all right Eric this week we're going to cover something very important for people who actually clicked on this and wanted to listen to it I'm going to assume you either kept getting asked what you want for Christmas or you kept asking a Warhammer player of some variety what they wanted for Christmas and they wouldn't tell you we're going to try to solve an unsolvable question which is what the hell do you get a war gamer for Christmas yeah and we're gonna do it by saying not models unless they're asked specifically for it yes we don't really want to add to people's piles of Shame for Christmas this year if we're trying to avoid new models it can be rough to figure out what to get people uh luckily this is a hobby and there's a lot of things involved in building painting presenting your models and even just playing the game as well there's all kinds of stuff that we can spend money on and in a lot of ways I think these things are going to be better presents than just buying someone new models because these are the things that while we willingly toss away 50 to 80 on a box of plastic to put together we sometimes don't treat ourselves to nice new tools no sometimes that uh model cutter is 18 years old and chipped but damn it you're not gonna spend money on a new one for yourself that would be less plastic you could buy exactly all right so we're going to break this into sections here uh we'll do low budget mid-budget and high budget what those mean is up to us I'm going to say low budget is things that you can get for like 30 or less if you're getting something for like your in-law you don't talk to too often and you're here for ideas I was just kind of thinking that same thing of like these are these categories are for uh how much you like the person I kind of have to do it so here you go yeah okay I do like you here's here's gifts and oh you're like my significant other yeah so yeah we'll we'll do low budget is like under thirty dollars nice easy presents your mid budget is going up to like the 75 dollar budget and then High budget is like 80 plus dollars so these are things you're only getting if you really know someone yeah or maybe you're like a group is coming together and being like oh we're gonna get this person that thing yeah it's like six or seven of us so I guess we can start with modeling supplies the basics that everybody's gonna want and need but probably won't buy multiples or replace themselves and before we get any further we've got examples of all this stuff in the show notes or in the description below if you're on YouTube and yeah we're not getting any kickbacks from this they're all just like generic Amazon links some from like the actual websites or whatever you don't have to go to the specific website or that Amazon like if you have like a local hobby store you might be able to get it there like whatever just these are examples it was easy to find them on Amazon and we're also not sponsored by any of the examples we give on this episode we we don't have sponsors uh so if we mention a brand name it's not us specifically sponsored by that brand we're just talking about that brand because it's something that I own or whatever and since we're not sponsored by any of these we're not getting Kickbacks but you can support us on patreon patreon.com Singleton if you're interested you know send us a bit of money help out the show that'd be great yeah putting these episodes together is not free on our end by the way so it would be helpful but enough of that let's start this list I guess we can start in the low budget like you said this is stuff that's 30 or less ish not exact because you know everything's got different prices to a certain point but we can start off with the modeling supplies so these are things like the model Clippers or Cutters yeah so you could do stuff like getting someone a pile of green stuff and some sculpting tools for it for their next big project yeah which green stuff is always useful even if you don't really know I'm terrible at that but I have some and I wouldn't say successfully used it but I have used it so you've successfully used it maybe oryx is coming up we'll we'll get some real use out of it there's also you're a big fan of the reverse grip tweezers I know that you actually found one that you have right uh yes I have a couple of them now actually though I I like these a lot I didn't realize how much I would like them until I used a pair they help a lot when you're trying to do tiny little things with giant gorilla hands uh even if someone hasn't asked for these they're a really cheap pickup and it's something where they'll be very thankful for it once they start using them then there's also stuff like if someone's newer to the Hobby they may not have a bunch of basic supplies like a pin Vise to drill stuff out or a really nice scraping Tool uh I'm not talking like that GW one with like the blunt Edge thing yeah I in the show notes linked the one that I use which is amazing at it's like I want to say it's like a scalpel but if you rub it on your palm you won't cut yourself open but it will have an equivalent ability to like slice off mold lines and a smooth over rough spots and a model stuff like that it is is actually pretty useful compared to taking like an exacto knife you're gonna carve things up and it's yeah it is actually pretty nice but you know speaking of knives and stuff it's a good idea to have one of those hobby cutting mats so it's just a thing that you put on so you don't cut through the desk that you're using pretty nice they come in different sizes and not too expensive yeah and everything in this modeling section you could like double up and get two or three things because a lot of them are like five to ten dollars tops uh or you can just you know do it if you're doing a stocking stuffer for a nerd yeah though these are the kind of things that would make great stocking stuffers speaking of stocking stuffers we've got dice pack so chess X makes cheap Dice and you can get them five bucks for a pack or whatever they're not the best but that's okay they're decent and it's always you need you need a lot of dice especially when when you're playing these types of things and it's fun to just roll dice yeah and you could make this same present be like a more meaningful high-end present if you wanted you can get really nice dice oh yeah yeah I mean there's some really custom looking dice out there that are really nice so yeah you can spend as much as you want on that kind of thing but and then while we're talking about playing the game you could also get someone a dice tray so they're not rolling on the table like a filthy animal I hate watching the YouTube videos when people are rolling dice on the table and it hits a model it's like oh God no no stop it get just get it right they're like 20 bucks maybe yeah the the one that we put into the show notes Here is a 22 dollar tray on Amazon and it looks totally fine I'd like it yeah yeah so it's it's crazy and when we're playing the game we need to keep track of score secondary objective is all that kind of stuff so having a nice notebook that you can refill with paper they're classy looking when you're trying to go out and uh you know show off it's also just a nice present where if you're trying not to like make someone feel overly nerdy when other people are getting like golf clubs for Christmas and stuff a nice leather bound notebook is going to be super useful to a war gamer and at the same time it's just going to look like a nice personal present yeah absolutely that is spot on but then we could get into the painting side of things at the low budget if you know that the person you're buying stuff for is big into the painting part of the hobby you could start things off with just a nice wet palette I stole the exact example that we put in the show notes here off of a video from Vince venturello because he forced me to buy it by advertising it in his video it's the Exemplar and I just bought one and I love it there's several wet palettes that are really good I know red grass makes a good one stuff like that they can be 20 to 35 dollars area yeah and when you're trying to paint models that are small it's nice to have something that you can like grip and put the model on and like rotate it around and stuff so there's painting handle I guess is what we would call it but yeah they're painting handles it's what everyone calls them Eric five hours ago did not realize that was the name for this object it doesn't seem right it is a handle used for painting no but that's like a roller like you the handle attaches to a roller that you paint walls with like laughs not miniature I don't know dude but there's an image on YouTube or in the show notes that's what it is actually pretty useful thing yeah I would say stay away from like games workshops brand of these they're kind of bad and pretty expensive for what they are yeah the version I put in the show notes is by Red grass games and I know their handle is pretty good there's also speaking of problems with Games Workshop oh yeah if the hobbyist you are trying to buy stuff for is like most of us and bought GW pots of paint and complains about spilling their null oil and all that stuff uh you could be a good person and get them a small project for Christmas you could buy storage bottles like dropper bottles with a little paint mixer and ball bearing so they could decant their paints into dropper bottles from those awful GW pots that should be illegal to sell those things are honestly the worst and and everybody agrees that they're awful they're so prone to spilling and they're not useful to like they're custom designed to be the most wasteful way to store paint and legally sell it somehow yeah basically and yeah we've got some links to some decent dropper bottles that can you know they can move the paint to but when you do that having the ball bearings in it to mix the paint around is actually pretty nice so and the paint mixer itself is used to make the paint easy to remove from the pot so you can pour it into the dropper bottle you keep saying paint mixer when clearly the show notes say immersion blender I don't know man it is that was the first thing I thought of as a merger blender but the word was pink mixer unlike Eric I adapted nope I refuse to adapt all right so then if they're the type to enjoy painting you can also give them like a painting Smock like an apron type thing yeah and you can also do similar thing with like the notebook of like it doesn't have to be nerdy and like paint oriented you could get like yeah just like a nice denim woodworking type thing or something you know like if there's other hobby things that they are interested in you can kind of customize it there's a lot of aprons out there because most Hobbies kind of messy yeah and then uh if they like displaying and like showing off their photos like if you're on Facebook and they're always sharing their stuff or their Twitter is full of them sharing pictures of their models you get them one of those nice electric turntables so they can do like the 360 smooth spin of the model yeah those Glamor Shots yeah those Glamor Shots are cool as hell to see on people's Twitter and stuff and one of those turntables is like 20 30 bucks which I thought they were so much more so that's the end of what we've got in the low budget let's move things up to Mid budget so we're looking at like 30 to 75 bucks you're looking to spend here all right I guess we can start with something that's pretty wild compared to the rest of the stuff this one's out there but honestly it's pretty useful for anybody an audible subscription you can actually gift them it starts at 15 a month goes to 150 for a year you can do one month three month six month year and this is not actually an audible sponsorship no no we're not that cool we just both have Audible subscriptions and use them regularly yeah but audible's nice because like if they're into Warhammer like most of our audience is going to be there is loads of good lore stuff and to be honest there's just a lot of good stuff on Audible in general it's a really nice way to have a hobby agnostic present where you know it's just generic but they can use it for their hobby right yeah it's similar on brand to like the notebook being something that's like it's not super nerd related you can kind of get away with it for just general usage but we can get into some more nerd related things and you can have some branded merch for whatever they're like if they're always saying like oh I was watching tabletop tactics Eric is just making fun of me at this point I am I I watch a lot of tabletop tactics yeah I have a subscription to them yeah you could do you could do Brandon merch and this is where you could like up upgrade the dice thing of like instead of getting them generic dice you get them diced that's from whatever they're a fan of whether it's like GW branded dice if they're into that or whoever is like a big show they watch on YouTube or something if they're big into watching hobby stuff on YouTube yeah and I mean most of the larger YouTube and creators and stuff like that have some type of merge or team up with someone to make it exactly so there should be some interesting stuff there but we can move on from from that to back into some more of the paint stuff so moving on from that type of stuff we can go back into the paint brushes there are cheap brushes out there and most hobbyists start with cheap brushes some would say we stay on cheap brushes for far too long yeah and and a lot of us don't want to spend the money on it because we don't know that like a nice brush is actually worth it so a nice gift gift to give to somebody is a pair of just nice brushes or a nice brush set and this can go from anywhere from like twenty dollars for a nice brush to like a hundred dollars for a set of nice brushes we've got a couple examples but this is the kind of thing that like if they're really into the painting it's possible that they haven't tried any of these nice brushes and even if they have nobody's gonna say no and be disappointed by getting another nice brush yeah I'm not gonna turn around a kolinsky sable yeah and I'm not going to turn around like my wife got me my artist Opus uh dry brushes that I use for all of my like really serious dry brushing when I want to get like a really nice dry brush out that's what I use yeah and like even if you had one or two of them you're not gonna say no to another like that's still just that's awesome so brushes nice brushes there's a couple links for example we could also point out that paint is never going to be something someone turns down yeah there's a lot of things you could do if you know the person a little more for this present uh say they're looking at trying a new effect paint like right now there's that dirty down rust effect that like everyone made a video about in the last three months I know it was enough to make me want to go out and buy it so like if they were talking about that you could get them a bottle of that to try out maybe you want to get them some color shift paints if they want to try something funky on an upcoming project dude those are so cool they are it's part of how my thousand Sons is put together and I didn't think I was gonna go that route when I made my thousand Sons my wife just happened to have those and I decided to use them and it looked amazing yeah uh you could go with like just one of those collection sets of a new brand you know they don't have like Pearl curl makes a set for well they make a lot of different sets for their brand uh Vallejo has a ton of sets like if you wanted to get like a Vallejo metal color intro set like the best metal colors I've ever used in my life or let's say like they're looking at trying out oil painting for like they watched a video and saw that they could do cool oil stuff for an upgrade over null oil and stuff but they don't really want to pull the trigger and try it get them an intro set to that there's all sorts of things you could do painting wise here and it's the type of thing where like even if it's not something I plan to purchase for myself if someone is like hey I got you this painting set I know you don't own I'm gonna be thrilled and want to try it out yeah but at the same time like if you're not sure what they have and you're not sure about paint we've got all these other options don't worry about it but like if you're able to like go down into their little hobby section and be like oh there they don't have any of this color shift stuff well then a side of that would be cool and I mean you can spend some of it's like 30 bucks you could spend well over 100 if you want to go from Big sets yeah as much as you and if they already have a bunch of paint and you see it laying all over their desk or shoved into drawers boxes everywhere on the floor in the beds in the beds uh if any of that has been something you've seen from this person before uh a nice thing to get them would be paint storage we recently got a bunch of uh nail polish racks to put in my brother's basement on the wall so we can put all of the paints along his wall it's so nice when you're trying to get a new paint it and it actually looks pretty cool like just seeing like all the paints out and Visually it's it's just really cool yeah so something like that could be really good if you know it's something their hobby space needs yeah and there's some that you can like put on the wall there's other ones that like sit on a desk one of the things that I can personally attest to that I am thrilled that I made the purchase is a small cheap ish airbrush I mean it's cheap this is this is as cheap as you can try this that's fair but like we're still on the medium yeah like we're not we're not nothing but yeah this is one of the cheaper options to getting into airbrushing so this is the yfu Foo portable airbrush or something like that I don't know there's a link in the show notes and it's not the best by any stretch of the imagination but it's good and the compressor that it hooks up to is solid it does its job well it's not loud which is actually really nice like if you get just a generic air compressor that shit's loud yeah especially cheap air compressors are normally so loud yeah you're gonna get some noise complaints but like this one's more portable it's small all it's the it's actually really nice and I'm probably going to be upgrading the actual airbrush itself but it works well enough that I'm happy personally to have bought it and gotten experience with it it's probably my advice for anyone looking to try airbrushing on the cheap like before you're ready to fully jump in it's a 70 purchase on Amazon it's not a great quality actual airbrush itself you'll want to upgrade that over time but it's good enough to learn on and you'll destroy your first airbrush because you'll be an animal with it and you won't learn how to properly take care of it right away so it's good to use a cheap one first just like with normal brushes and I mean I'm expecting like even in the future it'll be nice to have a cheap airbrush that I can I'm gonna do a dumb little thing I know this is dumb but I don't want to ruin my nice airbrush so it'll be nice to have as a backup and it's worth noting like the whole package because it's so small you live in an apartment yep and you are able to airbrush using this thing yeah it's not really a problem and I know that's something a lot of people are afraid of when they don't own an airbrush they're like oh God I need like a whole setup like a clean room so I can airbrush and that's BS if even if someone lives in an apartment this is a fine thing to get them and it's something they're probably too afraid to get themselves because they're afraid they're gonna need one of those clean rooms or something yeah get them this have them try it and have them realize how easy it is and how long they've been missing out on airbrushing like I said this is one that I can personally attest to having sold me on airbrushing so big fan of that one and for people who live in apartments and work in a dank cave instead of an well-lit area which is more of us than we want to talk about I feel like the vast majority of us fall in this category you could get hobby lighting I know a much larger Channel than us midwinter minis just did some video I haven't seen yet but I know is on YouTube right now all about Hobby lighting uh I have one that I like using that's like 50-ish bucks on Amazon that's a nice hobby light where you have a nice bright LED light that you can change the temperature on and everything and it's got a big magnifying glass in the middle which you laugh at at first until you're trying to do an edge highlight on a tiny tiny little area and you're like wow this is really useful yeah yeah it actually is pretty nice to have hobby lighting especially if it's on like a an arm that you can move around and like get the light in the positions that you want that are nice for your painting position so you're not like hunched over like a lamp yeah which is how I usually do things because I don't have one of these lights yet another thing that I'm pretty sure I'm getting for Christmas is a wow stick drill which is an upgrade to having a normal pin Vise I was like how are you gonna tell this one like a wow stick drill yeah that thing obviously that thing it's like the painting handle it's a specific it is a specific hand drill thing that I think Ninja on actually used originally but I saw it in a Vince venturella video where he was talking about how he got sold on it and as someone else who has shaky old man hands and doesn't like using a pin Vise that much uh this is going to be a big upgrade if I do end up getting one uh but these are again it's just like a pin Vice but it's electronic so you can just push a little button like it's a pen and on the side you can push a button and it'll spin the drill for you but it's also not like a Home Depot drill that like weighs five pounds and is gonna rip apart the model yeah it is the size of a pen yeah so it's not gonna like over torque and just like light your model on fire so that's enough of the the hobby side we've got some gameplay stuff in this medium budget territory terrain is a big deal it actually is useful in gaming and making it nice looking is a big step up from using the your mom's baking tins and stuff like that that we did hey we loved using my mom's baking tins that was an amazing terrain this is where poor Hammer comes from damn it yeah our Our Roots are there but uh upgrading to some nice actual terrain that you can paint or is already painted it's really nice yeah we toss in the show notes two different examples I own one of these uh which is the rampart terrain that's what we use as a alternative to the GW train that's way too expensive uh we also have GW terrain because we are down um yeah I mean it is nice but it's kind of expensive it's still a lot cheaper than GW stuff you get a lot more out of a 60 box that's true uh alternatively there is the more expensive option this is for like if someone is super against painting and you want to get them some finished terrain you can go with something like War World gaming makes like pre-painted terrain uh which is very nice like it looks good the price is very it's competitive for what you're getting yeah it's hard to say like it's a good price when you look at the prices on it but when you remember like someone painted this you didn't have to yeah I would go with something like that if you wanted to go with like a just be done with it approach yeah and that company also has other like it's not just like one set of terrain like they've got like options kind of thing but you can spend a lot of money entering don't go overboard be careful you'll find a lot of people especially when they're newer have no problem with stomaching paying sixty dollars for a new you know box of plastic toys to build up and play with but then they'll barf at the thought of you know getting nice terrain to play their games on and it's something our group did originally where we kept on using like bad terrain because we didn't want to spend money on the terrain and then we finally upgraded having like nice terrain that I just finished painting for us and it looks so much better and it's so much more fun when you're playing and you're looking at the battlefield like my cool painted dudes have all this cool painted terrain around them that fits the aesthetic and you're like wow why didn't we do this a year ago I am pretty excited for going back into a crusade like narrative kind of play because previously those those baking tins kind of ruined the immersion a little bit but this next one to round out the mid-tier budget is weird but measuring tapes are very very useful in this hobby buying somebody a measuring tape is kinda weird as a present so you could get them an actual like customized measuring tape I guess you have to accept going on to Etsy and there might be a bit of a time lag so yeah this wouldn't be the best for a last second guess but it's a great one to put down for next year back pocket you can do other stuff too like it's not just like a custom measuring tape where you like you know put their name on it or a funny joke of like hey you only have to roll two sixes stuff like that uh you could also do like customize a dice tray for them on Etsy I'm sure Etsy probably does custom dice you could get like oh your name or like you know a little image of something they like on it all of that stuff where if you want to do gaming supplies for them but more customized for them you pay more for it obviously there's usually a time lag because it's someone making it but it can be a really thoughtful meaningful gift they like long term yeah so that rounds out our mid budget so we're gonna move into the high budget these are things that you're gonna spend some money on and it's not like you're expected it to be like a significant other or like a group effort or something like that yeah this is this is stuff like I'm getting Eric not stuff that I'm getting random person that I see you know at Christmas right yeah so starting off about eighty dollars can get you an ultrasonic cleaner these are actually kind of useful especially if you know that the person buys models off of eBay or something like that so that they're already pre-assembled and painted as like oh you know randomly talking about that kind of thing an ultrasonic cleaner will be useful yeah and this is one that Eric got me last year and our group has used constantly like if you buy stuff off eBay and you need to pour some simple green or whatever else in there toss the ultrasonic cleaner on for a bit and then you just scrub it off and you can get all the paint off the model that's amazing for when you have to do anything like that it's also good for if you have an airbrush and you want to like deep clean it using it like the proper way they were meant to be used to clean medical stuff actually works really well yeah yeah yeah it's it's actually kind of interesting because like that Ultrasonic Cleaner is like a medical like it's supposed to be for like medical stuff and it looks super like serious yeah it's it has this like important no-nonsense look to it and then we're putting plastic little toys in it yeah it's hilarious alternatively you can get them game mats to play on which is another great one where even if you already own one game mat having a different you know like we've got one that's grassy we've got one that's a winter themed mat like it's nice to have a couple mats to play with especially if they're into more narrative gameplay but yes uh Frontline gaming obviously is where most people get their mats you can get all sorts for whatever game size you end up using the most so if you're interested in buying something for somebody that has a lot of paint already take a look at Vortex mixers these are very convenient for making sure that your paint is not separated because you haven't touched it in three years or ten years or however long since they've been collecting a basement full of paint I haven't used one for like my purse personal painting I've only used them in a local store that has one for testing out paints they're really cool I just have never been able to argue the budget myself for myself but it's definitely something where like if you're looking for something for you know your significant other there you go I am sure that anyone would be happy to get this and to stop shaking like an animal to get that GW pot to work yeah there's a couple links I think the lab genius mini Vortex mixer is pretty standard but there's some more scientific oriented ones that are no-nonsense and that I think the one that is from scientific laboratory that we've linked is one that you actually used in one of the stores or whatever so like yeah that's the local store has that one in it so right and these are like 80 to 120 so not too bad yeah there's still a lot more than you're probably going to spend on people right if they already have an airbrush there is a couple things you could do for them number one would be get them like a fume hood for their airbrush which is nice they're not like super necessary but it is really nice for like keeping a clean work area and everything especially if you're in a colder place because like sometimes you don't want the paint kind of just like lingering around and you can't go outside to do it because it's cold yeah so a few muds are nice they're about 100 bucks uh at least for the the better ones you can also take a look at getting a really nice airbrush so Brad you've got a pretty nice airbrush yeah I use an ayawada eclipse um you can go way higher than that too there's like 400 airbrushes but let's not get into that one yeah that would be a bit much an eclipse will run you anywhere from like 140 to 170 dollars uh this is more for someone who you know airbrushes but has been using like their intro airbrush that's been beat to crap over the last year yeah if they've been kind of complaining about their airbrush like oh it you know doesn't do this or it's you know it's getting old and stuff like that yeah this would be an amazing present for someone who doesn't have one because we went from having like a 60 Neo is what I started with to I bought this one and oh my God is it noticeable the first time you use it like yeah I have put so much work into this thing and it's going like a champ compared to that old Neo on the same vein you can look at giving them a nice quiet compressor so like we said earlier some compressors the cheaper ones sound like a 747 trying to take off like they're insane it's it's I I don't understand how they can make that much noise doing what they're doing but there are nice ones like there's 150-ish dollars for a couple of them that we put in the link and I haven't used them personally but from what it's been told they're good and not very loud and they're somewhere around 50 DB so you'll you'll hear it but it's not overwhelming yeah and that's exactly the line I would look for if you're searching for like a quiet compressor like say they're annoying you constantly by having a loud ass air compressor uh 50 decibels tends to be the line where under that is considered really quiet yeah another thing you could do do is get them something to display their models in if they're constantly painting stuff and they're just kind of throwing it on a random shelf you can get like a really nice like glass display cabinet at Ikea stuff like that and these are like we're talking about presents for like someone where you know what they're going to want but these are just more reminders at this tier of presence rather than you've no idea what a person wants it's more like hey have they complained about this this year yeah yeah this is definitely one of those like you should probably talk with them and make sure that they're okay with that whatever it is into some type of bookshelf uh an Ikea display cabinet you know so that it fits into their environment correctly but it does look nice when you're able to have a nice display area another useful tool and this is for basically any hobby that's Hands-On is a Dremel yes this is a great generator Eric one yeah and honestly dremels are just useful like even just away from hobbying you'll find uses for a Dremel I actually bought the one that's in my basement for my wife for her cosplay hobby yeah and the thing it gets used for most is uh cleaning up the dog's uh disgusting Talons uh yeah the detailing the dog's nails get insane and he does not like having his nose or his nails clipped so we use the Dremel on his paws and he likes that better yeah and and that's the thing is like the Dremel is useful in hobbying yeah but it's just it's useful everywhere a good useful tool to have access to and they're like they're only like 150 for like an actual Dremel with stuff you know attachments on it and stuff like that which I thought they were a lot more than that but not a bad gift no that's a really good generalist gift if they don't have one yeah and it's like a last hobby one that's pretty big this isn't gonna be cheap it would be something like a 3D printer yeah if they've been in the hobby for a bit and they've been eyeing up a 3D printer you can pretty safely get them like an any cubic Photon model or an elegoo those are very cheap nowadays they're a very good entry point into 3D printing in our playgroup we own two 3D printers they see a lot of use they're very well accepted in the hobby at this point like everyone uses 3D printed models or bits at least people like 3D printing all sorts of projects there's huge communities around all sorts of 3D printed stuff yeah and I mean these are more expensive you're like they're cheaper and they are cheaper they're like two to three hundred dollars for the cheap end of these resin printers but it's still two to three hundred dollars and it can go up yeah there's expensive ones that are like a grand but we're not going out there these ones are the ones that we started out with we still use I have 3D printed models that we've shown on my Twitter and everything that are all painted up and look nice yeah and they look beautiful like and even if you know you know that they're not going to print full models because whatever they don't want to do that they want to buy you can print like accessories onto models so they can be customized you know you can print a fancy looking hat or you know stuff like that like shoulder pauldrons for space brands with your custom chapter logo on them exactly like you if you're in this hobby for long enough and you're interested or if you know that the person is interested in 3D printing they can find uses for it yeah this is this is the type of gift though that you get someone that you live with where you know right they can do it I will say 3D printing doesn't have for that much of an issue the way that we handled it when I did it at my house was I put it in my guest bathroom that no one really uses and whenever the print was running I just turned on the fan in there and it pulls all the fumes out no issues you didn't know that I was 3D printing there was no resin smell outside of that room and I printed in there for weeks and weeks and weeks and if you walk in there now there's no like lingering smell or anything it's not like when people say it can smell they mean like temporarily while it's running in the room with it not a long-term issue if your environment's more restricted in like in an apartment that you don't have an extra bathroom that you can lock up for a day maybe it's not a good idea to go into the 3D printing with resin no again everything in this category I consider to be you should know what you're getting into you're not randomly buying someone a 3D printer yeah so I mean 3D printer is definitely on the more expensive end but they're super cool and just to kind of round it out having a tablet is actually kind of useful when playing the game so you can review your lists you can make notes like not everybody has the greatest handwriting to use and successfully use a notebook with paper some of us would like an electronic way to do that and a tablet is convenient they're also going to be here for looking at your very legal PDF of your codex Midway through a game or loading up your battle scribe list so that you can see live what your stats on your units are very conveniently yeah yeah and heads up don't get like the cheapest tablets out there no you want about like a hundred dollar tablet yeah something something like Samsung makes like hundred dollar ones that's the one that we put in the show note actually is like a refurbished one that's where it doesn't have to be super amazing iPad but it also shouldn't be the throwaway trash 20 one and then Amazon Fire probably won't really work because you'd have to jail hack it so that you can actually put the right things on it so go with an nice tablet if you're gonna do that did you just invent the word jail hack it yep okay and on that note I think we're done with the high end of our budget here uh hopefully somewhere in this episode you found what you're looking for for suggesting presents for yourself or for getting presents for a war gamer who is awful at telling you what they want for Christmas but that's enough of us let's get out of here for the week and if you still don't know you can always just get a subscription to Warhammer plus it's like six dollars a month sixty dollars a year oh yeah let's go oh my God do not do that don't don't do that to somebody yeah probably not [Music]
