Foodies - GameNight! Se7 Ep33 - How to Play and Playthrough

[Music] tonight I'm game night rusty Deborah Lincoln and myself Nikki are going to play foodies a game for two to five players published by swg and come on designed by Ken gruel let's design the perfect food cart hey Nikki hi Deborah will you teach us foodies I will Woody's foodies so in foodies we are all managers of our own food courts which are is the board's in front of us they're each unique a little little tweaks in each of them I'll explain that when we get to actually building the food stalls what we want to do is draft certain types of food each of these stalls have a different kind of food type in them and that is determined by these cards here so there's actually 10 cards with different nationalities on them and we randomly draw five and that determines the nationality of the food stalls we're going to have in our food stall stack that we will will draft right right okay so we already did this off-camera and we've got I'm gonna need help with the flags oh yeah yeah German French American Thai Russian and Russian yes okay so those are all the food types that we're gonna have in this stack that we're going to draft and you place them on your board you'll notice that each of these have a little hole in them that is so you can see the price when you're drafting and if I pay for this and I put it on my stall board I'm just going to put it up here on number two you can see the number through the hole here on a player's turn there are three phases that you're going to do on your turn and the first phase is to roll this die and that's going to tell you and every all the other player what's gonna pay out on your food court this turn so I just rolled a five so everyone looks at their five and then in this instance you're going to take two coins it looks like everybody's got the same two coins maybe five is always four if I had rolled let's say the four this is part of the setup of the game my particular four doesn't already have a coin on it so when you set up your food court at the beginning of the game anyone that doesn't have a printed will put a dollar on each of those unprinted ones normally I clicked at one and I'm only going to collect it once so I for was rolled I'd collect this and put it in mine in but for instance Deborah and rusty it's printed so they just will take one from the bank all right then on your the second phase of your turn is to draft a food stall from what's available up here and these are the prices $3 for up to seven to buy that food to buy buy that stole to buy that stall and place it in your food court each of these has a what they pay out on them and they're all different we can get into the ones that are out right now for this card here you can either take the payout from the bank the $2 or you can take a popularity point for the car same cards of this type orthogonal e around the card oh cool the next one is this with the US flag on it and if you have this stall and you happen to roll the correct number you can choose either take a popularity or you compare your American food stalls if you are tied or have the most you will get the the payout from from the bank of three coins okay all right and that's kind of the same way this one works you don't have the choice though so you're gonna get something or you're not on that one this one at least you have the option of maybe taking the popular you're gonna take something like that is this one then you you're aiming to be you wanna be yeah yeah and the same with the French one you are correct and then the German here is for your German cuisine you get a flyer which is this little card here and I'll explain what Flyers do after I get through the carts and the layout of the board so as far as that goes also if we've got something like this and we've rolled either a five or six on our turn if you have a completed star you get a point for that too so you want to be aware of what you're buying to complete Stars and then if those numbers are rolled in addition to these sort of benefits you also get a point for completed Stars and then the rest of the cards will go through as thick as they come out cool okay so that was the phase two of your turn phase three is hiring a chef if you want to this is permanent to the board and these two are randomly chosen from I think it's a stack of five of them and randomly chosen what happens with this one is if you have four coins you can pay the four coins on your turn to get an additional popularity by popular but do you use these to do this is that what the deal is no you don't they and that's just the coins and that you can do once on your turn these two is a one-time only the only in the game is that what these are for yes okay so you've got two of these so if I fill the requirements and I want to take that option I place it on here that means I've done it already this game I can do that again but everyone else still has the option if they get to those kind of requirements this chef is if you have at least two stalls from three different cuisines you can get the three popularity you're not trading them in this is no and yeah yeah and then you place your point your coin there and you take it immediately this chef is if you have six completed stars in your dashboard in your stalls stalls you can gain three popularity nice okay and then we've got the wires Flyers composite so these actually are distributed based on number of players so I'm gonna be the fourth player so I got three and rusty will be the first player so he only got one and then you guys on that side of table that was a mushroom you know that's the start play anytime during a turn actually you can turn this in and instead of whatever was world let's say it was a six and that's terrible for you you can turn this in to pick a different stall to pay out on your turn so you would get rid of it okay okay so then if I were to buy this I would get one yeah so when you when you buy this one you are going to get another flier for that okay and then the fliers when you turn them in it's it's vertically or horizontally to whatever so if it was a six you you had you could choose from the three or the nine or the five okay and then when you buy with a chili pepper what does that mean okay that's gonna be referring to certain types of payouts so if for instance in this one I explained it incorrectly tiny chili pepper so what that means is you're gonna get orthogonal II whatever's attached to this particular card adjacent you will get a popularity if those have chili peppers next to him so if you had a chili pepper in here that's what rolled and you actually had a chili pepper in two six eight and four you would get for popularity on the track for it for having the peppers so that the peppers are on this one too so the game ends in a four player or five player once you hit 30 points so and it's marked on the popularity board but there's another side to this for two player that is a twenty points I think yeah are you saying if you're the most right and the turn plays out so whoever triggers that everyone else gets one last turn and then it's done okay cool now and do they win or their separate points we do they just win if they make it it's gonna be no because we're gonna finish playing out so whoever's highest on them so you'll be the last one to play well whoever triggers that and then we go right you'll be the last like the trustees the start place so but he would trigger it by getting to 30 and then if someone else makes it to 30 you're tied or beyond because it comes to 39 right so it's the yeah I know I see I see this tattoo and it's absolutely I see deeps doing it like this and I kept seeing that as I keep thinking good because it looks like it would exactly be that right perfect very gamy to the snake it gotcha ties work where if you're tied for most popularity first then it's down to coins and then if there's still a tie after that everybody's friends international yes good current unity and I forgot to point out which is wonderful is this there's a zero on the die the zero when rolled lets you choose the number you long does everybody get that and everybody gets the payout but you say but people get to be ok let's stir it up rusty okay alright let's see what we got here five we all get rich thank you our food courts are working out and now I have five dollars I could spend I am going to go with the French food for three okay and I'm going to place that here in my number two position that's smart just so that I don't lose the possibility of having continually right hold on hold on right now you do have the most seen as well um I don't have four so I'm not going to use a chef or higher and I can't meet either of those okay so I think that is the end of my turn all right so we shift oh they chef three shifts so everything it's gonna get cheaper and then you turn up the next one don't don't this one is when you draft it you are going to give yourself four coins and one of these stars all right so then when that number is wrong you put it on the card you put it on the card when that number's rolled you can collect it okay and and it's not gonna refill so this is a type of stall which I didn't say you can any stall actually you can draft another stall and put it over it but as kind of like this might be a good stall for that once it pays out it's never going to refill so if you draft another stall you can cover it up nice but you can do that with any of these if you want okay so you can cover up the Russian caviar place with an American hot dog yes well it won't experiences it's gonna either be Italian or Chinese food situations go alright what's yours well I know what I want to buy because I'm just seeing it I though I really shouldn't buy it five again we're all getting rich Shing money there's money big money too for you no whammies I think I'm gonna go for the tie because it will pay two dollars regardless if I don't have enough to be adjacent other spicy ones adjacent but that's six dollars so here's the six I'm gonna do it here I'm gonna put that on top right mmm-hmm yes okay if you haven't collected it off of your board then it goes on top cool okay and I'm not gonna hire anybody cuz I don't have anything going shifting yeah what do we got here $7.00 for a hot dogs yeah there must be like a Hot Dog on a Stick it must be a popular with so this one's this one's almost the same as this one in that instead of a popularity you could if you wanted to take coin or you compare with who has the most then you get that payout if you have the most I'm tireder the most yeah I'm upside down so I'm trying to figure out where my stars oh yeah you know I want to put it on this I would definitely wouldn't want to put it here well I definitely I mean I want to fill in my empty spots but I also I'd like to make star connections that kills fun that's really cool nine nine nine times nine is my coin I get a corner okay so now I have a lot eight we could get anything eat stuff you could go for that hot dog stand okay or the hot wings I think that'd be good for my 8th spot so well no you don't want it you don't want on 8 right because it's gonna put the start right then I know it's terrible right I'm sorry I brought this this I would want in my to this you'd one like your five or your for yourself I know can we turn him sideways no you see I mean I like I like that guy and I like that you can build over him but he would cover my 5 oh yeah permanently but shape isn't great although if I put it in the corner it would be okay then it's another site that's not that baby where there's no baby and she's not in the corner no goodness we haven't paid out on the one this is the one that I can probably hold off on that one it's got as much a chance as any other number coming up what should i do then I guess I could do the French cassoulet that's five and that would be I have to get in the French game though I think to be [Music] internationally trying to do stars and I think I'm gonna spend seven I already put there's six seven I want to get the one German one there that gives me another flyer or like a like a bonus point if you have every nationality that would be cool that's probably one of these maybe yeah there's seven I get an additional happen crazy bad it would go right next to this it doesn't have a star on the bottom there's some reason I'm obsessed with making all well I think it's a good idea but I've already blown it here but I had to have the hot wings I think those are hot wings that is a downside to covering up a stall like this one you're not getting the payout but you lose you lose those stars Italy which by the way aren't you supposed to get a story hey I'm winning the game one point fast up and gate like I guess I'll I guess I'll also get in the French game your cassoulet you're gonna do it I think I'll do the yeah hey come on rusty roll that three seven the dollar gets me $1 well wonder if this is gonna stay Nikki's got her hot dogs in it in none of those numbers seem to match up for me Myers yeah I mean Stars the Stars the Stars the stars are no lining for you [Applause] we'll go with the German food German which German do you want to pay five or four well the payouts different thank you yeah I'm does looks like a delicious curry when we use what are the Flyers bargain the way would we'd use the Flyers for good that will let you if you if you on your roll or any time if it's a number that's though because there are no corner pieces o to match it up perfectly well you can do the middle well yeah I just I miss you know somewhere somewhere so this middle would be not so bad at least wouldn't be so bad seven dollars but um right but I'd also get a flag I get ups wire here and go here and just do earthquake and disarray one two three this one take a flyer you can go anywhere I still have that option if I can get it that's it right hmm zero I get to choose my payout that's the first zero isn't it I'm taking 500 I'm choosing them oh you are you and we don't all just yeah I don't know knead the dough is I'll get the three popularity three and then I need to buy something and four because now I have two of each food type toto sorry do this one and gets three more popularity and then I've done four coin seems awfully steep for one star okay I mean you could get a card eight it gets me a coin two stars in two dollars yeah I'll take it oh I can do a thing do you have for American is that your deal Lincoln I only have two - is everybody - or less so I'm gonna turn in a flier and do get three coins and with my three coins I'm going to purchase the French they're not for sale just like Greenland the French stop hmm and that is hey American I don't know what I really want I know I don't want it to be a nine so I am going to do the flyer you do it as a four which will give me three dollars plus three stars - three and then what do I need my time one looked pretty good as far as positions and BA so I'll spend six take that a seven excuse me exam one no no that's the one I want six keep thinking about the American but I don't cool I think I fine then I'll spend four for a faint might as well get into the point where we don't want to buy a necessarily as much remember coins are tiebreakers yeah I know hey that's really talking six ray so I get - oh I triggered three shame oh wow wow game is those of you I will not be winning I think you take that back I'm gonna spend this and make it a five to get Forrester come on I'm going to move here and get three stars out of that one too no I'm gonna take the popularity instead someone there okay and that was seven and I got a buys I'm gonna make it before which gives me all of three plus of three dollars which I don't think I care about well the best okay that doesn't give me enough coins to do everything I wanted to do but okay five three fine before this which then gets me enough stars to claim this so I get three more one two three that is the best I can the best you can do just slide it anyways happen for myself so where we at we got 36 fern Deborah 34 rusty 28 for me and 25 and you keep eating well winner what did you think that's pretty great I think that stars really paid off cuz I am the fact that popularity is the winning factor meant that every single role pretty much paid out for me in that way well the funny thing was as I was I'm we should have been thinking about this yes I know but you only just gained another one by buying the German one buts well I I mean I would have been six more points for me that wouldn't have been too bad yeah well like she'd like it but it's hard to remember to do it cuz she rolled a seven I was like oh I get two stars but I went wait if I spend this I get four right so you have to kind of trick you know remind yourself to for sure it's worth it yeah what do you think Nick I enjoy it it's fun I like it's it's a tile it's a tile like game like tile laying games so for me the fun is trying to get the stars to line up really well I don't clearly not necessarily owe anything my big problem in my game was I had these two holes here these kept getting rolled rolled and I had this wonderful with the star on all four sides and it was and I never got the stars out of it because I didn't until this last turn get a star in there so placing here that one time was a bad move I should have been more like what you did where you you made your lines and everything and you made him really well you were close to Nicky yeah you literally you would have had a better table if you'd gotten one like this but on for that edge over there right yeah it's this was Debra's not that it was bad because you did perfectly fine regardless yeah because these were great if you had a three right was the very height of the game luckily none of you caught up with me on America so I was able to keep taking that and then yeah it was this much commute I'm now tied with rusty for France so I would start making money on Britain from when the French came up so yeah and all that the stars and I like the Flyers shows are really fun to use I know when they like you took the pay out great the owners Neels that one time I'm like why would I want to this is my opportunity why do I want to wait for that one because it's a one-time payout anyway so whatever just take it now because I can trigger it with my so in it leaves you some options instead of just getting stuck with the role and I think the other option is just if you roll a zero and we only rolled that one string okay so where you get to choose right but again that's another kind of a way to get out of a bad situation what do you think rusty I'm like there are so many little elements to it of many other games that I like tales of glory it reminds me a bit of that yeah the the stars the connecting of the stars a little bit of Vegas showdown they're not the roll the dice to activate locations so many different games the the drafting and the values here it it just gives it a little excitement where everybody is you know waiting for that one player's turn yeah and so you've got that fun and the theme it's not a heavy theme but you know like like dimmer was it makes you hungry yeah okay and with the variety because we didn't see all the the nationalities yeah this can interact differently so my I mean it's fast it's something could be replayed again so I like those items about it look forward to playing it again so we're the Russian ones all one single pan I I believe all the Russians are the single payouts the the French cards seem to give you popularity the American cards give you money well they are ever been here oh yeah yeah Germany gives you the flyer wrap none of the other nationalities are giving flyers I don't think and then American and Thai have spicy in terms of our of our board right so these are the other foods so look at this right you've got oh wow choices choices choices there is that what they all do yeah it's or or there's two orders on there you go interesting yeah it's different you could probably just roll the die and fill out movies different looks five cards you you didn't here's the Mexican so that's got somebody that's car I don't know if it's all about the spicy but it looks like it might be yeah so there's that and then we've got Japanese and that looks like it's all about what's near to it right what does that mean spicy or dollars no you can you get a dollar for every yeah yeah that's fantastic I'd like that one so yeah this is I was kind of in the spicy game the adjacent scene and a talent well every one of them is that yeah or money or fame or that they out and then Italian food mm-hmm so this one is $2 for every adjacent Japanese restaurant Wow those all have that Wow that would have been anyone to what was the Italian one adjacency but not I mean it it's nonspecific okay like Japanese is more Japanese for you to around it that one's not start for everything you have around this way yeah because this is a draw Italian food as a drawn by the other places I guess maybe since it's like the most popular restaurant kind and the last one is Chinese and that's a bunch of choices to like them Brazilian but that's interesting so this is but this is columns and rows oh yeah I think I heard about this one they played it on The BFG trees so dollars for every column or row that you have and then they have that wow so that's a lot of yeah interesting so you definitely want to get them all aligned wow that is really neat so there's some variety for sure it's definitely difficult to fulfill the star pattern thing though I mean like this one there isn't a single one the Russian is the only one that does all four sides yeah interesting to note I believe so is there even more than one card that does that in the Russian one no I think it's just so if you were not playing with the Russian death yeah you'd be Sol that way right it's not every one of them even has force right I'm saying if you didn't play with the Russian deck at all the cabbie and nothing that would work in five four four star well it's caviar right so it's gone it's the fancy stuff yeah the fancy fancy interest time so you know the game can be different also because you've got the different nationalities that get randomly thrown into the game mm-hmm yes of my sort of strategy doesn't work if you don't have that well close to it right that was fantastic I didn't realize that that was an issue that there wasn't more than one of those cards in the deck in all the decks and here are the other chefs chefs and their abilities there so this is this is one this is for of anyone yeah would be a gonna guess and then this and then this one's guess your ex mm-hmm they all feel doable yeah yeah these are actually kind of this one in particular seems like a simple one I mean obviously getting it and if you're doing lately yeah trying to make it line up yeah oh wait you had so yours that you write that you guys both have the same one thing my last turn I managed to get yeah that one no but I meant you you both had the for the yeah yeah yeah interesting that's actually really kind of cool really odd so yeah you you almost feel like you have to have the Russian you don't have to obviously but you kind of want to have it if you're gonna try to do the star game and it is absolutely the way to go like having you know this was great at the six position right yeah it just means everything pays out popularity wise which is yeah it's really you wanna need money but you need to switch gears for sure that was the thing about like wheat none of us filled in the board right so he only had eight turns yeah well because you're paying out and everyone else is turned I never felt like I was low on oh no I always had yeah that's why I mean I have to at least had $6 a blue shirt have shifted gears and only taking fame on these but again I didn't get that awesome spicy synergy going on because I also was trying to go for just the stars as well and I think I paid that maybe twice before but that because that only came near the end of the game - no that can't because I had to for a long time I should have been trying to pick well my pigs are rounded because I know this was later I had taken that and it was like oh well that'll be perfect for the last two rolls of
