day there wasn't promise to us we thank you for waking us up this morning letting us see you another day we uh just ask that you go with us throughout this day father and be with us all pick our mind and hearts as the minister come and deliver the message to us this morning that we may receive it and use it in our everyday life and try to help others get saved also continue to be with us all as we go through this service in jesus name we do pray amen oh yeah how y'all doing it's good to be here this morning jesus hold my hand as i travel through this [Music] [Music] and it is [Music] jesus [Applause] [Music] [Applause] my [Applause] [Music] because when i knew bless you jesus [Music] oh [Music] [Music] bless you jesus [Applause] [Music] [Music] yes [Music] [Music] me [Music] [Music] oh yes [Music] [Music] please [Music] all right all right all right god has given us another lord today another chance to worship him another chance to praise him and i'm joining you today i am sitting at the table i know you probably at your dining room table on a kitchen table and i've got me something to drink and i pray you've got something to drink but above all of that i pray you are in the spirit on the lord's day that somehow you know that you are blessed and you are blessed by the best and that you have gotten in your spirit today that you want to serve him listen i uh i'm excited about the opportunity to be able to present the word of god and to be used by god today and i'm praying that he will use the word and he will use me today but before i launch into the word i want to take a moment and i want to ask a personal question they call it preachers pleasures preachers pleasure here's my question are you registered to vote i ask it i ask it i want to know i want to know if you're registered to vote it's just in weeks now just in weeks people will be going to the polls and and i want to remind you that people gave their life for the opportunity for us to cast the ballot and so if you are not registered to vote hurry up and get registered and then after you get registered hurry up and vote uh don't don't don't let anybody tell you that your vote doesn't count it does matter and so i'm praying i'm praying that we will be politically astute and that we will cast our vote listen uh we have been enjoying ourselves in the book of psalms anybody want to say amen and so i'm taking us back there i want you to meet me i want you to meet me in the book of psalms and i want you to meet me in the 24th division psalms psalms is the book chapter number 24 and i want to stand and if you you don't mind standing you can stand and i want to um reading your hearing two verses psalms chapter 24 verse 1 and verse 2. when you locate it if you don't mind just say amen the bible reads the earth is the lord's and everything in it the world and all who live in it for he found it on the seas and established it on the waters listen to verse 1 again the earth is whose church is whose church and everything in it the world and all who live in it just for a moment i want to capture your attention and i want to spend this moment this day focusing on the topic quit acting like it's yours if you don't mind if you don't mind help me with the sermon if you're close to somebody just kind of point your finger at him hit him just just tell him quit acting like what acting like it's yours what acting like is yours be seated good acting like is yours about oh i guess two maybe three miles from here my wife and i built a house it was absolutely a dream come true can i tell you can i tell you before we built that house we were living in katy texas in fact we were living 25 miles one way from the church and 25 miles back we were driving the church on sunday morning 25 mile driving back 25 miles and then driving back 25 miles and then driving back 25 miles we were taking our kids to northland christian that was 25 miles there 25 miles back and many times many times we would put a hundred miles a day on the car it was nothing for us to have 700 miles on the car in less than a week we moved there as i said before i became minister of this fine family one of the elders brother bill miller saw what we were doing brother miller wanted to help and so brother miller took us to a section where we built the house and it was just a vacant piece of land and he showed us that land and he showed us the possibility and and can i tell you my wife and i started dreaming can i tell you my wife and i started praying can i tell you my wife and i started counting our penance we we thought about the possibility we we were spending at least 15 hours a week on the freeway and we said to ourselves now if we could have those 15 hours back we could be more productive for god so we started playing praying praying praying and and then i approached the guy that owned the lot and and i literally begged the guy to sell us the lot we had enjoyed living in katy and there were a number of different houses different bills in katy and so we reached out to a builder that was building in katy and we asked him to come bill for us and so two years later two years later after the construction process we moved in and we signed don't miss this we signed our lives away can i tell you anytime you sign a mortgage lease you in effect sign your life away march mortgage leases are scary sometimes sometimes when you sign a mortgage you pay two three times as much for the house because you gotta add entry anybody in here know what i'm talking about and then and then sometimes when you pay the note you you you pay almost all of it in interest and just a little bit in principle and so you keep saying yourself i wonder i wonder if i'm going to ever be able to pay this all i wonder i wonder i wonder it's scary it's scary and and so i need to tell you i need to tell you that with excitement that last month last month my wife and i were able to pay the last note can i can can i can i tell you i got all excited i i wanted to celebrate i i wanted to go have a good time we god had blessed us and and we had gotten that no paid off and i was so happy [Music] but i but uh but but i need to tell y'all something lean in close um it's still not free and clear i wanted to be able to tell the title company send me the title i wanted to be able to tell the mortgage company oh you can't have this one i want to tell the banker you can't have this one it's ours but but but i need to tell you and you need to hear me that there is another owner you you didn't hear me that there's another owner that's got a lien on that house and not only does he have a lien on my house but i need to tell you he's got a lead on your house not only does he have a lien on my house he's got to lean on my car and he's got to lean on your car i need to remind you if you haven't heard he owns this person that this this entity i'm talking about he owns everything when when when the apostle paul was reflecting the apostle paul said in first timothy chapter 6 verse 7 for we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it in in the old church the old preachers used to ask the question has anybody ever seen a u-haul trailer following behind a hearse in the old church someone would ask the question how much did he leave and someone would answer i will tell you he left it all listen listen don't don't don't don't miss the text let me read the text to you again listen to the text the text says the earth is the lord's and it's somebody to shout everything somebody shout everything he states first that the earth is the lord's and then he says everything in the world and then he compounds it and he says in all who live in it for he founded it upon the seas and establish it upon the water make no mistake about it oh you need to hear me today make no mistake about it god owns planet earth he owns everything and and and today i challenge you to draw a distinction between ownership and stewardship many times we assume we own something but but it all belongs to god can i can i just remind you i don't care how nice your car is i don't care how nice you look today i don't care about any of those acquisitions you have acquired all our acquisitions are under stewardship he owns it all back the bible states in genesis 1 and 1 in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth the bible states in genesis 1 verse 26 then god said let us make mankind in our image psalms 100 verse number 3 the bible says know that the lord is god it is he who made us and we are his we are his people the sheep of his pastor well i i want to remind myself and i want to remind all of us today that god owns it all that god owns everything he owns everything on planet earth in fact in fact one of those passages it seems god is sticking out his chest and in psalms chapter 50 he says i have no need of a bull from your stall or goats from your pen for every animal of the forest is mine the cattle on a thousand heals i know every bird in the mountain and the insects in the field of mine if i were hungry i would not tell you for the world is mine and all that is in it help me help me again help me look at look at the person next to you and just just tell them again quit acting like it's yours good acting good acting but acting like it's yours i i want to get personal with you today you need a pencil i want to get personal with you i want to give you four t's four t's i want to talk about four t's this morning that belonged to him we've already stated that the earth is his and everything that's in it we already stated that all of the people everything he owns but but but this morning i want you to grab a pencil i want to give you four t's that are undeniably his it belongs to him first teeth first teeth our time our time belongs to him somebody shout out time somebody shout again our time our time belongs to him next tee i want to give you is temple our temple our temple belongs to him somebody shot our temple our temple belongs to him next to our talents somebody shout our talent our talents belong to him and then the last tee are treasures our treasures belong to him somebody said oh he says treasure that's ouch he going for the pocketbook our treasures belong to him let's let's let's deal with those four teeth spend some moments grab your pencil go with me i i i need you to think about for a moment that our time our time our time belongs to him i need you to see a bank in your mind's eye right now i need you to see a bank i need you to see yourself as a customer of this bank you have your own personal account you have your own account number but but but this bank is sort of different in that this bank does not dispense cash this bank dispenses time every morning in your account automatically the bank deposited 86 400 seconds 86 400 seconds into your account and when it deposits that 86 400 seconds is non-transferable at the end of the day the balance is going to go back to zero it's in your account it's available to you you can write any kind of check you out on your 86 thousand 400 seconds somebody today has already started using your 86 400 seconds in the right way because you are worshiping god right now can i ask you i'm not getting i'm not going to get in your business but can i ask you what you're doing with your time i i told you everything belongs to god our time belongs to god listen to the ephesian writer the ephesian writer says be very careful then how you live not as unwise but as wise making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil how are you spending your time how you spending your time you spending your time while i know nobody have to tell me i i know stay home stay safe i know i know we can't do the things we normally do but but that is no excuse to waste your time listen what the bible says in second peter chapter 3 verse 8 the bible says but do not forget this one thing dear friends with the lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day we need to use every day wisely somebody say amen we need to make sure that as god deposits it into our account 86 400 seconds this day that we use it wisely many times procrastination gets in our way we've got good intentions we've got good plans but somehow it just doesn't happen i love this poem tomorrow he was going to be all that a model should be tomorrow no one should be kinder or braver than he tomorrow a friend who was troubled and weary he knew who'd be glad of a lift who needed it to on him he would call and see what he could do tomorrow each morning he stacked up the letters he'd write tomorrow and thought of the folks he would filled with the light tomorrow it was too bad indeed he was busy today and hadn't had a minute to stop on his way more time he would give to others he'd say tomorrow the greatest of workers this man would have been tomorrow the world would have known him had he ever seen tomorrow but the fact is he died faded from view and all that he left here when living was through was a mountain of things he intended to do tomorrow want to pause what's that and and and and and i'm talking about something that is valuable because you see time is the stuff that life is made up to waste your time is to waste your life he who fails to plan plans to fail the clock of life is wound but once no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop late or early hour now is the only time you own live love toil with a will place no faith in tomorrow for the clock may then be still moses in the oldest psalm written in the book of psalms in psalms chapter 90 verse 12 moses says teach us the number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom david writes in psalms 39 show me lord show me lord my life's in and the number of my days let me know how fleeting my life is you have made my days a mere hand breath the span of my years is there's nothing before you everyone is butter breath even those who seem secure then james says now listen you who say today or tomorrow we will go to this or to that city spend a year there carry on business and make money while you do not know even what will happen tomorrow what is your life you are a miss that appears for a little while and then vanishes away instead you ought to say if it's the lord's will we would live and do that i i know i know i'm talking to some people that because of this virus you're your awareness of time has slipped in fact in fact many times we do things just to make time pass we are confined to a house or we are confined to a desk or we cannot do the things we used to do and so many times we find ourselves watching tv wasting our time many times we find ourselves playing games and we're wasting our time many times we find ourselves chit chatting on the phone and we're wasting we waste our time and i want to remind you that time is valuable of only just a minute only 60 seconds in it forced upon me can't refuse it didn't seek it didn't choose it but it's up to me to use it i must suffer if i lose it give an account if i abuse it just a tiny little minute but eternity is in it our time our time belongs to him and not only not only does our time belong to him but let me give you another t our temple everybody say temple if i say temple again our temple belongs to him as a society we are so preoccupied we are so concerned with our bodies we are a body conscious society how tall are we how short are we how shapely are we how much muscle mass do we have how much fat tissue is there what's the color of our eyes what's the color of our hair the color of our fingernails color of our toenails our chest size our breast size our waist size the length of our hair the length of our eyelashes i'm telling you we are so cognizant of our body and we are always trying to clean it up we're always trying to paint it up and we're always trying to make it up and as a result of being so cognizant of our body as a result of spending so much energy on our body the cosmetic industry is a multi-billion dollar industry the cosmetic surgery industry is a multi-billion dollar industry it seems to me seems to me every year there's a new diet seems to me every year there is a new fashion seems to me that every street corner has a new health club and so and so i i need to stop for a second if i could i'd push a big belt and i would remind us that god doesn't care at all about how our externals are in fact in fact in fact you could have groomed yourself and and worked so that your body is a body that wins miss universe or your body is about it that wins mr universe you you're talking about your guns you're talking about your shape you're talking about your complexion you're talking about your skin color can i just tell you again that none of that stuff really matters to god first samuel chapter 16 the bible says but the lord said to samuel do not consider his appearance or his height for i have rejected him the lord don't miss this part the lord does not look at the things people look at people look at the outward appearance but the lord looks at the heart yes yes in the sense god is concerned with the body but but god is not concerned with the external body god is concerned with the internal body somebody say amen help me with this you you know we put in so much time making sure that every hair is in place we spend so much time making sure all of the colors are coordinated can i tell you the bible says god doesn't look at any of that what god looks at is the inside somebody shout it's my inside that matters the old preachers from the old school would say we need to be careful what we put into our bodies oh i said something i said something yeah yeah i need to say it again cause i didn't get any amens at all it got mighty quiet when i said that somebody said i know where he's going the old preachers would say we need to be careful what we put into our bodies anybody want to say amen the old preachers the old preachers would say we need to be careful what we put on our bodies oh wait am i in here by myself y'all out there aren't you i can't hear y'all and i certainly can't hear these people in here somebody said he gone in the middle and no no no i'm just telling you what the old preacher said the old preachers would say we need to be careful what we put on our violence and then the old preachers would say we need to be careful what we do with our body what we put in our body put on our bodies and what we do with our bodies i know i know i'm living in the same world that you live in i listen to the same music that you listen to i know tina tina would say it's my thing [Applause] i can do what i want to do with it but but but i want to remind you that god has another plan for our lives listen listen to what the bible says in matthew chapter 5 verse 13 the bible says you are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again it is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trample underfoot you are the light what's your plan for about bodies lord you are the light what's your plan for us you are the light of the world a town built on a hill that cannot be hit neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl instead they put it on the stand and it gives light to everyone in the house in the same way let your light shine let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify the father well what does god want us to do with our bodies what does god want us to do with our temples he wants us to let our bodies be an ambassador for him he wants people to be able to know by the way we dress what we put on remember what i see he wants people to know about what we drink what we smoke y'all in here with me y'all left didn't you y'all left i know y'all left y'all left y'all left y'all left y'all left come back come back there ought to be something about a child of god that's different from a child of the world that ought to be something when i get up and i put my clothes on there ought to be something that's different about the way i dress there will be something different about the way i talk there ought to be something different about the places i go because my body below i i don't own this thing i disagree with tina i like tina i like tina but i disagree with her that is not my thing and i can do what i want it's god's thing in fact in fact there's another passage over in corinthians where it says do not be yoked together with unbelievers for what do righteousness and wickedness have in coming there's another passage over in romans chapter 12 where it says therefore i urge you brothers and sisters in view of god's mercy to offer your bodies somebody say by this offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to god this is your true and proper worship what does god want god wants our bodies he owns us he made us he ought to be able to tell us what to put on our bodies he ought to be able to tell us what to put in our bodies he ought to be able to tell us where to take our bodies to somehow if god is in ownership we ought to be listening corinthian letter says that do you not know that your bodies are the temples of the holy spirit what a powerful thought what a powerful thought that that in your body in my body god resides it is a temple it is a structure designed for the holy spirit to inhabit he owns our bodies he owns our body say the title of this lesson again quit quit quit quit acting like it's yours just see with acting like it's yours let's let's run after another one our treasures our treasures our treasures somebody said treasures might say treasures again we did our time we did our temple now let's do our treasures our treasures belong here sometimes sometimes we spend all of our time chasing after another zero like if i can if i can get another zero if i can make if i can turn this five figure into a six figure and so we spend all of our time we spend all of our energy we work full time we work part time we work weekend jobs we we got all kinds of jobs because we're chasing another zero i want to remind you that there are some things that money cannot buy money can buy bear but it cannot buy sleep money money can buy books but it cannot buy brain money can buy food but it cannot buy an appetite money can buy finery but it cannot buy beauty money can buy a house but it cannot buy a home money can buy medicine but it cannot buy health money can buy luxuries but it cannot buy culture money can buy amusement but it cannot buy happiness money can buy companions but it really came by friends money can buy flattery but it cannot buy respect oh hear me today i'm not trying to minimize your blessings i'm glad god has blessed you if you know god has blessed you would you shout i'm blessed shout it again i'm blessed but then as you shout i'm blessed james shout back do not be deceived my brothers every good and perfect gift is from above yes we are showered with blessing god wants us to have blessing god wants us to have things but he does not want our things to have us did i say that too fast let me take a sip let's back up i want to say that one again god wants us to have things but he does not want our things to have us somehow as he blesses us instead of our things getting the glory he wants the glory in fact that god not only wants us to have things god sent his son and the son says i came that you may have life and have life how. more abundant god wants us to have things in fact if you look in the bible there is a principle called the sea harvest principle what god wants to do is god wants us to sow a seed and reap a harvest say it with me sorcy say it again sorcy reaper harvest god wants us to use our money to sow a seed say it again and then after we use our money to sow a seed he wants us to reap a is that preacher where you get that from well i'm glad you asked it's all over the bible look look look at proverbs chapter 3 verse 9 and 10. proverbs chapter 3 verse 9 and 10. the bible says honor the lord with your will with the first fruits of all your crops then your bones will be filled to overflowing and your vats will bring them over with new wine god says remember me first don't don't don't don't remember me after you have played paid the cable tv after you have paid the charge cards after you've done all god says no no no honor me with the first fruits and after you honor me with the first fruits then your barns will be filled with overflowing somebody say see somebody say c harvest c harvest let's get another one luke 6 38 luke 6 verse 38 the bible says give and it will be given to you a good measure pressed down shaken together and running over and poured into your lap for with the measure you use it will be measured to you i'm talking to somebody that that this coronavirus stuff hadn't really affected you you still got as much money maybe even more money than you had before you are still being blessed and and i want to remind you that it's wrong it's wrong to rob god did y'all hear me y'all got mighty quiet again god wants our first fruit in fact god says give and it will be given to you good measure press down shaken together and running over it will be poured into your lap for with the measure you use it will be used for you then that corinthian passage says remember this whoever souls sparingly will reap how church yeah if you stand you with god then don't expect god to open the wonders of heaven i had so many passages that i'd love to sit and take you through but but i just want to remind you i know somebody says the most sensitive nerve in the body is the nerve that goes from the finger back to the wallet it's the nerve that goes from the hand to the purse but but i want to remind you that god owns everything god says listen i i i i i if i was hungry i wouldn't tell you but but god wants to see whether or not we understand that he is the great giver that he is the great supplier that he is the resource and so he gives us money he gives us treasures but he wants us to use those treasures for let's run i want to take you to the last one very quickly and that is our talent somebody say talents our talents belong to him i want to remind you at the beginning of this year the garden oaks church of christ took a number of you people you members my brothers my sisters we all went out to lunch and we all promised that we would be involved in ministries this year anybody remember that we all promised ourselves that we were going to use our talents for god there were a number of different ministries we listed that was the education ministry that was the nursery ministry that was the college ministry that was the singles ministry that was the wise owls ministry that was the woman's ministry that was the building and grounds ministry that was the men's ministry after a minute can i can i just say to you hear me just because there is a pandemic doesn't mean that we can quit working for god in fact in fact instead of quit working for god we need to have some more ministers we need to have somebody say you know what i want to start the text message ministry i want to start the email ministry i i want i want the church to know that the family still cares about them we care about each other and so count on me to use my talents i'll be a part of a card ministry i'll be a part of a call ministry just give me an opportunity because i want to use anybody want to use that talent for god i mean god has kept us from this cove at 19 hadn't he hadn't he blessed us and since he's blessed us i want to find a way i want to find a way to maximize my talents for him i don't want to cheat on him yeah he can have my money he can have my talents you can have my time but i also want him to have everything i own got the best of me because he owns me i i love i love the passage over in matthew chapter 25. matthew chapter 25 there is a passage and it's it's it's the end and it says for the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country who called his servants and delivered unto them his goods and the one he gave five talents another two another one to every man according to his ability straight away he took his journey then he had received the five talents and went then he had that had received the five talents win and traded with the same made them other five talents and likewise he that had received two he also went and got other two he had he but he that had received won went and loved in the earth and hid his lord's money well you know that story i don't want to take you through that story we all have talent and we ought to all be using our talents for god somebody save me so i want to challenge you i want to challenge you i want to challenge you let's use our talents for god let's find ways innovative ways to say to god i love you you've given me life you've given me breath and i want to use my gift for you you know um when i was in school it was always a fearful time when report card day came i i never i never quite knew what the teacher was going to put on that report card the report card was a way of examining whether or not i had grasped the material and whether i had succeeded in my assignment and so i was always a bit fearful when the report card time came anybody else feel for when report card time okay and then i then i got through school and i went to work and then when i went to work i started working for this company and this company had what they call a performance review every year every year they would call us in and they had a scale from one to five and one was you didn't do well and five you exceeded in everything and so you could go anywhere on that scale to satisfactory to need improvement up and down and so that that was a fearful time because that was a time to evaluate uh whether or not i had performed did i get to work on time did i do my assignments it was it was a fearful time for me and then when i went to work for mcdonald's as an owner operator they had what call what they call a owner review and those happen every 18 months and they would figure out whether or not we were what they called expandable so they'd look back and they'd see what we've done and they critique us and that was a fearful thing can i can i just somebody says preacher where are you going with all this well can i just remind you that there is a great day coming i need to say that again can i just remind you there's a great day coming and and this time it won't be teachers that's grading us this this time it won't be employers that's grading us the the the bible reminds us that we're going to all give an account of the things that we have done in this body he he gave us 86 400 seconds per day he gave us life he gave us ability and and and all of it belongs to him and one day he's going to call us in and the books are going to be open and he's going to judge us according to what's written in the book can can i encourage you today quit acting like quit acting like is yours it all belongs to god stand to your feet this morning stand to your feet what a joy to know what a joy to know that it all belongs to god that we belong to god there is a side that says since i belong to god he's going to take care of me i don't care where i go i don't care what happens to me i belong to god and god's got it somebody say amen i want to encourage you today if you have not made peace with god you have not made it right with god can i encourage you to make it right with god today it's so simple to make it right with god there's a passage in isaiah where god says come let us reason together though your sins be read as crimson they will be white and snow what do you want god i want to reason with you i want to fix whatever problem it is i want you and i to be in cahoot together i want you and i to be back together and so this morning if you're listening to me and you are a guilty distance away from god can i encourage you to fix it the bible says if we confess our sins he's faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness if you're not a member of the family of god you come by hearing you come by believing you come by repenting confessing and being baptized you can be a child of god today respond to that he owns you he loves you he wants to use you we're going to sing a song and if you need to respond if you want to respond respond right now as we sing the song of there are some things all of this one thing is that my god is real for i can feel him in my soul don't you know don't you know god is [Music] and he made [Music] [Laughter] all right all right i bless you god bless you thank you so much for listening i pray that as you get up from the breakfast table as you go about your business today that somehow you will be reminded you know what it all belongs to him belongs to him i belong to him my time my talents everything i have belongs to him and i want to use it wisely for god i want to give you two announcements and then uh we'll allow you to be going about your business but the pause is going to come and make some comments and we're going to commune together but but one of the things i want you to hear me say is at the end of this month the last sunday in september i think it's september the 27th 10 o'clock in the morning if the lord says the same we're going to worship in the parking lot we'll have fun we're going to be social distancing we'll stay in our car or stay in the parking lot we're praying for good weather we're trying to set up a system so you can sit in your car and you can hear on the radio and you can blow your horn if something is worthy uh you can you can sing with us you can praise you can see your friends at a distance and so that's the last sunday in this month september the 27th we call it worship in the parking lot and i don't know i heard somewhere i don't know if it's true or not but i heard somewhere that there might be some food that's run out to the car after we worship together it might be lunch i don't know i need to go back and check that so don't don't hold me to that but that's that's the last sunday in this month uh worship in the parking lot and then there's another initiative that we have going and many of you know that there was a hurricane recently that was headed for houston but instead of coming to houston it went to lake charles and so what we're trying to do is we're trying to be our brother's keeper uh and so on your give app there's an opportunity for you to give money for a hurricane relief for those of you that are in the audience and you want to give just grab an envelope and scratch and make it hurricane relief we want to make sure that we do for others as others have done for us you remember when hurricane harvey was here people sent money all over to help us and so now it's our time to help somebody else and so i'm praying i'm praying that you will be mindful of both of those things the last sunday in september worship in the park and then also our hurricane relief program god bless you perhaps i'd like to thank brother tillman for the message you know as i've gotten older i've i really like to test god and give him my best and see what happens he knows almost all the time when i give god my best he fills me back up and so it makes it so much easier for me to give god my best because i know he's looking out for me god is able to go beyond my pockets what i mean by that that there are times he blesses us that money cannot reimburse for what he does for us that he fixes our health he makes things happen he blesses family members things that you can never ever do that god has the ability to do it for you go beyond our hypocrisy beyond our abilities we have several that have come forward we're going to ask you to stand as we want to you to make a public confession because we're trying to be careful and not transfer uh things on paper is that all right so please forgive us and each time i'm not trying to be uh trying to be sensitive that after you speak i will be wiping the mic for the next person is that all right i need to be safe and you need to be safe and so this is what we're going to do until we could get past this pandemic okay brothers and sisters i'm vanessa burton um and i'm asking prayer for our son kade he is gonna have some tests done on tomorrow um so we're just praying that everything comes out well brothers and sisters i like to ask forgiveness from my sins i'm also asking prayers for my family members that are going for going through some things at this time thank you brothers and sisters my name is antonio macarthur i come in well i come frequently but i'm from lake lake charles louisiana but i just ask that you guys continue to keep my city in prayer but also we do want to thank you for the uh the relief effort that was given and this amount of love and appreciation you guys have shown us for we really do appreciate it but just continue to keep the city in prayer brothers and sisters ask for forgiveness or sins and also i pray that you guys can continue to encourage our our generation to continue to do our best we want to thank those who've come forward further antonio kind of let the bag the out the back because this church has already been aggressive in trying to help the city of lake charles it's this church has already done things and we need the congregation to continue the support and if you can send it in your gift app for lake charles or if you want to write a check and despite the relief effort the church will make certain those funds will get to where they belong i received on facebook brother ken phillips will be having eye surgery uh this week so please keep in him in your prayers sister uh sister pass sister uh so please keep that family in your prayers sister sister charles brother i think he lives in california he passed keep maple charles and her family in your prayers and there are many that are suffering from this disease and there's this pandemic they're not making it known and i understand that so please keep your uh this family in your prayers i do want to encourage you to continue to wear your masks and do social distancing and not let up because this this pandemic is not over it just taken hiatus that we've gotten to a good point we need to continue to do what we can so we can get back to normal as we would know let's pray on behalf of those who've come forward righteous father in heaven we thank you god in times like this we realize that life is short we realize their father through the difficulty of times and many times people we love uh find themselves infected by this pandemic we ask you to be with us lord we ask you to keep us safe from all seen in unseen danger we also ask you the father to protect us to father help us to be mindful of of you and be mindful of our blessings that you send our way but we ask you to help us to be steeled there are times in our life we want to move and we know we need to be still and listen to you so god for those who've come forward we ask that who've asked for forgiveness lord we ask you to forgive us of our sins whether they've been by words thoughts or in deeds then remember our sins no more for the brother who's asking for prayers for the members that are in lake charles we ask you to continue to watch over them and allow them to rebuild and allow them to be stronger than ever lord watch over that that city help them their father and we realize that some are still uh without lights and the roofs are damaged when it rains rain still comes in their houses and churches so god help us to be mindful of that the father for the young man that's about to have tears for the phillips family that's about to have eye surgery father for sister wells as she grieves her sister help us their father to be mindful help us to do our part although we cannot be close to father help us to have the the willingness to send texts and calls and calls let our loved ones know that we're there for them the father as we continue with our service help us lord to forget about the cares of the world for a few moments and truly focus on you dear father we know that you know everything about us that you know every hair on our head that you know our deepest thoughts you know our issues you know our successes help us to father to be mindful and trust in you for all that we do in everything that we say in every aspect of our lives and jesus so many other blessings we ask of you in jesus name we pray let amen adore the ever living god and render praise unto him who spread out the heavens and establish the earth and whose glory oh lord is manifest throughout all the earth [Applause] [Music] [Music] we now come to a part of our worship in which we remember our lord we see jesus before pilate when he is condemned to die the cruel cross we see him as he is beaten by the soldiers mocked where they placed a throne on top of his head thumb making like that he was king we see him as he is made to carry his cross we see him as he is placed upon the cross and nailed to that cross and then the cross is dropped in a hole with the full weight on his body that's why we remember him every first day of the week acts 20 and 7 the disciples came together to break bread in remembrance of our lord and savior and then we have in first corinthians 11 chapter starting at the 23rd verse it says that we take this bread in remembrance of him we take this cup in remembrance of him and we do so with clean hands and clean spirits that it be not counted against us in the last days let us pray dear merciful and kind father your god we come thanking you for your love for us that you would sacrifice your only son to die that we might live father we pray that you will forgive us of any sin that would be counted against us in judgment have mercy upon us to god and help us to do what is right before your eyes these things follow the reacts in jesus name do we pray amen [Music] and he will need [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] me we now come to the collection a part of our worship in which we give back to what god has blessed us with and we find in second corinthians 9 6 and 7 on how we supposed to give but he says that he would sow it sparingly shall reap also sparingly and he would sow it bountifully shall reach also bountifully every man according as he purposed in his heart so let him give not grudgingly out of necessity necessity but god loving or cheer for him so that's how we give and when do we give it we give on the first day of the week we find in first corinthians 16 1 and 2 that we're to give on the first day of the week that it be no gathering when he comes so give and give in a bountiful way so that god can bless you in a bountiful way we have that of different ways in which we're given now because of the pandemic you can go online to the god notes church of christ website that's garden oaks dot cfc.org and then you press give to give the offering and then we have that of you press give online and there you're able to give a calling as you prosper and give a little bit more to make up for the interest but give as god has blessed you let us pray the merciful and kind father dear god we just want to say thank you thanking you for the blessings that you have afforded us and father we pray that we give not with a closed hand and a tight fist but we give openly abundantly that you will provide for us in the in the like manner bless our brother and that would use these funds for the uplifting of your kingdom father that you'll have mercy upon us these things father do we ask in about how god's treasure is he is you may not know it but every now and then we even have homeless people in the area that will come and stuff a twenty dollar bill in the door when the door is closed there are times folks that are not members put extra money in various places even in this building because they know that the more they give god the more god gives us and you know sometimes we talk about the rich keep getting richer could it possibly be that the rich keeps getting richer because they figured out the concept of giving so in a real sense if some of us folks that's poor like me figure that out maybe we may get to be on the other side because god will keep giving us things that money can't buy so in a real sense we we're not trying to ask you for your money we're saying that you giving god your money may be the greatest blessing that you could get because the more you give god believe me the more god gives back to you so i want to encourage you to be generous not to go in oaks that's not what we're trying to do but the more you give to god literally means the more god gives back to you so it's important that we truly understand that concept of time and treasure and knowing it's all his in the first place sister uh davidson according and thanking the church for your prayers your courts and your gifts doing the loss of her mother keep her in your prayers sometimes it's not two three weeks go by that we not have a loved one whose family that's we are going to the graveyard to bury so keep these families in your prayers and i also want to and i don't want to overstate this but we need to be very very careful with this pandemic there are times in fact i was talked to the other day that we need to make certain that we're cognizant even after services we want to encourage you to if it's not a part of your family that you keep your distance and you keep your mask on so you can be safe because we want you to be around if the lord's willed to next week and the week after and the week after so the only way to do that right now is social distancing and keeping your mask on we've asked brother brown to help police this so brother brown walks to you and tell you you need to go on home it's not because he's trying to get you out of the building it's really about keeping you safe if some if you come in without a mask that will people at the door will actually give you extra mass not because they're trying to run you but they're trying to keep you safe and keep themselves safe most of us has over 60 we really need you to be safe because your safety uh depends our health many times depends on your safety um brother tillman had mentioned about in just a couple of weeks we're planning to have worship in the parking lot there's so many caveats to this and we're so excited about it someone even mentioned having a few chairs outside socially distance in front of the pulpit other folks said in your cars uh other folks are talking about food but we're planning to have a good time in the lord so whichever way we do this so come excited come with your hearts filled and in a real sense as we worship this is not about john this is about all of us worshiping together that you should not come as a spectator you should come prepared to roll up your sleeves and help us do a great job for the lord if you have ministries or things that you need to be involved in this can be a great opportunity to get your ministries together and to be running for god we want to encourage you to do this this is about a group effort us working together to build up the name of god also i'm told that the youth will be coming real soon they'll be having an activity i believe they will have movie on the parking lot and it's been carefully uh orchestrated both of these where the weather will be pleasing to us that it will not we do not expect it to be 100 degrees outside in a couple of weeks we're expecting the weather to be in the 80s it'll be very beautiful weather comfortable weather so we could come in our short sleeves and roll your window windows down and really sing and praise god to the fullest again we want to encourage you not to be a live in a vacuum there are people who need to hear god's word that people's lives that need to be changed help us do that you can help us do this financially you could share god's message you could come and support us but don't just sit at home and let the other guys do the work come and be involved do something to share god's word because god is depending on us to be his hands and feet for him especially during times like these when time's over i would hate to see god's face and he asked what did you do during this time i want to be able to tell god i did all i could do i stood i tried to fight this is where we ought to be is that all right let's not forget our midweek bible classes i want to encourage you that particularly our youth and our spanish group to make sure you connect uh at those uh uh designated times so you can be counted so you could be blessed as we try to open god's book and share more items with god's of god's word let us stand so we can be dismissed our father and our god god we thank you god we thank you for life itself that many times dear father we go to the marketplace we move around and we find others that not be in social distance their father we we move around and we find others are not as concerned as they should be during times such as this so we ask you the father to to protect us to watch over us to guide us dear father for there are things happening in this land and country that's completely out of our control so we know their father that you are in control of the things around us so we ask that you keep us safe help us to do our do your will help us to live a way that others may realize that we're peculiar people because of the god we serve god we ask you to be with our children god we ask you to be with our grandchildren we ask you to be with our brothers and sisters we ask your god to be with all of our loved ones as they too try to be safe during this difficult time so god be with us watch over us and protect us until we
