet the first thing I want to try is to use the glass cast epoxy we have and the cast half of it first and then while it's still sticky pour the other half on top and try to like tap it a lot and hopefully make the bubbles rise to the top and not stick to the sides please work if it turned out better than the rest of them but there's still a ton of tiny tiny bubbles inside the epoxy and because I poured it into goes you can like see the line and it's just it's it it's not usable maybe I just have to buy one a glass bowl or something but that's comfy boring hey Martina I completely randomly made this DIY pressure chamber what's made out of plywood PVC pipe and it's absolutely unsafe that's perfect this will make the bubbles super tiny so you can't even see them here you are this sort of all my problems okay good luck [Music] [Music] yes finally epoxy without bubbles thank you my goodness all good catch it's not even a single bubble but it's just there's one more thing that I don't like and the circles around here just it's like a thorn in my eye like mmm I have to fix it I'm sorry else I'm gonna go crazy I think I think the easiest way to start sanding this down in defeat of the line is just to glue something to the flat end here that I can attach to my drill and I can hold it like this with some sandpaper in this hand and just use the drill to spin it around [Music] but now I have to do the difficult part which is just putting this inside this just as a placeholder I put this failed epoxy sphere at the top here and look how good it looks let's carve out some more space here and we deployed to fit in the electronics a few so it was about to start like mounting the electronics and everything but then I can realize that I have to sand down the whole staff first because I don't want all the dust in the electronics I kind of just skip that part you know how sandpaper works you brush it and then they become smooth and stuff it's so smooth oh I could use it as a pillow and also Hansie helped me out a lot with this sanding Thank You handy but now we can finally mount the electronics so the only things we have to do left is to first put in this sphere so that I can see how much space I have for the electronics then we can place the electronics inside the staff and mount the button finally we can wrap the handle with some cord and add some gold leaf details time for the final details [Music] oh my goodness I did not expect this project to take this much time and materials and energy but looking at the result I was so happy we went through this and thanks to our patrons and our YouTube members we were actually able to take this crazy staff idea and turn it into a real thing which is so cool as you probably understand the materials to make these kind of projects can be quite costly and also if honty weren't able to make the pressure chamber the result wouldn't have been as good as they are now and so you guys are supported real helps us out with funding these projects and just keeping the channel alive in general and so I just wanted to say that I really appreciate every single one of you and that you really make a difference for us oh and by the way you might have seen me wear this cool ass shirt throughout the video and I know y'all like books just like me so if you want to pick up one of these bad boys make sure to check out that merch down in the description thank you all so much for watching this video and while you are waiting for our next video make sure to follow us on Instagram where we post quality content just like this and we're also on Twitter and roll the final shots [Music] you [Music]
