and uh arturo will defend against the undefeated floyd mayweather mayweather again considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today let's take a look at the tail the tape gotti is seven five years older than mayweather the height slightly in favor of mayweather the reach significantly in favor of mayweather [Applause] thing dick is gotti faces more speed than he's ever seen and mayweather probably sees more power than he's ever faced let me ask you this question mcgirt has said that they can't sit in front of mayweather they're not going to hit him on they can't hit him on the chin nobody can hit him on his chin he's too fast so you don't sit in front of him but you got to get to his body that's right they have to jab their way in and move on some angles and then punish them to the body if they get that opportunity he is tough to hit to the head because watch mayweather's head movement makes himself more elusive it would be probably a secondary follow-up punch that would get him if you land to the head [Applause] daddy physically looks much bigger this is only the third fight at the junior level 8 level for mayweather he is the former super featherweight champion and lightweight champion and has moved up [Applause] into the junior welterweights or light well awaits gotti was probably a junior away yesterday for about an hour and a half to two hours and he got off that scale he went to eat and he put the weight on probably went from 139 to 149 150. interesting he dropped 28 pounds to get ready for this fight that was a lot to take off during training but he made weight well that was a problem he had early on in his career he used to balloon up and lose him tremendous amounts of weight to get ready for a fight so i was kind of surprised that he did that again this time gotti trying to jab here mayweather hits him with a hook and then her right hand but we're seeing a more controlled gaddy the the same guy that we saw against bronco doreen and leija being patient early in the fight the thing is when if he gets nailed will they go back to the old gaddy or will he be this version it's an interesting question he's been pretty disciplined over his last six fights since his second fight with mickey ward he's he's done what mcgirt wanted i would be surprised if he abandoned what he's been doing the last six fights but then one never knows because he's in with a very talented fighter he won't abandon it voluntarily if it'll happen it would be after he got hit this has been where he would like to wage the fight and you very devastating shot and again daddy being held down low mayweather is showing the flashes the flurries that he can fire out so quickly there's a left hand to daddy's face now you still have gaddy lunging there and this is the real challenge of whether he can maintain his boxing when you know your emotions would indicate you might be rattled in there there's the uh shoulder by mayweather coming up and getting gottie this has all the makings of something that could be a pretty dirty fight [Music] going to have to go to the bodies he's going to have to throw one of those leonard doreen body winning effort against those guys who are top-notch fighters he right here for gaddies to weather this early onslaught and try to settle in again as mayweather tries to run away with it so quick left to the ball right landing those combinations with lightning speed there's a right again another way to so quick he's turning gaddy now and when he turns to the side he's able to land big shots and we'll come to the end of round two mayweather showing the blinding speed there the good right hand look at the foot speed that he gets in and fires off a good left hook after that good right hand remember uh first round we said the most speed that gotti's ever faced and you see the imposing effects of it [Applause] third round is upon us scheduled for 12 attorne ghadi defending his title against the undefeated floyd mayweather trained by his uncle roger mayweather two-time champion in his own right now just walking right out i said walker and gotti trained by buddy mcgirt a former fighter here's gaddy now trying to to jab a little bit [Applause] got he needs to jab and even if he's not landing just keep it out there so that mayweather can't time him look at me with a charging at him kept just long enough mayweather said i'm going to box circles around him and go inside and punish him [Applause] he mayweather just dares you to come in with his left hand down low [Applause] gaddy has nothing to lose even if he gets warned for a low blow i was thinking dave that daddy should pressuring pressure him go after him even if he gets peppered if he could lay on him lean on him wear him down a little bit physically but i think mayweather is just too quick he slips away and he throws uh double triple punches and look at that you block two left hands and you're happy and then he nails you down the middle with a right hand third round action a long anticipated fight ricky hatton is in town and he's been campaigning looks like the winner of this now mayweather's warned about getting the punches up but watch how he moves watch the hips as he gets into his punches and he'll turn so when he turns he's able to sit down on the second punch no when you look at the speed of mayweather you know it boils down to forgotty he will need the bomb at some point in this fight well i'm thinking dave that forgotty that one little moment in time that one window in time and he could land a big body shot because i think the body shot's the only thing that could do it set up other things yeah [Applause] and then from his perspective have something left still [Applause] mayweather leaping in with the left hand he will really test gotti's stamina mayweather has a good chin as well we come down to the end of round three [Music] round four mayweather uh sprinting off his school buddy mcgirt giving instructions to arturo gotti [Applause] that he's trying to get a little movement involved here trying to rotate the shoulders a little bit he's got mayweather on the ropes [Applause] he's got him at a distance he needs to keep the jab popping so that mayweather cannot just leap into him watch where mayweather starts his attack from he's so fast he can leap in and that adds power because of the way he's doing it he's keeping his leverage he's turning properly but that's athleticism when he comes in gotti needs to neutralize that by popping the jab in the face mayweather will also switch he will go southball once in a while [Applause] he's got good defense excellent defense and he's been known to toy with opponents [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he's trying to load up and mayweather knew and nailed them with three thought he walked just straight into him talented athlete but he's got great heart he's getting nailed because of the jab not being out there if he's just pouring with it mayweather comes storming behind it [Applause] mayweather showing why so difficult to fight [Applause] uh has somewhat of a look of desperation on his face well he's been out pointed before he's been in difficult fights before he's a warrior to the end he would just like to buy a little accuracy right now he's taking a lot of criticism that he's fought b-level fighters that his management has set it up for him and all that and this is obviously the toughest test of his career and to a degree it's a tough test for mayweather as well and some of the criticism uh the analysis on gotti was legitimate because he basically it was a box office play that's just another element of boxing he pretty much existed outside the realities of the sport [Applause] mayweather is scoring at will and we finish up round four [Music] here's a big shot by mayweather the left hook three big shots is getting walked into now it's five he just walked into it and it's the infinite quickness by mayweather he will not let gaddy reload [Applause] round five and the thing we want to keep our eye on dave is uh will daddy's eyes start to swell because he's taking shots right in the face the jab from mayweather he has cut badly in the past swollen badly in the past these are laser shots as the heads almost come together the elbow the shoulder of mayweather come up on gotti it looks like uh gaddy's left eye is starting to swell yeah the mayweather jab has helped that along and both fighters have had hand troubles over the years mayweather's had brittle hands daddy's had broken hands yeah god he broke his hand right here in the third fourth round against mickey ward in their third fight went on to win the fight with one hand [Music] mayweather missing over the top come on jabbed and when he missed mayweather he ducked so that he could avoid the counter and that's when they tied up mayweather's jab is so quick gaddy should fire that left hand and then knowing that mayweather will charge at him try to hit him with an uppercut the timing play fifth round action again mayweather holding behind the head he makes sure that god he won't get up from that [Applause] but what we're seeing is gaddy is trying to win it with his jab here and then he goes in like he just did with the jab then he stopped throwing he needs to throw three jabs and now mayweather warned about the elbow gotti needs to throw two or three jabs and then take his chances once he's in but look both hands go yeah mayweather has made him pay when he gets in and to his credit [Applause] daddy has a little more aggression in this round mayweather still makes him pay every time he misses look at that [Applause] this is surgical sharp shooting the second punch by mayweather that's uncanny to miss that wildly with the left hook and then be in such a good position that you can land the right hand behind that mayweather's had a very turbulent career knows the right hand he's had various uh people manage him he once was handled by his father he got rid of him he's had legal problems he's doubtful whether he'd be able to take this fight and that ends round four here's another look at the mayweather explosion good right hand this is what started his good round gotti had been doing well look at these simple shots by mayweather and then they built up to more round six [Applause] let me ask you this dave daddy obviously is trying to do some boxing here just doesn't have the quickness and the moves that mayweather has he's got to do something offensively he's either got to start the brawl he's got to do something well he has to become the old guy because this one is just running into too much mayweather you know he came in buddy mcgirt has done a great job for him and in these last two fights he was not hit much that system worked he brought that system in here that's what he's trying to perfect but with mayweather's quickness you know the deliberate approach the scientific [Music] idea of coming in there jab jab throw something he may have to abandon that and just try to land a big gutty shot or go after him he's tried a couple things he's tried to go uh to the body he's had a couple shots blocked but you know when you make a guy a boxer it's hard to just snap your fingers and then make him a growler all over again they took a long time to turn gottie back into a boxer and he's paying for everything right now [Music] mayweather could stop him if he keeps this type of assault up gotti literally has nothing to lose [Applause] by turning into his old man and a right hand two right hand three right hands how much will they allow him to take also in his corner he's trying a right hand counter but he this is what happens if you don't have the speed and when you've turned into a boxer can you summon the old offense because obviously he won't be able to just get in the old-fashioned way look at that triple triple hooks right oh he is unloading the the gotti corner they have a decision to make in the next round or two if he continues to take this type of punishment well daddy's saying something they're real important about holding the elbow you talk about where is gotti's offense too you know if the other guy is quicker than you and then really makes you pay when you make a mistake you get gunshot we're seeing a gunshot approach here by gotti it's self-preservation he's just being out quick and his left eye looks like it's almost shut i think the corner may have to step in for him at some point this will end round six [Applause] [Applause] i think it's [Applause] they made it sooner rather than later and they made the right one [Applause] well stephanie's starting to throw here heads up take the title and give it back well you know what he's i think he would just love people to love him as much as they love arturo gotti that's the kind of stuff you can't buy there's a lot of people on that ring and here's mayweather uh 34-0 now daddy's run has been ended a phenomenal five-fight run here at boardwalk [Applause] after hall when he lost three fights in a row and then came back oh the big right hand by mayweather and just a matter of how much more of this could he take three four nice loaded right hand then he comes in with more jab to the body look at this this is what i mean mayweather is a special fighter [Music] you just cannot have an answer for the guy's quickness and then buddy mcgirt [Applause] so there they are buddy and uh arturo gotti and as we said earlier buddy mcgirt stopped it well ricky hatton's in the house cotto's in the house what do you think they think how would they stand up against mayweather well probably not that much better than gotti tonight this is an excellent vision version of mayweather here look at this you know he's right up there bernard hopkins one of the best fighters in the sport and he shows you why tonight well he said he was going to go for another easy victory i mean he has said all kinds of things all week and got people really fired up but he delivered the goods here [Music] round wbc super lightweight champion of the i did was you know took my time listen to my uncle roger and stuck to the game plan you know that's not get big headed listen you never get get too big be headed for your trainer and stay focused that's all i did hey what would you do if there were 13 000 people here tonight chanting for you like they were for arturo well i told like i said before man i just appreciate the fans for even coming out the arena was so loud it was an hbo show pay-per-view it was a big event and i'm glad that you know the fans let me come here and fight i appreciate it who would you like now ricky hatton's here a lot of people coming in here to lobby for the floyd mayweather sweepstakes who would you like to fight i don't matter i'll leave it all up to my promoter if if mayor ricky had to do it they got the master square guard that's what i would like to do but our tour guide he got he got a lot he got a lot left he could become champion again it was a great fight tonight and it feels good to be champion again well you put on quite a show congratulations on this great effort and look who came over here tonight great warrior throughout the year arturo a terrific run throughout your career uh tell us about this fight from your perspective tonight well we were just way quicker than i thought he was uh i tried my best you know i tried to boston boxing but i think i was head hunting a little bit too much and i forgot to go to the upper body but like what he was telling me forget about the head would hit his body but uh he's quick all over you know he's fast fired he's a good fighter yeah because you had been such a great boxer in your recent fight and you started out that way tonight but what's different when you see a guy like this when you're trying to box him you know it's hard you know i thought i thought i did pretty good pretty well actually against him you know i showed i have a good great ability as a boxer but he's just quicker than i am and i guess that's it for me at 140. i'm going to step up to 47 for one more shot and that's it okay we'll talk about that a little bit more what did you think about uh buddy's decision there in the corner uh how did you sense uh things were worth that but did you agree with it oh you know i'm over here no i never want to quit but i felt that uh tonight there was a time that for him to stop the fight i agree with him and i don't want to take punishment for no reason because i want to be back in the ring and uh i think that was his decision i agree with him so you go up to 147 we'll see you again up there oh definitely one more shot We went to this fight in AC.

This was truly the fight where “Pretty Boy” Floyd’s skills were on full blast on the national level. Also, Roger Mayweather’s corner on HBO was hilarious when I saw it on the reply.

So many leading up to that fight picked and bet on Gatti, who was a god in Atlantic City. My uncle made a few $ betting.

We were sitting close to Roy Jones and Lampley. In the round right before it ended when Floyd was tattooing Gatti at will, we heard Roy say, “I don’t know how anyone didn’t see this coming!”
