guy say you say hi am i use this to show that we are on zoom hello and good morning from London a lockdown London today we're celebrating a year of the point sky UK YouTube and it's almost the anniversary of the British Airways fall class video that was our big viral hit I've got the boys with me Liam and Sean hi boys yeah but we're not gonna be recording a flight review today hi William no we're gonna be doing something that it's hopefully just as exciting for you guys we're gonna be answering all the questions that you've been sending us on YouTube so let's just crack on with the first question what was the idea behind the points guy UK well Brian Kelly he is the points guy hi I'm Brian Kelly the points go and for years and years he was making YouTube videos Tim flow he's not a huge website one of the biggest trauma websites in the world sadly does not pass test I was working as miles mogul this is Raj he's kind of running away from me doing flight reviews YouTube videos in a cockpit again and we've just flown in to Abu Dhabi this is the captain's Stefan he doesn't want to be there but and then finally Brian wanted to set up the points guy UK and I am here to help you maximize your travel across the board and I became the point Scott UK and we started doing the website and the YouTube videos shortened why don't you take the next one okay question number two how did you guys meet and who was the most awkward at first I remember having this story about Liam when he first started working to Fiji okay he suppose their work was actually his birthday [Music] and I remember going to things which should buy a birthday card and when I go back with the birthday card and I gave to Nicky to rice something like a little message and then you realize the perfect I was like a pink unicorn like very quite camp and Nicky was like now mate come on it's his first day at work we can't we can't just give that to him so I went back there and bought a football birthday card because I knew Leo liked football I think looking back now you know a pink unicorn cards probably a lot more on brand 40 fishy K and to be honest having having just come from working in football I was sort of looking to get away from that whole that whole world so I think that the pink the pink car would have been the better option to be honest and funnily enough that brings us on to the next question which is do any of you support football teams now me personally I'm a huge West Ham fan and that's actually how I got my start in sort of social media in the digital world know I very early I realized that I wasn't good enough to be a footballer so I thought I would start writing about it and making content about it instead so when I was 15 I launched I earned views which was my football channel hello and welcome to the new and improved Army's TV and that led me to working in the Sun sports team well someone who was injured in that West Brom game obviously and well finally one other player I won't talk about and after three is there yeah I want to make the jump into the travel world and the the TP Guk opportunity came up and just the right time I knew this question was gonna come up so how do you get to decide who travels each class the first time we have a did a video the British Airways for plus one it was completely by chance it really was so we wrote first business penal economy and economy on little pieces of paper No and we put them under cups Christian Joe and Dan and I and we mix the cups around and everybody took a cup and lifted it up and yeah buddy I'm going in business just by chance I got first class so I gotta travel first actually Jean got to travel economy I'm going to I need like focus I don't know there we go who knows what it is he's done it before economy yes being random from years well I think when I got first class on a Singapore first-class Suites was not a really scheduled or planned there's a little story to it you wanna tell the story Nicky now you tell the story you tell the story yeah let me let's say let's take you back in time to Gleneagles back in time hey Ben you switch teams with John because he's gonna film one team in yep slow swing mmm Pam we're about to go clay pigeon shooting and the competition is happening so who splits two teams you and me and Christian whoever the winner of this is is battling against Dan Brian and Ben and then the ultimate winner if it's not Brian they get to review Singapore Suites from London to Singapore Paul you did well did you just thought I think I was really like I was really fancy my chances actually I was doing better than my folks I've never really done this before and then you came along Sean and you were like yeah I was very lucky like the Brian Brian got much more points but because he won his team and I was my team that we went to the final I remember the tension so well it was just so much at stake Wow the moment of truth for hey you wanted like a little place Chiqui asking for a place at the right the end he was like okay there's only four and Brian got the first two and then he got another one but he missed this last one so all I had to do is to hit all of them all the for love the celebration and that's how I got to fly Singapore new Suites to Singapore what about you Liam well my first time flying first class was actually not random you know being new to the flying world and the points of miles world I'd never flown in anything above economy before so I was so naggy away it is wrong and Nikita let me come on these sort of trips and one day they pulled up to me in the office and they said Liam do you fancy flying first class with Lufthansa to New York this weekend and I couldn't say no flying first class first thing first time ever yeah thank you very much the second time however was completely random and I had no idea about it c18 what mission is your sort of ambush me at 5:00 a.m. in Doha Airport so hopefully how this is gonna play out is we're gonna go to check-in he's gonna go to economy check-in he's gonna give his passport and they're gonna say sir new word applause you're in the wrong place yeah and we're gonna see his reaction which I was so excited about he's not here sleeping here and after sort of thinking the entire trip that I'd be flying economy on the way back my boarding pass printed out and I said one a on it and it turns out I was flying Qatar Airways first class which was as probably seen absolutely unreal coming through to private first class cabin Sean and Ike had that secret for so long and Liam actually kept saying he's like not flying a corner move not flowing economy and I want to fly economy on this wire and Sean and I were just like deal with it mate deal with it yeah again we put up all class and piece of paper and Liam took economy and I took first class right I was I was feeling pretty hard done by this point so I think the last three or four flights we're done filming I've been in the economy so I sort of felt like it was my turn for first again so we've had so many questions about how we make our videos and it's important to say that a lot of time and love and effort goes into each and every video and it starts off with planning storyboarding getting all the ideas together and that's a team effort between everybody yeah it's funny you know I think a lot of people think we turn up with this sort of huge professional crew behind us but it really is just us on our equipment and in terms of what we use you know we have a really sort of good canon g7x which is a nice discreet little camera and the whole experience will start to finish we're gonna see it all same one I'm using right now we have a couple of microphones we have a go probe some sort of the onboard shots and yeah it's it there's no there's no pre with us it's just us filming in the airports on the flights yeah always just us but still if it's just us we're talking about at least one main camera and a GoPro the GoPro we don't like to move very much we just attach the seat and that's it so we have two cameras each if you record if recording like for class reveal that's eight cameras so I end up editing these videos and we're talking about 10 to 20 hours of footage that I have to cut down to 10 to 20 minutes so that takes a lot a lot a lot of time cool so the next question is don't know why you only have 225 thousand followers your stuff is amazing well firstly thank you really appreciate the the kind comments and to be honest I think in 225 thousand subscribers is incredible for one year you know having worked on various brands on YouTube for a while I've never seen growth like that in my life and I think you know it comes down to a number of different factors from just the team making creative content and doing really cool stuff hasn't been done before but in particular there's one video that really sort of set the set the magic going for our YouTube channel Jordan Shauna talked about that a little bit yeah so we start of course with Xero and we've probably loaded welcome to BG okay when we launched [Music] and then which was just like a one minute introduction of who we are what we're doing then we started with credit cards and like let me explain let me explain this in more detail and then that would be doing pretty well we had like a few of thousands of deals maybe five thousand fields then we had the British hours for class review which of course took a lot longer to make or the big idea we have a structure sorted for our you know I think it's gonna be insane one video takes this much prep we spent they wouldn't believe it for hours already just to you the structure that was same day it's done why I think because we had the team of people like loving to do you know to fly and to do all that so it's currently five M and pipe two hours sleep and I'm checking into the second flight of the trip to acaba then we thought that this could work and he did work and I remember having four thousand fields in the first day then another four thousand zeros in second day [Music] and those four thousands were turning to 8,000 18,000 until was hitching a hundred thousand a day and then in one day there was like the peak was 450,000 zeros in one day in that video so it went completely crazy we would never expect it to be that successful but then that made us think okay we should probably do more that and we have done how many have we done now Nikki oh my god we've done so many airline review videos amongst all the other ones but we've done which share ways the economy Middle East and one on Emirates Etihad and the Emirates 3 class super comfortable that's the biggest thing nice it is very much Lufthansa for class British Airways new club world virgin 3 class on the new 350 join the Singapore a new suite that you did wrong by yourself the economy comparison on the day flights from New York Singapore for class sri lankan mate let's say you got it Qatar so we seem to find this sweet spot of what we're obsessed with doing and what you guys love watching and that's why our channel will continue to grow and continue to go viral and we hope to keep doing it and growing the channel even more and making more amazing content for you guys which brings me on to the next question what's the next trip you have planned we have few cheeky videos in the can a little man down there 20 minutes walking from one side to the IQ 5 minutes 35 minutes that we shot just before the coronavirus crisis kicked off so stand by keep watching the
