[Music] hello friends Heidi here from rain country god is good all the time and today I'm going to be making two different pain relief capsules so these are going to be herbal blends some of this is going to be herbs that grow myself and some of this is going to be stuff that I buy organic and I'll be sharing those with you but before I move on to that there's a few things I want to cover now one is I'm not a doctor I'm not a licensed natural path or bolused whatever and so I'm only going to be showing you what I do as information only and so you can kind of take that and get an idea of how you can make your own herbal remedies and I recommend you do some research there are all kinds of herbs out there that are great as both analgesic and for anti-inflammatory and a lot of times you'll find that if they're one they're actually both not in all cases but quite a bit of the times and another one is sometimes the ones that are really good with their sedative properties also are good for pain especially when you're talking about migraines or any kind of headaches that are brought on by stress because if you can relieve the stress and kind of calm yourself that will also help relieve the pain so I'll go over a few of these but what I recommend you do and I say this in almost every herbal based video is that you get yourself at least a couple of good books like the ones I have here Amy feels book they're herbal companion homesteaders herbal companion and what I forgot to turn someone the other way and then the Rodale Illustrated encyclopedia of herbs and I have a lot more books like this but I'll link to these two below and I'll try to link to maybe a couple more as I if I remember to do so these are a couple of really great options to start with but you can also and I always recommend having hard copies on hand because you cannot you will not always have access to the Internet so having a hardcopy book is really important but it's really easy to look these things up by simply going to do browser and saying best herbs for pain that will be the easiest one to go by and then consider who you're going to be giving this to if it's going to be children pregnant women and so on make sure you check out our people on any kind of medication or with certain types of allergies make sure you look up that specifically if that herb is safe once you find something you think okay this might be a good herb but is it safe for children is it safe for the elderly is it safe for somebody on such-and-such medication and so on and so forth look all these things up before you administer it too and if your family or even to yourself no we have no allergies we're not on any medications even though we once used to be we have long since taken ourselves off of them and gone all natural and then I also wanted to point out I have a video I did a while back on making your own pain relief extract and now the reason this is an extract and not a tincture is because it's not made with 80 proof alcohol or higher so a tincture is made with a high alcohol content where this I can actually can't remember what I made it with I think I made this with glycerin and my own homemade wine if I remember because that's what I've been doing a lot of my extracts with but I will link to this video below if you're interested in learning how to make an extract and extract is a very powerful way to get a good medicinal herb however when you're talking about things like one of the herbs I'll be using today because it is one of the ones I find most effective for pain is feverfew fever if you is very bitter so taking it in the form of a tea or an extract is quite unpleasant but that's why I'm also going to be showing you some other things that you can do as well so as a result it's good to have other ways that you can take it or other types of herbs and spices that you may take instead so I'm always still looking for better ways to get good a good analgesic because what I found is some of the things that work good for me don't always work quite as good for Patrick now we both seem to do pretty good when we eat the feverfew and the catnip together fresh from the garden but as a tincture or an extract it doesn't seem to work as well for him as it does for me so I've been learning more and going deeper in depth on different spices and herbs specifically like to look at things I can grow myself but I also look at things that I can stock up on easily enough such as some organic tumeric and I get mine through the subscribe to a program on Amazon and that's that's one way to do it so the the tumeric is very effective for a couple days in a row for some reason I'm not sure what brought it on but I had some just real sharp headache and instead of going for my extract like I normally would well normally what I do is just live through it because I think that's the best way to deal with certain kinds of pain but if it's that kindness just may be really affecting your ability to sleep or just to be able to get something done because it just hurts too much to move that was the kind of pain I had that day is every time I move my head it just ached and I knew I had to deal with it I normally I'd reach for my extract but I decided to go with my tumeric capsules and that was actually worked really good within 20 minutes the pain was gone just like with any other over-the-counter very toxic ibuprofen or acetaminophen both of these are very toxic okay so let's move on to my first blend and that's gonna be the tumeric brennick blend and I'll talk about a few options that you can do with this since tumeric has a tendency to stain I'm gonna be using this glass bowl or ceramic bowl rather than one of my favorite new wood bowl rice bowls that Patrick made me you can also choose to wear gloves I don't always do this because I figure if tumeric can get in through my skin that's good too but if I know I'm gonna go somewhere within the next couple of days I'll then usually put on some kind of gloves to just protect my fingernails and my skin from getting stained okay so let's start with a tablespoon of the tumeric okay now I know that one tablespoon is three teaspoons so 200 again very excellent source for pain and now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go with thee a half of a teaspoon and I'm gonna add some ginger to yeah so this would be basically be one part two six parts so one part ginger six parts of the turmeric ginger is a very good pain relief so I'm looking at all the things that I know are really great for pain relief and the other one I'm gonna do another half teaspoon of is the cayenne pepper because it's the capsaicin and capsaicin is in all of your hot peppers anyway capsaicin is also very good for pain now this would actually be just fine as it is but for those who might be concerned of the uptake of the tumeric and just want to make sure you really increase it I recommend adding just a little bit maybe let's just do another half teaspoon of some fine ground black pepper it's the Pickering in the black pepper that will increase the uptake and make the concurrent curcumin within the turmeric more bile available however one thing you need to know is that no you do not always need black pepper to increase the uptake of the curcumin I have a video that I did two years ago that I'll go ahead and link in the description box down below don't forget to hit show more and I I recommend especially if you're allergic to black pepper or you just don't like it I recommend you check out that video because you might be surprised to find out how many different ways that you can either prepare your tumeric or things that you can combine it with that will make it very bioavailable and increase the uptake within the body okay so now the next thing I'm gonna do is get my non-gmo gelatin capsules I believe these are the veggie caps so if you're vegan I believe that's what these ones are I'll go ahead and link to the ones I get down below I think these are size double zero and make sure whatever you look for is non-gmo cuz some the gel caps are made with genetically modified ingredients so double-check that now you can get a actual in that to make it easier well some people find it easier to fill their capsules with and if you think you'd be interested in something like that I'll go ahead and link to one of those down below me I have absolutely no interest in those because I feel like I can do this just as quick with less mess and I can get more in the capsule because of the way I'm doing it but however you do it is entirely up to you now let me and mix these ingredients together first I almost forgot to do that duh so you want to blend it well and another thing to do would be to combine it in a small jar first and shake it up really good and then put it in your bowl but having a bowl where it's not too big of a bowl but it's wide enough they can get my fingers and that's what works for me I just made a mess because the capsule slipped out of my hand and my first attempt that doesn't normally happen there you can see I got stuff everywhere but anyway what I do is I take the capsule and I fill both sides as full as I can and then I push them together and then I just kind of flick it like that to get some of that excess off and there we go there's my capsule and I can make quite a few of these in a short period of time and then what I recommend is finding some small jar if you're concerned about you know like here I actually keep all my homemade supplements in one thing and I know the difference between all of these I have Moringa I have ashwagandha I have eggshells I have tumeric and this is a difference this is basically just tumeric right here I might have a little pepper mixed in with those ones but because I'm making this one specifically for pain remedy I'm gonna go ahead and store it in a separate separate jar now this was something I just did a video on recycling bottles and jars and here's one I of course I knew I was forgetting some and that is a before I start growing my own horseradish I used to buy the horseradish in these little jars like this and these make really good jars for storing things such as cow soles for pain and I'm probably going to put both of the ones I make in here now let's move on to the next one I'm gonna make and this is all herbs from my own garden now I don't grow ginger or turmeric I've tried several times with both and those do not grow for me I do grow cayenne pepper from time to time but though that one particular one I did buy because I usually don't powder up my own cayenne pepper I use that another way yeah with the tablespoon and what I'm gonna be doing is I'm gonna be powdering these herbs up since right now I just have them in a more flaked to kind of a form yeah I'll put them in here I'm gonna do a majority of this I'm gonna put me putting in the dried fever a few leaves and flowers the leaves are where most of the benefits are but the flowers do have some in them too okay now that I'm thinking about let me put two tablespoons because once this is powdered up it's gonna be a lot smaller and take up less room usually when I combine feverfew and catnip I usually do equal amounts but I want a higher ratio of the fever filled so I'm gonna do a two parts feverfew one part of the catnip now catnip is how it works best for pain is it it has a more sedative property to it and that's gonna be the same for your valerian root or even your leaves and flowers you can use valerian leaves and flowers just as well as the root the root is going to be far stronger however because I'm letting my young valerian plant want them to grow there for a couple years before I start harvesting their roots so I've been using for various things teas and stuff the leaves and the flowers which have a little bit better some help and flavor than the root does because they're not quite as strong so we'll do the same thing there we'll do one part valerian valerian is similar to catnip in the in its strong sedative properties and so that's especially when you're looking at things pain that is a result from tension these are going to be very helpful in that way valerian I find to also be very good to help relax muscles oh yes and that was something I wanted to say about the ginger ginger in particular is good for muscle pain as well muscle and joint pain but it is a good overall analgesic where fever few people think of this more for a migraine relief though it's also good for general overall pain and inflammation so now that I've got this in my coffee grinder and I see this all the time but just so people know I have two coffee grinders because I don't want to taint the coffee grinder actually of three because I would you know non electric one but then I have my electric one because it is a little faster so I have one that's dedicated just for coffee and then I have this one that I use for everything else and that's going to include pulverizing my herbs you can also use a blender to do this if you would like so let me go ahead and get put these on the grinder and get these powdered up the best I can and then we'll move on to making the capsule okay there we go it's a nice powdered up it didn't take me long to do that and we'll go ahead and put that in my little bowl here there's a few pieces in there that didn't get entirely powdered up but it's still gonna work just fine for these capsules take my fork just to make sure it's blended well alright these cute little shot glasses here they look kind of like little tiny mason jars but they actually come with their own lids yeah this would be another option for storing your capsules if you want to keep them separate and then you can mark on the lid if you're not wanting to make as much like this is obviously gonna hold more than this little thing here okay so we're getting the capsule and let's get these uh let's get a couple of these made up here so again I feel half in half and then just push them together that way I know I'm getting as much as I can into the capsule whereas I I just think with the other thing that holds the capsules it might be easier if you have a hard time with your fine motor skills though you might want to consider getting the capsule holder but anyway this way the thing I like about this is I think it's a little bit less mess and I mean I can really pack a lot into the capsule by doing it this way okay I don't need to do all of the capsules right now on camera I'll be filling a bunch more later today but I wanted to finish this video out so again research all of the herbs for yourself and find out what you think is going to be best for you and your family or whatever it is you're thinking of administering this to if you haven't started your own medicinal herb garden I strongly urge you to do that especially if you're you're looking at a ways to just one preserve your health better by going more natural to saving money on your medical expenses especially on pharmaceuticals and also if you're looking at something in a maybe a more grid down situation when it's possible that pharmaceuticals will not be available to you knowing having a good medicinal herb garden I think is really important I actually think that should be the first thing when people look in the garden they start putting in because herbs are one of the easiest things to grow especially when you're talking about your perennials like your feverfew and your catnip these are perennials are going to keep coming back echinacea and valerian these all will keep coming back and so I and they're pretty easy once you have them established they're going to be there or they're gonna you know even if they the plant itself like feverfew sometimes only is good for a few years but by then it's made a whole bunch more plants because itself seeds very easily and it'll end up all over your garden but I would rather have that then not have it at all in catnip I found to be very Hardy it is in the mint family and so is it doesn't spread as badly as peppermint and certain other mints but it does get bigger every year but I find it's one of the easiest ones to manage and I highly recommend that so I do have videos out specifically on just the catnip on just on catnip and its benefits one just on feverfew and its benefits one just on valerian and its benefits as well as a whole bunch of other herb profiles that I've done and I still have a lot more I will be doing this a summer so I will link to my herbal playlist down below if you'd like to check those out before I close it up I almost forgot to say dosage dumb when it comes to the extract even though this is about the capsules I take up to two ounces at a time when it's an extract when and that's up to usually only about an ounce but if it's a tincture I'm gonna do maybe up to a teaspoon I don't really make tinctures that much anymore because I like using my own homemade wine because it's organic and it's a lot cheaper but if you do prefer to make your medicines out of as a teacher using vodka or rum or some other 80-proof and above alcohol then you know you just need a little bit but when it comes to the capsules like for me when I did the tumeric capsules I found just one was enough and again this is a believe the double zero I will have this linked below the capsule size that I use so you'll know for sure when you go to check it out but I find that's enough however what you can do is take one of you know of either one of these and then wait about 20 minutes to half an hour and then try another one after that again just like anything just because it's natural and organic and all that also doesn't mean that you should take too much or there's a lot of these things that people should not take become dependent on taking on a regular basis like I mean like every day these are things you should take only as you really need it just like I said about the headaches a lot of times I just I just live with them I mean I don't bother with it unless I can't function properly that's it which is is kind of rare that I have headaches that do that to me usually when I get a headache it's mild enough I can just live with it because I don't want to be dependent on something to get rid of pain for me and I think sometimes it just kind of makes us a little tougher you know if we just kind of get used to dealing with it so that's just this is my personal opinion so again do your research on all that I'm just telling you again what works for me what works for us I just do your research you want to make sure you that what you're taking is going to work for you whether or not you're pregnant whether or not you're on medication whether or not you have some kind of allergies whether or not you're giving this to a child and and then also knowing you know how long can could you take these things for I can't tell you all the execs on all that there's just way too many variables that's why you have to do your own research individually depending on your needs and how much you might think you need to take so for me I don't worry about taking too much of like the fever of you or anything like that because it's just rare that I that either one of us really use that at least it's there when I need it all right so don't forget to check out the links down below for both you know for the books for the capsules for any herbs that I I can think to link down below and also check out my herbal playlist if you're interested in learning more about each individual herbs that I have videos out on and I think that's it so if you have any questions put them in the comments down below and I'll do my best to answer them remember I am NOT a doctor I'm not a licensed naturopathic herbalist I just this is all just me and this is how I take care of us and it works for us all right well if you enjoyed this video and you learn something new thanks for watching take care and God bless you
