HBO's The Last of Us 1x8 Reaction!! "When We Are in Need"

ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the Raggedy pack episode 8 of The Last of Us the penultimate finale penultimates to the finale the penultimate okay it's in the finale episode eight or should we say the David episode uh last week we had what was it left behind left behind DLC yeah episode um which gave us Ellie's origin story which for those of us who are cultured enough to have played the game we knew it even though I have not played the Left Behind DLC I still know how it went because I'm awesome uh what'd you guys think of that episode it was a really good episode it was a nice episode an emotional roller coaster and I think it was cool how they like showed the clicker or I don't even know if that I think that was a click I don't think I don't think it was a clicker it was normal yeah it was a normie Normie zambro um they showed him early and then like ignored his existence for another 20 minutes yeah so it was just like participation it was just killing us like yeah when's he gonna show up I'm pretty sure the thumbnail is from me cowering in fear of the suspense not even of the actual um you know incident it was just I was scared because life so uh yeah I think he summed it up pretty well emotional roller coaster uh there were a lot of Easter eggs but now we are back on track oh my God my eyes are itching uh with the main story where we left Joel in a pit of misery hmm in a house that conveniently had stitching in the upstairs drawer I think less stitching but like the needle and thread which is a little sewing same thing allegedly um what uh what do you guys think is going on like is is I guess I should ask igli what do you think is going to go down in this episode well they really left us they left us off with Ellie kind of just saving Joel so I mean uh in terms of what's going to happen next I don't know I'm assuming some moderate amount of time has passed Jones feel is feeling good and they're going to hit the road again and then uh probably run into some other trouble most likely what that is I don't know maybe they meet up with the fireflies or another faction that impedes them I don't know I real like there's nothing really to go off I don't think all we know is that's your location The Heading hat is where the fireflies supposedly fled to interesting well we have mentioned the location that the Firefly has fled to I just don't think you were paying attention uh yeah yeah that's an interesting take to hear from you what else are you expecting I don't know I'm just I'm just excited to hear it from somebody that hasn't played the game what we think is about to happen because it's uh this this is the episode that I just know it's going to be my favorite episode um and I've said that since uh since we had the Ellie and Joel fight episode before they left Jackson that that was gonna be my second episode favorite episode this episode is the one it's agreed if you will uh it's the Kobe Bryant of The Last of Us episodes okay for those sporties out there um kojo yes do you remember where we go from here Salt Lake City Utah okay well you know what that's not what I was referring to but hey that is correct um episode I I don't remember it I don't remember it that's what I was going for um will remember as soon as he yes sees yeah yeah the place or um the setting I guess there is some good news uh Troy Baker you can be on the lookout for this Troy Baker the original Joel so the game Joel is in this episode oh wow wow wow that's cool I don't remember his actual character but I think it's going to be kind of like a Tommy thing where he exists in the last episode forever except not as a guy he played okay [Music] um but yeah I think that's really it I'm freaking raring to go this episode is gonna to scavenge what they could and only three of them came back and the one that didn't was a father you know daughter just like you turns out he was murdered by this crazy man and get this that crazy assumed I assume they're just like a random event so you're just gonna let it get away can't be that easy they're gonna let her take herself back to Joel they're definitely following yeah but holy [ __ ] you that part of your life it's ending and what I'm offering you is a beginning I'm really trying to figure out what that guy's goal is I'm not sure because I would assume if that if they are cannibals that he would just turn her into meat that like yeah it's like they just maybe he sees that she's super dangerous and once there's a hunter Maybe what's Joe about to do I don't know some heinous crimes oh he's gonna jump out from the bushes oh this isn't oh let's go right we're about to play a game I think this game involves someone dying leave him alone I don't know any girl oh Jesus fire oh yeah it is now this right here is bringing back memories yeah I do I remember when they first were eaten in this place like just the setting No Way Out Ellie the doors are locked and I have the keys this bus through a window I was about to say the doors made glass man got angry Joel now Joe is Out For Blood oh yeah you don't know I am this guy's [ __ ] man you know what I could have given you what is that the cleaver yeah God I like the most major [ __ ] weirdo vibes oh this is terrible oh this is so bad there we go oh where'd she get him oh okay oh all right dumb question deserved oh holy crap I don't think they can show I want to see you left of them oh shoot man weirdo let him cook in there like you said got what he deserved 100 and he's he deserves more [Music] wow it's okay baby girl baby girl uh-huh that's big [Music] and my part made me actually tear up same very emotional [Music] oh man oh what a masterpiece of an episode that was really good amazing [ __ ] acting Jesus yeah big time this episode this episode so I wanna I wanna take a moment and say that like throughout the series Ellie like I I like Delhi um but like it if it really set Ellie up that like she's not just like like a little sidekick she she can hold her own amazing [ __ ] episode for Ellie I loved it I was actually about to ask you how you feel about Ellie now that we've had two episodes of just straight no building of major respect really I love I love the character um it it really it really helped build her up um to the point where like I actually I really [ __ ] like her now um this whole episode was just a banger God damn oh man that [ __ ] was so good this is a moment where um going into this episode with expectations hurts the viewing experience for me um I don't think it was bad I think the way the game did it was way better okay like way better I mean okay I don't want to go into detail about the game for anyone who hasn't played it but from what I remember of the game and bear in mind I did play it 10 years ago or close to that like it followed it pretty well at least the main points I don't know if there was something major that was changed that I can't remember I wouldn't say anything major um I I will just say that there it's just I think I get why they changed it for the reason that igli just said like he likes Ellie a lot more yeah um and again it's it's not a major change but to me that scene is the most emotional scene in the entire Saga in both games because of the way it was portrayed in the game so I'm not saying I didn't like it I'm saying I was kind of really expecting it to go a certain way and when it didn't I was disappointed on top of that in the game there's kind of an explanation on where the rest of the group is and I think that's a glaring like WTF for this episode I can't remember where are they well I'm I mean Joel doesn't just Meander through town for funsies okay he's not just going on a sightseeing trip at Salt City Salt whatever Salt Lake Court I don't know what it was called Salt Lake City Resort no whatever the name of the resort was called it was like Silver City Silver Lake Silver Lake yeah um so I think that was weird they I mean they could have at least come up with something else I think I'm getting the picture we're just saying so you're saying the way that it they established Ellie this episode was good however a lot of the plot elements besides that were um basically suffer from it there there is literally one thing yes but there is literally one thing in that last scene that is directly different from the game and that one thing makes me very upset okay or should I say very disappointed okay so other than that I yeah I don't disagree that's a great episode that's the one thing I think of all the changes they've made they should not have made okay so that without spoiling the game that's as far as I can go into I think I remember I would what you're talking about the people that have played the game recently should I say definitely know what I'm talking about I would explain it give it give a big spoiler warning okay give those people time to jump if they're trying to show yeah oh yeah because I don't remember I don't remember I'm not gonna play the game again all right big spoiler warning bigly close your ears um for I assume his ears are closed uh three two one spoilers it's Joel comes in and stops Ellie from destroying David's face more it's like as she's cleaving his face that's when he grabs her and stops her and he's like Ellie Ellie it's okay it's okay it's me and that's where they have that moment it's during that that it's like it's like this bone chilling spine tingling moment that like Joel isn't embracing like they have that moment I I'd agree with you but it's just like Ellie's just walking out into the snow like yeah yeah he just comes up behind her I I agree I'd agree that's a much better way to do it like oh my God that's my favorite part of the game and they just 100 change it and I like I guess it could have been worse but to me that's the defining moment of the game where you have Joel except Ellie and Ellie except Joel it's right there yeah that's a much better way to do it in my opinion is like or yeah I agree with you fully on that they shouldn't have changed that to be fair at least it still happened yes yes to go outside I'm not sure if it was because the place was burning down and to them it made more sense for her to you know finish cleaving his face and then walk out the door and Jill to show up behind or they just like the setting of the snow because it looks pretty I have no idea but it could be a lot worse a lot worse yeah they they kind of just not they could have did it completely different right and the people that have not played the game will not notice a difference of course but this is just me going on a tangent because the way it was done in the game was so much better and this is the only time in this entire show that I have said that and that's great that is fantastic I just wish it was a different part that I was saying it about and not my favorite part of your favorite part yeah yes who had forgot that detail yeah this hit for me yeah yeah no no she reminded me yeah it definitely hits harder when you're sure behind and she's still in right the process of destroying David's face yeah it's just like again the people that have not watched it or have not played it or like you guys didn't remember it completely fine and that's a testament to just how good this show is yeah right it was done pretty much exact besides that it was almost exact and I uh all right I'm gonna get ugly back again [Music] he's about to be okay he is on deafened maybe you just turned his chat volume down yep yep there you go all right so I haven't done with his rant okay I don't in the meantime I had a little realization a little a little spark um okay uh I realize now uh [Music] the connotation of what David meant when he said uh we have to wait till uh spring to bury him oh oh good catch good catch there's no body left they ate it yeah yeah oh that means that the the daughter really did just eat her dad yeah um but I don't know I'm taking in some ideas of what Blake said I don't know what happens to the rest of town in the game but at least from the perspective what was shown of to us um considering their food supply which had like the horse and will look to be throughout their bodies uh hung up uh that I feel like those people are gonna they're gonna start to death or self-cannibalize themselves um so his issue that he's having issue with is not about the actual town okay it's is it what David himself no I could give you a vague no no kind of he's gonna play the game and he's gonna say okay I'm gonna play the game don't tell me [ __ ] um grandpa in terms of something else I wanted to bring up uh I feel like David as an antagonist um yeah he was vile he uh we I hate that man I'm glad he died uh and was brutalized by Ellie for like a [ __ ] solid minute almost that [ __ ] was nice um but I feel like he was talking a lot of stuff um but what the stuff he was trying to cook um did it really go anywhere he would I feel like he was a little bit jumbled besides the fact that he was uh a manipulator and a cannibal and like let a little cannibal cult going on uh he had some wild ideas that I guess were like mentioned but like didn't really go anywhere like the idea of cordyceps being love in I think I saw a manipulation talk I don't think you've meant a single word he was talking you think you're saying about it if I mean if we take the idea of cordyceps being love in him kind of emulating cordyceps and he mentioned he specifically mentioned cordyceps taking care of their young I don't [ __ ] know take our of its children um I don't [ __ ] know what the [ __ ] that male was cooking uh I guess in a Twisted ass way Alec is taking care of his daughter by feeding her um that's spicy I hope he wasn't so so I mean I kind of wish they would explore that Twisted idea more because the idea of um cordyceps being love I think can be over analyzed from a fellow philosophical Viewpoint um and ironically or coincidentally uh there was a very similar idea brought up in within Finland Saga season one I doubt you guys remember it no one knows what the [ __ ] I'm talking about I'm just kind of ranting to myself right now um that's all right but I just want to mention it we might end up like uh David maybe maybe we'll I'm gonna show you guys a scene after this after this recording session I'm going to show you what I'm cooking I'm gonna draw the parallels and we're gonna talk a little bit okay okay um but yeah amazing [ __ ] episode I love this [ __ ] yeah it's really awesome my bad my bad go ahead you got something I'll let you keep cooking conversation uh like this episode so far with the plot um there was like there are there are times I was perhaps surprised like minorly but this episode was like the big oh [ __ ] realization when they brought when it was a call back to the four random dudes who I I refer to as hobos um you know at the University building that like that realization um and that like that that set up a a big sense of like uh dread or like uh what I don't know what the motion is but like him David [ __ ] not dread like okay dread From perspective that he brings that [ __ ] up to Ellie saying uh we sent four of our people to town and they one of them were was killed by a man in a traveling with a girl and like her kind of forcing her off her guard and trying to escape that situation but that [ __ ] surprised me I was that was a genuine sense of shock in uh I can't believe the show did that I just think that was pretty [ __ ] cool yeah connected it to previous episodes yeah um true oh God I'm glad you liked this episode I'm glad you like Ellie more um I mean I love the [ __ ] actor I love the character the actor you sold on the actor they did a [ __ ] amazing job but made amazing yeah I had doubts before the first episode aired I had doubts uh with the uh with the actor obviously I didn't have doubts with Pedro uh but I just hadn't seen what is the name Bella Bella Ramsay and a bunch of other stuff and she is knocking it out of the park she has already knocked it out of the park but this episode was something special yeah amazing you were gonna say something Corey yeah I was gonna say it's crazy how David is preaching you know teaching from the Bible yet he contradicts everything from the Bible like he's a murderer a liar uh I'm pretty sure yeah he's a pedophile at the end what he was about to do before Ellie grabbed that Cleaver thank God she got it um he what else oh he's a thief he was good he stole the deer um what uh what else is there well I mean he would I don't think he actually believes all this stuff he was saying that he needs an equal yeah you're supposed to practice what you preach but he's doing the opposite he's basically the devil yeah honestly yeah actually because even though he said the only reason fight there at the end it's on fire kind of like you're in Hell okay yeah that's true you see these parallels I'm I'm drawing they're they're really big brain I don't know if you can comprehend yeah I see i p I'm picking up what you're throwing down I think kojo wanted to cook something because he so the the entire uh thing he was talking about to uh Ellie in the the cell was basically saying that he created this whole group off the backbone of Christianity it's very easy to make people be your friend and organize a group when you have when you introduce religion into it okay so I actually don't think he he's obviously not practicing and he definitely is not believing it and he's talking about basically the only reason he went into this whole religious thing is to trick these people into following him so he's just eagerly nailed it it's like he is just master manipulator he specifically he specifically said that the people he was leading he called them sheep they needed a sheep father to believe in um but he said you and people like you and I we don't need a father they don't need anything to believe in they can God they can lead themselves um so yeah he he was this the entire religion thing was a manipulative tactic on his part for sure but yeah he's a piece of [ __ ] a few biggest piece of [ __ ] biggest piece of [ __ ] in the show so far yeah yeah yeah I'd say so I'd say so it's probably the biggest piece of [ __ ] in the whole show yeah I mean in terms of Random Encounters and people we've met along the journey um a lot of them were nice people for the most part uh except I mean I mean the only one that comes close would come close would be um what's your name yeah but Kathleen she wasn't evil she was just misguided and stupid and angry she was dumb as [ __ ] I gotta say she was dumb as [ __ ] David is pretty smart honestly David is vile David he is evil 100 evil yeah and I think you're you're uh Lucifer comparison at the end there is perfect honestly for him Corey thank you use the Imposter you know who he kind of reminds me of kocha um hold up hold up exactly what it is I'm not gonna go into detail oh okay okay okay moving on another thing I wanted to comment on was Joel in that whole scene where he's like holding the knife we're not sure how it's gonna play out and the man gets up and immediately bodies three people and starts questioning them on where they're located and we don't yeah we don't see Joel a lot after that you know like the scene kind of goes back to him a couple times but um which you gotta assume is like in the game the pacing is different so they squeezed that whole part of the game into a 50 minute episode mm-hmm which I think is impressive and that's what I'm kind of talking about what you know where's the rest of the town it's been addressed in the game I mean I'm not I'm not bitching about that change because I get why they've done a lot of that throughout the entire series you know avoiding the long points where you die in combat over and over yeah um but that just seems a little silly to just have that not explained at all like they're just gonna walk out of there unscathed like are we just supposed to I would agree with that implied like it might be interesting there was some explanation some explanation you know what's crazy is they they probably filmed it too and and left it out because for some maybe it had pacing issues I don't know do not confirm but I'm just assuming I'm I'm just assuming Joel Just butchers the whole town no do not confirm do not respond don't yeah don't even do it he doesn't do that I mean that's an assumption so um moving on um I'm I'm very disappointed and I don't want that to detract from anything else but disappointed they tweaked your favorite part of the episode of the whole series actually this is this this was your whole like this episode contained your favorite part of the whole series now I feel like a dweeb because I'm sitting here like oh this is my favorite episode of the series I've known it since they announced it and we saw the timeline and everything it's not it it is a very like big um it's a bit it's a big shift from how you were you don't even know bro you don't even know I don't know it's just like oh man it's a small thing they changed and you're right it would have made the episode so much better but this one was is still a fantastic episode I'm just like I I can't sit here and be happy I understand I'm glad you guys are I'll get over it by next week I'm currently not happy that's that's fair okay yeah um I'm sorry you're disappointed you might get cooked in the comments I don't care I don't think you would it's a reason to comment three years ago under this scene on YouTube detailing why it's my favorite scene and how it's so important for Joel's character development okay and they change it I'm really wondering what I'm staring at it I'm putting it in The Last of Us thread okay dude I I'm really wondering what it
