we're examining the baptism of the holy ghost the baptism of the holy ghost please pay close attention you know i have told you in this church that when we teach you doctrinal issues they are for two reasons number one for yourself and in case you may not need it now you may need it for somebody else so you've got to listen with the attention of learning to be able to teach somebody else matthew chapter 3 verse 11 i indeed baptize you with water unto repentance but he that cometh after me is mightier than i whose shoes are not worthy to bear he shall baptize you with the holy ghost and with fire look at acts chapter 1 verse 4 let's hear from jesus that was john speaking and being assembled together with them commanded them that they should not depart from jerusalem but wait for the promise of the father which saith he you have heard of me verse 5 for john truly baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the holy ghost not many days hands jesus if you observe doesn't include fire in what he said many times as believers there are therms you have heard and those terms are familiar in the church world but you have never found out whether they are in scripture sometimes you don't even know if that's what the scripture is saying for example you hear people popularly say i gave my life to christ or i have given my life to christ what do you mean when you hear the gospel you don't give your life to christ you are not the one giving christ is the one who is giving and you are receiving it looks so simple but you see if that fundamental issue is not well understood the moment you lose the meaning of salvation from that point it will affect everything that you think about it's god who gave god commended his love toward us in that while we were yet seen as christ died for us romans chapter 5 verse 8. you know the bible also tells us for god so loved the world that he gave he gave his only begotten son scripture tells us greater love has no man than this that a man should lay down his life for his friends so you never gave your life to christ christ gave his life to you we were called dead the book of ephesians chapter two verse one he says we were dead in scenes and trespasses and you have the quickened who we are dead in trespasses and sins next verse verse two wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air the spirit that now walketh in the children of these obedience then he quickened us together with christ so you couldn't have been the one giving every time jesus talked about salvation or the new birth or eternal life he always says receive i give unto them eternal life john 10 28 and 29 i give unto you eternal life and you shall never perish he is the one giving you are the one receiving make sure you coordinate your mouth with your heart especially with fundamental bible concepts like this one we're dealing with remember that god is not glorified by a sin consciousness because sometimes you hear believers say well i know i'm a poor sinner i'm a wretched sinner you know i i'm just a wretched sinner or sometimes you hear this contradiction i'm a sinner saved by grace i'm a sinner so you're still a sinner even though you are saved by grace you can be a sinner if you are saved and if you are a sinner you are not saved because if you are saved you are not a sinner and if you are not saved you are a sinner but you cannot be a sinner saved by grace when you are saved by grace you are righteous god is not glorified by a sin consciousness he is only glorified by a righteousness consciousness god gave you righteousness consciousness look at another term he now says he shall baptize you with fire with fire we want to look at the term fire but look at psalm 68 verse 1 for example let god arise let his enemies be scattered let them also that hit him flee before him a lot of church people like that verse because the moment you cut a verse like that they're already thinking of their boss they are thinking of their neighbor they are thinking of somebody that they think they perceive to be their enemy so when you cut a scripture like that they just you know they take off in fact if you ask people to pray for souls to be saved they pray with a very low voice but the moment you say you are enemies the everybody comes alive in the church world and the reason is because of this concept about enemies look at psalm 110 verse 1 the lord said unto my lord sit down at my right hand until i make thine enemies thy footstool let god arise and let his enemies be scattered now observe let god arise and let his enemies not my enemies let his enemies all right his own enemies not my own then observe that the bible there tells us sit on my right hand until i make your enemies god's enemies not your own his own enemies when you come to the epistles the word enemies changes location first corinthians 15 26 says the last enemy that shall be destroyed shall be dead the last enemy that shall be destroyed shall be dead what is referring to as enemies are spiritual things that's why jesus said love your enemies in matthew 5 45 and the enemies there are human beings he says love your enemies human beings all right so when the bible talks about enemies he is talking about spiritual things in ephesians 6 12 we ration not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers we're not wrestling against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers so you must realize when you read enemies in the old testament when you come to the epistles they may not necessarily be human beings so in your study of scriptures you need to find out what is he talking about go to hebrews chapter 12 verse 29 let's do some exigencies for our god is a consuming fire ah the church would like the scripture how many of you love to have a dad who is a consuming fire how many if you want to have a father your father is a consuming fire when you want to talk to your friends you say ah my father is a consuming fire if you look at his eyes fire is coming out nobody will be your friend nobody wants to have a father who is a consuming fire so what does the bible means by our god is a consuming fire when he says our god is a consuming fire he uses a term catalanisco k a t a l a n i s k o catalanisco in the greek it means to annihilate to annihilate something to make it not exist again our god is a consuming fire so the question is what does he not make to exist again what does he annihilate what does the consuming what is the consuming fire about does he consume human beings no because if god consumes human beings there will have been some in town that we will have seen that god consumed them so god does not consume human beings in the same hebrews chapter 12 where it says our god is a consuming fire you'll find out that he mentions fire once in hebrews chapter 12 verse 18 for you are not calm unto the mount that might be torched and that burned with fire now onto blackness and darkness and tempest observe the word fire in the scripture so the first thing it tells you is that you have not come to this fire you are not calm you have not come to this fire look at verse 19 to 21 of the same hebrews 12 and the sound of the trumpet and the voice of words which voice they that heard in treated that the word should not be spoken to them anymore for they could not endure that which was commanded and if so much as a beast touched the mountain it shall be stoned or thrust through with a dirt next verse and so terrible was the sight that moses said i exceedingly fear and quick the writer of hebrews brings us by that scripture he brings us to exodus 19 18-23 just write it down for story exodus 19 18-23 especially verse 19-23 and we are at mount sinai and he's saying you have not come to that mountain so in other words he is dealing with the old covenant you have not come to that mountain that is that the fire is this way you can't even come close it destroys anything that comes close to it realize he says you have not come to that fire it destroys human beings moses even said i am afraid he is not afraid out of reverence but he is afraid out of ham because what of what the fire does but in hebrews chapter 12 verse 22 he now says but you are calm unto mount zion and unto the city of the living god the heavenly jerusalem and to an innumerable company of the angels so he now says but you are come observe where he talked about fire he said you are not come when he talked about zion he says but you are calm to mount zion are you observing so you are not come to where there is fire but you are calm to mount zion which means he is making a contrast there he is making a contrast to what we have not come to and notice from verse 18 to 21 he doesn't mention god he mentions angels hebrews 12 18 to 21 he mentions angels but in the old testament at sinai they thought god was the one speaking but we have found out in hebrews chapter 2 verse 2 that mount sinai were angels in operation he says you have not come on to that mountain but you are calm unto mount zion in hebrews chapter 4 verse 16 hebrews let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we might obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need he says come boldly that's an invitation for salvation it's not for believers salvation unbelievers are to come boldly to the throne of grace look at hebrews chapter 10 verse 19 he also says come boldly have him there for brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of jesus so we have two different covenants being explained the old covenant and the new covenant and something happens in hebrews chapter 12 he says you are come to mount zion to the city of the living god hebrews 12 22-24 but you are calm unto mount zion unto the city of the living god the heavenly jerusalem and to an innumerable company of angels to the general assembly and church of the fest born which are written in heaven and to god the judge of all and to the spirits of just men made perfect 24 and to jesus the mediator of the new covenant and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things than that of the evil the blood of jesus means sins are forgiven the blood of jesus means sanctification the blood of jesus means perfected forever that's the meaning of the blood of sprinkling you are come to the blood of sprinkling means you are come to the forgiveness of sins you are calm to sanctification you have come to where you are perfected forever so he says you have not come to a mountain that brings down that condemns you have not come to a mountain that destroys you have come to god you have not come to angels you have come to god in other words god was not the one issuing threats at mount sinai you only come to god in christ you only come to god in christ you do not come to god through angels so he says you are calm to jesus the mediator of a new covenant the blood of sprinkling i'm not talking about ribena and bread or tasty time and bread that you know is poured upon church members no he is dealing with a contrast a contrast so as we study on you must stay with the contrast please don't forget we are dealing with a contrast so as we study on you must stay with the contrast look at that hebrews chapter 12 verse 25 see that you refuse not him that speaketh for if they escape not who refuse him that spoke on earth much more shall not we escape if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven now who is he that speaketh he says the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of abel so they're speaking that he said we should not refuse him that speaketh he's talking about not refusing the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than of abel who spoke on earth zion or sinai on earth sinai the one who speaks from heaven from heaven did they speak condemnation or salvation salvation the one that speaks in earth does this fix the condemnation of salvation condemnation hebrews chapter 2 verse 2 for if the word spoken by angels mount sinai was steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward next verse how shall we escape escape what angel spoke how shall we escape sinai if we neglect so great salvation which is zion we're dealing with contrast all right now hebrews chapter 8 verse 7 for if that first covenant had been faultless there shall no place have been sought for the second next verse for finding fault with them he saith behold the days come say of the lord when i will make a new covenant to the house of israel and with the house of judah not according to the covenant that i made with their fathers in the day when i took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of egypt because they continued not in my covenant and i regarded them not saith the lord so he speaks condemnation from sinai mount sinai finds fault it finds fault he says see to eat that you refuse not the blood of jesus say to it that you refuse not salvation see to it that you refuse not the gospel look at that hebrews 12 25 and 26 now see that you refuse not him that speaketh for if they escape not to refuse him that spoke on earth much more shall not we escape if we turn away from him that speaker from heaven 26 whose voice then shook the earth but now he had promised saying yet once more i shake not the earth only but also heaven 27 27 and this word yet once more signified the removing of those things that are shaking as of things that i made that those things which cannot be shaken may remain the word removing the removing then there is another word there the word shaking the word shaking is the word to overthrow to overthrow shaking the things that cannot be shaken so things that are shaking means to overthrow look at hebrews chapter 10 verse 9 is saying the same thing something similar then sayeth he lo i come to do thy will oh god he taketh away the first that he may establish the second he take it away the first the word taken is the greek word an arrow a n i r e o it means to kill to make sure it doesn't exist again so now he says he kills the first covenant he kills the first covenant he takes it away so that he may establish the second the word established is the word histomy in the greek his t-e-m-i histomy it means the law and the new covenant cannot coexist the two covenants cannot work hand in hand the law and the new covenant so he takes away the first he murders it he kills it he destroys it that he may establish the second because the first covenant is not his work the law is not god's work his work is the new covenant and we find out that the new covenant precedes the old testament the new covenant precedes the old testament god has only one covenant god does not have two covenants only one beginning from adam to us only one covenant god has had the second one which is the old covenant was a man's covenant it was not god's covenant so that's why he murders he kills he destroys the old covenant that he may establish the first covenant which is now the second by implication yeah which is now the second this is very important now so he says he takes away the first that he may establish the second he kills the first he murders it look at hebrews chapter 8 verse 10 for this is the covenant that i will make with the house of israel after those they say of the lord i will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts and i will be to them a god and they shall be to me a people next verse and they shall not teach every man his neighbor and every man his brother saying know the lord for all shall know me from the least to the greatest next verse i love verse 12 for i will be merciful to their unrighteousness and their sins and their iniquities will i remember no more now the word remember no more in the greek is the word mimnesco m-i-m-n-e it means i will not put it to mind i will remember no more means i will not put it to mind meme let's go it doesn't mean i won't see it but it means i will not take it too hard i will not take it to mind i will not refer to it in our discussion i will not refer to it i'm not going to use it to relate with them mimnesco i'm not going to use it to relate with them that's the new covenant because the new covenant reveals the true character of god the new covenant reveals the true character of god that's very important please pay attention the new covenant reveals the true character of god look at hebrews chapter 8 verse 13 in that he saith a new covenant he has made the first old now that which decayed and what set old is ready to vanish away the word old is the word obsolete is the greek word paleo p a l a i o o it means useless he makes it useless like hebrews 1 11 he makes it useless then there's another word there ready to vanish ready to vanish the word vanish in the greek is to obliterate that is he makes it not exist again he makes the first covenant not exist again so the only thing god murders or destroys is the law he murders and destroys the law he takes away the first that he may establish the second he takes away the first that he may establish the second so in the contrast of the old covenant and the new we have god giving out the old covenant to do a murder going out of the old covenant to do a murder in the death of his son he kills the law in the death of his son he deals with condemnation in the death of his son he sacrifices the law to nobody he renders the law absolute the word absolute is the word paleo it means out of use and you know many people are using absolute things today in so many churches the things that are no more of use the things about the old covenant is that it is still written that's the thing about it you will see read it but you are reading something that is obsolete it has no effect not because god made it have effect at all god is the one that made it not have effect again so god kills the old covenant destroys the old covenant that means he makes it useless with the death of jesus to put the lord side by side with the death of jesus and his sacrifice is an insult of the highest order to put the law side by side with the sacrificial work of christ is the highest dishonor ever what christ did was too perfect that the law cannot be brought to bear where the sacrifice of christ is because the work of jesus was surrendered the law useless someone said to me the old testament was given to balance the new testament that's a laugh that's a laugh right that the old testament was given to balance you know people like to balance balance it when they are telling you balance it what they are saying is bring works and use it to perfect what christ has done these people like to talk balance they are very dishonorable they do not have faith in what christ has done they do not believe that jesus did a perfect job they don't believe in it they don't believe because otherwise if they believe that what jesus did was perfect they won't be looking for balance because it is truth because it is balanced in itself jesus is the truth because jesus himself is balanced that's why jesus alone is enough jesus minus nothing in calls to everything jesus plus something equals to nothing jesus is a stand alone he is the truth he is not some of the truth he is the totality of truth so what he did was perfect complete balanced and totally whole in itself i have faith in the totality of what christ did somebody shout hallelujah so jesus makes the old testament useless by his death in hebrews chapter 12 he now says that there's a voice that will shake the things of the earth look at it again hebrews 12 26 please pay attention whose voice then shook the earth but now he had promised saying yet once more i shake not the earth only but also heaven next verse and this word yet once more signified the removing of those things that are shaken as of things that are made that those things which cannot be shaken may remain it will take away the things that are shaken what are the things that are shaking the law it will shake the law and take it away and what will remain will be the new covenant it will shake off the law and the new covenant will remain look at verse 28 glory to god wherefore we're receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved let us have grace whereby we may serve god acceptably with reverence and godly fear we may serve god whose kingdom cannot be moved how did he get the kingdom of course the kingdom of jesus how did he get the kingdom when he died and rose again and sat down at the right hand of majesty on high that's his kingdom and it is that resurrection that dealt with the law that's what dealt with condemnation and that's what dealt with sin we have received that kingdom today hallelujah look at verse 28 oh glory to god hebrews 12 28 wherefore we're receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved let us have grace let us have what grace that we may serve god acceptably with reverence and godly fear let us have grace then he mentions godly fear godly fear is not tormenting fear godly fear is reverence for god what's the reverence we have of god the reverence we have for god is that he has dealt with the law so we cannot practice the law we're not practicing the law it's a reference to god our reference is that he has dealt with condemnation so we will not tolerate condemnation that's our reverence he has given us the forgiveness of sins so we will not be peddling sins around that's our reverence for god he has given the sacrifice of sin forever now look at verse 29 for our god is a consuming fire what did he consume the law what did he consume the old covenant what did he consume he took away condemnation he takes away the dictates of the lord he is a consuming fire without understanding we remain grateful when we say our god is a consuming fire is a celebration of gratitude for what he has done in dealing with the law dealing with sin dealing with guilt dealing with condemnation and freeing us in his righteousness glory to god his fire is his love for us that consuming fire is god's love for us so when you read scriptures like that you have to patiently look at the context very well so when we see the consuming fire we see that consuming fire in the dead burial and resurrection of jesus whatever is not found please listen carefully and if you're making notes that's a good note to make whatever is not found in the death of jesus in his burial in his resurrection and ascension to the right hand of god can never be found in god whatever is not found in the death of jesus in his burial in his resurrection and ascension to the right hand of god can never be found in god to define god the father you will have to look at what he did in christ that's how to know god the father what he did in christ if you want to know him in the old testament prophet you will only know him in the promises they gave concerning christ by the spirit of christ you will only know god's character in the old testament in the promises that the prophets gave concerning christ by the spirit of christ you cannot know him by everything you read because the bible has a progression of the revelation of god as a progressive revelation where people over the ages gradually came to know god and some of them said things in their error about what god never was for example job another one the children of israel even adam also had some impressions of god that were not wrong so you can also have a wrong impression of god and it was written in the bible especially when it is not rightly divided even prophet isaiah said i am here to kill it and make it alive isaiah was wrong in that statement isaiah said i formed the light and i create darkness isaiah was wrong in that statement but why was it written so that you will see how they progressively came to know god you will see how they progressively you will see their errors their mistakes and you will see how they travel their way to the revelation of god those things were left for us so that we will see the supremacy of the revelation of christ are you enjoying yourselves because you ought to interpret the old testament in the light of christ you ought to interpret the old testament in the light of christ so when we say he is a consuming fire are we talking about his wrath or his love his love now go back to matthew 3 11 i indeed baptize you with water unto repentance but he that commit after me is mightier than i whose shoes i'm not worthy to be he shall baptize you with the holy ghost and with fire so john says he will baptize you with the holy ghost and with fire you know john was the last old testament prophet so he was a prophet of the old testament matthew chapter 3 verse 12 whose fan is in his hand and he will thoroughly pull his floor and gather his wheat into the ghana but he will burn off the chaff with unquenchable fire still john the baptist is speaking now look at mark mark chapter 1 verse 8. mark did not use fire i indeed have baptized you with water but he shall baptize you with the holy ghost so mark did not put fire matthew put fire luke 3 16 john answered saying unto them i indeed baptize you with water but one mightier than i commit the largest of whose shoes i'm not worried to or lose he shall baptize you with the holy ghost and with fire so we have four accounts two have fire two don't have fire john 1 33 does not have fire and i knew him not but he that sent me to baptize with water the same said unto me upon whom thou shall see the spirit descended and remaining on him the same is he which baptized it with the holy ghost which baptized it with the holy ghost which baptized it with the holy ghost so john doesn't have fire so we have four accounts fire in matthew and luke no fire in mark and john so let's hear jesus acts chapter one verse four and being assembled together with them commanded them that they should not depart from jerusalem but wait for the promise of the father which saith he you have heard of me next verse for john truly baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the holy ghost not many days hands jesus doesn't add the word fire just like jesus always did to the old testament text you know look up to me old testament text there was a time he didn't add some things that were added let's look at a few of those examples luke chapter 4 verse 17 and i was delivered unto him the book of the prophet isaiah so he read from isaiah and when he had opened the book he found the place where it was written so let's go back to isaiah before we come and read what jesus wrote isaiah 61 verse 1 and 2. the spirit of the lord god is upon me please pay attention because i'm going to ask you a question because the lord had anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of prison to them that are bound next verse to proclaim the acceptable year of the lord and the day of vengeance of our god to comfort all that man that's the prophecy of isaiah now we're going to see where jesus quoted that prophecy and you will see what jesus did luke chapter 4 verse 18 and 19. the spirit of the lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised next verse to preach the acceptable year of the lord did you observe jesus did something to the prophecy what did jesus do he took out the day of vengeance just like he took out fire okay because the day of vengeance is not jesus's ministry jesus ministry does not have vengeance so jesus left out some words of the prophets because they cannot be his own fulfillment all right look at john chapter 3 verse 17 john tells us clearly the mission of jesus god sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved so are we safe to exclude the word fire acts chapter 1 verse 5 for john truly baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the holy ghost not many days hence what do you mean by the term baptized with the holy ghost or the baptism with the holy ghost firstly we will notice that the term was prominent in the book of acts so the question is who wrote the book of acts the book of acts was written by luke brother luke look at luke chapter 1 verse 3 it seemed good to me also having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first to write on today in order most excellent your philos so luke wrote the book of luke to most excellent geophylos look at acts chapter 1 verse 1. the former tritis have i made ortiophilus of all that jesus began both to do and to teach in other words luke is saying to your philos this is a follow up to what i wrote to you before in the letter that i wrote as luke one was to show you the incarnation the order to show you after resurrection the essence of the after resurrection of jesus now pay attention to this we examine how the disciples got saved and we concluded that the god saved in luke 24 from 25 to 27 all full slow over to believe all that the prophets have spoken ought not christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory and beginning at moses and all the prophets he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself now put up verse 44 for me and he said unto them these are the words which i spoke unto you while i was here with you and all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of moses and in the prophets and in the psalms concerning me then openly their understanding that they might understand the scriptures 46 and said unto them those it is written and thus it behoove christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the thought day 47 and the repentance and remission of sin shall be preached in his name among all nations beginning at jerusalem 48 and you are witnesses of these things 49 and behold i sent the promise of my father upon you but tarry ye in the city of jerusalem until you be endured with power from on high now luke 24 49 and acts chapter 1 verse 4 and 5. is it the same thing huh yes all right luke 24 49 endured the word endured is the greek word endo which means to put on something it's often used for a rope to put on something and though will be what people will see you shall be clothed upon or better you shall put on endured look at that luke 24 49 and behold i send the promise of my father upon you behold the word behold means see i send see i will send i will send the word apostello to imply something he has done or something he was doing it wasn't a future tense so he says wait in jerusalem where in jerusalem means settle down kill settle down till there's an adverb there something they will do settle down till now settle down teal tari in jerusalem teal adverb the word heals h-e-o-s in the greek as far as in other words their responsibility will be theirs you will be endued with power from on high they were going to play a role similar to acts chapter 1 verse 8. they were going to play a role okay and dude you shall power you shall receive meaning they will play a role they have a part to play acts 1 8 you shall receive power after that the holy ghost is come upon you luke 24 49 and behold see i send the promise of my father on you on you on you they are both saying you will be close with power from on high when you hear from on high don't look up is the greek word hoop souls hoop souls h-u-p-s-o-s hube souls it refers to jesus ascension similar word used in luke 178 through the tender mercy of our god whereby the dead spring from on high had visited us hope souls he is not talking about a distance he is talking about a walk accomplished by jesus he's not dealing with a distance just like you have ephesians chapter 4 verse 8 he that descended the sea that ascended up on high on high is a finished walk it's not a distance ephesians 3 18 that you may know the height of his love he's not talking about a distance he's talking about a finished walk james 1 9 let the brother of lord degree rejoice in that he is exalted exalted so the word hoop source means exalted so who is exalted jesus and we are aware we are in him we are in him exalted so when he says you shall receive power from on high was the power coming or was the power available the power was available the power was not traveling down the power was available so there was no need for holy ghost fire fire follow me you know when i used to sing it back then i used to sing it as fire follow me it took me time to now know that it is following me there man fall from where from where is it going to fall from where from on high so we are waiting for something to fall from the sky because we are putting our interpretation into the scripture now so the power was available because jesus work was accomplished so because the work was finished the power was available was jesus exalted at this point in acts 1 8 was jesus exalted yes okay so was jesus power available yes so is he saying in my exaltation there is power yes so you shall receive power acts 1 8 you shall be clothed with power luke 24 49 which will be their responsibility listen the truth is that they are the ones to determine the experience because the power was not a function of what jesus will do the power was a function of them receiving because the power was already available and the power is from on high and we know what he told them before he died he told them i go to my father to prepare a place for you and if i prepare i will come back and receive you to myself that where i am you may be also so he has gone he has come he has received them to himself at the time he was telling them you shall receive power in acts 1 8 he has been exalted the work has been finished and of course where he is the where he was at the right hand of the father they were at the right hand of the father so they were just to take are we together he was not going to send them power from somewhere they were already together so the moment they believed the gospel where they also seated on high yes so it's not power coming from somewhere the power was where they were it was where they were so you shall receive power after that the holy ghost is come upon you let me explain what it means to come on you to come on you what it means to come on you the word to come on you doesn't mean on your head it simply means an experience an experience it is a greek word a pest command a p e s c h o m a i a best comment referring to an experience look at luke chapter 1 verse 35 and the angel answered and said unto her the holy ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the son of god the holy ghost shall come on you obviously what he's talking about was inside her is that true it was already inside her come on does it mean on your head come on is talking about an experience look at acts 8 24 then answered simeon and said pray to the lord for me that none of these things which have spoken come upon me it doesn't mean to fall upon his head he's talking about an experience is that true look at acts 13 40. beware therefore lest that come upon you which is spoken of in the prophets he's talking about an experience you will also see it in acts 14 verse 9. the same had paul speak who steadfastly behold in him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed it means to happen to you to come upon to happen to you it refers to a happening something that is an experience you can write this for further study luke 11 22 luke 21 26 and 35. luke 11 22 luke 21 26 and 35 so it refers to an experience come on in other words they were going to determine that experience see he said behold i send the promise of my father on you what is behold see it if it's not there he won't ask you to see it behold that is see it it's already here i send the promise of my father on you okay behold so if it was not available he would not use the word behold in other words what they were going to do was to learn about what he has just said i send the promise of my father on you so it will be their own act of faith their act of faith that's why if you combine luke 24 49 and acts 1 8 you will understand it he says you shall receive the word receive is an active word is the word lambanu it means to take when you use the word lambanu it doesn't mean i offer you something then you find it in your pocket lombano actually means something has been provided you take from it you are the one to take the responsibility of taking is yours the provision has been made that's why people who say i want to receive the holy ghost and speak in tongues who close their bowel and wait for heaven to open it they go home empty because you have to take you have a path to play the responsibility is yours so lombano means something has been provided you take from it so let's use the word take from or take off in acts 1 8 you shall take from or you shall take of power does it not make sense you shall take from or you shall take off power you are the one to take okay after the holy ghost is come upon you has he sent the holy ghost yet yes behold see i send the promise of the father see i send it see i sent it you shall now take off because i have sent it luke 24 49 see i sent acts 1 8 you shall take from what i have sent then it says you shall receive receive from where the holy ghost you shall receive so where is the holy ghost in everyone that has believed the gospel the holy ghost is inside everyone that has received the gospel so you shall receive power from who from the holy ghost where is the holy ghost inside so you shall take off or you shall take from are we in the building it's not coming from the sky it's already inside you shall take off or you shall take from in other words you will exercise or you will take of the holy ghost so when you are born again the holy ghost lives in the heart of everyone who is born again he lives inside he lives inside everyone that has believed the gospel so what you will call the baptism of the holy ghost is a man receiving from or a man taking off the spirit inside when he said you will receive power the question is what power remember he said you shall be witnesses is the greek word material m-a-r-t-e-u-r-e-o it means a speaking evidence you shall be a speaking evidence you shall receive power after that the holy ghost has come upon you you shall be a speaking evidence witnesses material the same thing in luke 24 48 you are witnesses of these things you are a speaking evidence of these things because he had told them in luke 24 47 that they will be witnesses so the power is referring to here is the power of utterance acts 1 8 you shall receive the power of ultrons that is why the receiving has to be theirs they are the ones to receive the power of utterance acts 1 8 now acts chapter 2 verse 1 to 4 pay attention and when the day of pentecost was fully come they were all with one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting and they appeared unto them clothing tongues like us of fire and he sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the holy ghost and they began they began it's not the holy ghost that spoke and they began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance question what did the spirit give them utterance another time used is filled with the holy ghost speaking filled with the holy ghost speaking the word field is the greek word plato p-l-e-t-h-o plato p-l-e-t-h-o used for furnishing somewhere to furnish it or you can have the word inspired so when i say filled in normal language i mean feel the cop but that's not what he means in this context it means to be inspired by because you will see it used for different emotions field for example look at acts 3 10 and they knew that it was he which sat for arms at the beautiful temple gate of the temple and they were filled with wonder and amazement and that which had happened unto him they were filled with wonder and amazement different emotions okay acts 5 17 then the high priest rose up with all day that were with him which is the sect of the sadducees and we are filled with indignation how do you know if somebody is filled with indignation he will say something how do you know if somebody is filled with anger he will express it by saying something how do you know if somebody is filled with wonder he will express it by saying something how do you know if somebody is filled with the holy ghost he will say are we here he will say all right acts 13 45 but when jesus saw the multitudes they were filled with envy and speak against those things which are spoken by paul contradicting and blaspheming so whether filled with indignation or anger something will be said so you always know that someone is filled by what he says let's look at luke 141 and it came to pass that when elizabeth had the salutation of mary the babe lived in her womb and elizabeth was filled with the holy ghost next verse and she speak out with a loud voice she was filled with the holy ghost and what was the activity she speak out so when you are filled with the holy ghost what happens next you speak out does every believer have the holy ghost inside so it is automatic that a believer is always filled with the holy ghost but how do we know he speaks out he speaks out all right when you're filled you speak out look at luke 167 and his father zacharias was filled with the holy ghost and prophesied saying out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks it will come out because it's already inside so when you see the term field it means to speak speak by the holy ghost question as a roundup who determines to be filled the holy ghost or the speaker so he's a speaker that determines to be filled so being filled is a vocal expression vocal being filled is a vocal expression being filled is not inactive being filled is active by what you say being filled is active by what you say remember acts 1 8 and luke 24 49 you shall receive you shall be clothed they are saying the same thing the baptism of the holy ghost how do you receive by speaking how are you clothed by speaking how are you filled by speaking you speak that's how to be filled you speak with the holy ghost glory to god and they were all filled and they began to speak they began to speak hallelujah san diego doesn't love god for you bro if you're watching on television you are
