we are here to praise god we are here to cast all of our cares all of our worries our frustrations everything on him and allow him to flow in us so i'm inviting you tonight prepare your hearts prepare your minds because god is ready to overflow in each and every one of your lives let us pray heavenly father happy sabbath i'm so thankful to be able to have made it here despite all of the trials the tribulations the temptations god you have granted all of us the opportunity to be able to be in your presence and i want to say thank you lord tonight we're asking that you would fill us up till we overflow we want to run over jesus it's not just the phrase that we you know we hear the psalms as saying but lord it is something that we are truly after father so many of us have different needs and concerns tonight that we are you know struggling and battling with however lord we need to see you so we're asking that you would fill us up may we overflow and pour into someone else's cup be with like that alright so this evening we are here with our guest speaker for the whole weekend it is young adult weekend and we have here pastor marvin clark all the way from the salem sca church pastor clark welcome yes all right we're going to get there we're going to get there it should be good now so pastor clark is excited to be here this weekend why because he is a man of god that really appreciates young adults and so pastor clark welcome all right it is a privilege to have you here tonight we really want to get to know pastor clark for those of you who don't know he's been in south florida for about two years serving at the salem sca church and in that capacity he moved from california here right when the pandemic was at its highest and so we're going to hear his testimony about how that transition has been so if you're watching again go ahead share share share because someone needs to know that it's first friday so i'm gonna wait i'm gonna give you some time to share i'm gonna give you some time to text a friend because we are digital disciples individuals who are here to spread the gospel of jesus christ so i know you're excited you're watching live and i know god has been good to you and so let's hear from pastor clark pastor clark how are you doing tonight i am well thank you so much for having me here so tell us about the west coast because you've been you were passing on the west coast and now you're here in south florida tell us a little bit about that journey and how was it pastoring and how different it is to pastoring here on the east coast yeah for sure it was a privilege for me pastoring out in the oakland california area the northern side of california it was a blessing there are so many different uh cultures out there as well just like here the people are very passionate about the lord but i did feel the need to make that transition after spending some time with the lord but i will say in terms of worship in california there's a freedom there there's an understanding of the importance of coming to the building and being obedient to the spirit and the will of god it doesn't mean that you have to have much going on at church people just show up they understand the value of that and so that's something that's very powerful here i think there's a lot of different things going on there's a climate that's different there is a turn up here yeah yeah yeah yeah so so we're trying we're pushing but we know it's god's will for us to be here and so we're just putting our best foot forward and letting the spirit do what it does amen and you know what there's a there's power in community obviously and i think that's what you were alluding to that people flock to the house of god because they want to connect with their community and and like-minded believers so pastor clark tell us a little bit about when did you hear the call of god on your life like when was that do you remember when that particular time was when you actually heard god calling you into ministry i sure did so i was attending a school called crawford adventist academy in toronto in canada that's where i'm born and raised and so while i was out there i remember feeling the urge and the push to entertain ministry but that wasn't my desire i wanted to do business and so i was headstrong i went to oakwood university studying business believing that that's what i wanted to do opposed to what it is that god was calling me to do interestingly enough uh danielle i gotta tell you that i i suffer from dyslexic uh declassism so there's times where i'm reading and i would notice that the words are jumbling but i didn't notice that until i went to oakwood and so while being there i found out a lot about me and that includes my spiritual journey and so when i felt god nudging me showing me that there's more from me i said all right i'ma trust you and i haven't stopped trusting him until this day so the lord has been good wow wow so what do you say to young adults who have a disability or who have feeling they have a disadvantage in life and there is a calling on their life but there's also a heavy cross to bear or there's a disability for example what message do you have to that to that young adult that's out there yeah i would say what you see is really not what it is and what i mean by that is sometimes when we look at something we're looking from our own personal experience or from what we're hearing from others friends family members but i want to encourage you tonight to believe in who you are and who god has called you to be it's more than that individual sitting on the couch sitting at the dining room table messing with video games or xbox or whatever it is or on snapchat or instagram god is calling you to rise to another level there's no better time than now so i'm not i'm gonna really charge you tonight to not get caught up in the thrills and chills of people's conversation but to really focus on who it is that god has called you to be because the best is truly yet to come i believe for all of our lives the best is yet to come i believe that well hold on now on pastor because you setting it off quick we want to give you a moment to sew because pastor clark is going to be with us all weekend he's going to be preaching the word tonight also tomorrow morning so you definitely want to tune in as you know giving is such an important part of our christian walk and this is the first sabbath of september guys we made it to the ninth month of the year so on your screen right now there is cash app praise and worship in our conversation a little bit how important is it for us to really make time like for example young adults college students often don't have the time to really make time for worship how important is it for us to really make that time to come before god on a daily basis yeah it's it's vital it's essential it's imperative i mean you just alluded to the fact about sowing a seed and so if you don't sow a seed if you don't make that deposit then you can't make that withdrawal and so every day every opportunity every chance you get you should be a living worship testimonial individual what that means is is that you're acknowledging who is giving you strength who is giving you life but you're also sharing it you're not just having a shout hallelujah time all by yourself but you're literally letting someone else your neighbor your friend your frenemies whoever it is you're letting them know that god is good and by doing that it does something for you and then you're being obedient to the will and the spirit of god so what's necessary every single chance you get let worship be something that you do every single day [Music] that's a must so before we get to our last question before we transition into the sermon i want to encourage our online audience to share share we want to get as many people watching live as possible so go ahead and be a web worshiper tonight and share so if there was one piece of advice that you can tell your younger self you know someone that you know you've i'm sure you've been through a lot you've experienced a lot in your life if there is one piece of advice you can give your younger self what would you what would it be let our audience know you know i've i've had some really interesting experiences in life and um if there was one thing i'd like to tell my younger self i would say to believe and be bold and walk in it i think sometimes many of us as young people were questioning our young adults you know if we should do this and sometimes the lord is screaming yelling and giving you all the opportunities but we refuse to touch the door uh matter of fact auntie ellen that's what i call her she she once said in one of her prophetic books she says that there was a room filled with gifts and when she asked what are all these gifts doing in the room god said these are the gifts i have for my children if they just ask for it and so we have stuff um but we're not using it we're not calling on god to really give it to us and so i would tell myself to believe be bold and walk in it believe be bold and walk in we're gonna shoot right into the word like a helicopter so we can see what god has for us on this first friday night if you've been so kind enough to have a copy of your bible with you i want to first invite you to turn with me to the book of genesis that's the first book of the bible the old testament genesis chapter 22 and we're going to be looking at verses 1 through 13. genesis chapter 22 verses 1 through 13 and this is what the word of god has for the young adults on this first friday night here at mount pisgah the bible says now it came about after these things that god tested abraham and said to him abraham and he said here i am then he said take now your son your only son whom you love isaac and go to the land of moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering no one of the mountains on which i will tell you verse 3 so abraham got up early in the morning and saddled his donkey and took the two of his young men with him and his son isaac and he split the wood for the burnt offering and set out and went to the place on which god had told him verse four on the third day abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance that abraham said to his young men stay here with the donkey and i and the boy will go over there and we will worship and return to you and abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son isaac and he took it in his hand the fire and the knife so the two of them walked on together verse 7 isaac spoke to his father abraham said my father and he said here i am my son he said look the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for the burnt offering verse 8 abraham said god will provide for himself the lamb for the burnt offering my son so the two of them walked on together then they came to the place of which god had told him and abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood and bound his son isaac and laid him on the altar on top of the wood verse 10 and abraham reached out with his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son but the angel of the lord called to him from heaven and said abraham abraham and he said here i am and he said do not touch or reach out your hand against a boy and do nothing to him for now i know that you fear god and since you have not withheld your only son from me verse 13 our final verse for our samonic spotlight on tonight then abraham raised his eyes and looked and behold behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns and abraham went and took the ram and offered up as a burnt offering in the place of his son for the next few moments my brothers and sisters in christ my young adults we want to chop it up it's going down like four flat tires in the somatic spotlight today and i got to tell you the word that i want to share with you today is entitled don't miss this thing you might want to tweet this thing or put this on the ground here it is in these days you don't need drip but you need the oil all right you don't need the drip but you need the oil and so let's pray together father god move as you see fit in jesus's name amen we have been taught in life that we always want to fake it till we make it we've been taught in life that even when you don't have it you got to look like you got something close to it we've been taught that even if you can't pray right just pretend to pray right so that you look the part we've been taught even if your money is funny and your change is strange do what you will at the end of the day you gotta somehow pretend to look like you got it even when you don't have a thing but i want to suggest on tonight as we dive into god's word that's a very dangerous thing to pretend it's a very dangerous thing to look the part but not have the truth that we need it's a very dangerous thing to act some way when the truth is you are not in a world just acting because when life gets tough when difficulties come your way when challenges come knocking at your door okay let me put it this way when hell comes into your space you cannot act anymore the real deal the real mccoy it shows up and so that's why the preacher tonight has a problem when individuals suggest that we should fake it till we make it that we should just pretend that we have it together and if you're wondering where we are we just landed the plane into the text for tonight for the bible says there's a man who is finding himself in a good situation enjoying the blessings if you will the bible says that the lord blessed abraham and his wife sarah with a beautiful bouncing baby boy named isaac and if you look at the text you'll understand back in those days if you had a blessing of a baby boy into your life it was a good thing you'd be used to help out in the land you'll be used to carry the name so abraham was feeling this thing on top of that the bible says that abraham was blessed with this because it was a promise of god and so right here you can say it you can tweet it you can hashtag it feeling yourself feeling yourself abraham was feeling himself he was excited he was bold he was blessed and in the midst of all that he was going through he had to realize here it is that if he was going to be who he said he was he could not just act it but he had to really be it [Music] because at the end of the day whoever you are will surface and people will see if you are who you say you are it looks like i got maybe 10 of you feeling that word right there so i'm gonna go ahead and grab an illustration place it in your lap so you can understand it grab it hold on and seal it in your life here it is it was some weeks ago i was enjoying something called ginger tea yeah i said ginger tea and i love ginger tea every now and then it's one of my uh hot teas of choice and on this particular day i found myself sipping on some ginger tea sipping on some ginger tea somebody will get that tomorrow and as i was sipping on some ginger tea i found myself just about to put the tea bag in the hot water before i started to enjoy my my ginger tea and i realized the tea bag out of nowhere wanted to have a conversation with the preacher and the tea bag said marvin and i said yes he says do you realize what's happening i said no he said you're about to put me inside some hot water i said i know that he said well watch what's going to happen when you put me in the hot water he said when you place me in the hot water whatever's inside the tea bag is going to come outside the tea bag because at the end of the day over in mount pisgah at first friday to the young adults they need to know that when you get in a hot water situation whatever is inside of you will come outside of you that's why some of us can have church early sabbath morning feel the holy ghost shout hallelujah but when somebody cuts you off on the 95 you start speaking in an unknown tongue that's because what's inside of you will come outside of you so that's why abraham is being tested you don't believe me the bible says that the bible says verse one now it came about after these things that god tested abraham some of y'all ain't feeling that so i need you to go ahead and join the preacher and preach this thing with me now it came about that after these things that god tested place your name in there god tested you and he said to him abraham he said here i am then he said take now your son your only son whom you love help me holy ghost isaac and go to the land of moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which i will tell you now if you ain't bothered by this something's wrong with you you might be holy ghost filled water baptized but at the end of the day it ain't right for the lord jesus christ to tell nobody who's been serving his people that i'ma take the very thing you love matter of fact to add insult to injury sometimes preachers walk over the fact that abraham and sarah they named their chun isaac come here come here come here why is that important because isaac in the hebrew is why is that important because yet check is translated as laughter what are you saying preacher god blessed abraham and sarah with a child that they called laughter because god knew that they needed some joy in their lives and so god blessed them with laughter but here it is that god blesses them with laughter in chapter 22 but just a few verses and chapters before that god just blessed them with abraham i mean with isaac that is to suggest don't miss this that sometimes god will deposit something in you but to see if you really are who you are he might take it away that's a word for some of you right now because some of you all joined this thing called church you said you about your father's business because god rescued you from some drama in your life but now the truth is you've returned back to your evil ways and i'm trying to tell you today that if you don't get your life right if you don't do what you need to do at the end of the day god may take something that you love the bible says go to a mountain named moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering the bible says in verse three so abraham watch him he gets up early in the morning he saddles his donkey what a good brother and he took two of these young men with him and his son isaac and he split the wood for the burnt offering and set out and went to the place on which god had told him and on the third day abraham raised his eyes and saw in the place from a distance verse 5 then abraham said to the young man stay here with the donkey and i and the boy will go over there and we will worship and return to you we're going to park the car but keep it running because i need someone to understand notice if you will god told abraham go to this mountain called moriah i'll tell you exactly where you need to be but i want you to take now your son because i want you to offer him there as a burnt offering a sacrifice and the bible says watch it abraham doesn't get up at 2 30 in the afternoon preach black man i'm trying to abraham doesn't get up at four o'clock in the evening the bible says abraham gets up early in the morning doing what it is that god told him to do even when he doesn't want to do it the bible says he gets up early saddles a donkey and takes two young men with him and his son and he goes to the place hold up wait a minute the bible says god said take your son god never said take the two boys and the donkey all right come here let's dance the bible says abraham takes the two boys and the donkey and the reason for it don't miss this thing is because abraham at the end of the day was hoping and wishing and begging in his spirit that somehow god would have taken one of these two lads instead or the donkey but the bible says bless the name of the lord in verse 5 the bible says and abraham said to his young men stay here with the donkey and i and the boy will go over there and we will worship and return to you here it is i want to deposit this into your spirit here it is stay here with the donkey and i and the boy i and isaac will go over there and we will worship the reason why abraham comes to his senses and suggests you stay here with the donkey is because abraham realizes here it is that when you worship you got to be careful who you have around you when you worship you got to be careful who's why because at the end of the day if these two lads saw abraham about to take his son's life they would have somehow interrupted what it is that god called him to do and so sometimes in life you gotta tell people to stay over there while you go over there and worship preach marvin i'm trying to there's some people that are around you that's limiting your worship you're more worried about your boo and your baby instead of the god who kept you today we need to learn to focus on our master our savior our provider our father our healer the wheel in the middle of the wheel the lily of our valley and the pride and morning star we gotta learn to focus on god because there ain't nobody and do you like jesus ain't nobody can wake you up in the morning and set your feet on solid ground but the lord himself [Music] the word says word says in verse 4 on the third day he raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance then he said to the young man stay here with the donkey me and the lad are gonna worship and will return to you here it is you have to have some real oil and not just drip when you say we're gonna go worship and come back to you god never told you that you're coming back with your son but you believe it and you start declaring it what you trying to say i need some young adults that may not have the answer they want but they are so bold they are so blessed they are filled with the oil and not with just drip and they can declare it to the point where they believe it and they say it even though god told them something else somebody gonna get this thing the bible says verse seven isaac is walking with his father and now isaac speaks up and he says to his father he says i i i see you with the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for the burnt offering abraham says god will provide for himself the lamb for the burnt offering my son and the two of them walked on together here it is i want to plug something into some of my young adults who are parents right now you know sometimes i want you to see this in the text sometimes we can get very quick to say some things that are not necessarily true we say things to our children because we believe that we can trick them into believing something when we don't really have the answer the bible says that abraham asked abraham's son ask him a question and he doesn't have the answer but he doesn't create an answer he merely says god will provide what are you saying pastor there's times where your children are going to ask you something young adult parents and your job isn't to fake it it isn't to pretend it isn't to add your version if you don't know guess what the lord will provide period because your child will start realizing that your faith is in god and not in your intellect or what you think you know we need to learn to lean back on the lord somebody will get that tomorrow we need to learn to lean back on our savior we need to learn to trust in god why because god was here way before you were here trust the god that has kept you the bible says then they came to the place which god had told him and abraham built the altar then arranged the wood and bound his son isaac and laid him on the altar on top of the wood anybody seen this thing like an hbo movie anybody got a problem with the actor named isaac you are younger than your daddy you could have looked at your daddy and said daddy you lost your mind you gonna say daddy you tripping all the way you could have said bro but the bible says no dialogue takes place isaac merely assumes the position and i questioned that situation i was troubled with it because i knew in my mind if it was me my daddy tried to tie me down i would have turned into jackie chan come on and join me in that chat real quick you would have turned into somebody else an elbow there you would have kicked your way off of that thing but the bible says isaac laid down and here it is young adults the reason why he lays down is because he is at a point in his life that even when he doesn't understand he trusts his daddy who understands because his daddy trusts his father up in glory that's it right there we need to learn as god's people that even when you don't understand if you're a parent that's living right doing right if you're a parent that your child is watching you be obedient to god's will even when they don't understand they'll do it anyways and trust the god that they're watching you follow we got no excuse we have been called to take this thing to another level it ain't about the drip it's about the oil my brothers and sisters and abraham is showcasing i got the oil the text says verse 10 abraham reached out with his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son but the angel of the lord called to him from heaven and said abraham abraham and he said here i am verse 12. he said do not reach out your hand against the boy do not do anything to him for now i know that you fear god since you've not withheld your only son i want to go to verse 13 because i want you to get this thing then abraham raised his eyes and looked and behold the hit behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns and abraham went and took the ram and offered up as a burnt offering instead of his son all right here it is see the drama if you will abraham lays his son on the altar he's about to take his son's life he's doing what god told him to do in other words at this point and juncture in abraham's life he realizes if he only had the drip he couldn't make it where he is right now some of us really want to get blessed we want certain things in life we want to make it in life but we are confused believing that the drip is more valuable than the oil abraham is now standing in front of his son about to take his son's life and the bible says it's only when abraham is at the right place thank you holy ghost doing the right thing at the right time does god say stop now i believe what are you saying pastor i'm trying to tell somebody that some of us are not at the right place doing the right thing at the right time and that's why god is not responding to you it ain't that god doesn't see you it's that you're not at the right place just yet we are comfortable here it is we are comfortable staying at home and clapping our hands or typing in the chat room but god wants us to take our faith to another level he doesn't want you to hear the word he that was confusing to me because when i was looking at the text trying to preach this thing i said to myself hold up lord he came up the mountain which means he should have passed the ram on his way up the mountain some of y'all feeling this thing already he went up the mountain so on his way up the mountain he should have saw the ram so he could have said oh let me look behind me and know there's a ram already there but the bible says that it's only don't miss this when he got to the right place doing the right thing that god called him to do that after that was done and completed god provided something else to be sacrificed and where was it behind him here it is there are some things we believe that we have lost that we can't grab that we can't get because we have passed the time but i'm here to tell you there's no time with jesus christ because god will appear what it is that you need if you're doing what it is that he called you to do the bible says that abraham turned around and there was a ram caught in the thicket the ram was caught in the thicket by its horns what does that mean preacher notice that the ram uses his horns to fight off people but god made sure that practice that present that thing was wrapped up ready for abraham he didn't have to fight with it because guess what there's some blessings that don't want to be your blessings but when god is brothers and sisters in haiti you see what's going down in louisiana and orleans you see what's happening across this world we are suffering we are going through tragedy many people are losing their lives with the pandemic i need you to know if there's ever a time we need to have the oil it's now it ain't about the drip ain't nobody watching you up in your house with this pandemic you got to learn how to pray so when the doors open up you ready like freddy you ain't worried about no drip you got the hockey openuma the holy ghost that will lead you and guide you to greater things but with you saying i don't want the drip i want the oil if you need that oil in your life so you can be a better version of yourself watch this you might be a good husband but you ain't a great husband you got the drink cause you look the part but you need the oil to be the part you might be a very nice wife but you ain't that true wife because you've been focusing on the drip paying attention to everybody else around you but the god who is giving you what you got get the oil you might want the cars oh help me lord in this place you might be getting the loans trying to fit in with everybody else but i'm giving you a news flash today a commercial break listen baba boo it ain't about that it's about the god that has a calling over your life so i'm suggesting to you today i double dare you i triple dare you under the spirit of the father son and holy ghost search for the oil let go of the drip tonight every head is bowed in every eyes closed god we're asking tonight that you will speak into our hearts speaking to our spirit lord there's some of us right now that are struggling when it comes to what it is that we want we're allowing outside sources to influence us we're watching people and watching things and listening to popular conversations trying to make money trying to do but lord you're calling us with the oil and sometimes the oil will provide that stuff sometimes asking lord that we'll divorce ourselves from some things that we have been sleeping with places we've been going conversations we've been having we can't use the same mouth and lips and esophagus and trachea and teeth to bless your name but curse one another help us lord not to be stimulated by emotion by the hippopotamus that comes across but help us lord to use the frontal lobe of our mind to reason with this thing called christianity i ask oh god that you'll cover us lord and cover our relationships and cover our children and cover our church and cover our community and cover our neighbors and cover even those we do not like why because you've called us to love so now god we ask for forgiveness and we open our spirits we open our bodies we open our minds we open our phones we open our bedrooms we open our our lives oh god to you asking lord to fill us with the oil not with the drip fill us with the oil of god let it overflow lord so we talk different we act different we're more humble we realize that this is not about us but always about you help us god to be a billboard of a blessing to someone who's in need not tomorrow but tonight help us lord to take up our phones and delete some people why because we want the oil help us lord to tell somebody i'm never gonna ever talk to you again why because i need the oil help us lord to raise somebody on facebook and delete somebody on instagram and remove somebody on twitter and throw out that conversation on snapchat help us god to understand the value of who we are we are fearfully and wonderfully made because we have access to the oil help us lord we come against the spirit of depression tonight we come against the spirit of distinction and feeling like you're all that and then some because you got a degree or you got some money or you live in a zip code or you drive a nice car lord we realize if we haven't realized anything else in this pandemic that it doesn't matter who you are what zip code you got much money you got it doesn't matter what kind of lineage you come from you are available to that thing called death so we want to make sure that before we go down in that grave help me holy ghost we say goodbye to loved ones before we're worried about our wills and our mortgages and our jobs and our houses and our relationships and our friends and our booze and our base before we're worried oh god but all those things that don't matter help us lord to be worried about the oil tonight speak over our families speak over our children speak over our young adults we ask oh god please in the mighty capable name of jesus christ and lord you will change us and transform us tonight that we will seek and search for the oil this oh god we pray in the wonderful saving grace of the name jesus christ our lord let all of god believers in the cyber sanctuary let me see you put your hands together let me see that icon we serve a wonderful god away maker we believe that he is truly the king of kings
