[Music] everyone bill here and David David is back very special tonight for tonight they will walk Titan Lords making their debut on the channel against high L fleets 4000 points David you've been on the channel before once or twice I think yeah you're in my D&D campaign now right right making a proper nerd of you I am prophet izing all over this county what is it you like about this stuff so far um I think I like the opportunity for creativity I mean you know every night is different you can different tactics different opportunities and it's just fun every time is different doesn't get old well we just had a very nice meal you can probably hear the kids screaming the background going to bed but we are now ready to play some grim dark future so real quick we're doing version 2.4 of the rules here's the house rules for moments of destiny so throughout this game each of us has four moments of destiny to spend it allows you to reroll any one dice the caveat you can only do it once per activation makes sense okay we are doing victory conditions we're doing objective karts like we've used a few episodes back a few battle reports back instead of the stock mission so I'll talk through that at the top of the first round the Titan Lords player only has three models three units so it's going to be kind of boring for that person I'm going to be playing the Titan Lords but we've decided that that person will be able to go whenever they want in the round as opposed to activating back and forth otherwise they're going for the first three back and forth stand and it's you for the rest of the turn so just to give a little bit of flexibility even the playing field a little bit we are implementing that house rule as well but other than that this grim dark future is written all right you ready I'm ready okay let's go for those of you new to these battle reports we play grim dark future which is a simple fast playing fan-made rule set inspired by Warhammer 40k the rules and army lists are totally free and there's links in the video description below in one corner 4,000 points of high elf fleets we start as always with a solid core of two units of ten defender squads they've each been given a gun platform and those gun platforms have been equipped with laser Lance's unit of 10 banshees in a banshee squad two of which are upgraded with execution swords hoping to get them up close and personal and another ground-based melee unit these with scout the scorpion squad scout giving them some versatility and placement and that brings us to three Wraith walkers and two of these models are being counts as so I apologize for that I just don't have three dreadnoughts right now but they're all identical they have two shard guns each and two laser Lance's each intent is to give them the tools to bring down the big mechs unit of five in a wraith suit squad they've been upgraded with distortion scythes thirty dice of anything is not good news unit of jet bikes speed 12 ultra-fast one of them has been upgraded to a shard cannon surprisingly fragile though they're only one wound apiece they do not have tough three then there's an anti-gravity PC which I apologize is not finished being painted no upgrades to it really the intent is just that it can Shepherd one of those melee units in where and if needed then the anti-graft tank which decidedly is finished being painted this one upgraded with a doom cannon it's got a shard cannon and a pulse laser taste the rainbow and lastly the high seer this is a hero unit he's been upgraded to psychic 3 and been given a jet bike the only hero unit in the entire army and is not being grouped with any other unit so at only three wounds tactics are going to be important for his survival so there it is roughly 4,000 points of high elf fleets and now the Titan Lords and here's our board for the night the high elf fleets have broken a taboo a gentleman's agreement and they've invaded a civilized world this is civilians luckily there was a hidden outpost nearby with some Titans on ready five and they've been launched to go and defend so that's where we're gonna pick up this is a frontline gaming met with terrain that we've made on the channel before and the idea here is that we've got some high-rises and it's gonna look great with those enormous mechs doing battle with the high elf fleets so first thing we got to do is roll off to see who's gonna place the first of six objective markers that's a three for me and a four for you so you will place the first marker markers aren't down we've got one over here in this empty corner one on top of this high-rise one over at the entrance to that void shield generator one on this rubble pile one down here in the middle of the road and one down there in the alley so real quick let's talk about terrain rules these piles of rubble are difficult terrain so anything moving through that cannot move more than six inches regardless of what they're doing vehicle type models anything other than an infantry like a foot soldier type of model cannot go onto the upper floor of a building anything on a building will be treated as being in cover so it'll have minus one to shooting against it and these the scatter ruins stuff is aesthetic so if it's in the way just move it out of the way it doesn't block line-of-sight it doesn't do anything it's just for looks any questions okay we're gonna roll off to see who gets to pick which edge that they're on let's do it I've got a three and a two I will get to pick now somehow in the previous seven battle reports I've always been on this side of the room right on this side of the physical table actually for the first time I'm gonna end up on the other side I'm choosing that side because it's gonna give me a lot more options for movement of these enormous robots okay deployment is done a city fight it will be we didn't mention before but each of us has chosen a leader for our army mine is the preceptor Titan here yours will be the high seer who is on a jet bike correct yeah so the idea is in addition to victory points granted by achieving the objectives on our cards we will get in a victory point if we slay the other guys leader if we have first blood so if you slay the first unit now of course might all have one model in each unit but first unit slayed that guy gets a point and then also at the end of the game at the end of round four or five if you have at least one unit wholly within the other guys deployment zone you'll get a point speaking of which as for the end of the game another house rule forgot to mention earlier four rounds but at the end of that we will roll and on a five up will go to a turn five sound good so as a one-third chance that will have a turn five you ready all right getting a quick look from your side of the world over here you Scout it in those scorpions that's why they're over there and these banshees here they're in the unpainted APC yes yes okay and I do apologize to the viewers for that over there I have my preceptor Titan and then the other two and I think we're ready to generate our objectives all right let's each draw three we're gonna have three mark three objectives at the top of each turn and if you don't you draw so they can do I am going to have to hold marker for so that I've got a hold marker for for two rounds that's hard to do control all objective markers that's going to be impossible for me and control marker three at the beginning and end of the same round alright and you also have hold three that's interesting intimidates so you want me to fail a morale test or three or more to get more victory points unlikely and control marker one so mostly looking at objective markers here to start with kind of bland but that's where we're gonna go so I will activate first since I finished deploying first I think I might leverage that house rule we talked about and defer I'm gonna allow you to activate a unit well wait a sec let me think about this okay I don't know what I was talking about cuz that is what we call a target-rich environment right there so he is going to hop up something less than his six inches and claim that marker and then he's gonna fire over there if he's gonna fire the plasma battle cannon and the missile pod into the defender squad and the volcano cannon will go into one of those big targets do the plasma battle cannon first this is going into the defender squad or that's a hit is blast six alright six is to save one alright five of them die take that and then also going into them was the missile pot that's a one looking at first blood here potentially I'm gonna use a moment of destiny I'm gonna use the first of my four and reroll this trying to hit again a two wasted all right then we have the volcano cannon going into that anti-graft tank another miss and once per activation remember so I can't use a moment destiny okay highly disappointing yeah oh yeah you're up I'm so they're down to five we just have and we need a morale check over there five good to go alright coming over here laser Lance just on the gun platform they hopped up that hits what's the armor-piercing for alright saving on a six does not save deadly six so he's got 24 wounds he would be down to 18 but got regeneration we'll see if the ion shields hold up it's on a five up he'll shake off wounds all right so two taken he is down to 22 wounds left this one here the Crusader type moved up six inches into that difficult terrain okay through the windows down there downrange we can see the defender squad we're gonna shoot it then they will most certainly have cover as they're partially obscured do you agree yes okay fusion cannon hitting on force cuz you're in cover it's no good rapid battle cannon two dice hitting on force oh my goodness I'll use a moment of destiny on that we're gonna re-roll and try and hit again there we go that's a hit this is blast six and armor-piercing three those saves alright six of them dead and then finally we have two machine guns getting on for two hits no armor-piercing two more died all right so we need a morale check over there and most assuredly still don't have first blood all right so let's fail so they are pinned it okay pinned yep doom cannon so which version are you use it the a chi so rending I need to save on a six and it ignores regeneration these other ones are hits okay what's the armor-piercing to okay first up the rend that's not a save and I can't regenerate it so that's gonna be a wound to armor-piercing so saving on force none of them save not hot start tonight regenerating nice one regenerate so two more total of three wounds lost so far what else you got charred can and hitting on threes with rending and it got a rend right saving on the six it doesn't can't regenerate that these are saving on one okay it's saving on threes both safe take another wound he is down to 18 left Oh pulse laser a piercing 3ok saving up five one save one gets through deadly no ok so regen does not regen loses another world no it's so bad not so bad and over here the preceptor can't really don't think we can get to end of line you finally over here the preceptor I don't think you can get into line of sight for anything but just spare a turn slogging through this difficult terrain I'm going to go ahead and move six inches to get out of there so that next turn we have more options now it's back to me but I'm going to exercise that little house rule we gave and defer back to you popped up to here and gonna unload into the castellon laser Lance first char guns are out of range oh one moment of destiny all right that's a hit alright armor-piercing okay same amount of six does not save that laser Lance deadly six so we're gonna try and regen these ion shields up four of them get through okay down to 13 what else you got that's it no my friend you have to laser Lance's I gave you the tools for tonight go ahead alright I'm gonna defer again and you may go again okay - laser Lance's okay - laser Lance is hitting on threes bathing on sixes nope so that's give me 12 total eight more damage get through got five health left yeah not good anymore I'll check where I was good okay you keep going I want I would like to do mine second-to-last so that I still finish activating first this round but you go ahead and do the other five first thinking about sneaking over here with these speed nine scorpions and a charge but he wants to pick off some more health first hoping that he destroys it so they don't have a chance to strike back twin star cannons two hits alright saving on threes wow wow this is an awful awful side of the table I don't like being on this side of the table okay Jim wants a surprise attack let's see if we can regenerate these nope two more wounds off more I'll check out their fearless so that is actually a three so it's a pass now they're swinging in since I got him down to three wounds okay they're moving up I had him on difficult terrain but it doesn't matter because the scorpions have Strider so they'll all get in they'll all get to participate in combat first up to biting swords so these are four dice hitting on force and two of them armor-piercing saving on fives save one gets through regenerate does not so he's down to two wounds what else you got about eight energy sword sixteen dice hitting on fours ap1 so I'm gonna be saving on threes a four of them get through can we regenerate four of them no we cannot okay so he goes kaboom falls down and good riddance cuz I've got abysmal rolling you do get first blood so that's a victory point for you and in post combat victory moving up your three inches to claim marker two just in case it matters those race Walker's went up to the building so to be able to scale that 12 inch height in their next turn I see her moved up to here and they'll try and cast something on the Sasori destroyer okay what's that within 18 inches checking on this wraith Walker here line of sight through he does see that dude on the other side it would clearly have cover though DUP - laser Lance's 3 but force because I've been cover right ok one saving on a six that's a one deadly six regenerating ion shield one of them saves five damage okay he's down to 19 see if I can't get I can hop out and draw a bead over there let's take a look okay that's done he's moved up he cannot see that Wraith Walker but he can see that unit of dudes over there a majority of them are hidden though so their incoming three okay so I'm hitting on fours and said first the pulsed laser is doing right here two hits aren't deadly 3 but doesn't matter and the one little piece that's two more gone and the gun platform goes with them all right yes we talked about that before the game because the rules are unclear on how you handle the gun platform it's not actually a model sure we'll say yeah you can retrieve it allocated to it yeah so then coming into is the missile pod but here's the thing this is only one die so getting on a four then that hits all right so missile pod is blasts six six of them standing up I okay so at least that unit is now you have one more unit to activate for the round there they came up to the point only one of them is within range with his sharp cannon three days sitting on fives because of the cover all right oh man so that's the round one not how I had hoped it would start I'm gonna tribute that to some fluky dice rolling I do I can already I was thinking this one I made the army list these guys should be hitting on twos but there's precedent for it in the demons army list there's qualities of two it's rare but I do think that when the weapon has one die to hit even though it can be devastating but I mean it should be hitting on twos the these guys need to be hitting every turn it's fitting with the lore anyway we'll see how it how it goes out so I'm gonna activate first let's go to the top of two you ready okay before we do that so end of the round did we achieve anything I didn't achieve any of mine did you achieve any of yours did I feel a moral test because you have ah yes yeah okay so do you want to discard any of yours I know I want to discard this one and I'm gonna draw a new one you can discard up to one if you like No so my new one hold on man we keep getting the boring car it's alright another objective marker based one hold one you got for control marker for which I currently have so I'll be able to deny you that at least but these are boring cards so far interesting question hmm did you lose control of one see what you're saying so just an interesting strategy to do there yeah till I come out so you could come up and take shots maybe you back up and then yes I moved off this so I could go get that easy pickins but in and as a result I I'm stuck having to wait another turn to claim this car hold one cuz I have to have it at the beginning and end of the round and I don't have it right now okay that's all right you ready okay for reals this time here I am over on marker 4 and I would really like to hold it so I'm not gonna go out of range I'm gonna turn him to create sort of a shield against those guys so even if they charge in maybe there's a chance that they won't be able to contest the objective assuming of course that they survive what's about to happen okay that's done I didn't want to move him up too far because there's really no use trying to go after them they have speeds of 6 so it's gonna take him a whole another turn to get in range to be able to shoot at him which is good so he's safe for now we're gonna try and wipe them out fusion cannon this is hitting on a three these guys have stealth don't they okay so hitting on a four that's a hit fusion cannon has blast three and deadly six so I need three saves at armor-piercing 406 is a work none right deadly but doesn't matter so three of them are dead then we have the rapid battle cannon two of these hitting on force neither of them what do I do about I'm in a moment of destiny one of these and that'll work that's blast six at armor-piercing three that says six six is none so six more died to machine guns coming in will they get the job done hitting on force Oh 1 what will you do this is marker 2 relevant for your objectives right now yeah not worth it so he is dead alright we'll take that I'm down to one moment of destiny left but it was worth it I've got marker for I had it at the beginning of this round I'm probably gonna have it at the end it came down through this alleyway popped out the other side onto the main thoroughfare and they're gonna unload into the green one who RINs and no arms piercing these are saving on twos and of course one gets through and then these are saving on sixes they don't save and they can't regenerate because they're ready so that's three more wounds gone thank you that's right the other one I could read and I do all right be sharp okay shark cannons hitting on four to hit names of the six six was a rent did not save three didn't save regenerate then regenerate two more wounds gone down to fifteen that upset about that so the preceptor is gonna move his six inches back to reclaim marker one and then we're gonna load unload everything into that first up the pulse laser hitting on threes [Music] once a three get through three blown up squishy bikes good riddance back to you you're gonna finish out the rest of your army for the turn rate zoom squad did jump up they're still just out of range of that marker but they'll be set up to hold it next turn so as a quick question here about the APC unit inside can use any action to disembark but can only move by up to 6 inches so if you've got chargers in there they're not gonna be doing 18 inches which i think is what you were getting at yet ok moving up 12 inches twin stark in and hitting on threes all four of them armor-piercing one one saving on three one gets through and I'm gonna regen it it does alright and the ion shields all strong good is that it for him firing the a Cheever j'en of the doom cannon all right sounds good a p2 saving on force one save to go hundred these have any deadly regen yes regen e5 they don't - words I'll take that shark cam in hitting on threes with rending Wow huh - wrens they don't save they can't regen and then this one defends two more wounds down pulse laser okay moment of Destiny [Music] okay Paul phlaser - hips are facing saving on fives to save and one gets through is there any deadly okay regen okay puts him down to ten which is gonna compel a morale check where I was good alright keep bringing on the storm what else is there this Wraith Walker hopped over to clean that marker and now he's shooting the laser Lance's and him two of them good one gets through okay save it on the six does not deadly six regenerating four get through that Wraith Walker moved at the double up 12 inches so he's done and this one I assume is doing the same [Music] right banshees unloading here's what he is staring down right now converging setting up the next turn this isn't gonna be pretty what was left of those defenders moved over behind this building they're hiding out that just leaves that high seer to do something again okay let's have it two of them of ap1 saving on threes one saves one doesn't regenerate but it does arrive then follow this away okay that's the end of three huh gotta survive this onslaught losing that Titan was not a good thing all right hold for I did achieve that I had at the beginning in the end hold one I'm set up to do that I didn't have it at the beginning and marker three I don't have that I don't like it I'm gonna discard three as for you control marker three you're set up to do that I did not fail in moral tests so you didn't get that and control marker for you don't have that are you gonna discard one and disgust me very good my new ones are giant slayer destroy something with tough 12 or higher and destroy an enemy unit via ranged attack by shooting at it I can do that too huh and would you get control okay that's okay with that we're gonna go to the top of three and I will have the option to go first if I want okay he backed up six inches exactly sees a target that thing has 12 wounds all so I'm gonna shoot at it I'm gonna get two objectives at once here sound good okay first up the fusion cannon one base hitting on a three but that's got stealth hitting on four that's a hit last three AP four they're gonna be deadly six each whoo oh boy that's 18 damage and he is kaboom blown up boom that did the trick that's 12 looms gone and I killed it with shooting that's gonna work so I'm poised I'm gonna have all three of these cards at the end of this turn it's not looking so bleak after all okay over to you this guy's over here just dancing with himself he's gonna fire I assume through here yes all right through cover two laser Lance's Oh - missile using a moment of destiny no one left after that's it saving on a six does not save deadly six on that laser Lance so these are gonna be read Jenny oh no no three of them get through puts him down to seven wounds left fearless so that's the seven so he's good to go over here the preceptor gonna move it just a little bit so it's still within three inches of the center that marker and still claims but now can see that tank down there it's got cover cuz I have a robot in the way but at least we can take a shot at this APC down here pulse laser hitting on threes but hitting on force cuz you're in one safe there desi three so he's down to six wounds and then we have the missile pod and this is hitting on a four that's a hit last six armor-piercing one save saving bring no more get through so he's down to three wounds left right okay let's have more I'll check morale is good rest of the turn is yours go to it he'd stepped over here firing - laser Lance's down reach at him three Sam threes one miss that's safe Oh finally finally something going right a little bit of log jam here this difficult terrain is tough so they can't move their normal 18 there moving the six they're going up the building sounds good so they're up there now they've got that marker at the end of the turn it did clear the way and he moved up to six inches and he's firing - laser Lance's downrange one hit one miss one more moment of Destiny trying to reroll that trying to get two hits that one left us some drama okay saving on sixes how did you not I am going to burn my last moment of Destiny trying to roll a six I'm just gonna do it oh I was dumb alright so that's 12 damage we're gonna try and regenerate it five up six six of them get through that brings him down to one wound left more I'll check I can't reroll it because it's in the same activation so he Wow I can't believe that what a weird game I just got rid of my around that's that's true I fail the more else oh my god okay so the was darn it do I have no recourse oh man that was so dumb to burn that moment of it that was my fault that was it that's not a weird moment that's completely my fault okay he is pinned still you great Smoot squad hopped over here we're gonna the double this Guardian squad just came over here and is gonna shoot at the preceptor it's six doesn't save deadly six retaining one two two wounds get through psychic still back there that'll do d6 Simon to two at ap one saving on threes osage alright so you survived somehow and we're at the bottom of three about to go to the top of four potentially the last round of the game let's go look at what we achieved I did kill something with 12 or higher I did control marker one at the beginning and end of this round and I killed something via shooting which again was the tank so I'll get one two three four victory points for that you haven't held three yet you're set up to do it you won't get that and you don't have marker for because that guy is sitting on it all right you're gonna discard one of these discarding tactical perfection and you drew C's five where is marker five five is in the back so you can get that one you're also looking at potentially getting the being in my deployment zone at the end of the game you'll have one there so right now I'm at six you're at one it's an uphill battle let's play and there also might be a turn five right so that's the whole purpose of rolling on a five up to go to turn five because you can still be in the game it gives us a reason to keep playing this is one of my favorite favorite rules okay will I go first oh and here were my new markers so control marker to its beginning it into the round not gonna be able to do that control marker five not possible destroy a hero model there is no way that you're gonna bring that high sea route to play so I am NOT gonna be able to get any of my objective markers for me it's all about survive that's all I can do is sit here and take it I have a reason for this I'm gonna go first I'm gonna burn his activation unpinning him now it's over to you these guys with the distortion sides so good so the guy in the front can look down and see everything the other three I think have covered a little bit okay first dude hitting on three saving on twos come on okay I was all safe first volley is done eighteen dice hitting on force with Remy Remy will save the Rennes for the end these are saving on twos they all save get that mess out of here now 3r ends this is wait a sec please save on sixes yeah okay never mind this whoa that's a but it ignores regeneration no one wound gets out of all that and it's just enough useful oh man wondering if I can deny you that marker three checking on line of sight for the banshees he can see just some of their heads but I we feel its sporting to say no there's no line of sight there so I'm gonna pick a different target on the plus side my intent was achieved I burned all those I was worried about those dudes six dice apiece I was worried about them they're done shooting they can't charge if he wants to keep that so they're that whole thing is effectively out of the game which leaves just them if he wants to get one of these to my deployment zone he's gonna have to move more than six inches so one of these two is out of the game that leaves just the this guy who has pretty harmless weapons and two laser Lance's right here oh and one other thing I needed him gone so that he wouldn't have cover he was in the way and I was suffering shooting in case I wanted to go downrange so that at least a little bit is solved as well so with all of that said I have decided the following he just moved over like an inch too still hold on to marker one in case we go to around five and it matters we're shooting downrange at one of these walkers the nearest one in fact pulse lasers are hitting on threes okay three hits and these are eighty-four saving on sixes one save deadly three so that's six wounds down then the missile pod so hit saves on trees that's less than half so we'll do a more I'll check uh you know what that's cocked you can reroll it a five okay so it passes he's down to five ones left yeah David just pointed something out that different difficult terrain prevents them moving more than six inches so they won't be able to get over here to the enemy lines so he's just moving up and presumably unloading yep okay - laser Lance's as usual two hits saving on sixes one save okay deadly six regenerating six wounds one two three of them get through he's down to thirteen he moves over to claim five and now he's shooting two more laser Lance's oh my goodness and we're a lot of moments of destiny oh man he got distracted by the pinstripes [Music] he's moving some defenders over there meantime we'll just come over here get a look at the board from this side for a moment enjoy the scenery all right one laser cannon one laser can identify missed oh no they got tripped up in that rubble okay this one over two more laser your Lance's okay saving on six is regenerating on five eleven eleven of them get through so that puts him down to two wounds left do a morale check where L is the 2 plus fearless makes three met AP Z's eat that APC zoomed up 24 inches to claim marker for what else you got hi-c ur gonna destroy your eyes oh okay hi-c you're flying up 12 his standard move then he's going to what psychic first our psychic last for the drama okay shooting first shard pistol come in hitting on three bring it twin shard gun okay here's the rent first doesn't save can't regenerate and then the other one no armor there's pain save one gets through believe we have to take more I'll test reversed more Al's good all right now the psychic power one wound left this is your last offense in this potentially in this game can you do it one wound left this is the lay this is last activation right this could be it if we don't go to the turn five that's right so he is my warlord so if you kill him you'll get that point that's a good one too all right more of destiny all right okay got that how many hits to every single one that's been to at 81 saving on a three that's not a save that is a save by region 5 does not regen I psyched him out all right - boom and all the Knights have blown up that's a victory point for slay the warlord for you and that takes us to the bottom the floor doesn't it so at the moment at the moment it is 2 to 6 that includes the point you just got and let's see what we've cleaned so we're tied at 6 did I get any of these no I didn't get any of them right now we're tied let us roll and on a 5 up we go to a turn 5 would you like to do the honors no all right so that's the way it ends for now despite being destroyed we were able to hold off forces long enough that presumably more reinforcements are inbound the game is a draw okay so it was initial impressions all right I'm cutting in here we spent the next couple minutes talking kind of incoherently about the game so I thought I'd neatly summarize our discussion for you first off I deliberately chose high elf fleets because they have accessed lots of rending and I thought that would make a more level playing field against the night's turns out maybe a little overkill still it took all four turns to bring them down that said I think a pure Titan list is going to be very difficult to sustain I think the intent is that you take one of them and combine it with like a battle brothers or a human Defense Force list now I know that I was the Titan player but I still think the following comments are not biased Titans need a way to hit more reliably there's precedent in this game some of the heroes in the wormhole demons list have a quality of two plus or if a Titan can't have a two plus then maybe there's a unique army specific rule that allows a Titan to re-roll one miss per round or something like that they don't have any army specific rules right now which is unusual so I don't think that creating just one would become overwhelming or be counter to the mission statement of simplicity I do think regeneration is absolutely essential if you run a Titan give it regen if not for that this would have been even more of a landslide related big change in the newest core rules that we use tonight is that rending weapons ignore regeneration and obviously that played a big role and I like it it's a much-needed balancing change if you've seen my previous battle reports with my robot legions and therefore up regions suddenly those aren't so nigh and vulnerable which i think is a good thing remember if you want to try out wargaming download the free rules and army lists for grim dark future and make yourself some ultra cheap card stock armies using my tutorials and if you want to make some of these objective card decks for yourself there's a link below for a PDF just
