So with this the cell remains capped? how does the refill time compare to the traditional methods that involve uncapping them? Just wondering how the bees go with realising the frames are empty.
Cool video! Seems like a fun experience, especially for people who want to see bees and honey without extraction process. It does seem more time and labor intensive than I had imagined though. I can't imagine extracting outdoors with a bunch of hives like that, but for one or two this is a nice setup.
Fellow flow hive user! Still haven't put the flow hive on yet as I want 3 deeps for wintering (Worcester MA).
Looking really good! How long did it take to fill?
Interesting - Seems like it would benefit from having some sort of control in how many cells were split at once if the honey is especially runny. Surprised at just how much you got out the one super, all uniquely different from each frame!
So, I don't understand the FlowHive, but is there a queen excluder on the bottom of it or something that keeps her out out the FlowHive?
What are the stores like in the other boxes?
True. If I had flow frames, I would at least take it off early and put on a regular super for them to have through late summer and into winter. That or have another honey super under it to leave for them, provided they could fill both.
Where do you live? We were wondering- our nw hive is not quiet at this stage yet and looking for some idea.
