but these guys can play oh we're in for a good ones a day welcome back and thank you for joining me for another reaction video if you are near please don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification button then you'll get alerts from these go live today we're taking a look at a group called Paulo fear or Pelissier um and a song called goat they've been quite a few requests I don't know anything about them but I do know one thing and that is there are no vocals in this band it is strictly instrumental which is kind of exciting I don't think we've done any of those in the channel so far so yeah Bolivia or Paulo fear goats let's see what you got [Music] can you hear uncertain notes I'm gonna go back just a little bit can you hear on certain notes they got the sample that starting the song out and certain notes have been almost untuned so they start in tune and then they definitely kind of wave much like you would do on a guitar with a whammy bar if you pushed it too far and you get the overall melody and key for what they're doing with with the piece in its entirety but I think that's really interesting it's quite quirky and fun sounds a bit like a music box that's kind of old and not tuned in properly anymore [Music] sounds like whale noises under the ocean [Music] okay okay okay I was not prepared for this um for sure we're going back there obviously um Wow okay when you told the song is gonna be an instrumental what group does instrumental work you expect the musicianship to be at a high level that was really really good and so interesting I've not heard anything like that and a lot of what he's doing there is easy is including which is super difficult to do it in in intricate picking pieces is playing harmonics and that's kind of where you you're not actually hitting down on a fret you're kind of guarding just above the metal line that separates them and you can end up nicking the string and it provides this artificial harmonic if you will and then you can end up playing other notes while that still resonates and that's kind of the beauty behind this piece it's super hard to do at the best of times when you're when you're playing a just as a regular song a song without as much intricate detail and but these guys can play oh we're in for a good ones a day that's clean drives you [Music] okay um this is blowing my mind not even a minute in okay so what I really like about what's happening with the drums and the bass they start with the drums okay so the drummer is and he's playing a very broken up beat since I the only way I can refer to it as a broken up beat it's it's doing just enough to hang on to the essence of being a completed loopable beats but he's breaking it up with a lot of intricacies particularly on the hi-hat and that adds an almost uncertainty or extra dynamic to what is already an unfamiliar sound to me so it's all working together it's all kind of different and I'm glad to see it's not just the guitar doing that work it's everything else the basis is doing probably one of the best examples of what I could describe as a purposeful playing he's only playing when it really matters he's creating gaps in the music for the guitar to shine he's helping the kick drum with the support but he's been really purposeful in what he plays and it shows the minute it all came in together they're just everything as busy as the song is everything has its place this isn't this is incredible video [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music] okay so um I love how this is shots going up and down like almost between levels in this church I think it's a church and oh wow okay so something I thought I've spoken about before but I could not have picked a better moment to talk about this now it's guitar personality both those guitarists were basically tasked with playing quite similar that that initial piece you heard with the harmonics that was kind of you'll I'd want to say your verse because at the moment when it's this kind of song Leon it's not really broken up like that but let's say for the purpose of this that it was a verse piece and they were each plane essentially the same various bees but they were given a clean templates to put their own personality on now there are certain moments particularly when they hit those harmonics and they're driven in that groove where you know it's the same piece per tick and also because of what the the drummer and bassist are doing in the background but it just shows you how differently they handle that and how when they provided the opportunity how they add their own personality on what they're playing these guys are incredible and also just a note on the drums the drums are they it's weird it sounds like a live kits but it doesn't if you listen to particularly the snare drum and the kick drum is a lot of compression on it but it sounds almost like this slides and not manipulation but things like this weird things you can do like affecting the gate or over compressing where it gives it more of a digital almost sample sound to it but then what he's doing at the simple sound superraw so it kind of balances out it's it's all working honestly this is crazy [Music] that guy looks like young it's just they're so good how is even walking around doing this I wouldn't be able to sit and breathe and do this never mind anything else I'm going back here because I want you to listen to you while he's doing this awesome job of slapping and I kind of pop in their face and shout out Victor roots and one of the originators or at least a double double double tapping listen to the drums the way that he's playing again this almost awkward almost off the beat syncopated and slapped to some of the notes but the drummers and him are kind of perfectly aligned but have a listen to the drums and the drive on the bass and you'll hear what I mean about sometimes the drums sounding a bit digital I think it's perfect though I think it shouldn't have been done any other way so I can't complain but it's really nice [Music] sounds like an electronic kids [Music] now you got so there's definitely samples I'm going back because I want to see this drama blast it but there's a there's definitely samples you've got that don't don't don't don't don't don't don't so there's different samples and these kind of effects like a wine like of morrow at the end of certain notes that have been played in and it's a credit to ever mixed engineered and edited this thing because it would have been a nightmare to look at those layers awesome job [Music] what you just did over the symbols that Justin students that's something you traditionally here in like African kind of not hip-hop but like quite and stuff like that there's a is really nice with instances due to that kind of that's kind of that beat that's what it reminds me of when I was growing up so I'm I love that but I love I didn't overplay it he wasn't trying to do a million fools and crazy double bass he just did what the other guys have done so far he's showing off in a completely different way it's anything I've seen it's phenomenal [Music] [Applause] [Music] possibly one of the best surprises I've had on the channel so far incredible masterful musicianship the instruments become extensions of the people at some point this is this is where it gets to there it's no that's I know it sounds stupid cheesy and stuff but it doesn't matter it's not really a guitarist in done playing the guitar it's just a guitarist who's kind of he doesn't end until the guitar ends I don't have to explain it's all connected it's you cannot play another thing to be to be an important thing to say is when you look at something like this and you're a new guitarist or forget new if you're a you know accomplished guitars and you look at something like this so easy to get despondent and go you know look how amazing they are like it seems so unachievable it by no means am i saying you know knuckle down and you'll get there in a week but you have to understand they clearly have a musical ability and and and that ability floats to lots of people but what they are demonstrating there is nothing short of a product of countless hours of hard work and dedication a lot of that is just just absolutely practice practice practice muscle memory and I'm like excuse me at please late they have an incredible inability and mind the way they mind which to write these kind of things that's you know just but don't get respondents use it for motivation and create your own thing do what they've done be different and if your guitarists are there and you see this kind of thing I know sometimes it feels like you have a million miles away I kind of feel like that right now but just they are so good Wow I'm fanboy and quite hot over that now I will hundred percent listen to more of this it's just a matter of which song next so you let me know if you like this I have a feeling that a lot of people on this channel are going to enjoy this one because because I did and I think we we like similar things at least mature yeah that was awesome man that was so so cool Felicio Paulo fear however you said I'll figure it out I could not be more impressed and I absolutely loved that one such a funky B and had to carry a song for three and a half minutes with no vocals but to be so fresh so constantly you know without having that extra added layer of of focus for for listener and the the vocal that was really cool like that a lot we'd love to see that live god yeah there must be a nightmare to play alive absolute nightmare and love that one appreciate you spending time with me as always so until the next one please be safe be nice to each other and ever damn good [Music]
