alright guys so I have my external hard drive plugged in here that has all of my files for the music video that we're going to be editing bon feast text text featuring climate lights so we're going to go ahead and open up the external find everything in your folder here so we have all of the clips your performance scenes and b-roll of the music video I'm gonna go into my search bar type in Final Cut Pro tattoo pop-up so first thing I'm going to do is type in on fees text tags and I'm going to copy that save I'm going to go to new event to that in a new project so we're going to be shooting or editing in 4k resolution 3840 2160 24 frames because this is what I shot all my performance scenes in Apple ProRes 4 - - okay so we have it open here so an empty folder we have successfully made a project so here we have our event area and this is where we're going to drag all of our scene basically so this entire folder here we're going to drag everything into the event area now I'm going to click mat 9 on my Mac and it is going to pop up the rendering kind of screen so it's importing all the media which can take some time especially if you're shooting in 4k and then I'll have the rendering tab right here so we're going to exit out of that if you don't want to use the hotkey you can always click it on the top left here so you can click that I'll pop up so first thing I'm going to do first thing I do every time is I right-click on the bond fees text xvii event folder so I right click and I'm going to click this right here new keyword collection so this is basically like a subfolder and I'm going to type in performance this is literally just to to organize all my footage nicely so I can so don't feel like sift through the entire event page look for all my b-roll and look for my performance scenes it's just a pain in the ass so and then I usually make another one for b-roll usually I'll have 4 Kb roll and then 1080p b-roll but I know that this is a point-and-shoot video so there's not any 4k I don't think it just wasn't a very intricate shoot so we're just going to stick with just b-roll and performance so what I do is I sit through everything I click this icon up here information tab and I'm going to see 24 P which is true 24 frames 3840 by 2160 I know this is a 4k clip and I know that all of my performance scenes are shot in 4k so this is for sure a performance scene now we're in our event page which shows all of our scenes here so we'll start at the very first one we'll click it we'll see it's a performance scene we'll click it into performance easy another performance scene says 24 frames performance scene this is a b-roll scene because I look over here in 1920 by 1080p it's a 60 frames per second shot so this is obviously b-roll because I'm going to sift through this in slow motion any cool shots in there and kind of play around with that far shot that is a performance as you can see 24 frames this is all b-roll here this is at the next scene performance scene and this is a little intro clip so we're going to put that in B roll 2 now I open up my iTunes and I find the song right here so C bond fees text text and I'm going to click it drag it into my event folder so we're up here in this one and then I'm also going to drag it into my performance area right here so now the song is in the keyword collection as well as the event so we're going to sift right up here and you're going to look right here next to hide rejected in this drop down area there's going to be this thing right here kind of looks like 2 bars you're going to click that it's going to toggle everything here and you're going to see everything laid out like this and you're going to start at the bottom hold your Shift key hold your shift key and click up click your arrow up key and highlight everything here so now you have every single performance scene including the mastered version of the song highlighted you're going to right-click and new multicam clip this is very important this is going to make your music video editing a thousand times easier I can guarantee you at 4 or 5 Cut Pro so we're going to left-click we're going to name this bond fees text text multicam clip I'm going to leave this starting to code at 0 we're going to leave this at 4k obviously 24 frames Apple ProRes 42 click ok I guess it like kind of acts as like its own sort like it's a multicam clip so it's multiple camera angles in one clip and you're about to see that in just a second here once this renders out so what Final Cut Pro is trying to do right now is synchronizing so you can see right there synchronizing the clips so it's trying to synchronize all the audio together so that the clips can be all in order and prepped and ready to jump back and forth with so here you'll see once that's all finished up you're going to see one feast xx multicam clip it's going to be at the very bottom here if you do lose it or get lost just go back into your event folder here click your two bars right there go to the bottom and you'll see the multicam clip and it's going to show like a four square the four squares there so that's your multicam click clip you're going to drag it drop it as your primary so you got your multicam clip here perfect now what you're going to do is you're going to double click your multicam clip while it's in your timeline now don't get alarmed this looks a little confusing I know I'm going to walk you through it though it's not as bad as it looks so these are all separate Clips these are all separate performance Clips that we imported within this multicam clip so at the very top we have our mastered version of the song so this is what's going to be playing in the background as you can see here I'll give you just a quick walk around of what you're looking like inside of a multicam clip right here you can see a little monitor and when you click it it gets highlighted so let's say we want to look at this scene right here where bon peace is rapping we're going to click that little monitor and now it's viewing this scene specifically let's say we want to look at the convenience store scene we're going to click the monitor and it's going to show the performance scene of on feet in front of the being in store now let's say we want to click the bridge seen right here the close up and we also want to hear the audio from the bridge scene because what we really want to accomplish through a multicam clip is to make sure that every single scene inside of this multicam clip is perfectly aligned audio wise now this can be a huge pain if you're using a Bose speaker setup because we're obviously shooting outside so I was shooting with a with just a wireless speaker so sometimes it's not very loud because when you're running around with your camera on a glidecam or a gimbal or even just free-handing and you're you know eventually a ways away from the speaker the camera isn't picking up your speaker's audio therefore you have to very carefully match everything up so I what I always do now I'm always going back and forth this takes me I've done it a couple times now so it takes me usually no more than 20 minutes to do it's very tedious work you have to be seriously patient but it is so worth it in the long run I'm probably going to speed through this um you're going to click the audio button on the actual mastered version of the song and let's start I guess with this first clip so I'm going to show you what it sounds like right now it's probably not perfect we're probably going to have to move this clip around and adjust it we're going to click the audio sound of this clip and let's just play press play and see how it sounds sometime mama say I say kick like mama tape see my life is kind of changed do we know you say I think I look like alright so this one actually sounds pretty good I must have had the boat speaker right up next to me but we're gonna scroll in here a zoom in and now this is the very tedious part is you have to find all of the little sound waves and match them up so this one see look I don't kind of actually made it like pretty dead-on that is okay yeah so this clip is actually like good to go as you can see I'm going to so sorry I'm going to take this icon off so now it's all the mastered version of the song playing right now so let's see if his limps lips are synced up to the from the raw footage into the master version of the song see my life it kind of say yeah we know you because I got into the look like that saying on my anything that's a ground setting sex got to taste like my site goodness yeah that's really good so let's go on to the next clip so that's a perfect example of final cut matching the audio from your camera audio to the actual master version of the song or whatever song you're playing the background this is specifically for a music video because you want your performance clips to match with your audio so let's go to the next scene we're going to click the monitor right there and we're on the next scene here so let's click the the little icon there for sound so now we're listening to the actual clip and we're going to press play and see how this sounds okay so this one's actually perfect too so yeah again I must have had the Bose pretty close by let's go to the let's go to this one let's go to a convenience store scene or press alright so this scene is completely off so what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to mute this main song and I'm just going to have this audio playing here so I'm going to press play sniffle [Music] okay so right here I can I can hear from the raw audio that the sound is going to start right here if you're looking at your audio I'll sometimes increase this to get that sound wave a little higher up and I think right here is when it starts listen again right here so this is what he's saying got the text so this is the exact spot where that song drops so what I'm going to do actually is now that I'm here hover your mouse over that area and click M on your keyboard and see what happens you're going to see that little cursor right there right here so that's basically just like a marker so that's exactly where the beginning of the song starts now I'm going to go into the actual audio here I'm going to turn this on I'm going to turn this audio off and now I'm going to listen for the beginning of the song where bond fee says that those first lyrics in the actual clip here will further up so right here right there so we're going to lean in a little bit so we can see now what I also like to do is over here this is um kind of what's it called snapping tools so it's going to snap your clips into place wherever your cursor thing here is and we don't really want that because we're going to be making such fine adjustments to these clips to match these audio waves at times so we're just going to click that off the hotkey for that is n so as you can see so I'm going to turn that off there and as you can see here right about there is when bond pieces first words pop off now you can use this for any part of the song but I usually feel like for trap videos they sound like you know it's like it's a drop it's always a drop and that's where you're either going to hear a beat drop or you're going to hear on the artists voice drop which spikes more than anything so it's just very easy to think up so we have that there so now this is sitting on this on the actual songs first word and now we're going to scroll down to here zoom out a bit let's find that marker so there's that marker so we're going to pull this over right here I'm just going to zoom in so this is perfect that should be good right there all right let's see if this is all synced up we're going to turn on this audio we have that audio on let's play it my mom I think I looking good so far skip ahead make sure sign yeah yeah so that's perfect so that audio is good so see this is the thing so we had how many other clips in that convenience store one two other clips two other clips so chances are if this one didn't line up these ones also did it so you're going to have to do the exact same thing I just did I'm not going to go through all that I have this all set up in another clip which I'm going to skip to and see now we have another scene here too so as you can see there's like one two three four ten different scenes so there are times where you know not like not one of these is actually going to sync up perfectly when you make the multicam clip so you can see how it's going to be a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes but I'm not sure exactly why it is so worth it so I'm going to duck out of here I'm going to close this event here so I'm going to duck out of this multicam clip here and I'm going to go to a multicam clip that is fully 100% edited and synced up so we're gonna go do that right now alright guys we're back here I have a fully edited multicam clip and I'm just going to show you how to utilize this perfectly we're probably going to get to it in a bit here once the beat drops on a song but just because we're going to do a whole entire intro part here what you're going to do now so you have your multicam clip open here now what you're going to do is you're going to go into your music file here you can either do it here or you can just do with your iTunes but actually it should actually be in here let's go look for it so look for the actual mastered version of the song so just find in our event area drag it into the bottom here make sure it lines up right at the end and it should be correct you're going to do now is actually just mute all of this multicam audio so if this ever spikes because you got to do to every single clip but you don't want anything to be playing you want it to all be playing through here reason being is because we're going to be chopping this multicam clip up like crazy throughout this entire project so you just want to have one smooth piece of audio on the bottom so how we're going to start this video the artist wanted it to start with this little clip here that we film I'm gonna put it here I'm gonna play it Oh feet alright so I want this to fade in I don't want it to just start like that so I'm going to go over here into this tab I'm going to go to dissolves fade to color see how this looks well feet so I wanted to open up right when he says ball face like right when he says name movie there we go hey so instead of it just sitting there I'm going to cut it up a little bit so I'm going to take out my blade tool press B blade there blade there I can see when he's going to talk again because I can see the sound waves here so whenever you see sound waves generally somebody is talking or there is like audio noise especially there spike like that so that's how I kind of know where to when to cut so I'm going to click on that middle clip delete that oh hey so when he says a hey what that could be a little more us hey so we're going to cut again so it's like continuously I'm basically cutting this up kind of like a vlog so whoa feet hey I see you it shakes you fine ah I'm a text yeah get right there so so as they're a little cool intro there and then I'm going to pull up into my text area and I'm going to go to generators and I'm going to go into custom so this is literally just a blank screen it's literally all it is yeah and you can change this to different colors to like it's kind of cool so yeah anyways we're going to keep this block so I use this to kind of like fade out so going to go here I'll put another dissolve yeah so that's good yeah so I just wanted kept my laughing in there so we're going to push that back hex yeah perfect okay so right after that we want the song to start so we're going to reduce that custom block there to both there yeah that's gonna be good right there I think we're going to go back into our project file here into our events we're going to click here going to go to performance we're going to go to b-roll so this is the beginning of the song we want it to show just basically the beginning confi said that he wanted the beginning part up until Clements area where climbing kind of like the future artist starts singing to be all focused on like these car scenes but I'm also going to incorporate some scenes here in front of the convenience store and then later on I'm going to incorporate stuff at the bridge so we're going to go here and I'm going to start right here with um the artist getting out of the car we're going to try to find a good shot now to sift through my clips because sometimes I take multiple angles with one clip I basically just click on the clip and I just hold down and I just drag my mouse and I can kind of see what's going on a little faster rather than sitting through the entire clip and then choosing so I think I'm going to go let's see how this one looks so we got two angles here from getting out of the car so we got multiple angles so we're going to get a shot of him kind of opening the door and getting out so look like that reduce the volume and come over here right when he is kind of getting out of the car right there yeah that's good I'll put that there let's see how this looks ok so we're going to stall this down I don't like how this looks on like 24 frames so we're going to go to slow motion this is shot in 1080p slow I'm going to click this area right here slow 50% and Shawn 60 frames so we can reduce this to 40% of anymore any slower than 40% and you're going to experience a lot of lagging and glitching so we don't want to do that so we're going to get here do sista for you well I need to go 50% or 40% I like to look at 40 though so maybe when he gets onto this phone this which day here so again I'm looking at these sound waves hair like like I can see right there that's when the beats going to change watch so I've just kind of gotten used to it so I'm going to click there blade tool delete that alright what I try to do is I try not to like especially for opening stuff when you're having the same like just the instrumental like the beginning instrumental playing I don't want it to cut to every single like however much this is like two seconds I don't want to cut every single two seconds because then people know that it seems going to change and you want it to be a little spontaneous so as you can see I go through actual like to set the beats there so we're going to listen here I'm gonna cut it right here so cut it to the next scene where maybe we'll go like Ray there we go okay so I wanna cut in the open side yeah so you know it's like some sort of store it's all caged up so you know it's like a convenience or something so we're going to slow motion that and I'm going to chop it to the beat yeah a plus store that's dope okay let's go do that so drag that in take that volume out of there 50% cool okay and then let's do one more scene out here one more scene what do we have here Oh Canadian flag perfect perfect perfect okay let's see where it waves really nicely right there that looks sick okay let's uh drag that into there so obviously in front of the convenience store it's really slow motion not to forty percent perfect hey the beat producers ah watermark comes in I like to do something cool for these let's see here I just want to listen to this again you know I think these beginnings moving a little too slow so we're maybe going to cut in another quick scene so so I'm going to cut it right there and let's see here see here actually we're going to get rid of that car scene because I really like this one a lot and we're gonna skip to this area where he's walking away from the car that oh so dope okay we're going to put that in there in slow motion this see that move this shot in twenty four things so we're good okay let's slow this down just a little bit okay so we're going to cut this one short the Canadian flag a little short right when it folds and we're going to go find a really funny kind of b-roll shot and I have a cool idea for it would see here here we go here we go here we go all right so yeah that's dope okay let's do that for these kind of swinging his arms talks out there I take that volume out and now I'm going to go up here I'll leave a download link for these this is a this is a film burn effect so basically what I'm going to do is I'm going to drag it over here and then I'm going to click on the film burn and I'm going to go over here to blend mode and I'm going to go to screen and actually I'm going to keep it up there [Music] okay at 6:00 so we're going to slow this down here a little bit again so there's also motion footage see like comes in handy man and you're shooting in 60 frames but as you can see like the like the producers watermark in the song kind of like flows with with this film burn so we have it at 100% opacity I think it looks really dope let's see here it is okay so right here we got to do something where we speed it up or something's got to happen so let's click this here let's go to normal speed let's increase it and then let's fast-forward everything like crazy now we have it fast forward so you can notice that it kind of does speed up there we got some cool b-roll shots here of them bon feasts and climate walking out of the store and kind of dabbing of his body so we're going to click here we're going to go to zero and we're going to play this back let's see if this is rendering how sure we should probably let it render all right so it speeds up and then it goes into a new scene with a very slight or very quick film burn effect so let's see how that looks so I basically just use the film burn as a very quick transition speed or piece so you can actually do that it's a really good idea you don't have to use like you don't always have to use the transitions in final cut so film burn transition is one of my favorites so let's see how this like you take that out and we'll do another film burn effect I love this film burn so let's click here let's actually speed this thing up I don't look down speed up that film burn it's not play by the rules here put it in between there all right so let's get back to something else I think that a one store is pretty dull actually you know what let's go back to the car let's uh before we do took this you know let's put it back in so we're going to go there and go slow 50% now we're going to go back to the a1 scene so we're just going to paste it back here and I want to get a shot of Clement coming out there too so yeah right there is do like this shot of the lock kind of sitting right there looks do okay so we can see the Sun Scott and like kind of very subtly peeking and and then it goes right into the song so we want it to be like a cool like opener so let's some vinegar right here and that's a good one and so we start at the very beginning of the scene right there click your scene that you want to edit go into crop click Ken Burns it's going to zoom in that much click done mom I said okay so now we're going to kind of mess with the multicam clip how you use this is let's say this is the drop area so this is where I want the song to start and fun fisa they wanted the song to start the very like the first part of it you really wanted to like be like car oriented we'll take the car so we're going to go up to the view here that's how you use the multicam clip you click show angles and it's going to show you all of your video angles so these are all the angles that we were just adding or that you've already edited in your multicam clip so we're going to click on you can see here this all the bridge footage go the next one one more bridge shot and then these are all the day one store the convenience store shots and the third one is all of our car scenes so we're going to go back into here hide angles don't edit with these with this area open because everything glitches out and you don't have a very big screen to watch your editing so go back to view hide angles it's already in that third space so now you go on your keyboard and you click click one you're going to see it changes to your first clip your first performance seen in the multicam clip click to the next one hit him sitting on the car click three one standing further away from the car so a farther shot of me on the gimbal click four and it's a raw shot with out the gimbal at all and so yeah we have like one two three four different clips to choose from and we can choose from these at any time throughout the song I believe we stopped when we hit climbing some features so we're just going to do the first like half of the song with these spots so we're going to find the most hyped possible scene to start this off of so that has to do with the car I think this one at all would be it so let's start here thanks magic ticket my mistake I just tested my mistake got the ticket Nam infected kissing my mistake yeah let's use the raw shot so so we're going to open up with that raw Shaw without the gimbal so right when he goes into the next sentence that's when we want to cut with our multicam clip so you're going to find that area with the second sentence I think it's right here let's listen this time I took that sauce ice all right there yeah it's click to a lava shot with him sitting up there on the bureau says dope okay let's see how this works because I might say like gimbal shot was a little rough there it's like my mistake that's a dope gimbal shot and now let's go cut two on top of the car maybe they kicked my I'm saying see my life it kind of changed yeah that looks good I were going to grab that clip there toss it on top for b-roll yeah we know you be displayed yeah that's dope and then wases god I think you look like oh I think you look like that I think you look like that [ __ ] tease it look like that I think it look like that I think you look like that girl like that how it did that movement and now we're going to go to here ain't no mommy that's a grand singing sex yeah so when he goes up the arms that's when we're going to switch to now it's another like kind of verse so we're going to I think go to the a1 store taste like a homicide 3c4 I did taste I gave my safety that did take side not my side so basically what I'm doing is for every sentence I switch up a new shot on the multicam clip unless I feel that I've been switching up too much then I'll keep it for two sentences and set up for one so for this last one I just kept it for two and now I'm going to cut when you hear like a tone change that's really when you want to exit out of that scene almost unless otherwise but big game so basically what I'm doing is I'm like I said I'm chopping everything up with my multicam clip and then when I go back like sometimes like if I get to this area and maybe all 10 of my scenes like don't actually walk up very well like maybe none of them are actually very good scenes or maybe you know I my Roden clips just were not good or just not capturing what I want to capture for that area that's when I will really resort to my b-roll and you can literally just lay a piece of b-roll over that and then you don't have to worry about it so you can you can put some cool effects in there or you can just let your b-roll like if I really didn't like that shot and I want to just toss some b-roll in there let's say we just for fun put this area right here and I went slow so we cover here big game when I'm tied to the bed now actually whatever you feel but I will literally go through this entire song I won't even really lay a piece of Bureau unless I really really feel like the need to but I'll go through the entire song and I will chop it up with the multicam clip and get all the shots that I want and then I will go through it and I will add fuel accordingly other than that like that's a pretty much how I go about getting my music videos I'm not going to color grading with this because simply it's just such a long kind of process I will be coming out with a video but yeah that's uh pretty much adjust of it I'm not going to edit my entire video but that's really how I do it as you can see like a lot of slow-motion I love doing that slow-motion for all the beginning stuff again I'm not going to color grade in this video I will add another one know for sure because I've been asking I've been having people like message me about that but my color grading for like the longest time but yeah this is just how I kind of setup my music videos again like then go from start to finish but like that would just be a really long video I'm gonna chop this up and kind of shorten it up a little bit but you know there's not thanks again for watching and we'll see in the next tutorial peace you
