[Applause] [Music] hey there friends thanks for checking in today we're looking at the new Glock 48 a lot of the buzz about these two models had to do with the Glock 43 but now we have the Glock 48 and I had some people say hey I want to learn more about that it does have the 4.1 7 inch barrel a little bit longer does have the PVD coating on the slide the front serrations the thinner grip and the magazine that carries ten rounds now I recently reviewed the Glock 43 and these two guns are extremely similar they do share the exact same magazines and they shared the exact same frame and many people were asking me about that so I'm going to demonstrate that right now we'll go ahead and disassemble the Glock 48 and here we have the Glock 43 we're also going to compare it to the Glock 19 I got a lot of requests for that now here you saw me just take this off the Glock 43 X and here's the Glock 48 frame we'll just push that recoil spring in there a bit and there you go works just fine I I did this off-camera a couple times so that just proves to you that they do share the exact same frame but the one thing that this has is a very thin profile now let me get the Glock 43 out of the way and I want to bring in the Glock 19 this carries 10 rounds this carries 15 rounds we'll take a look at the grip width and in it it's a big difference you know this is a blocky gun a very well-loved gun many people carry the Glock 19 they love the reliability you're gonna get the same out of this but there are some things that are different let me go ahead and drop the mag they're both guns are empty the difference is not just with the grip with take a look at the slide the Glock 19 slide is one point two six inches the Glock 48 is one point one inches so you could actually see it right there now the barrel is just a little bit longer with the Glock 48 hardly noticeable but there is well another thing that I want to talk about that is different between the two and will show clear here check this out I found this pretty interesting okay so we got this the same exact disassembled here's your recoil spring and guide ride with the Glock 19 so clear there and we'll disassemble the 48 the one thing that kind of shocked me a little bit is the difference in the the recoil spring look at the difference in the the overall length of it all right and you can see you know it looks like the Glock 48 the and it is a polymer guide rod that is just a little bit smaller and the Glock 19 the reason for that is because the dust cover is built into the slide the frame stops and then it moves to the dust cover that does have a hole in there that you're gonna actually see the barrel right through there but that guide rod stops right there which explains why it is so shorter if we look at the Glock 19 the frame and the dust cover are all in one as where this frame which is smaller is a separate piece than the dust cover which is milled into the slide and this is what the bags look like all right 15 rounds double-stack 10 rounds single stack let's go ahead and get the Glock 19 on the scale without around to the chamber it's weighing in at 1 pound 14 and 1/8 ounce we move that to just bounces we're looking at 30 and 1/8 ounce with 15 rounds here we have a loaded Glock 48 and that's weighing in at twenty four and seven eight ounces sometimes I put it on there it's an even 25 but you're looking at difference of five ounces so not only do you get higher capacity with the Glock 19 we already knew that but the the grip width the slide width is all a little bit larger with the Glock 19 I took the Glock 48 to the range it performed exactly as I had hoped for and expected it was extremely reliable but this was my first range visit I used ammo incorporated just regular 115 grain target loads but it was totally fine it was exactly what I thought now not a great difference here I already mentioned okay we'll take a look at the slide length we'll see that it's about three quarters of an inch longer with the Glock 40 Inc the difference here is you're basically getting a slimline Glock 19 that's just how I see it with a PVD coated and front serrations but you know it was a cold windy and blistery day my hands were numb and I still did okay with the Glock 48 it's shot totally fine you know just as one would expect with a Glock with it with a four inch barrel and I felt comfortable with it you know I settled into it after a while as well as I could with numb fingers but I did enjoy it I did enjoyed the way wade shot you know that I was used with the gun of this size of compact size to have more rounds you know we look at the Glock 43 X we said that's great that has 10 rounds and over here we're saying oh hang on isn't supposed to have 15 rounds not with that very thin grip as I mentioned the Glock 48 has a PVD coated slide I think it looks kind of cool it's like a matte finish not much of a shine off of it but I do think the benefit will be that it will reduce holster whereas it you know goes in and out of the holster hundreds or even thousands of times you're not going to see those rub marks and the muzzle end of the slide that's just my opinion I'm pretty confident with that opinion I know a lot of guys said you know they should offer the choice either a blued slide or that PVD coated slidin and I get that but we also have to understand that it's a Glock it's going to sell I know it will and aftermarket companies will be making everything for this and the Glock 43 X as they do with all the Glock models I know a lot of people are going to change out the sights they're going to be different types of slide assemblies that will be available as well and people will customize the Glock 48 the same way they do the Glock 19 and the 26 and the 27 in there and all the other models so we have to keep that in mind that is something that people love and I'm sure that will be available in the future actually the very near future in my opinion but there it is a thinner model that's a compact size that sure shot well at the range and I think this model is going to make a lot of people happy if you're like
