what is up you sexy youtube mother lovers we are back with another episode of gun builder reacts now in the past we've done videos reacting to uh lord of war to both red dawns the good one and the uh well the other one but today's episode is going to be kind of special you see here recently we reached 1 million subscribers and uh we wanted to do a special video thanking you guys for that could not think of one for the life of me and then i thought you know what there's a movie that you guys have been requesting me to react to for a long time pretty much ever since it came out on amazon prime and it is called kalashnikov or ak-47 kalashnikov i figured what a better way to celebrate reaching 1 million subscribers then to pay tribute to the guy who made all of this possible see if it wasn't for my passion for aks i probably wouldn't be here and you guys definitely wouldn't be here so you know what let's delve into this movie that's basically just the story of mikael kalashnikov and the tale of his invention of the ak-47 being transparent i have actually watched this movie already i did enjoy it and i there's still a couple things i did want to talk about if you haven't seen the movie already you're welcome to keep watching the video but if you wanted to watch it it is for sale on amazon prime the english dub is actually not that distracting so without further ado let's get into the movie i recognize that logo you already know it's going to be a good movie yes the kalashnikov concern did actually have a hand in the making of this movie which is pretty cool and apparently all of russia did as well it is super neat because they had the support of the kalashnikov concern i believe that that opened up doors to actually using real props from the kalashnikov museum just things you know they had stowed away in the attic like real type ones prototypes you know really cool [ __ ] so uh it's really cool the kalashnikov concern was was a part of the development of this [Music] movie another few yards mikhail kalashnikov the actual antique back when that actually met anti-fascist [Music] so after being wound in battle uh this is where mikhail kalashnikov jumps off the train and uh heads to a small town to get to work on building his new prototype machine gun what's your job good morning mr andreas who the hell are you senior sergeant kalashnikov only for recovery wow so yeah so this is the guy that they chose for mikhail kalashnikov so uh definitely whatever the russian equivalent of hollywood is uh you know they found a strapping young lad for the role i don't know why but i'm comparing this to my mind to the solo movie where you just get this very much more clean-cut han solo young han solo versus uh you know the harrison ford that we all knew we also don't have a lot of photos of young mikael kalashnikov but you know i mean all right i can it'll work for a movie mr andreas i was doing a lot of thinking while i was in the hospital it's a pretty tough situation on the front right now the enemy is well armed whereas we to say politely have an undisputed disadvantage to win the war the red army needs a decent submachine gun a submachine gun huh we'll design it here here in the depot shall we give it a try huh you know what comrade inventor get the hell out of here i guess this is part of what's so i guess inspiring about the story and uh i mean to a degree the movie is just it shows you that this was not like a famous weapon designer or whatever with a big factory or anything like it very very humble beginnings from a early 20s russian soldier who just had grand ideas for building a machine gun it's just super super neat and you know i don't think anybody involved knew that that was going to be a machine gun that changed the world kalashnikov rumor has it you're designing a submachine gun is that right yeah and you're looking for specialists that right as well yeah but andrei said that i had no chance andreas was talking about working hours we'll help you in our spare time jenya on the milling machine dmitri kuzmish lathe operator real good so comrade kalashnikov we have great respect for what you're doing and we'd be happy to help you any way we can there you have it don't you have a drawing that's a little more specific yeah i know as a draftsman i'm not too good sorry sorry about that so we'll have to eyeball it measure until we get it right this part is super cool but i actually don't know how much of this is true but i wouldn't be surprised it's kind of cool that whole you know for the good of the motherland thing that they had going on it's just that that [Music] you know hey we're at wartime we got all hands on deck this kid's building the submachine gun that's going to change the war i didn't but it's kind of cool well i guess it didn't change that war but it pretty much changed every war after that see this is the cool part about having kalashnikov concern actually involved god knows if that's a real prototype or a prop based on like based on a real prototype if you've never gotten a chance check out some of the stuff that kalashnikov concern has in their museum kalashnikov media actually does videos uh about some of the stuff in the museum and it's [ __ ] incredible a lot of weird bizarre prototypes really early model ak's it's some cool [ __ ] if this is the if this is what you like now this one in particular probably isn't the original but there's some stuff later on this movie that i'm like i wouldn't be surprised yeah we're getting to the good parts of the movie but before we go any further a quick word from our sponsors so we can pay the bills gold is defensive so acre built a system to try to make gold more affordable i'm willing to help them by giving up for everything you give acres going to give as well and if we all give a [ __ ] together we can make a huge difference in making gold more affordable across the globe it's like me and the boys trying to decide who's gonna fire the new 50 prototype for the first time satisfying your barrel killing skills are remarkable not actually sure what that first submachine gun was chambered in i would imagine at the time it would have to be 762 by 25. it's uh the caliber that russians were using uh at the time for all their submachine guns i don't know if russia only had one rifling machine so that they they needed it to make you know their their tow crabs their sidearm their submachine guns their you know their rifles the mohsen nagant the st svt40s near comrade we have perfected caliber 30 caliber pistol 30 caliber rifle 30 caliber sub machine gun 30 caliber what would the ak-47 end up being chambered in 30 caliber all right so now he's going to show off the new submachine gun him and the boys created uh to the guy who helped him get it commissioned however he's not there why he's at the front that's right and who has replaced him why do you want this information it's a question of national importance here what the hell that's my freaking arm if you don't believe me call the manager of the depot his name is krotov he can explain everything hey that part i believe is also true as well you see oddly enough soviet russia did not have a second amendment or its equivalent so uh you just showed up to a military depot with an unregistered submachine gun and by the way when i'm making reference to things uh saying i think that's the way it happened or you know i'm recalling from reading the book ak-47 the weapon that changed the world or the gun that changed the world it was a basically an autobiography that was written by mikhail kolashnikov through a writer that was friends with his daughter i think they went and visited him and his older age and he just kind of recounted basically the story of his life you haven't read it it's an amazing read if you're allergic to reading let's just watch this movie it's pretty close but of course he gets out and you know things continue to unfold or else we wouldn't have a movie and more importantly we wouldn't have an ak-47 so let's skip ahead so now his weapon is going to be considered uh for a contest basically design contest it's basically like winning a contract uh for weapon design um and he's got a couple other competitors and i think we're about to meet one what's this yeah let me take a look uh the barrel pointing in my face yes it's yours it's mine too heavy it's four ounces lighter than the pp shot it's not saying much i'm 20. people shall wait at least a ton mine is a pound later without the magazine of course without it so you're an inventor as well more or less today alexa kalashnikov yep and we've met the famed alexei uh sudayev or sadav once again i i don't speak russian if you're unfamiliar with him he was the russian weapon designer who designed and built the pbs 43 which ended up winning that contest if you couldn't already piece that together really cool of the movie to include him though i thought that was neat they didn't have to they include a lot of russian weapon designers and such that you know just little little details that i i appreciate this workshop belongs to spaghetti being the developer of the ppsh-41 my country needs better weapons so all the engineers you ever heard of are here corbin is here rukovichnikov is over there and that building over there is vasily dekterov's workshop protector of himself the one and only so denture of uh dektrov duttariov his name's spelt really funky in english famous russian weapon designer he designed all sorts of stuff uh for the dpm the dp28 uh the rpd the dishka the guy was all over the map he was very very well known uh for uh as far as in the circles of russian weapon designers so as a young kid straight off the front lines uh who's never designed and produced a weapon system before that's pretty intimidating to have to compete with this is another cool part of the movie that i'm glad they included as we agreed hello so this is the girl that basically was assigned to kalashnikov to help him with drafting because he needed someone who was a professional i guess drafter for to get everything in proper scale and everything for the machinists and such um this fine lady ended up being his wife and that is a true story i believe the saying is find you a girl that can do both so of course kalashnikov ends up losing that particular contest for the development of the submachine gun instead of course the pps43 is what ends up being mass-produced however of course there's more to the story so uh we skip forward a little bit of time the world war ii has now ended and now we are in a period of rearmament for the russian military and we get to see our old friend sudiev again your pps43 is a worker genius have you read the rearmament decree yeah next month they're going to announce a new contest to develop a new kind of rifle in other words my as you called it genius pbs will soon only be found in museums and in my collection because they're awesome ever think of it it's probably really weird for them to know if you could go back in time and tell them that hey you know don't feel bad in 75 years your work will still be known long after you die and uh some random americans will will own your weapons and think they're the coolest [ __ ] since sliced bread considering this is at the verge of the cold war probably mixed feelings about that but i don't know it's just kind of neat all right this movie's been really accurate so far and you know they there's a lot of really fine details that they got right it's also a couple things i got wrong and uh certain things you can just kind of glance over this one i really can't so from the looks of this drawing we are looking at an under folder type three milled ak the rifle mikhail kalashnikov would have been working on obviously would be the type one which there's a lot of great type one porn coming later i'm not gonna ruin that what i will say is this drawing clearly a type 3. those did not come about until the mid-50s so really odd that they chose a really close-up lingering shot of this drawing of a anachronistic version of the ak but you know what for the average viewer you would never notice it i just couldn't let it slide so let's just keep watching look at those beauties interesting the prototypes are already numbered on the dust cover huh look at that though they may have [ __ ] up with the type 3 drawing but that is for sure a type 1. you tell by the trunnion the dad give away the front trunnion there and also the rivets instead of spot welds on the uh rails this is so cool so they couldn't get a spot on the actual shooting range because there were more important people in the way but you don't need a shooting range if you have a barrel look at that beautiful type one porn that's super cool though i've always been a sucker for like the startup kind of stories like underdog ends up you know winning big i always thought that stuff's kind of cool and obviously this is a little different but it really has that same feel you know super inspiring stuff if you're into gun design like i am that is awful cgi sand though so now the moment of truth [Music] beautiful shot i just really hope i i'm upset that they used a real tight one [Music] let's continue with the test it hurts my heart a little bit that they did this to an og type one those are impossible to get here which while we're on the subject if anybody out there has a connection to a type 1ak or a type 1 ak parts kit that they would like to part with please let me know let's talk congratulations on successfully completing testing of a new firearm we are proud of the long list of our weapons designers the names of such greats like general lieutenant dictator and designers like tokorov simonov and tsudaya will forever be remembered in the history of firearms today i would like to introduce you to a young and very talented designer recipient of the stalin prize senior sergeant alexander kalashnikov his ak-47 assault rifle is the future of weaponry it's a really nice scene you know although those are all type threes ah wait hold on no that's not even true hold up hold up they have one type one one type one right there i i'm pretty sure yep [Applause] [Music] it's the one gun they're not doing close-ups on i think it's probably because you have all these guys close to each other and they don't want to show the one gun that doesn't fit in but [ __ ] they're all carrying guns that would not come out until like seven eight years later so that's a bit of an oopsie although you know i get it 200 original type ones probably not the easiest thing to just pull out of your ass so you know what these are good enough stand-ins for the average viewer anyways guys there is so much more in this movie that i just kind of glanced over really awesome if you have the time and you know an amazon prime account i definitely recommend watching it especially if you are into firearm design this is a really cool movie or if you just like firearm history really really awesome and uh all things considered for the budget that they were on pretty well done wait a [ __ ] minute that dude's gas tube levers past the detent take it back what is this horse [ __ ] i'd probably give this movie a solid as a movie six or seven out of ten for me i give it about an eight and a half out of ten a lot of just sentimental attachment to it obviously but ah give it a watch see what you think as soon as you're done watching it come back leave a comment tell me what you thought about it anyways guys i hope you liked this video uh odds are once this comes out i will be streaming live on twitch at twitch.tv the real brandon herrera come and hang out got a lot of cool stuff in the pipes for you guys but that's all we've got for today so be sure to be a part of the akg notification squad and as always i will see you sexy youtube mother lovers in the next video thanks guys i don't know why but in my mind it's i'm comparing it to uh the solo movie uh with uh what was this [ __ ] name alden aaron aaron reich he's got rike in his name that's all right anyways guys there is so much more in this movie that i just kind of glanced over uh but it is a phenomenal film if you've got the time and a netflix prime account definitely recommend it and netflix prime what the [ __ ] did i just say
