well that don't look good right it's all busted up no that don't look good either right there's no seal there's no plastic seal a rubber seal is that good not good not good one bit so what are we dealing with here well this is actually a common phenomenon some customers due to certain factors or situations with their garage door not being able to perceive the depth as they move backwards or perhaps maybe inwards into the garage there might be a little bump to what is known as the bottom weather seal or astragal and its retainer again this is quite common it is an accident that happens from time to time but what is most important about this situation is to recognize and know what type of astrid roll or what type of weather seal you need you want to get the right weather seal so this specific door has a weather seal and a bottom master goal or a bottom retainer i should say that kind of snaps on now that's not a very efficient way of putting on the bottom weather seal what i've come with is something very different and what we're going to do is we're going to take care of this customer's bottom weather seal situation by applying a brand new aluminum retainer and at the same time a new bottom um rubber weather seal or the plastic seal it's going to look great it's going to be great and he's going to be so happy with it let's just go ahead and get into it party people i've done videos on this subject in the past so feel free to check them out and don't forget to like subscribe and hit that little bell button but seriously people before you do anything it's important that you understand first what type of bottom weather seal you need because in this case not one size fits all in fact there are certain types of seals that no longer exist and other seals that are no longer compatible so it is important to know the shape or design of your bottom door retainer now once you figure that out you want to examine the bottom door section so you can tell whether a tongue and groove retainer will work or not the most common retainers have t-channel grooves to accommodate t-shaped weather seals now in this specific case we're using an l shape retainer with t-channel grooves this should provide the best fit possible for the bottom door section mainly because the bottom section of this particular door is bent now based on the size of your door it may be necessary to cut any excess inches to properly fasten the retainer to the door don't forget to apply the time hold principle measure twice and cut once you have done that before and please take all the safety precautions necessary while utilizing the right tools to get the job done now after doing so you might need to take off any door handles from the bottom door section then while safely securing the door begin to fasten the bottom retainer with proper tap screws apply generously but make sure it looks clean now inspect your work thoroughly this should help you determine if you have any gaps along your bottom door section and the bottom retainer [Music] now i'm going to share with you a pro tip that should help you when installing your seal apply lubrication lightly to the t-channel grooves this should help slide the weather seal easily now it's best to go with an oil-based lubricant stay away from lubricants that leave a sticky film you don't need too much just enough to slide the seal on down [Music] once your seal is through you can cut any excess off the sides then tuck it in nicely you basically want to fold the seal within the retainer here's another pro tip for you you can use a hair dryer on medium heat to make your seal malleable and easy to shape once that's done test the garage door with the new weather seal and make sure that there's no light coming through the bottom as you can tell for this home owner we have a nice tight bottom garage door seal so replacing that bottom weather seal was a success the customer was extremely happy on how his garage door sealed from the inside and the outside and i wasn't 100 sure we were going to be able to accomplish that because once again his garage door section his bottom section had a few dents due to an accident now sometimes when you're replacing the bottom retainer with the astral with the bottom weather seal if you have dents to the bottom of your garage door section usually usually it will seal but sometimes it won't because those dents are too severe in this case the dents weren't extremely severe we were able to get a nice seal for the bottom uh section the garage door sealed properly super has happy customer this is just one way again this is just one way that we're able to replace a bottom weather seal and it's clearly due to the circumstances of the specific customer so not all circumstances are the same not all science fits one but if you do have any questions with regards to replacing your bottom weather seal please leave a comment down below we'd love to be able to help you out if you're trying to replace your weather seal if you're trying to find a retainer so that you can install a new brand new weather seal to your garage door section that's pretty much been it guys i just wanted to let you know that the customer was super happy and we were able to replace that for them appreciate you guys watching you guys be [Music] safe [Music] you
