[Music] welcome back to the Dan Donegan YouTube channel and I'm here with the flashforge creator 3 that's right the flashforge creator 3 and has just been released in the last couple of months it is an upgrade on the creator Pro the flashforge creator pro it retails between three and a half and four and a half thousand dollars just depends and that's Australian dollars depends on where you go to source that source at at that particular price now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go through the unboxing process and while a my boxing I'll tell you about some of the features of the unit itself now this is a big unit now you can see with me standing next to it it is a big unit so it's sitting on a table here but you do have to be mindful oddities a lot bigger than the adventure of three which we've also been using as a part of our channel the one big difference on this model that you'll hear is that its core it's an ID X and what that means is independent dual extruder so your extruders in there can act independently of each other so you could print the model that you're wanting to print twice so it can print one on the left hand side left hand so I'm on the right hand side as well that is probably that's the big difference you can have two different colors feeding in there so div two different filaments feeding there as well but if you're wanting to see that what is the the big difference and is the independent dual extruders now let's get to unboxing and as i unbox i will share some of the some of the other the features of it as well as we go through okay so as always the flash forges are always packed extremely well so this came in a massive box you do need a very big car if you're going to go pick this up or have it delivered to you I'm suggest have it delivered to you the box itself weighs about 50 - I think it's 52 kilos the unit itself weighs about I think it's about 40 about 42 kilos so it is a very big unit but what I love about the unit it is totally self-contained so when you're using and printing with things like abs we have to manage the temperature a little bit having that fully enclosed unit is a huge huge plus so let's get to start pulling off some of this huge amount of packaging on here one of the things which the build size as well is 300 by 250 by 200 build build position or build plate that's available to you so you can imagine being able to print off some really large models with this which is one of the big pluses of it now let me get some of these off huge amount of tape to protect this a massive amount of padding that was included on this one [Applause] off a little bit get a little bit a little bits so the unit itself is around 65 centimetres by 45 by 65 so you can see me standing next to it again it is a it is a big a big unit has the protective touch screen on there one of the challenges idea had on the adventure 3 was just the touch screen so I'm interest to see this is a slightly larger touch screen so I'm hoping this has a slightly better touch sensitivity so manual quite a thick manual but the one good thing about it is you've got a really extensive user guides online as well so I think manuals come with it Quick Start Guide always enjoy the Quick Start Guide because I like to get up and running quite quickly your standard power cable so this is Australian power cable it Scots I like it's got the washable glue so for your slightly larger models you want to make sure it sticks to the surface a little better there you've got your glue in there its Scotch like a spatula to scrape the models off at the end you've got got your usual you've all sitting here you've got your what do you know what sir it's actually a few things in it so yes we've got a spatula I got the extruder to be able to actually clean out the extruder if it gets clogged up and that's one of the things we've myadventure three I've never had a blockage on my adventure three yes so that's why I'll stuck with going to a larger build side in bill size in the flashforge itself the glue that we talked about blue in here oh yeah you got your grease all right so these are the brushes so one things which you'll notice in there is that has extruder head extruder head cleaners so it allows you to wipe the extruder the roots remove some of this stringiness during your print so these are the these are the brushes you put inside the unit cell so these might be spare ones I'm not sure we'll have to check that in the minutes so just spanners screwdriver some allen keys and that's good well I'll say includes also includes a USB stick you know spent a 16 gig cruise blade or sandesh 16 TIG 16 gig SanDisk USB stick always on the hunt for USB sticks on because actually climb so that is a pretty good great job flash forward including that that certainly helps so just taking the phone carefully carefully out the top one thing that does also include is a couple of a couple of rolls of one-kilo rolls of filament so I'm interested to know what colors we're going to get so we've got one kilo of white filament so one kilo white filament so I'm going to put that off down to the bottom here and then we've also got one kilo of blue filaments that comes with two kilos of filament so again always flash-forwards for them it's very well all tightly sealed it's got the moisture absorber in the center as well which is great that's going after year so I was gonna lift it out but this has coming out from the come out from the front so let's get to the front section now what else some of the features so layer height goes from point zero five millimeters up to point four that comes with eight points four millimeter nozzle nozzle width which is a good which is good size it supports the standard one point seven five millimeter filaments so we've typically been using PLA filament but it has the support for every type of filament and you can think of whether it's wood filament whether it's nylon where it's PRTG whether it's abs you have available to you with these with these great and well-built extras you have available to all different types of filaments you can use so that is one big plus are going to a more professional grade professional grade 3d prints up okay so last couple of little bits of plastic yeah that so these are where the filaments from how I said before you've got brushes in there that brushing in and wipe the extruder head this is the little bins that are in there to capture any those filament excesses that come off so there's two of these bins that are included in there so it's two of these bins there now this farm he's going to carefully pop the top I should have put that lid down first foam is gonna carefully come out as a huge piece of foam oh and look at that certainly when you take that foam out the initial initial look inside the unit you can see why this does support the 300 250 by 200 it is very very nice very nice indeed okay so key a couple of key steps you need to do you have to power it up to get the last bit of foam out so that's important there's two clips that are in there which are critical that you need to make sure that you remove so I'm going to this is one of the ones where they look like I've already taken that one I'm gonna show you I'm just gonna go in the now and Bo in there for you the last one so you can see it clips there and the other one was clipped originally now that one was clicked up here like that so you need to carefully pull them off you don't need scissors or really you literally just find the spot on the pole so this one slides back backwards pop off and you see that yep and then this then slides back towards you so you push push it back first and then pull it towards you and then the clip just comes out like that so very important to make sure those those are clearly removed and you can see the two till extruders there like that so now what we're going to do is I've already plugged it in we're going to now just switch it on to remove the last piece of foam okay so I'm going to switch it on switch it on now at the back you can hear the fans starting to start worrying and you can hear them kicking off now the LCD screen is now switching on liking the thing here so what we're going to do is we're going to go into tools so if I get the right angle here we're gonna go into tools touchscreen is such been so nice we're gonna go into manual and we're going to go Zed - okay so Zed - what's happening is now the you see the you can see the build plate is now being raised up so you have to raise it up enough so that you can pull that last piece of foam up so the last piece of foam out so I've just raised it up and now taking the foam out and the unit is ready to get all the filament added and get some test print going so next up you have to install the two extruder brushes and these are wire brushes to brush off any excess filaments and we can set that up as to when they get used you can only install them in one way because there's two attachment points here one's thicker than the other one so the only way can I sort install the brush is this way this is brush number one on the left hand side and you need to do the brush number two on the right hand side as well next up you have to install the filament bins there's one on the left-hand side as well as one on the right-hand side now if you haven't already after taking the foam out of the bottom reduce a lowered your bed you need to go back into settings and reduce your bed down so you can fit these in simple connection as to mount points move it across to the left-hand side sit it on there and gently push it down so that's been number Y installed you need to do the same thing on the right hand so next up it's time to install the filaments now what you need to do is there's two guide tubes here this is an opportune number one pull the left hand side and tube number two for the right hand side we're gonna start we're installing filament on the left hand side first so what you do is pull the guide tube free it starts sitting like this so when the filaments pushed through you can see it come out the end now this is slightly different to the adventurer three where the filament is automatically loaded so let's put the filament on the side and start pushing it through that you so what I've done now is I've unboxed a violet one kilo spool of filament at one point 75 millimeter now I've taken the cover off I've now added the spool onto the spool holder key thing to note here is that on the left-hand side you're going to be running the spool anti-clockwise now what you can see is there is a filament feeder on the left-hand side here it's a sensor so what we're gonna do is we're going to gently start to insert it and now that's going to go up the guide tube and I can see it going up the tube now I can see the tube moving inside it and then yeah and so once it's fared up the tube will be able to come out and listen looking through the hole so there's a gap here you can see the tube it's the guy two tubes sitting there so what I'm doing is I'm just watching the filament go down the tube and then when it's starting to come out at the end I will stop okay so the filament is now fed completely into the guide a tube so next up it's time to install the filament into the extruders now what you can see is I probably have about 10 centimeters pointing out over above the guide tube because what you need to do is install the filament section first and then attach the guide tube afterwards so let's zoom in now and I'll see if I can take you through those steps what we're going to do is put the filament which is the violet filament here inside the left-hand extruder now you can see I've put put about 10 to 15 centimeters of filament over the guide tube and the guide tube is this clear tube here now what you'll see is there's a hole at the top here there's a hole here right at the top and that's where you're going to be putting the filament in and there's also a button now this button needs to be pushed down to get the filament inside the extruder now what we're going to do is we're going to gently push it into the hole add the button now push down and you'll see here that I can't push it any further right and I've had this a couple of times because we've been doing some test videos before him the trick here is that you let the button off a little bit and you'll see that the filament now is sliding I'm going to pull it up a little bit more the filament now is sliding easier into the tube and now that has definitely touched the bottom of the extruder now what I'm going to do is I'm going to pull it out and I'll show you how much filament is in there and they'll give you a guide to know how much you need to be putting into the extruder so let's pull all out now so here we go here I'll get a ruler out so we have about or what do we got I'd say about nine about nine and a half centimeters about nine and a half centimeters going into the extruder if you have less than nine are thick centimetres it's quite possible that you haven't got it into the hole completely so I said before pushing it in it's gone in and now I know that it is positioned in there okay so that filaments in there now I'm going to do is I'm going to lower the guide tube and push that in so the guide tube probably goes in about a centimeter and then hits a ridge inside the extruder and when you've got a position like that you know that you are now ready to go so now we have got the filament into the extruder we need to heat up the extruder and pull the filament and through to make sure it's all working okay I've put the spool cover back on make sure you do put the spool cover on because a spool can fall off at certain stages throughout the print so it's important at the spool cover on to spool covers on you're now going to tools you go to filament so now what you'll see is you'll see a load and an unload section now we're going to be focusing on the load section I've got the left extruder and the right extruder so I'm only I've only got filament in the left extruder at this point in time so I'm going to turn off the right extruder by just swiping across so it's now only left excluding extrude reset and I'm gonna press Start one that gets to the correct temperature 280 degrees Celsius the filament motor starts to pull the filament through and ejecting it out the bottom so I normally just eject out probably say 5 centimeters before I press the stop button so let's kick it off so can hear now the fan has commenced which starts to provide cooling to the extruder itself so it's me out here you go beeping noise and the filament will start to be passed through there you go you can see it coming out till them will start to be passed through the extruder so now once the filament is passing through and you can press done on the screen and what will happen is the filament will stop you can remove away any excess put it into the excess bin the next up you have to level the building platform so what you need to do is once again go into tools you need to go to the option there second one across which is in level and what it does first of all these are poems both of the experience so what you need to do then is select the extruder which you're going to use for homing so in this case here I'm gonna stick news I've been favoring a lefty screwed screwed us I'm gonna go with a lefty screwed up the president likes it lefties real make sure the nozzles are clean and object nozzles are definitely clean okay what's they're doing now is it's initializing so the nudist route is what's going to extrude tentative is going to move to the first point to verify the distance between the nozzle and the village place so this little player Senate bill plate moving up slowly now and then we're gonna see is extrude up and moving moving extremely moving across to level up okay so once it's done the first point it will say congratulations looks good I'm going to move on to the next point sit click okay so now goes to the next point okay so in this particular case here it is not level so it's saying turn the nut 225 degrees so we're going to go down to the bottom here these are the nuts which talked about Susan that number one number two and we're going to turn it 225 degrees okay so each white distance between the two white dots will see on their to 90 degrees dismiss between the white dot and the red dot is 45 degrees so I'm gonna have to turn this 2.5 these section so these 90-degree sections that is one then another half that's 225 degrees clockwise so I'm gonna press and verify it's going to do the check again yes when our we turned it correctly so now we can press ok to move on to the next point so here we go so it's saying wait it's out by a little bit so it's ask him to turn the nut 90 degrees clockwise we're going to do one section of the nut you turn it 90 degrees so one complete section clockwise then we're gonna press the verify button yes now I say congratulations we're now all good and it is levelled out so it's going to move to the next point now please level incomplete there we go finished so when you've done the press finish and the bed has now been successfully leveled and that's now homing the extruder so it's now home in the extruder the bed's now being lowered back down again so what I suggest is you do run the process again just to double-check on always a person that likes a double check just to make sure it's all okay and setup correctly because you would definitely want to make sure that bed is leveled 100% so one of the important things you need to do is make sure that you run the leveling follows the left extruder as well as the right extruder just to make sure both of them are leveled correctly what I found was that there was an adjustment I need to make on the right excluding as well so make sure you run the left extruder as well as the right extruder we then run the left extruder again just to double-check to make sure it's all leveled and I had no no additional adjustments required so now we've got a perfectly level bed next up we have to do the calibration the important thing is to make sure you've done the bed leveling before you start the calibration so what we're going to do is going to do this Zed X and then Y calibration what you will need to do is go into tools you need to go into setting you then need to scroll down one to far and then you'll see an option down the bottom there which is calibration so we're going to click on calibration so first up is the Z calibration so this is the Z calibration so I'm gonna go into Z so please wait was this Auto calibrates so remember here you need to have completed the bed leveling before you completed this step of the calibration so the Zed calibration covers the from the bed up to the extruder nozzle so this area here so that's the zed calibration so first up make sure the nozzles clean they are press okay now what you'll see is the bed is now moving up towards the extruder head so the bed moves up slowly towards the extruder head key thing here is to make sure you do not turn it off during its calibration step so now brings across the left extruder and dozens their calibration on the Left extruder as well and once it is complete what happens is that the bed will now lower back to its original position the printheads now move back into their original position and the Z access calibration has been completed successfully this was completed okay so now what we've got is we've done the Z access now we're going to do the X calibration which is the print in a print calibration of prints two lines you need to make sure that they are lined up together to allow you to do your dual prints or multicolor prints successfully so it's click X calibration what needs to happen here first is that the strudel heads need to heat up so gonna make sure the nozzles are clean again press ok the bed is going to raise up so we see now is that the - extruder heads heating up to 220 degrees and the build plate is heating up to 60 degrees what that means is it's just getting to the point where it can print two lines and these two lines and we're going to what you're going to use to make sure that the the calibration the X calibration is accurate so we've got two distinct colors we've got a orange and we have a violet so it should be quite clear to see where that those two lines printed to do lineup now this is what you want check this check the level in here and then go as close as possible but this is a perfect effect leveling it is directly on top of the other one and then violet has matched and blended in with the orange extremely well so in this particular case I'm going to say it is perfectly calibrated on the x-axis so what I'm going to do is we're gonna go to the next step of course the calibration is perfect are the lines aligned yes they are they're perfectly aligned in this case we could yes then press okay now that is X so what you need to do now is is we're going to move on to the wire calibration is we're going to take the filament off the bed take the filament off the bed and then we'll do the y-axis calibration okay so the final step now is to do the wire calibration I have cleared the bed so I've removed the filament from the previous calibration it's all clear and we're going to kick off the wire calibration now so it's going to the wire calibration see again is a printhead start to move the bed will start raising up and extruders and their bed will heat up and get ready for the Y calibration so we're going to make sure the nozzle is clean now here we go okay so now the extruder extruders will start the heat up and the build plate as well ready for the final calibration step it has been another great calibration print I'll get a photo because I can't capture it as clearly but that line has connected with the Purple Line extremely well under that there you go there's a join there so it's cards come off really well so that has been a successful print so we're now going to click next step lines are aligned press okay and we are all done that is it make sure you remove the filament off the printer bed before you move on to your first print so we're going to come back shortly and show you what this thing can do [Music]
