hello and welcome to gerock farms man did it get a lot colder overnight we're in the single digits now and still dropping fired up the wood stove it was down to coals this morning i didn't feel it plump full i want to kind of catch before we do that so it's day number six of the week-long series that i'm putting together and on today's agenda just the daily stuff to start off the morning feed all the cattle and milk later today i gotta grind some corn so stay tuned for that [Music] all right milking is finished it went really good there was plenty of help because it's the weekend so my brothers are home all day so we've been getting a lot done in a short amount of time what you just seen was me starting the wash that stuff i was putting in the sink with the milkers that's a powdered soap and just helps clean the entire milking system and the way we run our wash is we don't have a special wash setting or anything like some operations do we just keep the pump running as if we were milking but instead of throwing the end of the milk line into the tank it's going back into that sink where all the milkers were and it just kind of recirculates the water and the soap it works out really good and when it comes to our our wash cycle we let that run for at least 10 minutes or more i'll come back turn on some of the milkers shut off some and keep doing that and then eventually shut it off i'm gonna go clean up the bedding pack out back behind the barn and then we'll go grind some corn so so so so [Music] [Music] river what do you think of the cold huh you like it river come here what do you think river apparently river doesn't want to talk to me today but we got that done we got that loaded up which is nice he's gonna go spread that off now barnyard's all cleaned up and ready for the cows now let's uh let's grind some corn here's the mixer slash grinder we're going to be using today it's a gale 100 it works really well for us we made a video on it a while back i'll throw that up in case you guys are more interested about this particular implement it's really nice and handy to have it sure beats taking your feed to a co-op or something like that it feels good to be self-sufficient and not have to rely on somebody else to grind your feed or deliver it or anything like that when we get lawn feed we just go uh grind a batch and then we have it we're gonna be hooking it up to the 7405 today let's get to work so [Music] [Music] so a few of you might be wondering what we put in our ground up corn mixture so obviously the main ingredient is corn then we also put in 25 gallon pails of oats talk about exact i'm not sure how much that weighs or anything like that but that's how much oats we put in there then we also put some different minerals vitamins in there one of which is a big gain three in one mineral bag and then we also put in a different vitamin pack along with some salt so that's our mixture let's get to grinding so [Applause] you guys want to yell when i'm lined up just right so you gotta get over even more nice the mixer is full let's head up to the barn and unload it [Applause] so [Applause] so so [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] so so we can check that off the to-do list it's nice to have that done that should last for a while now we should be good on corn in the dairy barn for a while i'm gonna go have lunch with my brothers and then we'll come back out here and let the cows in i think i'm gonna try uh throwing you guys on uh on a head mount we'll see how that works out and show you guys the the circus that letting cows in can be three [Applause] all right we're gonna bring in the cows we're gonna see how this uh headcam footage looks come on girl come on [Music] number two number nine another brown [Music] right there [Music] come on come on girl come on come back out [Music] oh come on there you go shoot in the right spot [Music] 30 20 okay we got all of them all the cows are in the barn and are getting tied up right now that went really well that's one of those jobs where sometimes it's nicer with only just one guy because then the cows stay a bit calmer but my brothers and i all coordinated pretty well and the cattle stayed calm and worked out really nice but i'm gonna just check these two out buildings really quick make sure everybody's okay push up the feed things like that but i'm gonna end off the video here mid afternoon all we got left to do is evening chores it's going to be a more relaxing afternoon which will be nice i got a lot done here with my brothers this morning everybody worked very well together very thankful for that big thank you to them they're really stepping up and it's enjoyable working with my brothers but we wanted to thank you all for watching and if you enjoyed make sure to like and subscribe and if you know anyone that might be interested in the videos share it with them we'd really appreciate it but this is the end to day number six of the week-long series we'll see in the next video so you
