by combining gothic victorian themes rarely seen in videogames with the critically-acclaimed souls formula blood-borne was destined to be discussed but in from soft taking the souls name out of the title it found itself in the unique position of attracting demons and Dark Souls veterans as well as new players that had never heard the word invasion applied to PvP and thought a quality weapon referred to weapons quality blood-borne offered little mercy to those new to its genre and as a result has received more journalistic attention and online conversation than possibly any other from software title it's no surprise that these individuals began to find holes in the formula and ways to exploit mechanics they considered intangible this is a list of the most influential glitches to come out of this era and without further delay let's go to yharnam while the top-down glitch has limited practicality it was an early find and helped content creators secure an interesting recording angle for a game with no camera mod this glitch is super simple and manipulates the camera England used in every souls game when the character drops from a height that cannot be recovered from the reason for this lies in the way 3d models for environments are rendered it requires twice the processing power to render a wall with two sides as it does to render a one-sided wall most games render one-sided walls and floors facing inward toward the camera so if the game runs more smoothly in order to avoid visual issues that would occur by following the character into a pit and out of bounds it stops short and engels itself downward but there are a few areas in blood-borne that are a bit too liberal with this angle change for example an old yharnam from the ladder used to reach dura it's possible to drop onto a small platform and trick the camera into thinking the character's falling normally dropping from the slider is lethal but this platform is low enough to make the ball survivable which keeps the camera locked into the state until death the controls in the state behave the same which is to say that up moves the character forward regardless of the relative direction needless to say there's a bit of a learning curve when playing in this state this glitch can also be triggered in Cathedral Ward and used to skip the locked door leading into forbidden woods but beyond this and inspiring hundreds of game journalists to confuse blood-borne with Diablo this glitch doesn't have much use every Souls game has a specific soul farming method developed fairly early on it seems to circulate online and only after the fact seems foolish sometimes it's watching some extraordinary forest cliff diving sometimes it's bouncing on the head of the Grim Reaper in the shrine of storms and sometimes it's walking around a table in Youssef quz clinic yep to trigger this glitch sprint through the forbidden woods kill the dogs locked in the cages and take the leftmost path through the cave DSF cos Clank after going up stairs and opening the shortcut the player character is far enough away from the woods for it to be unloaded from the game to save memory this table just inside seems to be on the line between loading and unloading the woods and triggering it repeatedly spawns and kills the dogs in these cages over and over this works because the dogs are released from the cages as an ambush after the player travels far enough away from them because the area is being loaded and unloaded these dogs drop to their deaths immediately after release this whole farming method is painfully slow but it didn't stop the internet from spreading it's used like wildfire it was passed out of the game in version 1.0 3 but you have to ask yourself does it really matter [Laughter] on a day one version of blood-borne it was possible to enter the rooms of certain bosses through alternative means and prevent triggering the fight to begin this meant that the balls could be defeated without the fight music playing boss health bar appearing or their AI initiating the vicar Amelia it was as simple as quitting the game after her transformation and reloading the game to spawn in the center of the chapel well within the boss fog gate in this state amelia is expecting the player to entered the fog but since they're already inside she just doesn't move at all unfortunately both my attempts to initiate this glitch on the unpatched disk and an up-to-date digital version of the game were unsuccessful which likely means this is one of those mid patch glitches we'll never get to see again however there is a similar glitch with the shadows of yharnam and it very much works on version 1.0 to the left of the giant pig just before the fog gate there's a tree that can be used to clip out of balance on a version of the game before patch 1.08 onto the cliff face using this hitbox exploit the player can drop into the ball stream trigger the fight this is necessary because unlike Amelia the models for the shadows don't actually appear until your first attempt from here a quittin reload will spawn the hunter not in the boss room but close enough to mobilize these NPC anchors if the normal fight is a 1v3 this glitch makes it a 1 v-0 I mean there are technically still three bosses here but are they really the orphan of cost is perhaps the most difficult single enemy in blood-borne the being part of the DLC there are a few strategies that can be used to manipulate his mechanics that being said thanks to em may I say we know of at least one the orphan seems to have an incomplete set of animations specifically when being attacked out of a stagger by certain weapons not limited to the blade of mercy pebbles and throwing knives this leaves the orphan locked to one location and not able to attack for around six seconds the difficulty in this is that the orphan can still slowly spin to face the player so in this window the hunter must land another charge backstab and strike with another of the affected weapons in order to keep the chain going performing a visceral attack breaks the chain so though the player can't be heard while the chain is being continued it's a slow method of dealing damage and demands a high level of precision that fighting the boss normally doesn't this glitch can still be performed on the latest batch but unless you're fighting the orphan on new in +7 it's likely a little use outside of entertaining trick when it comes to finding glitches most of them come out of the speedrunning community and the speedrunners favorite glitch is anything that lets them finish the game faster every Souls game has it skips but blood-borne has a lot of them first there's the nightmare frontier skip which you just slow walking into the elevator shortcut shaft with a quit and reload to respawn a few inches lower than the edge this makes the fall survivable and gives instant access to the latter half of the stage and yes this still works on the current patch there's the Luminarium skill which uses a leg of a phosphorescent flower to gain early access to rom skipping willem and the Luminarium entirely and yes this still works on the current patch there's the hard goal scope which uses a fast lunge such as the salt cleavers charge attack to clip the hunter through this point in the fence just beyond the first lamp and gives immediate access to the one reborn and yes this still works on the current patch there's the fishing hamlets Kip that's just as simple as jumping up a rock formation underneath the first house after the white house hunt lamp and gives instant access to the orphan of Kos and yes this too still works on the current patch but the most influential skip on this list and the only one of the former that's been patched is the skip into yosef cos clinic from central yharnam by using a coffin lying against the wall in the back alley where the first executioner's found it's possible to jump onto the wall of the fence separating the cathedral courtyard from the rest of century Arnhem then by using the sacs near the coach at the far end it's possible to jump over the remainder of the fence and gain access there forbidden woods and all the areas beyond it before even killing Gascoigne most of the skips in this game are inconsequential but it's a shame we lost this one it makes the game far less linear and the difficulty spike in the woods would D incentivize any novice players from exploding its use before playing through the game normally this was the very first blood-borne skip discovered and ignited the passion that fueled all the others let's segue away from a community of people who value efficiency of time over all else and go to those that have more time than they know how to use this next glitch involves leaving the ps4 running with a day one version of blood-borne active for over 12 hours or more at this point challenging one of the game's bosses would be strangely easier than before although this glitch is a bit obscure popular theory suggests that the route calls as a memory link that manipulates the random number generation of the game so that always returns the same value random number generation determines everything from item drops you receive to the attack selected to execute from a given bosses potential moveset since the generator will always return the same value in this state the boss will always use the same move over and over so if you're not the best of harrying don't worry you've got all day to figure it out to newcomers to the soul series this glitch was a godsend and game journalists love writing about how quote unquote broken blood-borne was I had never executed this exploit until I began recording for this video but now that I have saying it ruins the game is an understatement I'm glad this glitch is good and dead from self learned their lessons with Demon Souls and Dark Souls so the item duplication in blood-borne is extremely limited first it requires an unpatched version of the game and even then only supports items that can be stacked first empty the storage on your main character and then make an alternate character with an empty storage also place one pebble in the storage and then switch back to your main hunter then store one copy of whatever item you'd like to duplicate blood vials upgrade stones or cold blood are all good choices then go to the bath messenger shop and buy 99 pebbles so that they fill your inventory and are pushed into storage return to the storage box and find that those 99 pebbles became the stored item this works because the game confuses the storage values of the two character accounts although it can be done with any item pebbles are the cheapest thing that can be purchased and since you need to buy as many of these as possible well you get it this is the same type of glitch as the bottomless box glitch from Dark Souls 1 so if you heard of that one blood-borne item duplication should feel very familiar every Souls game has elemental damage enchantments that can be applied to weapons in Dark Souls certain blacksmiths can apply magic lightning or fire damage to weapons but in blood-borne these qualities are less permanent elemental damage and blood-borne comes simply from the gems that are socketed into the weapons so if you suck at a fire Jim and Ludwig holy blade its physical damage gets converted to fire and it's scaling gets converted to arcane but this becomes more complicated when you socket weapons that also serve as firearms elemental gems aren't supposed to have their damage applied to bullets but on an unpatched version of blood-borne if you had an arcane gem to the rifle spear both the weapon damage and firearm damage gets this buff meaning that bullets fired from a rifle spear become significantly more powerful than what's ever intended and a rifle spear with three powerful arcane gems is devastating check out iron pineapples video in description to see just how vicious this weapon was before the patch the hunters nightmare and the rest of the old hunters DLC is stored on the hard drive of every blood-borne player with the most recent patch regardless of whether or not they have purchased the DLC this is to make sure the game is able to render items from the DLC that potential invaders may bring to attack players with when they invade and a simplified future patches but only having one version of the game the only thing that prevents non DLC owners from accessing the DLC is lack of a key item the eye of a blood-drunk hunter this is nothing new all three Dark Souls games used this same DLC system as injecting the new content is as simple as adding the key item to these players games but when the old Hunter's DLC was first released there was a big problem with this system if a player who had not purchased the old Hunter's DLCs summoned a player into the hunters dream for help with gehrman or the moon presence the game would detect that there was a player present who had purchased the DLC and so it should award the key item to the host so for a short window players could gain access to the DLC for free simply by summoning a friend that had it forget item duplication forget the impact of an arcane rifle spear in online PvP this is the most dangerous and terrifying glitch to ever take place in blood-borne life cycle luckily this exploit was fairly low-key and many affected players may not have even known what took place after all most players probably purchased the DLC before attempting access it regardless if they had the key item or not from soft acted quickly and closed the blood-borne servers to correct the issue within a few days of the DLCs release but this glitch directly impacted sales if this exploit had been large-scale it could have had the potential to cancel future DLCs eliminate future Souls games and even shrink the size and capacity of fromsoft as a company most game devs operate on surprisingly narrow margins and this exploit definitely made those margins a little smaller scary stuff although a glitch that has the power to give players free paid content maybe with the most terrifying glitch and blood-borne it's certainly not the most fascinating or impactful in fact I've never heard of anything in any other game like the last glitch on this list and it's all thanks to most often forgotten content in blood-borne the chalice dungeons through the outstanding data mining or CUVs uli the witch insanity SK it was learned fairly early on that there are non accessible chalice dungeons that from soft used during blood-borne development to test enemies and mechanics but through the editing of save data zuly and santa learned that it was possible to force access into these dungeons to see the unreleased content while fascinating it wouldn't be nearly as impressive if it weren't for the ability to share chalice dungeons publicly through glyphs by creating a chalice dungeon using the glyph a RK hv2 vs it's possible to fight the great one beast an unreleased boss with fully functional a I don't think missing from the boss is a visual indicator for its projectiles so watch out for when it roars something invisible is headed your way if you enter sik gc3 sm is a glyph you can fight an early version of the moon presence in an unreleased arena that is eerily similar to the beach at the end of the fishing hamlet thanks to the glyphs zuly has shared from her personal hacked chalices it's possible for any player to access these unreleased bosses and challenge them on an official version of blood-borne and on the latest patch she and sannen desu ka able to reverse-engineer a system and exploit it to give every blood-borne player bonus content long after fromsoft moved their focus to Dark Souls 3 if that's not the most impressive exploit to come from blood-borne named a better one if you have an interest in the other unreleased content in blood-borne check the video description for links to the channels of zuly and Santa SK these two are pioneers on the subject and definitely deserve
