hey welcome back to Rob's garage woodworking today what I'm trying to do is change this rubber seal at the bottom of my door now most of the seal looks pretty good but I've had a couple of mice in here that have chewed up both of the ends so I'd like to fix the seal and I've tried to take it off and I mean I can kind of pull it out but getting it back on doesn't look like yeah there's a little quick that's really the way to do it so I've gone ahead and bought a another seal another piece of weather stripping and it's this big massive thing and anyway what you do is you kind of fold it over like this but I've actually if you look here this little spot here it's kind of a tee if you can see that or not but it looks like this is the wrong type so I'm going to have to try a different kind but right now what I'm going to do is I'm going to try to remove this now it looks like I can take this whole assembly off by these little tiny bolts here I think they are quarter of an inch quarter of an inch and then some bigger ones at the ends which are actually attached to the garage door wheel assemblies so now try popping this off and we'll see if it works so I'm going to start with this one so you can see oh yeah that's going to come off nicely I like it yeah who knew this is the right way to do it like everything we do here are obscure eyes water we can quite often it's the first time we do something so you're the first NL because I'm learning as I go okay these n ones here are three eights still on I'll figure it out all right so it looks like I just have to pry it out if my neighbor would stop playing with this car learn that would be great thank you so you get a couple of screwdrivers try to pry it down back slide along see if I can free up that exactly sure why so stuff but it doesn't look like it's held on by anything also check both sides everything looks good just that this is on tight so okay so what I'm doing right now is I'm jamming this down I'm putting another screwdriver up and I'm wiggling it and it seems to be coming out how hard will this we put that I have no idea but it's probably not going to be pretty and see what happens okay so okay sorry about the freehand work here but this is what it looks like you can see how it's been chewed up at the end here so it has these little slots and then this just fits into the slots you see all the two marks so anyway I'm going to slide this out and on the other side just has a whole lot of dirt and dead bugs in it but basically this is it it's just held on with these little spots here these holes you can see where the screws go right and then you just screw it to the bottom of the door works really well actually so I'm going to pull this out and then we're going to try and fit in the new piece alright so what we're going to try to do is we're going to try to pull this out and we're just going to pull it this way and it's actually okay so we have our channel here and the one that I bought is different than this so exactly sheriff this will fit on all sides see if I can get it in trekking take it back and get something different yeah way too big I finally got my package in from the states and this is my seal to the bottom of the garage door and the weather stripping the seal so this took weeks to get there you know I could have got something from Australia faster I don't know why it takes so long to get something from the states you know it's like probably 14 hours away from point to point right so anyway but I got it so we're going to open it up and install it so first I'll a bit to make sure it was long enough this is a car in half size garage door and they easily enough for a fella got lots extra secondly this is for it's a Wayne Dalton door so the profile is a little bit different but there so it's kind of an oval if you see that and it's different a lot of the newer ones have kind of a t slot so this isn't quite as nice as the original but it's pretty close so it should do so we have to do is slide it did to the profile and she goes engine sliding relatively easily so this will obviously take a while I'm actually going to clamp this down to the table so it's easier to put it and that should actually it's not going to badly probably be better with two people as well alright so now we're going to trim off the excess and I'm just going to cut it with scissors hopefully this works alright there you go and that's that now we're going to hang it up so I've lowered the garage door so it's like a little bit less than shoulder height so it's these knees I'm going to clamp this one piece because it's like goes all the way across the bottom of the door so I'm going to take a clamp and stick it here and put the one side inside this plant and then grab the other end and then I will start shooting the bolts all right this won't be super easy for you guys to see but hold it place hold up out of the way now I have to sort of them basically just leave a little bit of space to hang out let's have to line up the holes and I'll have to shoot the screws so let's do that alright looks like the easiest way is to pry this back with a screwdriver push this up there looks good oh that's perfect I shoot this pullback in there we go perfect and then I'll put the rest of the bolts in I am do the same thing to this end over here now I just help you little guys in the middle so I'm going to start with the very center one push that up that in there's the other one and that's it all right so last step I'm going to do here is on these hinges not on by the wheels you don't lirik eight the wheels you can lubricate where the bearings are in the wheel but not the wheel itself and then right here this is actually supposed to slide back and forth they get rusty the other ones are a little better shape or the ones down to the bottom of the door take the worst get the worst of the moisture a minute so I'm going to put some lube there maybe some grease and get those so that air moving back and forth a little bit better and the garage door is self aligning so this will help it to to open and close smoothly all right okay we're just going to spread the grease around a little bit and on the back in the front now all the other hinges I'm going to give them a shot at well down by the wheels I'm sure they're going in and out and the hinge itself so just a little shot of oil just to keep everything moving I can do this to everyone well there you go guys you've completed another job give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back go grab yourself a beer and celebrate another job well done thanks for watching
