GARAGE PACKAGE turned into a HOUSE PART 10 with visitors

good morning beautiful day we are doing part 10 of this build hoping to get the roof on on this side today it'll be a black metal we've started the porches you can see some framework around on the sides uh they're going to do the roof i'm not even going to go on the roof today i'm going to work going to work on rafters over on that side and so we can get that side done to finish the roofing over there so let's get it going and we have all the four by four posts up and they're all plumb both directions we have the uh it's a doubled two by eight all the way around the perimeter we uh after we get the rafters up we'll put the rest of the two by six ceiling uh joists i guess you could call them across but we've just finished doing a template for both the rafter pitch this way and the rafter pitch going up onto the uh main house roof the pitch is 512 22 and a half degrees it comes out about six inches below that window so that's perfect won't have any leak problems there also prevailing winds are from that side so the rain comes this way it really won't get much in the way of weather over on this side so they're marking all we did a template for each one again they're marking all of them out and we are going to start putting them up i'm going over here and put uh mark out the top plate for the on the carrying beam to locate the rafters at the bottom also we ran a string across here to get an inch and a half out that's how we found the in and out and then we snapped a line all the way across up there at the appropriate spot to attach the rafters chad and josh are on the other side of the roof prepping prepping that for roofing they've already done the i only have one camera today or else i i do both sides unfortunately i don't they've got the uh fascia on sub fascia and fascia and drip edge so they're almost ready to start putting some metal roofing sixteen we need sixteen yep theoretically they're all the same right right yeah that side will be different because we're coming up against the wall yep yep but these we won't have enough to do all of them i want to i want to make sure we have enough to do these yep rafters are all cut for for this side so we'll put them up now hopefully they fit yep so we'll put this first one up and nail it and hopefully i can just stay up there and i'll i'll i can then i'll have something to grab to and we'll just work our way across this side we won't nail any of these we'll just let them free float for now oh okay i think we're all set these chad's ready for you okay so we're tight to the uh the bird's mouth okay perfect next got to go to you fred about yep good and we're snugged perfect [Music] so i'm about ready to throw this it's not nailing well [Music] no i'm not really going to throw it just kidding quick turn the camera off so i can throw it what [Music] perfect why isn't that shooting [Applause] why do you have to put nails in it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] some can you take this gun and i'll and give me the other gun those guns have really actually been good we don't have any many problems with them i don't know there may be a nail jam or something i don't know i know the problem with the gun got to change the battery i guess once in a while oh boy good bye i only came with one camera today so i haven't been able to film josh and chad working over here hard workers they are got two sheets on should have a good share of this part done today hopefully we beat the rain lunch time okay so i wanted to explain something when we when we start with a a row of plywood we always start with a five footer or a three footer i'll explain why let me just make that mark [Applause] we typically start with a five footer so we have a foot overhang over the edge of the roof to plywood out to the rake that we put on so that's where we start with the five and then we alternate and we go start with a three on the second course so we're staggering the joints it's also creating the one foot overhang cut that so that's the three footer for the second course five footer for the main course uh i'll back up so you can see get a picture of this they're in the process of putting in the septic system i think no it's going to go down an inch and a half below that but you have marks up there yeah okay yep okay don't don't move it don't move it now can you push it up on your on the road side push it up a half inch or so a little more just a pinch more yeah yeah yeah yeah one more pinch too much perfect [Music] all right we have begun oh my head these are lining up perfectly who did these rafters just saw a sheet of metal roofing up there so they're a little over halfway on the other side of the metal roofing got to tell you i really appreciate these guys quite a blessing the thing is we all get along too even with a homeowner he's a great guy even i've had a lot of great uh customers this year every year really some some good ones um been so easy to get along with don't you hate it when you think you're recording and it's not even turned on so i'm sorry we missed putting all of that plywood on there but it's on the rafters all lined up perfectly they were just right on and the uh top of the porch plywood met the roof of the main house plywood right on so it looks like we're completely square i love it all right this is going to wrap up this video porch roof has started we got the rafters on this side we ran out of materials for the the other side i just hadn't picked them up yet but it's dried in up through there the roof on the other side i just need one more sheet i think we'll go over and take a look at that see how it looks let's go down here and we'll look from uh the backside let's go for a ride this is such a beautiful spot i love it so we'll have the materials tomorrow we'll run that across the rafters and then we'll roof that and tie this porch in man that is finally going to be the the shape that's going to be awesome i can't wait let's go out front again i'll do my drone imitation we are way up there all right so we're wrapping up the end of the day and we have some company we have pop pop's grandchildren zoe and jackson
