lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever a reading from the book of job jobs spoke saying is not man's life on earth a drudgery are not these days those of hillings he is a slave who longs for the shade a highly who waits for his wages so i have been assigned months of misery and troubled nights have been allotted to me if in bed they say when shall i arise then the night drags on i am filled with restlessness until the dawn my days are swifter than the waivers shuttle they come to to an end without the hope remember that my life is like the wind i shall not see happiness again the word of the lord praise the lord who heals the broken [Music] heart [Music] [Music] praise the lord for he is good sing praise to our god for he is gracious it is fitting to praise him the lord rebuilds jerusalem the dispersed of israel he gathers the lord he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their [Music] wounds he tells the number of the stars he calls each by name [Music] [Applause] [Music] and mighty in power [Music] to his wisdom there is no limit the lord sustains the lowly the weekend he casts to the ground [Music] praise the lord who heals the broken hearts a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians brothers and sisters if i preach the gospel this is no reason for me to boast for an obligation has been imposed on me and woe to me if i do not preach it if i do so willingly i have a recompense but if unwillingly then i have been entrusted with a stewardship what then is my recompense that when i preach i offer the gospel free of charge so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel although i am free in regard to all i have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible to the width i became weak to win over the week i have become all things to all [Music] to save at least some all this i do for the sake of the gospel so that i too may have a share in it the word of the lord [Music] [Music] uh [Music] ah [Music] the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark on leaving the synagogue jesus entered the house of simon and andrew with james and john simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever they immediately told him about her he approached grasped her hand and helped her up then the fever left her and she waited on them when it was evening after sunset they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons the whole town was gathered at the door he cured many who were sick with various diseases and he drove out many demons not permitting them to speak because they knew him rising very early before dawn he left and went off to a deserted place where he prayed simon and those who were with him pursued him and unfinding him said everyone is looking for you he told them let us go on to the nearby villages that i may preach there also for this purpose have i come so he went into their synagogues preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of galilee brothers and sisters the gospel of the lord and also to our brothers and sisters who are with us over live streaming and in the different media partners in tv and in radio my dear brothers and sisters right now at this exact moment how do you consider your life how do you view your life do you consider your life as a person who is blessed or the other way around that at this very moment you are experiencing a loss or you are in deep trouble or burdened because something happened probably you have lost someone that you loved a member of the family how despite of this that we consider us as a bad thing in our life or bad experience in our life how do you still consider your life or how do you still have relationship with god or how with beyond this my dear brothers and sisters how do we cope up with this kind of experiences [Music] we share it with our family we share it with our friends or sometimes we just keep it within my dear brothers ourselves sisters the entire readings for today in this fifth sunday in ordinary time and let us begin in our first reading my dear brothers and sisters first reading is from the book of job and this is just an excerpt of how job described his life and for us to have been hearing masses we are very much familiar with the life of job and remember he was a very prosperous person but he suddenly experienced a catastrophic one inexplicable loss of wealth family and health nawala friends try to explain it all as a divine punishment for some secret sin but by your brothers and sisters jo knows better he described life first as a drudgery meaning life is monotonous life is boring he kept on repeating the words god gives and god takes away and job remains with this philosophy or mantra that's the reason that kept him going with this kind of theology that god gives and god takes away the parakanatham feeling this is a kind of a worship fool kind of words [Music] but when we look at this very particular and we for example when we experience this kind of losses my dear brothers and sisters do we think to god as someone who took this away we will conclude at the end of the day that god is cruel god is a punisher god is cruel but if you are going to look entirely on the life of job at the last part [Music] m why these things are happening to him and at the end of the day he realized but he had a wrong perception of god that god is actually good the great lessons [Music] god is good let us see the fullness of this character of god who is very overwhelmingly generous the the moment that we experience next time a deep loss understand that god is in our side god is in your sight and he can bring light into even the darkest situation remember that god is with you and that is exactly what happened in our gospel for today and mother-in-law simon peter she was sick but then who came jesus jesus our gospel gives us a perfect image of who god is [Music] now it was described here that the entire day jesus was healing he preached and then when he went home to the house of simon [Music] so to seek for healing imagine god or jesus was doing and fulfilling his ministry the entire but here god is exactly showing to us god will do everything he ended his entire in that ministry to pray to find a place to pray with your brothers and sisters and another great lesson in our readings for today is we look back in our second reading from the letter of paul to the corinthians and actually the first letter of paul to the corinthians but despite now he this particular second reading teaches us if indeed guatemala experience of losses and we think and we consider our life as blessed that let us not be boastful for him he is already blessed because he became an apostle of christ but he was not boastful and that we could link and connect our life to paul also let me bless with your brothers and sisters our readings today is giving us an inspiration a guide on how to deal with losses and how to deal with being blessed and let this be our guide as christians is and let us all stand to profess our faith i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god born of the father before all ages god from god light from light true god from true god begotten not made from substantial with the father through him all things were made for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was the incarnate of the virgin mary and became man for our sake he was crucified under he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end i believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified who has spoken through the prophets i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church i confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come amen the father has given us new life in christ jesus who came to heal to forgive and to offer his life for us with confidence we pray lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer may pope francis our bishops and our priests continue to serve as steroids of the gospel and nourish us with the life-giving body and blood of christ we pray lord hear our prayer may government officials remember their duty to serve the people especially the poor without recompense or recognition for their us pray for the urgent concerns of our community and our personal intentions we pray lord hear our prayer listen to our prayers lord may our communities be aware of the needs of many of your people and teach us to strengthen one another and carry one another's burden we ask this through christ our lord amen today [Music] my memory [Music] is [Music] pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father oh lord our god who once established these created things to sustain us in our frailty grant we pray that they may become for us now the sacrament of eternal life through christ our lord amen the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for we know it belongs to your boundless glory that you came to the aid of mortal beings with your divinity and even fashion for us a remedy out of mortality itself that the cause of our downfall might become the means of our salvation through christ our lord through him the host of angels adores your majesty and rejoices in your presence forever may our voices we pray join with theirs in one chorus of exultant praise as we [Music] acclaim [Music] forever [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] you are indeed holy o lord and all you have created rightly gives you praise for through your son our lord jesus christ by the power and working of the holy spirit you give life to all things and make them holy and you never cease to gather a people to yourself so that from the rising of the sun to its setting a pure sacrifice will be offered to your name therefore o lord we humbly implore you by the same spirit graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration that they may become the body and blood of your son our lord jesus christ at whose command we celebrate these mysteries for the night he was betrayed he himself took bread and give you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ascended he took the chalice and giving you thanks he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of a new and eternal covenant which we poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith [Music] resurrection [Music] therefore o lord as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your son his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven and as we look forward to his second coming we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice look we pray upon the oblation of your church and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile to us to yourself granted we who are nourished by the body and blood of your son and filled with his holy spirit may become one body one spirit in christ may we give us a little offering to you so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect especially with the most blessed virgin mary mother of god with your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs and with all the saints who on whose constant intercession in your presence rely for unfailing help may the sacrifice of reconciliation we pray o lord advance the peace and salvation of all the world be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church pleasing to you at their passing from this life give kind admittance to your kingdom there we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory through christ our lord through whom you bestow on the world that is good through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever [Music] at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say [Music] me [Music] on earth [Music] and [Music] [Music] deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ [Music] lord jesus christ said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace
