Fiber Fairy Friday: October 1st

what's that you're not gonna embarrass yourself any more than you have in the past remember the first time was it the first time i introduced milo and i was like milo and then you just like came up from the from the floor in the middle we we've learned a few things since then you and i i just had to start out because it's birthday thank you and i think it's really important for everyone to join in i don't have arms that work so i can't really do like the drum roll but you say it's your birthday it's sort of my birthday too did you make that up no it's a song but you know that that's where i was going with what's the other one i always get 50 in my head hey sarah it's birthday we're gonna party like it's your birthday we're gonna sip a carty like it's your birthday we need a bottle full of bug that's why we didn't plan that this morning hey i thought i was gonna come here and there was going to be balloons and wine and wow i'm just kidding i got a tiara you look stunning i love my it's heavy i think it's real diamonds well i'm gonna we got all out for you sarah you're i'm going to hack it later all right i'm out all right thank you milo love you milo i wonder where kyla is [Laughter] kyla hey oh that good morning happy birthday thank you i'm having such a nice day i'm having like a birthday week we've had gifts arriving which i'm just like make me cry every single one beautiful thoughtful things and treats and flowers and plants so i'm feeling very loved very fortunate and surrounded by a lot of goodness there's a lot of treats that came in and a lot of chocolate i'm surrounded by dark chocolate and beautiful flowers you're getting along can you just can can can we just bring the flowers into the frame for one second it's pretty heavy probably so these are from faith who works here and you know i'm gonna drop it don't oh my gosh well that bottle's like wet and they're just stunning and i'm um i just keep glancing at them they're really pretty i don't know what this one is and if you guys know and i don't know what the um it this purple it's kind of fuzzy like it's they're fuzzy and i love the um rooster comb i think i'm gonna dry it i think i'm gonna try to dry it thank you you have a while now they're so so pretty you're gonna have to keep going without me i'll be back in a second oh okay i'm losing kyla thanks you guys i feel very loved thank you so we've had so much fun um i think kyle is going to get the bubbly i don't know what she's doing she just ran outside um we've had so much fun pulling the fiber fairy together and i have had a lot of fun making bats um and bats and bat bats and baskets so i'll tell you all about that in one second um but these there's some new techniques oh my gosh i've got more flowers oh my vase is coming back to me [Music] oh my gosh you did get more flowers these you don't have to worry about drying oh my gosh they're amazing there's been a lot of people busy oh my gosh sending you things oh i haven't and i have a corsage and oh i should have put my name tag on today i have a beautiful peony name tag these are incredible oh ooh i like the fern frond with the locks everyone you're gonna like oh and this is a tiny little each one they're all tagged with everybody oh oh my gosh i'm just going to cherish this forever oh look at the bird of paradise and the rose delisa everyone who did them um has a tag on oh my gosh you guys have to go through each one and see on the cat's tail oh look at this it looks like a peony this one oh gosh that's gorgeous i'm sorry i'm just sorry no more live stream i'm just gonna stare at these the orchids oh oh my gosh the little field mouse and the bee everyone is saying happy sarah day because they made it they made a group you guys i'm just and uh put together oh and look at this one that's like a a little like a bud kyla got me some beautiful flowers like i didn't even i didn't even know they were felted until they were right next to my face which doesn't that's here nor there it's just it's just that's what i love about making these is they just they just become like interpretations of of of flowers oh this purple one is lovely and i love these little these are the yarns yeah everyone when you look at you're going to look at and look at it again they're like this is going to be the longest um live stream ever because i'm going to i need a little lazy susan to just sit here and do this i i really i can't i'm just i'm a loss for words i can't tell you guys how special this is and unexpected okay i'll be back well now i feel bad for like bitching about balloons because i really don't i'm just happy to be here oh my gosh all right it's a perfect reaction oh my gosh i have i have so many like beautiful things in my home that have come from everybody and this is i really just have to find the perfect perfect spot for this there's a bunch of cards oh my gosh and i'm gonna point out okay now i'm just feeling like a little like a little awkward because i you know it's funny this is my gift that came along with your gifts because i made out like a bandit on your birthday and i would like to look at all the gummies oh my gosh they they know us my kid has been eyeballing these gummies he's like ma when is that live thing it's a lot of gummies you guys this is amazing i'm going to um just pour over everything another one look at seriously we can do this all day look at the oh i know so this was fun what's that oh yeah yeah that would be good the group new bag and marie the group knew about it they posted pictures there's a whole thing that you're going to get invited to so you can see what everyone's been planning so this is really fun it's a fabric made from um some of the things i like to say or that i say often i guess no coconut boobs is one of my favorites um oh good tiny fingers like i know that's sarcasm my right side is always lopsided that's completely true you might want to watch the video first definitely you guys i'm just uh it's gonna take me um the whole weekend i think to just you know absorb everything and um it's it's just i'm blown away i'm blown away here we can put that over there but um i mean i can't even talk about the fiber fairy now i'm just feeling glorious and i don't care oh who's calling me my mom [Music] doesn't she know you're live hi mom we're live but i wanted to i wanted to say hi yes i should have put you on speaker she said she called to interrupt fiber fairy friday to wish me a very happy birthday thank you i just received the most glorious bouquet i'll send you a picture and um it's all felted it's all flowers that are felted and i did it's just really really and they're all from different people yeah so i will i'll call you later okay bye-bye here we go here we go hey it's fiber fairy hot um i'm having some hot cider that was um here this morning along with fresh apple cider donuts okay are we just are you good i'm good do you need me to do anything talk say anything no i'm good we're going to talk about i thought you might be a little overwhelmed because it's i'm totally overwhelmed it's incredible but you totally deserve it and a lot of love came in these packages and in people's messages and we just appreciate you guys so much oh there's a calla lily in there so cool oh my gosh all right all right we're going to talk about firefair and then we'll just return to pleasantries um so this is a cool giveaway all i'm pretty sure all the fiber all the fiber that you need for the bat is in the giveaway i did also use black 22 gauge wires which are new and that armature you can see um in the pictures or here you want to do overhead john um as uh and i'll um i'll show the fiber in the overhead it'll be up oh i don't think you can see the flowers but i don't know if people are gonna be able to see our stuff um okay so this is the this is the bat armature sorry it's a little hard to see on the brown table this is the uh the black the new black wires and so that is really the only thing you need in addition i made tons of i made i think six sets of wings so far because i was experimenting and some of them i used hankies and some of them i used fur and some of them with you have to have wool also merino and some of them i just laid out merino and silks and that's what is in the um is in the giveaway so i'll show you that in one second but we have your three cores are the first three tiers and i think it goes black brown carob um but i'm not completely sure so super useful always useful core colors and ounce of each and i think the bats i made with carob but as you you'll see i'll show you guys the bat book a little bit um as you'll see i didn't even realize how many varieties of bats there are and how freaking ugly some of i mean it's sad it's nature but it is way creepy it's really interesting that like just the way like why does something look creepy to us you know what i don't know some of them are a little bit horrifying like the noses that's protruding yeah it has something to do with how they eat their sonars i don't know so um you can take your bat i was just doing brown and of course i was going for a little bit of a cute look the fruit bats or the fox bats have um have kind of cute faces but i know that we're gonna see your like take on this and you can go a lot of directions with color and the features and the wings and take a look at the wings because there's definitely you know distinctive shapes that they make and i i found that i liked the ones whose wings connected to their hind legs so just look around and you'll see what i mean okay so that's the first three tiers then the fourth tier is the coffee which i is what i used mostly in the wings but then it also can be blended into however you decide to make the top coat and i'll tell you about that in one second then the fifth tier is this bundle oh this is a bundle type it's a it's a big bunch it's a big bundle it's over two ounces and it has three silks and two merinos so it has also oh i'm sorry no it's even better than that it has bark or chocolate i think isn't chocolate chocolate darker i feel like it's barking you know what let me look at the let me look at our fiber fairy let me know what's in my own fiber fairy and then oh the baby brown um alpaca yeah so i specialty bundle i was wrong it's chocolate it's chocolate okay i think bark is just a little like warmer like a little um like this one's a little cooler and bark is a little richer so um okay so we have our alpaca our baby alpaca and this you could you could fur your bat entirely in this but i made a blend um and then the three silks are for wet felting the wings and you could put them in your fur blend especially this this tussa silk which is cinnamon i think i'm so in love with soft fruit it's like oxblood color and it's one of the ones i'm not usually a red person but i find myself wanting to throw this into everything it's so pretty along with sage is it say the sage tessa is another one that i'm just like what can i put that in so this is a really big bundle um of real of of cool things that work with the bat so like let's say you were going to work entirely from the fiber fairy and you wanted to make the fur i would blend these three things together you could put the coffee in there too but your merino your alpaca and your tusa silk and i believe that's what i did on this guy i might have put a little if i had fur i might have put a little bit of camel fur okay so the sixth tier is a raffle you know we usually do three it's just no no different we're doing three bat skits and they're cool hanging baskets um they have a little hardware that you could attach them to the wall or to the back of your workstation and have some um you know tools or wool in there and we got a lot of fun candy and we have the book i'm going to show you the book in one second and we have three bat bats one two three so the first one um i made is for the wings it's uh it's a merino silk blend that you could use for the wings so hopefully you guys can see that okay i feel like it's a little dark but then the second bat is seal brown which is one of the horse coats and it's just really perfect for the face features um it's it's it's even good for making shapes it's it's just the right the right color and the right texture for direct felting and then the third one is a fur merino blend for um for furring your bat and i really like some of the bats are like gold on their neck and then they go down to dark so that's kind of what i tried to do was create an array like a range that you could pull from and just use either the shingle or fur technique and get right to putting fur on your back so those are the lucky people that win those are the lucky people that win the the bat skip the bats get and i'll show you the book real quick can i i'm going to pull this one out i might mess the whole thing like some kind of plant look there's a lot going on with those ears and noses um but really this one like i said was like a highland cow in a past life they're wild um they're they're incredible and the book's awesome the book is awesome so i'm very very very pleased with the book i'll link it on our sarah's goods and faves yeah page and i mean you know bats it's not something i want to make all day long you know for the rest of my life but somebody might and they're just as unique and special as every other thing that we've made so for anyone brand new who's wondering where these items are donut though i don't need two um all right the sash people are enjoying this now okay good thank you for the sash sure let me talk for a second about the felt along and what that's going to look like because the felt lungs have since since our covid lockdown have kind of switched a little bit to a get-together and and basically like a live tutorial um so this one is going to be even more so that way because of the wet felting and of the time that it takes i've been stitching the wings on um so it's going to be a little bit cooking show style or i'm going to have i'm going to show the wet felting but i'm going to have a set of wings already done and i'm going to have a bat already with wings on because the sewing takes so long and then i'll show the fur and the face it's really very simple i've i this guy has um this guy has toes but you totally the one the fiber fair is holding does not have toes let me go to the overhead here and show a little bit a little bit closer it's on okay thank you so he's so cute um oh and i gotta talk about the power the power wax oh right yeah um so no toes here no tiny toes so you can totally modify and do it that way and i actually left the armature um that i'm including that way because i just i didn't know what you would want to do so you can open this up now if you're right-handed you're going to want to switch the hook over to the right but you can you can put toes on here if you're not putting toes i would just make the loop a little longer so that it it's almost like it has like toes you know that are closed together um and you can see up close maybe how i stitched the wings together and the first one i made i just felted it together and that works too um you know this is there's a lot of potential here for different techniques and i used a little bit of my wet felting for the ears so it goes armature wrap make your wings when the wings are done put sew them on and then fur because you're gonna fur right over the wings fur and face of course you could do the face at any point in there so i'm going to grab this guy down real quick and and show him too poor guys all stitched up um so this one i put the power wax on the wings and so what i'm realizing about this um wire to wool proportion is that the wool does override the wire a little bit so um i did make a 14 gauge bat but i felt like it just got too big um and maybe i can just include those dimensions on the felt along you know in case anybody wants to do that but the 14 gauge does give the wing give you a little more control over the wing like these i would have a hard time totally like folding him up or you know changing the position um how skilled do people have to be at sewing to sew the wings oh no i'm just i'm just hand stitching around the spine basically and what level would you say the bat is i'd say it's a two i mean it's it's it's complicated in the sense that we've got the wet felting and we're you know doing this different technique of sewing the wings on but um if you skip the tiny toes it's the there's nothing complicated in the body at all and the face comes together right super simply so so have some armature practice probably yeah under your belt yeah the armature yeah and the armature is just like our other armatures except instead of a hand he's got a wing as far as prepping someone said is there anything they can do to prep for the live felt along i would just suggest planning on um joining in have pencil pencil or pen and paper um to take notes as you watch along here's his little toes do you want do you want to hang him back up or do we just wanna um i don't know i feel like i kind of sh there we go um what was it gonna say something about oh the power text so cold wax i've used it in oil painting it's a it's a painting medium or a pigment medium and it kind of reminds me if you've ever used wax on your furniture or a furniture a furniture wax basically or a butcher's wax and then it'll dry and then you could buff it so it can get kind of shiny so i'm just at the it's not essential for the bat at all um i just was experimenting with it and i think it's kind of cool um how it changed the wet felted wing texture and we can try it um it's lighter than swags and a little bit easier to control not as powerful as swax so it's going to be interesting to play with it and try it over um i'd be curious to try it over something that is power text so like on the elephant tusk because the power text almost enhances the texture of the wool it goes into other hobbies that you might have different ways to use it you could put um you could put mica and like glitter into it and put it on something you know um you could put pigment into it yeah it's back yeah it mixes with um acrylic paint so there's there's a lot you can do with it and powertex has little tutorials on it but um if you look at the fiber fairy pictures in the newsletter or the post i feel like you could really see um on the inside of her bat cape wings the sheen like the leathery look that you oh so what happened on the fiber fairy one was i put brown pigment in it and i put way too much oh and so i feel like it looks a little muddy though it does it's cool look though well so yeah so we're just going to keep playing um i wanted to introduce it um because i'm not gonna i'm not gonna like take it to the extreme i just wanted to introduce it and let everybody start playing with it i don't have like a tutorial on it or anything like that so um so yeah so for the felt along i would definitely plan to watch take notes participate like with questions and stuff i think we could totally make the armature together like i'd love to make the armature together but then i think it's going to kind of take off and i just have to go at a pace to get it done within a reasonable amount of time some people are having a hard time seeing um the fiber just because they're the same color as the tables yeah grab a light lighter color pre-felt okay we'll go through the fiber again yeah it's a little dark right here hey john maybe can this light point let me move the fiber fairy yeah that's what i was doing earlier and then just um bend it and turn it thank you like push that this is prettier i don't know what it's going to look like oh okay we'll try oh yeah it's so pretty oh i didn't get out the um the new pre-felt yeah yay that should do it that'll be good it's not exactly light but it is lighter well i think white would then you would get two kinds of washed out yeah we are not at this point planning on bat kits but at some point um we'll have the items listed on the live felt along like in the description we can list which fibers you'd want and um we may do like a bat boodle or something like that down the line so the first three tiers are the black the brown and the carob core which everybody's fairly familiar with i think and then the fourth tier is coffee merino and the fifth tier is the pretty bundle with chocolate um let me get it set up here chocolate mourinho patience one patient says she can see i think maybe the cataract this is yeah that's what she said i'm not calling it's a double it's a double whammy bad lighting um brown on brown or triple whammy and uh cataracts um the baby brown alpaca the brown baby alpaca i should say and we have cinnamon tussaf i always have to touch it if you haven't gotten alpaca yet and we have fur tussa and we have a soft fruit um mulberry silk and then i'll show the bat bats one more time these are in the these are only in the raffle winners the three baskets we have the wing fiber that i blended and people would be able to approximate that blend with some of the fiber oh yeah definitely it's yeah as far as the the difference like i said i've used hankies i've done this is um seal brown horse coat for the face and this is the fur blend that i made which already has some merino in it for the body of the bat they're so pretty um if people want to get some things i think assuming they're not going to win the basket um is there anything they could get from the website that would kind of round this out a little more so yeah so on the bat that i made um i wanted to make one from the fiber fairy fiber so he's got um the cinnamon the cinnamon tussa the baby the brown alpaca and the coffee and i might have snuck a tiny bit of camel history his fur is so cute for in there and so in the fur line you know the camel i really like the irish is a little red um bison is nice but like i said look online they're all different colors some of them were almost like green and purple just i don't i'm not a fan of just black like i think it's it's it's sculpturally it's that's a tough one um but well given that they have so many fun colors like why you know you lose a good bit of detail yeah with all black and i made mine like over like over a little overly cute now he's got he looks like he's i don't know from a pixar movie or something this guy's more serious yeah he is he's like looks like a bat with a mission he's like an angry little bag it looks a little bit like milo for a while yeah um and then the other bat that's included in the giveaway is the seal brown yeah the seal brown horse coat so that is available on the website so between some fur um blending merino and some of the silks and that one you'd be you'd be good yeah the felt along is on the calendar um it is october 23rd like three saturdays from now and the only other thing you would need is um wire yeah and needles and a felting surface but most people probably yeah that at this point and wet felting so either the smaller the small wet felting kit would work you could do a set of wings i was doing three sets of wings on the big on the leather johnson kit actually i think i was doing one two maybe three sets of wings and just a little bit of felt for like years or whatever so yeah i wouldn't come to the felt along with all of your supplies ready to go because then you might be like slow down because she's not planning on teaching it in a work a long way which started mostly because of the wings because everyone's gonna need wings but the wings have to be put on before next step so right to do it in one session um we'll do it that way we've done some things in the past where we did you know three weeks it's just that was like a little bit there's a little more going on right now it's quick enough well like i don't have three weekends um you know three saturdays pretty short felt along to just yeah like do the wings in the aperture we should do something again soon where we work real time because that's always really fun and that's sort of the point of it so um and the wire you did make one with 14 gauge wire but that was even too big so the 22 gauge is what was used we have 22 gauge black um now available it's in that it's in that box grab what the 14 gauge bat i never finished it oh he's big yeah so this one's about six inches and this was me um just sorry i'm so sorry that's right this was me just experimenting with the um with the wings and the armor dresses and the um the wax i really it's really fun like it's really cool but this one i didn't stitch as much i felted it and i've got like bad like patching oh you know what else i did that um helps you can see right here the change between where it's waxed and where it's not just kind of interesting to see and you don't you don't have to wax it like just you know leave it leave it fiber if you wet felt your wing really well with the silk it's gonna look smooth and shiny yeah um but yeah this guy's more like eight inches nine inches um i used an iron and some brown paper parchment paper after the wax just to make sure like it was really pressed in to remove any extra because the extra might build up to a little like opaque um like a little white spot and so when you iron it with the paper it like lifts it back out so we only had about not even 50 of the waxes and i just went to link it for someone um there are five left so there are more on order there are more earlier this week they just we thought we would have we thought we would probably even have them we hope that we would have them but we'll get more we'll get more but it is coming yeah there's a button on the a link that you can click that says email me when back in stock so if you get on and you see that the wax is out of stock you can put your email in and when we add more you will get um oh okay oh so where's my flowers uh okay they're there yeah it'll automatically email you when we add more to stock unfortunately we're seeing a little and i think this is in a lot of different industries but um there's shortages and delays delays we're having um we might have some fiber delays and we've been all right so far but we're doing okay uh but that is just it's just happening everywhere and um prices are going up there's just you know but we we're you know we have a lot we can do with what we have so we're good oh this is just so pretty sabine yeah i would really feel like a princess if i got this one i'm going for it it's not often you get to wear these kinds of things especially since i've always been a tomboy what were the tiers again for the fiber fairy the top tier without the raffle um needs to be at least 85 correct nice thank you um why thank you exactly with your with your with your crown yes 85 and then so if you have an 800 order of items not including shipping you would get the fiber that you would need for the bat and then over 100 you get a chance for the basket this wax yes is water-based yeah it's water-based so i also did a set with my oil base that is just awful so super cool that it's water-based there's there's no there's no flammability there's no um smell um and you can wash everything with soap and water there's a request for the queen's wave i don't i don't know yes like i said i'm not practiced in these things i think it's just it's a little bit like this actually isn't it when i watch it the new pre-felt is not available it is being made as we speak should we show it we could show would you guys like to see it let me see if i can walk with all my faces with your corsage and your sash and your crayons the tripod for us i feel like elf all right you you nailed the wave oh the machine's on all right we got we got it's one of those oh yeah oh that's the whole stack yeah all right it's gonna take us a few weeks to get these pre-felt done but sassy and dante are carting each day for hours on end to make the bats and then um running the danger of showing you now these are not the final ones these are the uh the sarah and faith carded these and ran them through the felting machine ones the final ones are being made on dante and might have a little tweak but this gives you oh my gosh wait till you see [Music] so the inspiration is from painting um when i oil paint i really like to usually i like to get rid of the white so when you glaze a color on that's called imprimatura and so it's just giving you a place to start and because dante's italian because i have italian roots and because just because um because there's a lot of um tradition in you know europe and italian in painting we're naming them all italian words which we are going to force you to say [Laughter] and i don't have them all the names um nailed down but um this one was maybe the word for parchment which now i can't remember let me get these where you guys can see them that's this one it's like just a beautiful linen color kind of and what's cool is because they're pre-felt um you could even pull it apart like let's say you were doing a landscape and you wanted to start with a dark sky and a light before you could you could pull them apart and put them together yeah and we felted them to a degree that we feel like um it's going to give you a good start not too felted that you can't wet felt into it but felt it enough that if you were going to needle felt you could just start stabbing and it wouldn't take too much further okay so that's the first one this is fresco i think this color is a little different in currently um so just a great soft blue just get you started on that one patient said grandpa is beaming somewhere oh well we're i think we're calling um the felting machine josephine which was my oh my grandmother uh this is i think dorado which is uh gilded or gold this is my favorite one to say it's fumato um it's just like smokey like a glazing technique paisaggio is the landscape so just says i love this like it's just a yummy sort of muted green lusoria maybe i think um it's a very rich red and i'm a little like these aren't even as good as the real ones so they're gonna be better mm-hmm okay they look pretty on the screen yeah cenopia is a sepia carbonate is a graph like a carbon or a graphite we have someone from malaga oh am i doing okay oh it's faith um i'm saying this i've actually been to malaga i haven't been to many places but malaga is one of them cool you have to tell me about that i believe this is panova it's the word for peacock okay uh which is not a painting term but it's a beautiful color and not one of the ones that's not too hard to say how thick is this pre-foam oh i have to i'll have to like give you uh these aren't the right ones um so i will nail that down um for you guys and i'm not exactly sure how to do that right i'll figure it out um it's probably about an eighth between an eighth and a quarter of an inch quarter of an inch thicker than the merino oh definitely thicker than the merino yeah i wanted it to be substantial substantial background more like flat matte but not as um thicker than tightly maybe than yeah kind of like flat matte i guess kind of different but not as tightly felted so it feels a little loftier uh charo scoro is really dark i went with a slightly warm tone so that technique in painting is when um uh who used it um oh my gosh i'm having a having a blank uh when you have a really dark background with a high contrast and well-lit subject rembrandt i guess did that a lot does this mean there will be more 2d tutorials absolutely i can't wait to make stuff with this i've just going to get it out of the way but it shouldn't be too long i mean we're pretty well underway with it and um i feel loud and clunky so what can those pre-felts be used for oh boy so 2d work wet felting or needle felting you could break them down and use them in your sculptures like i mean we haven't even really they're not so thin that i would make a skin with them i don't think um the merino pre-felt's better for that i think the merino pre-felt's better for that yeah but i haven't tried yet like if you could even thin it like sometimes pre-felt you can flake apart um i mean just the possibilities for 2d felting alone yeah and then adding in yeah wet felting there was a question about um where we are with certification oh yeah i'd love to talk about certification so we are now the enrollment period now is closed um we had over 70 people i think or more inquire so the first step is inquiry and so that's on the website you're going to fill out a little form and then that initiates um a non-disclosure and then after the nondisclosure is signed we send you like all the information so if you're interested inquiring and learning more you do that with no you know signing the non-disclosure means nothing except that you're not going to like divulge everything that you're about to learn to the world so there's no commitment is what i'm saying so you can inquire and then we'll we would send you more information and then with that information you can assess if it's a good idea for you or not if you're at the right level if um if it makes sense um you know for you and your plan and your goals and then you um if if so then you would return the application and then we would have a meeting so uh it's going really well i had i was just the perfect amount of interest the perfect amount of um actual applications and i just don't want to like extend the process indefinitely into into the holiday season or anything like that so we're closing enrollment and then we'll do it again early spring um yes twice a year registration yeah so anyone who felt like they weren't quite ready mm-hmm spring uh back to the pre-felt do you know which wool breeds are in there yeah the pre-felt is made primarily with it's there's a huge variety um except that i kept it consistent in it being one about one third merino um top coat wait there's no silk in there so it has merino top coat and core so it has a lot of different a lot of different breeds in it but the idea is to formulate it so that it can needle felt or wet felt wonderfully um we don't have a date for the next certification opening it up in spring i would think i would think march or march and spring interviews into in april we will definitely announce that we'll put it um probably on our facebook page um the website will indicate when it's open again and um the newsletter we can send out oh no no you cannot lose oh no your flag fell off oh jeez i knew it was short-lived um the raffle we usually for some reason end up on tuesday they just need to come back down yeah we think monday we always use it it's usually tuesday we like have this recovery period and then um yes they do i'm just putting them back that's good they're so pretty so pretty anything else oh you're getting you're getting because getting on the fiber fiber fairy and the certification underway was like a big end the um and premature align developed has been the big focus for the last couple of months um can't believe it's october and um but yeah now i get to think about what's next so that's a lot a lot in the works yeah a few questions about um the dragon and the wax and the wings yeah it could be definitely could be um the spines it's just i think you know as with the swags or the paver pole the more well felted the better because you don't want to try to be like pasting wax onto loose fibers you know it's really um really goes better if they're if they're well felted we got to give it a little turn so the next oh this yellow one them oh it's part of the bird of paradise they're wild yeah yeah yeah the dragon the mermaid like we oh the mermaid um yeah um is the wire coated steel or colored aluminum the cloth covered wire yeah is steel pretty sure we should find out but i feel like it's steel um yeah the dragons are fun there's a lot of projects that we've revisited or that i i look at um i don't know they pop up in a memory or if a question i don't know and i'm like gosh i haven't made one of those in a long time like the vessel pumpkins those are so cool oh yeah and sometimes i make something for the purpose of the tutorial or the supply pack and then i don't get i don't make it again you know um will we be getting any car window stickers in well we could do that again i like them i don't know if we have any left if we do we can get them on the site i'm pretty sure they went they all went out yeah um we still need a new pony tutorial that is yes did redoing the pony that we could do that that could be a that could be a good plan um we phased out [Music] um the little simple gnome kits and we might phase out um you smooth if it's not already gone and there's a couple of supply packs that just aren't super popular the nose we just couldn't we could laugh a challenge yeah um is there an age limit for certification absolutely not i don't know totally up to you you must be this tall all right any update on mugs mugs are ordered although we got a super long yeah time the link yeah to it any plans for the moose nope i mean the moose is a well-developed project um but i don't have any plans right now for another university um but the moose is high on the list the rhino is you know i've i taught that as a course so that one the rhino is fun because um for it's a very different animal and you make the skin so that's fun the moose is fine that would be that would be super popular i've made giraffes and that would also be another good one so um could be the t-shirts are on order yeah i love the t-shirts so much i'm really excited about them the turtle the turtle does not come up as well yes i would say those are all kind of on the short list it's just a matter of it's the short list though takes a long time is the the universities with the um support material and everything take a long time i'm just gonna bask in the oh no i made your bulldog fall someone has to see that oh okay i can hold it up or um john you could put the little window back up i don't remember when i made this um okay thank you um this is the scale and the this is the wolf tutorial this is a nice wolf i like this wolf it needs a little more stabbing but my things often do he's got a great face it looks like he's got fur in his coat shingled yeah he does have a good face every time i look up my tiara wants to fall off so i don't know if there's any specific question about it i can answer but um someone's saying do we have to wait for the fell too long to get the bat tutorial the felt along is going to be the bat tutorial yeah there won't be a separate one so the nice thing about you know having the fiber fairy with a tutorial related theme and then doing the felt along is it makes it a little more doable because if so the format in the past was to create a tutorial and release it but that's like a whole other thing that we have to have done in time for the fiber fairy yeah so um yeah so this this way of like okay get your things three weeks down the road um when everybody has their things we're gonna we're gonna do the project and it's really fun to to to film live and i feel like the tutorials that we've done live are pretty good um the um the ren we did that way and we decided just to make the 2d ren the live 2d ren the tutorial for the supply pack um because it was pretty straightforward so all right the wolf length and height i don't think okay let's see this is 18 so is it about nine or 10 inches at the shoulder and then without the tail well his body's the same he's a square but with the tail and head it's about 18 inches long this is not the wolf from the book the wolf from the book is behind i probably us to move you got that yeah on the shelf maybe put the book down and it's really big and he has like wire fatigue at this point so he's um yeah okay is the bat in the way um i thought that i needed to move the book so he's sitting back there with little red riding hood and um yeah he doesn't stand up anymore but it was this time um gosh six years ago was it yeah six years ago that i headed up to the adirondacks and took the pictures for that i'm gonna turn it this way now um the wax it's my understanding is now sold out but more is coming so if you go on the website and just type in the word wax it'll come up in that item there's a link to be emailed when we add more to stock and this is something that sarah used on the bat wings right not necessary but fun someone wants to see it oh the dog okay yeah that's this was i only made one and okay i have to take my terror off for a little while okay it's tough being royalty [Music] he's in the dog felting university and the fell to university i want to be clear we make the hound but in the university i show the armatures for the bulldog the dachshund and the borzoi and people have made them although i haven't seen too many borzois but i i have seen several um of the other dogs so yeah so and then but i only got to make one and he's not even as exaggerated as he should be they should be really really wide in the chest really luggy head but i do i do really like him it was a lot of fun um does that wolf have a shingled tail i'm trying to remember so you could use the new um plumage technique but i think this is shingled and i don't remember what i did i don't remember if i like laid out the fiber and then did the thing where you wrap from the from the base i mean from the end of the tail up or if i just put fur on you know starting from down here and moving up um now you don't i saw a question about the 23rd you don't have to register just come to the youtube channel and um and be here uh somebody asked to look at the book again okay here's the book it's a big book it's a big heavy book uh oh i might sneeze ooh i don't know if you can see that that's bats emerging i just i can't even imagine like it being your job those are cute ones it's funny they have really big eyes and then there's guys with like teeny teeny tiny like little little pinpoint eyes um yeah i can't even imagine like this the specialization of being a bat researcher and photographer yeah so someone said that paypal is they're having a hard time checking out so a couple things i would say um try to make sure you're on firefox or google chrome if you're on safari it might just be giving you a problem because you're on safari as a web browser um i saw paypal come up at the top and then i kind of disappeared but if you click into the payment section i am seeing paypal as an option i haven't gone through the full process to purchase something because then i'd be purchasing something i mean not that i wouldn't do that um so if you have a problem i i would say email we can do like a workaround um so you can get an order in but and make sure you're logged in like i just i feel like that fixes a lot of it does it fixes a lot of issues okay which tutorial is best for learning the shingling technique we do it um penguins on all the birds these penguins it's like a pretty simple introduction to it the duckling penguins would be great introduction to do a lot of um i'm shingling on the duckling you can use you need something you know not core you need something with a little bit of longer fiber and then it kind of depends on what the finished look is that you're going for so in the penguin we use merino which will sort of because it's all wool it doesn't have silk or mohair or alpaca it will it'll sort of just merge into one eventually like it's not gonna stay like really fur or hair like whereas the wolf has um he has fur the fur line in him and so that has a little more of a um you know fur or hair like look to it so as long as you have some wool because you need it to felt and and then a long fiber a long staple fiber yeah the bunny puff is more of the fur technique because the bunny puff you you're having all the fiber stick straight off you're not felting that center um center one third and like so we'll call it shingling because you're kind of like layering like you do a roof you're kind of laying everything on and overlapping it whereas the fur you you let it all stick straight up in the air which tutorial would be best to figure out how to dress a witch did you dress up i can't remember how much i got into the clothing um i haven't done a lot of tutorials on clothing we have the wet felted cloak it's just kind of a building process but there might be other you know other people who have made clothing tutorials little red riding hood i did a con let me grab her i did a combination of um of sewing and felting so she has um she has a felted cloak a badly felted cloak and um if felted sleeves like a little blouse and then but i s sewed her apron and then she has a felted skirt she has felted knickers and these are socks are from the ends of a sweater a felted sweater and her boots are made out of um wool felt i can't remember what kind of wool felt i think it was maybe part of a blanket so she has a combination i am not a sewer i've you know i avoid it but um you know you could definitely use fabric and just create little clothes and i made her a long time ago i've gotten a little bit better at wet felting since then um is there a mermaid on a tutorial there was a mermaid felt along so you can find it in our channel there's a felt along section and there's they're also linked on the website there's a little confusion about the mermaid felt along because i didn't do the face in the felt along because i was just like we have other face tutorials and i was already stretching the limits of the felt along by tackling such a big project but didn't i record something later i feel like i read that word there was something on facebook but we weren't able to like retrieve that oh okay we looked for it i thought like i went live live yeah so sorry about that um this is information that's going to make me sound smart smarter than i am so i'm going to credit it to john a bunch of widely used security certificates for internet services recently expired and businesses are gradually fixing it so you may need to wait and place your order a little later in the day if you're yeah later in the day if you're having trouble like give it a little time and try again wait i don't know what that i don't know what that means but um john knows a lot of things that are technical and he's probably right and he's solving our cart emptying problem oh figuring out what it is oh i really apologize for the cart empty because that if you try to put in more than 40 some ish items um different items there are times that the cart empties and you have to do it all again and go through and do separate orders and that's very primary like our support couldn't help and john totally figured it out yesterday so it is in the process of he figured out why and there is a shift that he's leading us through that's gonna fix that problem which i was like get out it's very exciting um what should i have for lunch i don't know but we're supposed to figure it out these are right to tell us what these are the thoughts that are just popping into my head well we're getting closer to lunch yes we need to order laura that is a very good idea what did laura say fill your wish list and refill your cart from there oh that's a great idea so then it's all safe yeah that is if you have i thought she had a lunch idea 45 items that you want to order if you have you know 10 things you're not gonna have a problem in your cart but thai food birthday cake sushi oh crab cakes crab cakes there's a crab shortage yeah and it's extremely expensive oh no yes be prepared to pay more for your crab cakes cake donna don't worry about the fff comment i do have it but i'm not even requiring that we're gonna we're gonna honor all of them i might have to day drink today i mean you could do that uh any ergonomic handles for needles on the horizon that was sort of a thing but then it wasn't like yeah handle yeah patience recommended like a more of like a knob that fits in your hand so that you're not having to grip a pen you know like the pen tool um but i never totally made that happen ah all right anything else i think we are good good shortly after we sign off all of this will post again if you want to see the fiber fairy offer or all of you overwhelming sarah with had a lot of icelandic fleeces icelandic's a little weird because it's not a lock like if you haven't used it before um like uh wensleydale or it has two parts it has a fuzzy short coat i think that's the tog i can always get them backwards and then it has a long wiry so it has this little fuzzy end and then it has this really long tapered coarser fiber and we just we were just overwhelmed by it we weren't selling it as much we didn't need it and so we put it at um a dollar fifty an ounce which is like less than just even regular regular coral um and we made big eight ounce bags so it's a bit of a what's that it might be gone oh i don't know really i don't know okay well then maybe we don't need to talk about what's buzzing sorry okay um anyway they were super discounted and lee i feel like lee does a really good job using them she sent a little pixie that she had felted the end into the head so it had all like the fuzzy part and then she braided the long thin part and so then i had like these two super cute braids it's so it's really interesting and it's fun to work into things it's just you don't always need icelandic you know it's like a little bit of a weird kind of offshoot thing to have and we had an abundance of it um so we just parted it out the best that we could um we priced it in a way that you know if there's something in there that's a little clumpy or a little short you know it was too much to we were we got rid of a lot that we didn't feel was up to par but then something might have landed in there so um but that's why we priced it so so cheaply they yep they're out of stock oh that's amazing sorry about that that's crazy because there was like there was a lot there okay well good i hope you guys have fun with it we should have a little icelandic challenge and see what people is he stuck somewhere what is he doing like why is he barking oh okay or something is the bunny butter the same as the you smoother bunny butter i think you smooth might be out of stock yeah bunny butter's great bunny butter and no butter they're a little redundant so you smooth was this sort of initial in-between thing that has been phased out um bunny butter and no butter have a slightly higher oil content because we wanted it to be um you know readily usable on your skin so they're for your hands it's for i use it when i use milo i use it when i use swags and i can kind of smooth the swatch out but really that's like a skin a skin thing and we get so much fun feedback on the butters like you know people's like hands have been transformed so that's pretty cool somebody said everyone needs to day drink in honor of your birthday and someone else suggested shots oh my gosh we don't know what you get if we all started doing shots like what's that gets a little wild it does it does i'm such a late weight i would just do i'd be like i'd be like sipping on like half my shot my shot would last me all day oh my gosh well i have had an amazing day so far and i just um i so appreciate wait till you see what else is in my car outpouring there's nothing in my car excited i know sorry let him in what are you making him sit out there for i can go find something um so anyway i just like i i feel like i can't now like return the the thank you and the love back enough so anyway know that i'm doing that don't say drink at work please at least not not because we
